Obviously next week could prove this all dead-wrong, but I don’t think the trial’s quite over. I don’t believe the end of that episode actually took place, because I’m pretty sure we’re still firmly in the “punish Agatha” phase. Rio’s suddenly gone. Alice seems to be dead by Agatha’s hand, and no one—including Teen, who has always been on her side—seems primed to believe she was out of control. The others have been sucked beneath the power of the surrogate son who not only just told Agatha to fuck off, but went full-Wanda to do it. It just all seems too tailored to cut up any of the character progress Agatha’s made on the Road thus far. Getting harassed by her ghost mother and hearing her son’s voice don’t feel like a complete tear-down. This does. It feels like more trial.

The fandom god discussion is interesting, but I feel it’s sometimes hindered by an unwillingness to separate gods from mortal society, or even a sort of over-eagerness to project our own reality onto them, which simply doesn’t work. I've seen the gods referred to as rulers or tyrants demanding worship (which I kinda understand because it’s something Ludinus says in-game, though it’s funny to see fandom corners confidently repeat the inaccurate talking points of the antagonist) but more interestingly I've also seen them referred to as a higher/the highest social class, as colonizers imposing themselves on mortals, the raven queen specifically as new money. Overall these comparisons tend to talk about the gods and their actions regarding Aeor in the past and predathos/the Vanguard in the present less as if they're about saving their own lives and more as if they want to preserve their powerful position.

The gods, by their very nature, are above mortals. They cannot be compared to any mortal ruling class because they didn’t choose or strive for that power and cannot feasibly get rid of it/step down/redistribute it (nor do they actually in any sense rule; killing the raven queen, unlike killing an actual queen, will not end the 'tyranny' of death), they simply have it by virtue of being gods. Saying that’s unfair or unequal and that the gods should be killed because of it is akin to saying it’s unfair a mountain is bigger than you and demanding it be levelled, except the gods, unlike mountains, are living, feeling beings who shouldn’t have to die because some people can’t stand the idea of not always being top dog. Thing is, the gods themselves ultimately understood this power imballance and that they can't help but hurt Exandria the way humans can't help but step on bugs, and thus removed themselves from the equation by creating the divine gate. Saying this isn’t enough and that they're clinging to power is just demanding they line themselves up to be killed.

I honestly had so much fun making this! The moment I found out your Rabbit Sun was from an Alice in Wonderland AU, I knew I wanted to go for it. I loveeee Alice in Wonderland! That and while it's been a while since I've drawn anything anthropomorphic, your design was so interesting that I saw it as a very welcome challenge in my books!

I'm not too good at backgrounds, but I do hope it fits decently enough into your world. I wasn't sure what Sun's area would look like, so to not spoil the surprise through an ask about it, I made my own little corner and plopped everyone in. See it as a little clear pocket dimension of sorts for my disembodied voice. ^^

I really enjoyed reading all the extra tidbits about your other goobers too (I loved seeing all the art and backstory!) and it was sooo tempting to make a Hallow drawing because of how well they fit the spoooooky month. :3

It was fun time, and even though our interactions haven't been many, talking to ya was lovely! You have so many wonderful AUs, I hope to see you create more of them! ^^

OTL So. Nexus is very much using dark star power and it's gradually killing them, very likely affecting his mental state too and he admitted he's drowned out his own past feelings with it. He seems more paranoid, afraid of being controlled, believing the others never cared about him so he shouldn't care for them either, thinking Solar was going to stab him because he held a screwdriver. Also smthn smthn worst case of what Moon's fall into which is acknowledging they are bad and using it as an excuse to not change because he "can't" change, but Nexus is just fully embracing the role. All this cumulating into a god complex he's above everything, but you're not are you despite you insulting him for being "weak and pathetic" now you clearly have a soft spot for Solar and want him with you as your brother. I totally understand why Solar said he wanted to kill him it makes sense in the heat of the moment and with his past experience with his Moon, but I'm glad Sun immediately seemed uncomfortable with the idea and Moon wanted them to take a breather before talking about this more. Still very ouch all around

as much of a fan as i am of arthur falling head over heels for merlin in the lower town during their fight and knowing the entire time while merlin reluctant to admit he actually finds arthur sometimes pleasant to be around until like a year later when he's like "fuck i kinda like him as more than a friend" when he's actually in love with him,,, the alternative has been plaguing my mind recently.

merlin is like "aw man he sucks but destiny is destiny" until like around the poisoned chalice when merlin drinks the wine and falls unconscious and he's wondering to himself why he would do such a thing and like yeah nimueh probably cursed it so he would drink it but also he's not really that upset about it?? he's kinda relieved??? why???????? oh bc arthur didn't drink it so he's fine and alive and oh he's checking up on me and his voice is soft and not at all mocking or brash like normal and his hand is on my shoulder and my heart is racing and i'm blushing and his touch is so warm and- oh fuck. so merlin is like reluctant about feeling this way but makes his peace with it, hoping that one day it'll just fizzle out. but the thing is: it doesn't. merlin continues to fall deeper and deeper in love with arthur and it just becomes a part of him like his magic. it's a simple fact. he has blue eyes, he has black hair, he has magic, he's in love with arthur. it becomes intertwined with his very being and he can't imagine ever not loving arthur.

meanwhile, arthur is fond and protective of him idiotic, bumbling servant. he's also a good friend not that arthur would ever call him that but anyways arthur keeps him safe bc if it weren't for him, the fool would trip over air and impale himself on his own thumb. so arthur grows more fond and protective of merlin as the series progresses and yeah at some point he finds it in himself to murmur the word friend to merlin but he blames that on the wine and the late hour. then he finds out merlin has magic and it hurts. arthur isn't entirely sure why either but he knows it hurts to be around merlin, to hear him, to see him, but it also hurts to be apart. so he swallows it all down and sits with merlin to lay it all out. anyway time skip and he sees merlin as he truly is without all the hiding and lying and the fondness and protectiveness just continues to grow and grow and grow. he watches merlin cast spells and watches his eyes light up gold and gods isn't he just beautiful. no wait- okay he's in love and gods is he fucked because now he can't managed a damn sentence around the man and morning and evenings are torturous in the best way. merlin bodily dragging him out of bed, his touch never leaving as he strips him of his night clothes and dresses him for the day and sits him down at the table before sharing stealing his breakfast. at night he's much slower as he strips arthur, his fingers dragging across his skin and his words spoken low and soft. the sweet heat in his blood isn't new but the force of it almost knocks him on his ass.

just merlin being his usual enamored self while arthur is flooded with these feelings he couldn't name before but now that he knows just what they are, they lodge in his throat and block his words from escaping him, they block air from filling his lungs, and they keep blood from flowing through his brain. arthur shutting down while merlin is oblivious and concerned and pressing his hands to arthur's face and pulse and leaning in close and asking all these questions as his eyes shine with worry and this isn't helping-

disaster!arthur x oblivious!merlin is actually my new favorite dynamic. forget what i said at the beginning. this is it.

literally one of the top ways to tell me you do not understand nico di angelo. nico is not a stereotypical flamboyant effeminate gay man. he is very much far from it, and it would be especially strange for him to act anything similar to that for that part of his character arc. nico di angelo hated himself for being gay. he would have rather probably killed a man than admit he liked percy jackson! thus he would probably mask his queerness as much as possible (and wholeheartedly stray from the heteronormative perception of what a gay man is) so he would never be assumed to be one

viren starts to use dark magic -> he devotes himself to harrow because harrow makes him feel smart + powerful for his use of dark magic -> they commit atrocities -> harrow has a crisis of conscience in the face of his own mortality -> he tells viren to get to his knees and calls him a servant -> harrow dies -> viren devotes himself to aaravos because aaravos makes him feel smart + powerful for his use of dark magic -> they commit atrocities -> viren dies -> viren is revived -> he has a crisis of conscience in the face of his own mortality and decides to sacrifice himself for harrow's former kingdom and people -> in his final moments he gets to his knees and says "i am a servant". flawless arc honestly

I really and truly believe we need to see more of FSM’s enemies than just the Overlord and oni. They need to make this guy his own rogues gallery I wanna see who he would be up against that isn’t ultimate world-ending evil. I gotta know!!!
