Glassing - From the Other Side of the Mirror (Pelagic) - Extreme post-everything straight out of Austin TX.

Olhava - Sacrifice (self-released) - Cloudy post black metal from St. Petersburg, Russia.

Respire - Hiraeth (Dine Alone) - Blackened post-metal chamber skramz from Toronto.

Thrown - Excessive Guilt (Arising Empire) - Swedish beat-down with heavy hip-hop influence. Break shit!

Bloom Dream - It Didn't Have To Be This Way (Zegema Beach) - These Floridians describe themselves as screamo but I'm hearing way more post-metal influences than most.

Founder - Founder (self-released) - Brand-new Chicago doom band pulling on all the right heart strings.

Olim - Because (Flowing Downward) - Solo post-black metal from the depths of Ontario.

Ov Shadows - Heresiarch (Hypnotic Dirge) - Swedish black metal.

I'm considering maybe taking a little break from this sound. I've noticed that I'm not playing the guitar that often anymore, so I'm thinking of maybe writing some more guitar-centric stuff. And I don't mean like shredding or something. I'm thinking of something like ambient music or atmo black metal (without 808s). But we'll see, I still very much like this sound

Runtuh – Ambiguous Man (2024)

James looks at Ambiguous Man, the debut EP from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia based doom/sludge/drone metal/noise act Runtuh, released July 12th on Ama-Gi Collective.

Kuala Lumpur’s Runtuh tap into the dissonant, unhinged magic of bands such as Primitive Man, Khanate and Body Void, but throw in their own unique funeral doom and death metal elements. They deliver a wide variety of raw, unhinged vocals, as well as depressive clean vocals. This is paired with a crushing heaviness and an unreasonable level of distortion and feedback. Its hard to believe that a band can create something so impressive with their debut EP, yet here we are, minds and eardrums blown.
