I rant about season 1 of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear
First of all, the pacing. Season one was trying very hard to reach the Kraken within 12 episodes. Because of this, they had to shave off a lot, losing the lazy pacing of the original Light Novel in the process. An example of this is how they covered the entirety of volume 1 in TWO EPISODES.
They also scrubbed out most of the darker elements of the story. While this made the show more family friendly, I think the show lost a lot of it's grounding because of it. It helps to know that the world Yuna now lives in kinda sucks, and the entire reason the story is light and fluffy is because Yuna is around to make it that way.
Opening the season on the black viper was a huge misstep. On paper it's a good idea as the black viper arc is a pretty good isolated introduction on who Yuna is and what her abilities are. However, it gave the audience the impression that this would be an action packed adventure story, and when people watched on to discover that it's mostly a slice-of-life, it made a good chunk of viewers walk away feeling bored out of their minds. Those same viewers especially hated Season 2 because it more accurately portrayed the lazy pacing of the LN.
And let's not get too far into the BAFFLING decision to make it look like her entire adventure in another world is a VR game she's playing through. There are still people in the audience that think Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear is a Sword Art Online situation well into season 2.
Despite them being in such a hurry, it still found time to bring in an anime original story about Fina and Shuri trying to get their parents to stop fighting. While it was cute and gave us insights on Tirumina and Gents' party that we don't even get to see much of in the original, I would have preferred if they instead adapted the story of Yuna helping the whole family move. The part in the LN where the whole family stays at Yuna's house for a night instead of just Fina and Shuri was Yuna's first taste of what it's like to have a family, and it PAINS me that that anime didn't decide to jump on the opportunity for feels there.
Since we're diving into very specific examples, Yuna saving Misa was reduced to a single shot of Yuna killing an orc. It very confusing for the audience as it made you get a vague sense something happened without showing it. It's a huge shame because the battle against the orcs was an awesome and particularly brutal moment in the LN and Manga, and I would have loved to have seen it it animated.
Speaking of things I would of wished were animated, just the entirety of Yuna saving Morin and Karin at their bakery. They reduced an action scene to exposition. In the LNs, it made more sense for them to humor the bear girl's job proposal as she just risked her life to save them from thugs. In the anime, they just blindly went along with it because, and I quote: "she has good taste in food." Seriously, if someone offered you money to move to another town, wouldn't you immediately think that's fishy? At least in the LN, they had a reason to think she was a good person.
Oh yeah, and the following scene with corrupt merchant. GOD, one of the funniest scenes in the series left on the cutting room floor. A crime, a crime happened there.
Speaking of humor, the anime decided to replace jokes and gags in the original LN with their own humor. They inserted an oddly timed "rabbit season" joke into the the goblin king arc for example.
The 10,000 monsters incident in the anime was kinda a joke in its own right. In the LN and the manga, we see Yuna taking a break partway through, taking a nap at the end of it. Even for her, that many monsters is a lot... in the anime though, Yuna takes them all down without taking a sweat, and the monster horde is super ridiculous. At one point, the mage had two goblin kings as personal bodyguards. (SERIOUSLY!)
Particularly pissed at the wyverns being awake in the anime. When Yuna eventually gets to fight awake wyverns in the LNs, she struggles taking them down. And yeah, eventually Yuna gets skilled enough to take down the beasts in droves, but that's like MUCH farther into the story. Because of how they handled the 10,000 monsters incident, there's just, no gradual power scaling anymore in the anime. There are no stakes in the slightest. It makes it EXTRA weird that Yuna faints fighting the Kraken.
I'm not a fan on how the anime handled Cliff's character. In the LNs, he's always face palming at Yuna's ridiculous antics and giving her sassy remarks. None of that carried over to the anime and he lost a lot of personality because of it.
Their introduction of Atola was a travesty. They turn her into a laughing idiot. You can argue that she redeems herself when she took down the Merchant Guild master, but it was still the weirdest goddamn way to introduce the character.
Sigh, I'm nitpicking at this point, let me dial back a bit.
There are a few things I liked about season 1.
I liked how they handled Yuna healing Tirumina. While it undercut's her intelligence a bit, it made it a lot more tense that Yuna didn't immediately figure out how to cure her illness, and anyone who hasn't read the books would be left wondering if Yuna can even save her for a few minutes there before she figured out what she was doing wrong. There was some good drama there, I was impressed how they did that.
While I'm upset how they handled Morin and Karin's arc, I do personally love how they ended it. In the LNs, Morin and Karin get the deed to their shop at the capitol before they left for Crimonia, and the deed was handed to them directly. In the anime, the deed arrives after their first day opening the shop, and the deed is handed to Yuna.
WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT, Yuna hands the deed to Morin and Karin and tells them they can go back home. When they ask about the shop, she says "It'll hurt us, but that's our problem." It's a great moment, and it's totally something Yuna would do. I also love how Morin and Karin's decision allowed the bear girl to contemplate on what she has now. It was very good!
If we had more moments like that, I would be more forgiving of season one, but I don't think the pros outweigh to cons here. Season 1 is deeply flawed, and while Season 2 isn't perfect by a long shot, it more carefully captured the tone and story of the originals better.
This turned into a much longer rant than I thought xD sorry for any typos, I'm tired as all hell.

White’s Houses, 7-12
Hello, everyone! Thank you so much to all of those who have followed this series; I’m glad people liked it. I hope it was informative and fun, and again, if anyone ever wants to use that information for any purposes like fanart or fics, let me know because that would be super cool to see! I want to finish White’s deep dive before I properly start Yellow’s chart (although I’ve already made some notes), so expect Yellow’s next but not for another couple of weeks at least because I want to properly dust off everything to do with White.
All of you are more than free to use the posts as discussions- in the comments or in the reblogs. You’re also more than free to message me about anything; if you did want to add anything or note anything, you can do that! Don’t feel you can’t. This info is in the public domain so do what you want with it 😂 Thank you again 😊
Tumblr media
Seventh House: Capricorn
From here onwards, we focus on White’s outer world, rather than her inner self and inner environment. Here, we look at how she connects to this world and to others, particularly partnerships (not necessarily romantic, but partnerships of any kind), contracts, and cooperation. As it’s in Capricorn, she’s someone who is serious and dedicated when it comes to her relationships, and she would prefer, at all times, if her relationships were well-defined and sturdy, even as she may come across as cold or distant sometimes. This is because she’s cautious with her heart. Although this is great for a long-term view and especially in business, it can take the sweetness and spontaneity out of love. This means, in relationships, she may be delayed in making connections, although this is something she craves deeply. Considering her other placements, the lack of spontaneity may be overruled quite a bit. I think her Venus, Moon, and Fifth House points to the fact she likes creative, intellectual, and intense love, but I think we can see this as an extra addition that she’s someone who, perhaps, is looking for a long-term partner rather than casual relationships, and she wants a partner who is consistent, steady, and practical. Yet, these are all attributes we can subscribe to her relationships in general, not just romantic love. In business, with family, friends, and dating, she’s always looking at the long-term.
When she has relationships like that, she can have connections around her that are trustworthy and supportive. In return, she will develop a strong sense of responsibility to the relationships in her life, particularly in wanting to create a safe space for them, nurturing them in that way. She’s very eager to take on a more emotional role in long-term relationships. White puts up a front professionally, feeling she holds up society and her family, so she actually wants to take a step back and allow someone else to take charge in her relationships in the sense of being taken care of. Once she’s able to find that balance, she’ll find a relationship that is loyal, dedicated, and steady.
I think this will help her overcome a lot of emotional wounds that she’s developed over time. Moreover, there’s an Aquarius degree here, meaning she’s looking for something unique, forward-thinking, and innovative, which isn’t a surprise. In her relationships, I think this is definitely something that aligns with her personality and something she would need anyway in order to have a close bond with someone, due to her mix of traits and experiences- her unique qualities and traits would naturally lead to unique relationships.
Eighth House: Aquarius
Here, we come to the instinctual parts of life, such as rebirth and transformation, sexual energy, and even shared resources. With this being in Aquarius, White is likely to find and define her independence and unique intellect within the hidden or darker aspects of life. In her finances, this may be a problem, as she takes an unconventional approach to joint finances and what she invests in. She may like to play around with her finances and take big risks on a whim, which may or may not work out for her, depending on the situation. This may also mean she takes an alternative approach to her sexual and intimate relationships, and will probably experiment with esoteric practices during her lifetime. Her sense of humour could also help her to navigate any difficult or uncomfortable times in her life, though she should be careful, with her other placements, not to joke inappropriately.
As much as White doesn’t have a problem expressing herself in some areas, such as at work, in her interests, and with her intellect, her emotional realm is a bit more difficult and she may struggle to express herself in an authentic, self-guided manner, particularly if she has imitated authority figures or roles that she thinks she needs to adopt. Plus, she needs to be careful about what can come with this placement, as she may find that her difficulty to express herself properly leaves her unable to deal with stress and changes, particularly when it comes to societal changes. She may not feel grounded and therefore, is likely to take it hard or even lash out. Yet, personal transformation is easier for her. She can usually change herself fairly quickly and without much thought, and this may come across as unusual and abrupt to others. Yet, this dissonance between swift personal transformation and not always being able to handle the changes of others and society can make it difficult for others to understand her, and maybe even for her to understand herself at times.
The crises that occur in her life will help to guide her towards being more individual as a person, helping her to be more free and forward-thinking in general. As there is also a Pisces degree, there may be a sense of confusion around how she can effectively approach her own transformations in life, as well as how she can share with others on a society-based level, despite the fact she wants to give to others. Yet, this is also emphasised by the Pisces degree, as this is all about connection. Not only to others but to herself; the areas that come under this house can be extremely important for her development, as well as her spiritual journey. Learning to connect to herself first is the key to effectively connecting to others.
Ninth House: Pisces
In the house of expansion, growth, adventure, and belief systems, we have Pisces, making White someone whose philosophy is likely to be emphasised around the imaginative and mystical parts of life. These philosophies are of the highest importance to her and she applies them to her daily life. She may enjoy stories of the supernatural, so would enjoy fiction, mythology, as well as exploring altered states of consciousness, meaning that she’s most likely spiritual or religious, something that’s emphasised in other parts of her chart. Yet, despite this, she may be a little fuzzy on her worldview, what exactly it is, and her thinking may be too far out of this world to actually guide her. She’s always thinking beyond, which means her philosophy is not always based in reality. Once she applies her understanding and experiences from her spirituality to her outside world, she’ll find it’ll help to solve her problems.
Her ideal adventure would actually be when she gets to journey into herself, or when she gets to travel to a place of incredible beauty or stillness, or just being able to lose herself in something big and immersive. Despite that, she isn’t the type of person who wants to travel often and she may feel drawn to staying in places near water. With Aries in the degree here as well, we see that she’s creative here. She’s willing to explore, in a very direct and active way, these different philosophies, these imaginative and mystical parts of life, and she’s willing to go out and explore these adventures she really wants deep down, and she’s willing to be creative in how she does that.
Tenth House: Aries
White’s house of authority, career, public life, and societal roles is in Aries. This means she’s someone who’s likely to have an active and fiery professional life, who likes to take charge of her destiny, and who likes to be in positions of leadership, as she’s very comfortable in the spotlight. She’s someone who thrives when she gets to engage with her initiative, as well as show feats of courage in her career- the type that really impresses others and makes her look flashy. This is because she’s naturally energetic here and brings a sense of fun, due to her passionate nature. Moreover, this ends up leading into her wanting to lead projects and providing enthusiasm to others as they get the work done. This can work to her advantage, as she isn’t the type of person to be steady in her work motivation, so having people around her who are happy to provide the details whilst she provides the more public and encouraging tasks would be good for her.
Ultimately, White puts herself in a contradiction. She likes to be in the spotlight, to be in charge, to be the main voice, but she isn’t the type of person who can do the work herself, due to her attention span, lack of motivation, and impulsivity in her decision-making after the initial burst has worn off. Therefore, she has the right public persona to be a leader but not the type of leader who can do the hard graft. She would actually benefit from letting other people lead. From this placement alone, it suggests that she’s the type of person who can be hard-working and driven once she figures out what she wants and I believe this is somewhat true, but with her chart overall, I actually think she would benefit from finding a career that allows her to be a bit more scattered, to find a role that suits this part of her, as that’s not going to go away, even with some more balance in her life. She’s only as hard-working as she wants to be and the question is whether she wants to be. White needs to find a job that she’d be endlessly curious about, one with a bit of diversity.
However, as she has a Taurus degree here, she naturally attracts abundance, particularly materially, so, despite these challenges, she’s the type of person to thrive anyway. This might mean she’s someone who always manages to work it out one way or another, but it also means she’s potentially the type of person who takes the credit for other people’s hard work behind the scenes, and doesn’t always give them any verbal or material reward for that. Either way, she would benefit from more balance, despite the natural abundance she attracts.
Eleventh House: Taurus
Here, we arrive at themes surrounding humanity, group dynamics, aspirations, and hopes and dreams. With it in Taurus, White is someone who wants the community/society around her to be slow and stable, a place where she can feel grounded and that she feels is reliable at all times. This is backed by her Eighth House where we see she doesn’t like the idea of a fast-changing society or environment around her; it makes her feel unsteady. As she shows elements of being excessive and spontaneous within herself, I think it’s important for her to have a place that is the opposite of that and if it moves too quickly, she’ll end up feeling disoriented or uneasy. Some of her aspirations for humanity and for society is about increasing a sense of security, particularly materially.
Like her other placements, we see the value of community and beauty emphasised. She really just loves spending time with her loved ones and feeling she has solid bonds with those around her. Again, the idea of connections over superficial or material aspects is emphasised here- she likes the simple things in life. She’s also the type of person to not have a lot of friends but she’s close to the ones she has, and is more likely to make long-term connections than have something short lasting. However, as Taurus’ can be slow and stubborn, White may become the same here, becoming stuck in groups or places when they no longer benefit her or when they never did in the first place, especially with her loyal nature. She’ll feel it’s wrong to move on. Yet, there is a Gemini degree here, meaning she’s curious and willing to explore when it comes to her sense of community and exploring her bonds in general. This is something she’d enjoy, but tied with Taurus, probably just at a slower pace than usual.
Twelfth House: Gemini
Coming to the last house, White’s is in Gemini, and we see themes surrounding hidden strengths, endings, transformation, and spirituality. This means when it comes to these areas, as well as the world of dreams and the subconscious, she likes to take a mentally-oriented approach. She’s endlessly inspired and curious about this aspect of life and finds much depth in exploring her curiosities and ideas here. White likes to find answers because, to her, this area of life is captivating, though sometimes confusing for her. There’s some themes in her overall chart saying spirituality is good for her, that she also loves to explore darker sides of life, but not all of spirituality is heavy and dark, it’s light and inspiring. Finding a balance between all of these aspects may mean she finds it difficult to balance her subconscious and her approach to these areas; mentally, she becomes too busy to be present. She’s the type of person to go everywhere and nowhere at once. Even so, because she is intellectual and even poetic in her nature, this enables her to express herself and tap into spirituality in a way that’s eternally exciting for her. This will be a great gateway for her to start exploring realms that are a little more confusing for her when she first starts. Moreover, there’s a Cancer degree to this house, meaning she’ll find security and a sense of being at home in herself when she allows herself to truly explore this area and be open with it, but once she can find a firm footing in this area, she can also direct it towards her family and home environment that she so truly desires and needs, and bring some sense of healing to it too.

(long) thoughts on 10.22, mcdanno and the ending
Okay, so. The finale. It took me a while to digest everything and turn my thoughts into coherent sentences. Also, this is long. Like an essay. Literally. If you read till the end, bless you.
I have mixed feelings, and they’re tugging at each other. Part of me wants to scream but another part of me is like, there’s more to this. This is me trying to make sense of the whole thing without my heart shattering. So you’ll definitely get glimpses of each side during this essay.
First, here’s a scene I imagine happening after the series finale ends:
It fades back in. And we’re in Steve’s house. We don’t know how much time has passed. Keys rattle, and the front door is pushed open.
Offscreen, we hear, “you better not have forgotten the malasadas.”
It’s a little raspy, a little slow, a little croaky, but so unmistakably Danny’s voice.
A chuckle. And then, comes the reply, equally raspy, “right here, Danno. Come and get them.”
“And you better have bought a lot. Clara is coming over in a bit. You know how much she loves malasadas. And no, you come out here, the breeze is nice,” Danny replies.
And Steve goes. And sits in his chair next to Danny as they look out into the water. He opens the box and Danny grabs a malasada.
They’re home.
Fade to black. Roll credits.
In my opinion, the ending was supposed to be about McDanno. And as much as we did get so much McDanno in the finale, I’m talking specifically about the last thing we see on the screen. And I’m not talking about them becoming canon. The chances of that happening were slim to none.
I’m talking about their friendship, their partnership, their bond. I’m talking about the two men who put their lives on the line for each other, time and time again, without hesitation; the two men who traveled to the ends of the earth for each other. That is what the ending should have ended with.
From the full-blown panic Steve was in when Danny was being followed. Steve's only priority is saving Danny’s life. The person you care about most in the world. Steve holding Danny on the way to the hospital. Steve constantly reassuring Danny that he’s right there, to hold on. Steve holding Danny’s hand. He thought he was going to lose Danny and it broke him.
(Also, All For One playing during the scene where Steve sits next to Danny’s hospital bed and holds his hand? Yes, I cried.)
I knew the Catherine part was coming, from the moment she was brought up, I knew what was going to happen. I just didn’t want the Catherine scene to be the final scene of the series.
Because the truth is, while Catherine kept ducking in and out of Steve’s life, the one constant thing in Steve’s life was Danny. And they didn’t do that justice.
And I think that’s what I’m mad about most. I knew the chances of canon McDanno were slim to none (even though the first half of the episode was screaming McDanno, as should have the entire episode been and a part of me was like, hold on...maybe...because 95% of the episode? McDanno.)
All throughout season ten, we were constantly shown how important Steve and Danny are to each other, that they can’t live without each other. It truly was a love letter to each other and to McDanno fans. We know the love is there, but I wanted to see Steve choosing Danny. Yes, we got a heart to heart, some of their classic banter in there, I love you’s and a powerful hug, which I am grateful for and will always cherish…but I wanted the last scene of the series, to be of Steve and Danny.
And it breaks my heart, because at the end of the day, Steve left Danny.  After everything.
Hawaii. Danny moved 4,948 miles away from his home to be close to his daughter. He hated Hawaii. But then he met Steve and Steve chose Danny. Then he slowly began to love the Island. Until the Island was home. Until Steve was home. Danny was alone in the beginning and what hurts so much, is even after ten years, the last time we see Danny, is him, sitting on his best friend’s private beach, alone. It breaks my heart.
And I want to say that Danny hops on a plane and goes to Jersey to Steve but I wanted Steve to pick Danny. I wish Steve had realized that going away isn’t always the answer. That healing can happen with the people you love. Should happen with the people you love. Because that is what the show is about. How to save and be saved at the same time. Heal, and be healed.
My hopes are for a Steve and Catherine friendship. I have a few issues with how Catherine treated Steve, and how she hurt him. And for me, it seems out of character for Steve to just dive back into a relationship with her, after everything they’ve been through in the past. Especially after clearly saying how much Catherine is like Doris. And how he’s done with Doris. Because if Steve is just repeating history, I feel like during those final two minutes, the writers went, Steve’s character development? Don’t know him.
I get needing time away. I get that there’s so much history and pain for Steve in Hawaii. And I wholeheartedly agree that Steve needs a break. I just have a little problem with the timing.
Danny is recovering. Plain and simple. While yes, Danny doesn’t need Steve to hold his hand and hover during his recovery. But he nearly died and Steve nearly lost his mind at that thought. And yet, a mere week later, Steve just leaves.
And just like Steve needs to heal, Danny needs to heal, too. It’s been a hell of a year for both of them. Danny’s been through so much too, and the person who helps him through it and who Danny leans on, has left. And I hate how they undermined Danny’s hurt, his pain, they put him through hell and then take away his number one support system. I think Danny needed to get away, too. And with the whole “if you’re out, I’m out” thing that’s been going on between Steve and Danny, I doubt Danny will remain in Five-0 without Steve.
Whether anything comes out of Steve and Catherine, it doesn’t change the fact that Danny was left behind. And that just angers me so much. I just had hoped that Steve would have chosen Danny, just like Danny has been choosing Steve time and time again for a decade.
Steve says Catherine was the one who got away. Because, yes, she got away. And when he tells Cole that he’s good, I believe him. I think he accepted it long ago, that maybe it would have worked out. But it didn’t. And I think Steve deserved some closure, and that’s why Catherine showed up at the end.
The first time I watched the episode and the ending, I thought, “yeah, why did I expect anything different...” but then after really thinking about it, I realized nothing is set in stone. And I started thinking, maybe Catherine is there to support Steve, maybe this will lead to them mending their relationship and becoming friends. Because I honestly pray and hope Steve’s development isn’t gone. He’s lost, he needs to find himself again. The few times we’ve seen Catherine since she left the show was either because she needed Steve’s help or he needed hers. Maybe it’s still just that. And it’s just purely that. A friend helping a friend.
And I suspect Steve couldn’t do that with Danny because it’s all still so fresh, and it’s eating at Steve. Danny almost died. Because of something Steve had. And it shook Steve to his core. He almost lost the person he cares about most in this world, and it would have been his fault.
Catherine’s last words were, are you ready? And I think they meant, are you ready to heal?
I don’t mind a Steve and Catherine friendship, just not a romantic relationship. She can help Steve with his PTSD, they can talk and get closure. Maybe that hand holding was Steve saying, thank you for being here. Thank you for helping. That hand holding felt more like holding hands in support, rather than romance. I think if it were romance, he would have intertwined their fingers together. He tells her how much he appreciated her help and that she will always mean a lot to him but they’re history. They had their shot. It didn’t work out. Romantically, at least. And maybe they’re better as friends.
Steve has his face in his hands, and he’s terrified. The look in his eyes during the entire episode speaks of fear, worry, concern, pain, guilt. When Danny wakes up, Steve lets out a long, shaky breath. He was holding his breath. Literally. Then Steve says, “she used you to get to me, she almost killed you...” and that realization, it flipped something in Steve. He couldn’t handle history repeating itself.
So I’m going to believe that that’s the reason Steve left, because otherwise, I see his leaving as out of character. He needs to heal away from Hawaii, away from seeing Danny’s battered body and knowing he was indirectly the reason for that. So he heals. And he returns to Hawaii, to Danny. And they continue healing together.
Maybe, after receiving the miss you already text from Danny, and if Steve wasn’t getting off the plane, maybe he could have texted back, “me too, Danno. But I’ll be back.” (But, come on, the way Steve looked back at Danny sitting on the beach, the look of longing already in Steve’s eyes…yeah, I thought he was getting off that plane.)
Bottom line is, I hope Steve and Catherine rebuild their relationship as friends. And maybe Steve could start rebuilding his trust towards Catherine, too. I think that would be good for him, to heal that part. Because I know how much they mean to each other. And honestly, I think there’s so much romantic history, and just history, good and bad, maybe even too much, for them to move past on the romantic side.
When Danny woke up in the hospital, he said, “you can’t get rid of me that easily.” Even after being kidnapped, beaten and shot, Danny is never leaving Steve.
So I hope Steve returns to Danny, and to their beach, and they do grow old together. As husbands or platonic life partners, either way, I hope they end up sitting side by side watching sunsets. I’m praying they both get the happy ending they so deserve.
My true ending to the show is Danny’s final dream in 8.10. Steve and Danny have grown old together, Danny’s granddaughter had called and Steve forgot to tell Danny. And Danny saying he wouldn’t change anything about his life, there is not a single thing he would change. If he had to do it again, he’d do it the same way. That’s my ending.

2. Don't turn off the light and complain that it's dark. The only way to get the most out of life is to take responsibility for everything you do, whether the outcome is good or bad. Durant can change that. He might not take James's unofficial belt as the world's best player, but he can beat him in this series. Durant has the better team, sure, and James is asked to do more for his team than Durant is for his, wholesale nfl jerseys from china although it's closer than most think, given the rim protecting responsibility Durant assumes in several small lineups.

The holiday week is very busy for the hunting preserves, and, since Riley reputation had spread, he was frequently offered jobs in addition to his regular or privately booked hunts. That year they requested him (and me), to do a quail hunt Thursday the week before the holiday and three pheasant hunts: the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, one Black Friday afternoon and one the following Saturday morning.
