in rereading GoG, i 100% love that this kid book series created such fun and engaging female characters right from the get-go. of course, written by a woman you would hope so! (and then u have warrior cats) While am trans and no female, i read and got into many series with female characters and was very passionate about the ones that i thought were unique and “different”. i loved Cynder the Dragon (Spyro), Nyra (GoG), Blaze the Cat (Sonic), etc. I gravitated towards girls who were cool...maybe dark, not “girly” or “boy crazy”. Ones who were more than that. And I’d say GoG did a great job with this and holds many interesting female characters within the series.

like, i know i always liked Gylfie, shes smart and witty and has all the best things to say. I love how she has such passion. She’s an obvious good female character. But even with a character like Otulissa... shes supposed to be annoying but my god she really steals by heart getting into book 4! And i adore that there is this intentionally “annoying” smart character but she’s more than just that. Her smarts are very important and regardless of being a bit annoying about it, shes a good person with good intentions. Additionally, characters like Ruby getting so much praise for her skills is a nice things to read. Eglantine having focus for her emotional turmoil and trauma is also incredibly nice to read. Other characters, like the Rogue Smith of Silverveil having background of being the first female blacksmith is nice (and the fact that Soren kinda gets told off when he thinks its weird she is a smith lol). I also love Madame Plonk’s  graceful but goofy energy (pretty voice, messy apartment, and a light weight with alcohol lmao...a fucking lovely woman)

listen i am only on book 4 in terms of my re-reading journey so don’t quote me on all the females in this series. but even of future characters, theres so many good female ones. heroes and villains!

first of all, id love if cynder didnt seem so...annoyed? bored? her voice acting is so flat and her attitude doesnt seem to fit whats going on at any point?

i would..not have the big "i love you" scene between spyro and cynder at the end. like, theyve had zero time across 3 games to develop a romantic interest in eachother, it feels so forced at the last minute and its aggravating bc i know its just "boy protag and girl protag ALWAYS fall in love" and the fact that its mostly due to fans wanting it makes it even more grating to me since it just shows that the development team never originally dedicated any time to making it happen initially and it really was just slapped on after the fact

ID CHANGE IGNITUS'S DEATH SCENE sorry im an ignitus stan who thoroughly believes that he shouldnt have died. like, over 3 games we see this poor guy get broken down until hes so depressed he can barely function, but hes the biggest believer of getting to see a better world someday. he deserved to see spyro save everyone, he deserved to see happier times, and i feel like he still had a lot to give. i especially would love to see more between him and spyro, their relationship is so interesting.

lore. god the lore needs to be fucking developed more, they contradict themselves repeatedly in this game. "a purple dragon is born once every ten generations" to "malefor and spyro are the only purple dragons ever" to "malefor actually fucking stating that there have been purple dragons before him"???????????? like im not even entirely sure what we're meant to believe here. also the dragon city??? the fact that we see other dragons helping everyone that we've never met before??? the catacombs??? can we have some explanation PLS???

SPEAKING OF MALEFOR oh my god. oh fuck. mark hamill is a good voice actor but they put so many "evil" sounding effects on his voice that hes actually barely understandable. like, i HAVE to turn on subtitles bc idk what the fuck hes saying. he feels so cheesy and cliche, all he does is laugh evilly and taunt spyro and cynder by lying to them, it just feels disappointing that hes built up to be this massive, horrific villain and all we have is Big Bad Guy Who Is Bad And Will Laugh At You. spyro and cynder arent even the ones that defeat him. he feels so insanelt lackluster, and his design is so weirdly clunky and clustered despite everything else indicating otherwise. they made....so many weird choices with him...i can not understand why.....

id make sparx have a little more to do. like, in the other games he at least leads spyro to somewhere or incites an important action that has to happen for the story to progress, or he helps you out in some way or another. in dotd it just feels like hes...yknow...There. like he makes some jokes and then right at the end he gets sent away and thats it. it feels so odd since u would figure he and spyro's bond would warrant a LITTLE more in the final game of the fucking series

trust me there is sooooo much more i could literally go on and on about story-wise, character-wise and gameplay-wise but i feel like this is already waaay too long as it is bc all i do is ramble lolololol

With Spyro becoming relevant again, I was wondering: What are your thoughts on The Legend of Spyro trilogy from the 2000’s?

Okay so unpopular opinion: I didn’t think it was bad. Could it have been better? Oh absolutely. But was it abysmal? I don’t think so. For what it was, I thought it did what it set out to do well enough: reinvent Spyro into something new. And that’s exactly what it felt like. This Spyro feels a lot more like a movie and less of a game, but in this case I feel like it worked. The story took itself far more seriously and the tone was a lot darker, but the darker feel felt like it had a place with this trilogy. Like... if the original Spyro went for a darker feel I don’t think it’d have worked, but here it does, some of which can be attributed for the overall design of the games (I like the aesthetic of them). Hell, at the very least I was invested, and I’ll give them props for doing something no other Spyro game gave you up until that point.

Actual flight.

I don’t mean level-designated flight either I mean legit flight, something I always wanted in the past Spyro games. My issue with it was it was pretty limited, but it worked well enough for the game in question. The ones I remember the most is the first and third. I... honestly don’t quite remember the second one. I played it but it’s kinda a big gap in my memory but I don’t know why? Hm. :/

The only negative I’d say was how it ended? I can’t remember exactly what happens but I get the feeling that the ending of the trilogy felt rushed, especially (once again) the shoe-horned romance they threw in there. Like, Cynder was cool sure and she and Spyro were awesome, but I liked them much better as friends for one, and for two it didn’t really seem like anything they did really led to a romance. Like it kinda felt like they did the whole “oh she a girl he a guy they gotta be TOGETHA” instead of building toward a potential romance. That “I love you” in the ending wAS OUTTA NO WHERE? And I don’t remember them ever touching on it afterward so like waht the fuck. I meeaaaan... it could’ve just meant the platonic “Bro you my homey I luv u uwu” but I highly, highly doubt it.

TL;DR There were a lot of things this game could have and probably should have done differently, but it was fun, it achieved the goal it set out for, and the story arching over the three games was interesting enough to keep me vested in the series. Overall verdict? 

It was aight.

My mom was finally hospitalized and suprisingly she did it herself. Yet apparently im not supposed to know which makes me really sad and hate myself cause if my aunt didnt tell me i wouldnt have known i wouldnt have questioned why my mom hadnt called or wouldnt even try to and that just makes me truly hate myself. She has been alone through everything and ik she doesnt treat me right and ik she doesnt support who i am and ik she is delusional about me being brainwashed and she thinks people are trying to get me to join a cult and that im going to 'meetings' and that they are making me hate her ...but still no matter what she is just an ill old woman who has no one. Been mistreated by everyone and has no control over her brain. I just want to see her not live in extreme fear and paranoia everyday of her life. I dont want her to have to wrap herself in nylar and line her hats with tinfoil (not a joke please be senstive with tinfoil hat jokes around me please they actually arent funny at all and make me upset because u dont know the pain and the fear that leads one to that and its NOT fucking funny) I dont want her to have to sleep outside in a cynder block fortress covered in nylar and tarps while she is wrapped in 20 blankets JUST so she can feel safe just so she can sleep and not feel like the are attacking her with machines.
