Opening Doors: The Advantages of SRB Registration
Navigating legal standards and regulations in the corporate sector is essential for long-term prosperity. One such crucial step that many small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) neglect is getting Small Business Registration (SRB Registration). Let's examine the many advantages that SRB Registration provides for businesses as well as what it means
Comprehending SRB Registration
SRB Registration: What Is It?
companies operating within specific areas are required by law to register as small companies, or SRBs. It acknowledges SMEs as registered entities and is specially designed to meet their needs.
 What Makes SRB Registration Important
SRB Registration is very important for businesses because of the many advantages it provides. SRB Registration may offer SMEs a competitive edge in the market by granting them access to government contracts and tax rebates, among other benefits. Benefits of SRB Registration Obtaining Government Contracts The ability to access government contracts and procurement opportunities is one of the biggest benefits of SRB Registration. Dealing with small firms that are registered is given priority by many government organisations, which can lead to profitable contracts and projects.
Tax Incentives and Benefits
Businesses who register with SRB Registration are eligible for a number of tax breaks and advantages. These inducements frequently take the form of reduced tax rates, tax exemptions from particular categories, and discounts for particular costs. Businesses may efficiently lower their tax burden and devote more funds to expansion projects by taking advantage of these advantages.
Increased Marketability and Credibility
An organization's authenticity and reputation are attested to by its SRB Registration. It raises the company's profile in the eyes of investors, suppliers, and consumers and fosters confidence in its business practices. SRB Registration can also create new opportunities for networking and teamwork, which will increase the marketability of the company even more.
Process of Obtaining SRB Registration
Eligibility Criteria
Before obtaining SRB Registration, businesses must meet certain eligibility criteria, which may vary depending on the jurisdiction. These requirements usually centre on things like the number of workers, yearly turnover, and the type of business activity.
  Documentation Is Needed
To complete the SRB Registration process, businesses are usually required to submit a set of documents, including proof of identity, business incorporation certificate, tax identification number, and any other relevant certificates or licenses.
Application Process
The application process for SRB Registration involves filling out a prescribed form provided by the regulatory authority and submitting it along with the required documents. Information about the firm, including its name, address, kind of operations, ownership structure, and contact data, may be requested on the form.
Conclusion
In summary, SRB Registration is a strategic step that may open up a world of opportunity for small and medium-sized firms, not merely a legal necessity. There are several advantages to SRB registration, including increased credibility, tax benefits, and access to government contracts. Businesses may position themselves for long-term success and growth in a competitive business world by giving SRB Registration top priority.

FROM THE LOCAL SOCIALS:
"OTG can finally let the cat out of the bag on this amazing install. OTG just installed 56 panels for the new Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank Society. This 25.2 kilowatt array will produce a estimated 38,000 kilowatt hours a year. When all is said and done, the food bank won’t have a power bill for guaranteed the next 30 years. OTG could not be more thrilled to have one of our installs, result in a direct positive impact on the community. Best part is, with the new commercial rebates in effect, the foodbank will qualify for 15% off the cost of the install! Commercial and residential rebates are still in effect. Call OTG to book a site evaluation to see what we can do to eliminate your power bill today!" - OTG Power Solutions

Hi cheri! In mlqc, the beyond future event that was released in September had a promotion where if you spent gems on September 29, that you will be reimbursed for 20% of the gems you used to buy the shells and pearls once the event is over. Did you participate in that event? I ask because I haven't received anything and wondered if I missed the emails for the gems and I don't have any friends who play the game as well to ask. Thank you!
Hello~ Unfortunately I didn't participate in it :< You might want to contact the in-game customer service or email [email protected] ♡ Hope you'll be able to get your reimbursement!!
Update: Comment from the lovely @link4eva -
Hey! This is from the official MLQC FB page 💛:  Producers who participated in the [Bay of Memory] Rebate Rewards Event will receive the First Rebate [Gems] via email on October 18th.   And the Rebate Rewards for the remaining two times will be sent via mailbox on October 29th and November 11th.

Food Fantasy: An Analysis on what killed a Golden Goose (2/3)
Welcome back. Before we get started, disclaimers again! I do not own the game or its characters, nor do I claim to know the history and future of the game. What I am entitled to are the thoughts and opinions written within this post. You may or may not agree with the points spoken of here. This post also remains untagged from the main foofan tag. Only my followers will see this.
We are now on the second part, so let's go forward under the cut!
Elex
And here we have our beloved global publisher that most of seem to have Stockholm Syndrome for. Don't lie, at least half of us are still playing this damned game due to sunken cost fallacy, sunken time fallacy and the cute/hot jpegs.
In 2018, everything started out fine. Sure, maybe we had some translation mishaps here and there -coughwe'llgettothatwreckagelatercough- but overall, Elex was running the game fairly well. Rewards were on time, we had active social media and support, and a discord was set up!
Hint: Please note I use quite a bit of sarcasm in most everything I say.
And then somewhere along that road, things got derailed. And I mean it like, we're in the midst of a trainwreck in slow motion and we've only cleared the initial collision and still hurtling forward or backward into a steel wreckage ticking inferno.
Problems started cropping up as early as late 2018, just a few months after the game was launched in July.
⦁ Art contest mishaps. You know when you hold an art contest on Facebook out of all places with its shitty tagging system, you're bound to have entries lost to the void, people forced to register an FB account just to participate (seriously, who even has an FB account that isn't just there to appease family members?) and having to wrestle with figuring out how FB's tagging system works. Add to that the panel of judges happen to be Elex staff who don't have a good eye for good artwork (we actually had a kiddy figure drawing win over a well drawn one during the last contest!) and that they ALSO weren't very good at organizing such contests on FB... well, we had several grievances over that.
⦁ Region blocked FB announcements. Strangely enough, I stopped getting announcements around Father's Day of 2019 while everyone else outside of SEA kept getting updates. Turns out that someone on Elex's staff really didn't like SEA players or was just really bad at fixing the settings for the group and never bothered to revert it back. It didn't matter in the long run though, because...
⦁ Abandoned social media platforms. FooFan Twitter, FooFan Facebook... they all floated slowly into the void and was never heard from again. And this was before the 2020 pandemic.
⦁ Remember what I said about Discord? Yeah, apparently, they opened one up a little too early and the staff in charge of it knew zero about how to setup and mod a discord community, and didn't even have the manpower needed to mod the influx of members that came in! Suffice to say, they had to get help from top players and mods from the FB groups to come in and sort things out because someone kept pinging @ everyone every few seconds other than the usual chaos that comes from a server with no filters and people trying to turn the discord into Global Chat 2.0, minus Russian hours.
⦁ Also in line with the point about abandoned social media platforms, they've also mostly abandoned the discord too and only pop in once in a while to check the bug reports or lost accounts. You have a slightly better chance of response with the in-game support. Only slightly. And there's a running joke with several variations on the main discord that the Owner account of the discord server was manned by an intern-kun who never bothered to pass it on to the next unfortunate soul left to maintain this game.
⦁ Favoritism. Funtoy is also guilty of this but they don't publish the game for Global. If you're a top spender the likes of maxing out your cash rebates within the three months or so and you kept spending even beyond that, Elex could possibly invite you to a funky little club where your voice is more important than say... 99% of the playerbase. On top of that, if you keep spending, you could technically also ask for stuff like getting this frame over that frame, or well.... delay certain features from coming to Global for over a year. Now you can simp AND be heard! (Note: In 2021, it's possible that that club may be dead too, as all things shall be)
⦁ SJW Friendly. I don't know if Funtoy themselves have anything to also do with this particular decision... but it's saying something that after a certain little tiddy tantrum from the community side, Elex decided not to announce anything about a certain event's fate and when asked by it by other parties (not me) they either lie through their teeth, or beat around the bush with a non-answer.
⦁ Partial translations, mistranslations. Now, I understand that a lot of Chinese grammar and semantics are confusing to translate properly into several other languages, but you'd think Elex would have given their translators more context to the character or the mechanic to avoid such mistranslations that later set off gender debates or worded the skill/artifact description a little clearer. That is... unless Elex really is hands-off trying to get to know this IP from the start and only gave it the most bare minimum of English where they can cut costs for it, so people can understand it 'well enough' to throw money at an obviously not beta-read quality game.
⦁ No translations. Yes we do have certain parts of the game that are in Chinese since forever since xx patch. Some characters' voiceline texts are still in chinese, especially during the Pledge scenes. More recent artifacts are also in chinese with no announced translation in sight. And don't get me started on the Food Soul bios, or lack thereof.
⦁ Delayed events. Prime example? We had weeks of minor events/no events and still Elex managed to eff everything up for our second Anniversary in July 2020. We ended up getting the Croissant event in late August with barely any apologies and compensation for the delay... and this likely would have never arrived as 'early' as it did if people hadn't been railing about where our Anniversary event was. As it stands, we are several minor events behind CN, at least a year and a half's worth behind. I know Global had requested heavily for more spaced out events (to save resources, not that it actually worked with all the nerfed rewards we get) compared to CN but this is extremely ridiculous.
⦁ Delayed permanent features. Hm... Guild Wars, Sky Tower, Bar, that Wuchang Fish Showdown... several Quality of Life updates.... that new permanent pool update... Food Souls still missing their JP voice packs... Food Soul Bios... *slowly ticking off more than I have fingers and toes*
⦁ Customer Support is whack. You'd be lucky if you got someone who understood your problem/inquiry right off the bat AND did something about it efficiently. You'd be luckier if they answered you honestly if you were inquiring about event updates or other buggy features or reporting hackers.
⦁ The Great Turkey and Apple Incident of 2020. Well, if you were around for that little SNAFU during the Turkey re-run event, you'd know a percentage of people suddenly got logged out of their accounts and had a baller of a time trying to get their accounts back. You were especially unfortunate if you were playing on an iOS account because even if you did bind it (like a responsible player should be doing), you probably still wouldn't get it back in time to rank properly during Turkey. Some Android players also experienced this, but it wasn't as bad as what the iOS players experienced. And then there was the compensation mishap for that too.
⦁ Hacker-chan and not-so-uwu Hacker-teme. Hacker-chan is a meme. Hacker-chan was a harmless player who regularly topped in Top Showdown every week for a time to send a message to Elex just how easy it is to hack the game in certain rankings and invited Elex to ban them every time, just to test how competent Elex is. In the end, Elex has proven to be incompetent and also glaringly stupid about how their published game works. Hacker-teme is a collective of individuals over time who have cheated the game during important ranking events or in somewhat important permanent battles. If you tried to report a Hacker-teme with evidence to prove it -and trust me, people repeatedly have-, Elex would tell you that they're not cheating and/or lie through their teeth that they're 'investigating the case' and then not do anything about it and let them keep their event ranking and thus get the rewards while someone who actually worked hard/whaled hard to get the spot gets denied. In one case, they believe that if an account has rebate points and the player level is at least around level 80, then the hacker-teme is obviously playing the game fairly. Never mind that their units happened to have low to no artifact nodes opened, and not high in ascension.
And that is the end of the Elex saga. I'm aware there's likely more things about Elex that I've missed, but feel free to add on to this analysis post with your own thoughts.
The last part of this trilogy is probably what many of us are waiting for, for obvious reasons.

Life as a fake Amazon reviewer
Tumblr media
We hear a lot about how algorithms "radicalize" people, a semi-mystical process whereby "Big Data" and "Machine Learning" turn people into radical zombies who do whatever the system bids. In reality, it's a lot more banal.
Take Eli Reiter's journey into becoming a paid Amazon reviewer, posting inauthentic reviews to help vendors game the algorithm. He signed up for a site called Rebatekey, "which offers rebates between 5% and 100% in exchange for leaving a review."
https://onezero.medium.com/my-bizarre-stint-as-an-amazon-reviewer-for-hire-260bd6f7a8fa
He contacted Rebatekey customer service over Facebook Messenger. Facebook then tagged him as someone willing to write reviews for money. Even sleazier companies than Rebatekey send ads to people in this FB category offering them money for paid reviews.
That's it. That's radicalization. It's just targeting.
The median human buys one or fewer fridges in their life. Targeting fridge buyers is hard. The traditional method is stuff like billboards near airports.
These ads represent a crude targeting method: "People who fly have money. Fridges cost money. Put ads for fridges near airports."
It's not very effective. Almost no one who sees the ad buys a fridge. It's like a 0.000000001% conversion rate.
FB lets you target people who've looked up fridge reviews. They ALSO probably won't buy a fridge after seeing your ad, but their conversion rate will be more like 0.000001%, which is a thousandfold improvement over airport billboards.
Companies would be nuts to turn up their nose at a thousandfold gain, even if the overall effect size is very small. So FB gets a lot of ad dollars.
This works for any hard-to-locate trait: want to find people who believe gender is a spectrum?
That's there.
How about people who want to march through Charlottesville carrying tiki torches and cosplaying Civil War criminals? That's there too.
Finding people with hard-to-find traits represents a profound change in our discourse, politics and commerce, for good and bad, but it's not a mind-control ray, it's just targeting. Big Tech isn't made of super-geniuses who can help you bypass the public's critical faculties and get them to do your bidding.
Big Tech is made up of ordinary mediocrities like you and me who will help you find otherwise difficult-to-address target audiences and show them messages that they find compelling.
tldr:
Big Tech doesn't make people receptive to your message
Big Tech finds people who are receptive
This whole process also has a security dimension: when we are exposed to a new message, we seek out external indications of its validity: we read reviews, we look at Wikipedia entries, we check ratings with neutral observers.
These processes are imperfect, and what's more, their utility changes over time, illustrating one of the bedrock principles of security economics, a variation on Goodhart's Law: "Any measure becomes a target."
My favorite example of this is Google's early history: the Pagerank alogrithm Larry Page invented made a key observation: that pages that had a lot of inbound links were likely to be highly relevant, because relevance was the only reason for one page to link to another.
Pagerank TROUNCED every other search-ranking algorithm by slurping up all available web-pages and counting how many links went to each page on the web.
But making links to webpages isn't hard. As soon as there was a reason to link to webpages other than relevance (getting highly ranked by Pagerank), people made linkfarms to link to their pages and climb the ranks.
Over the years, Pagerank and "Search Engine Optimizers" have been in an arms-race in which Pagerank makes it more expensive to game its system, and SEOs discover cheap workarounds, and/or seek out higher-margin customers who don't mind paying to overcome the new barriers.
Which brings me back to Eli Reiter, writing fake Amazon reviews. Amazon customers rely on reviews as an important quality signal. Highly ranked items generate more sales, but when these items are actually low-quality, they generate returns and reduce trust in Amazon overall.
Amazon and cheap goods vendors have been locked in an arms-race forever. First it was authors creating fake accounts to say nice things about their own books. Then it was companies paying clickworkers to write reviews for products without buying them.
This gave way to "brushing" - sending terrible merchandise to random people so Amazon would accept a review from someone else:
https://www.marthastewart.com/1531369/mystery-amazon-packages-scam
Now scammers are paying people like Reiter to place orders for goods, accept delivery of them, and write reviews. The vendors who can afford this kind of expensive countermeasure must be commanding margins of sufficient size to make it worth their while.
Big ticket items sometimes generate these margins, as to high-volume items - but one of the most reliable ways to improve margins is to skimp on quality. Worse goods, made in worse conditions, yield excess rents that can be mobilized to generate good reviews.
That is, "every measurement becomes a target."

Hey bitches. Tip for those who like the thrill of buying on Amazon but can't really afford it: find product 'testing' sites that send you free stuff in exchange for reviews. Facebook ads, nice rebate, even directly emailing sellers are my major ways. (Yes, I feel bad about amazonig things, but) I make 2-3 orders a week and get that *new thing* dopamine rush at the cost of 20-30¢ per item. I've got about $2000 [RRP] worth of free stuff just this year. Not all of it is stuff you would buy [CONTD.]
[CONTD.] yourself and the majority of it isn't stuff you'd buy yourself or at that price so it's probably closer to $1000 in straight savings. But it's also allowed me to get stuff I wanted but could never justify ($200 badass lighting kit for a Lego set? Cool but oh boy unjustifiable. Had a relationship with the seller and just asked them very nicely to ship it to me. That took some work). Or saved me money on things I needed but resented buying ($100 on a dehumidifier? Eugh) [CONTD.]
[CONTD.] it's allowed me to pick up quite a lot of those cool things that make a minor QOL improvement but you can never really justify the $15-20 *now* and finally it's allowed me to get birthday presents for friends and family that would otherwise be wildly unaffordable. I've 'bought' friends/family $100 speakers, I've shipped friends USB dongles I know they need but can't justify. It makes for a good gift stream. And, if maintaining a relationship with a seller means I really have to [CONTD.]
[CONTD.] Review something for them I don't really want - there's always Facebook marketplace or the local charity shop.   Tips for aspiring people:   - Review everything you have already bought. Essential to start off. - The majority of my business comes through Facebook ads. So curate these. Search around the internet until the magic cookies do their job and then click on EVERY product testing add going until Facebook learns to serve you nothing but that shit. You can even [CONTD.]
[CONTD.] Often get specific items this way if you're patient. (use the evil capitalist tracking cookies for your own benefit)   - keep a burner Amazon account for low value shit. Make a few legit purchases to seed it and then anything that you wouldn't buy usually, put it on there. Decreases risk of your main one being review banned.  - each to their own but I have no moral qualms with 5*-ing a meh product just for the refund and then dropping that rating like it's hot the day after. [CONTD.]
[CONTD.] if a product is really shit, however, tell them you can't 5* it and they'll usually be v accomodating. Tell them you'll accept refund for no review, (review anyway after? Between you and your God), tell them to send you a new one, work that relationship.  - relationships are important. All the best stuff comes from repeat customers - gateway products are usually meh but once you have an in you get the good stuff. If you're communicating directly with the seller, go through their [CONTD]
[CONTD] Amazon page and just straight up ask them for stuff you like the look of. No harm in trying. Be polite, they're people too and you want them to like you.   - keep a spreadsheet that tracks your progress (order, item, price, seller, contact method, seller's FB name, reviewed Y/N, refunded Y/N, refund amount and date.). It will save your LIFE once you have more than about three things on the go at once I promise you.  - treasure the people who pay up front. Also don't be scared to [CONTD.]
[CONTD.] Ask for up-front payments once you've built a track record with people. Otherwise it becomes quite a capitally'.  Never hurts to negotiate terms.  I think that's all I got for you, so to fill space I'll give a top 6 happiest freebies to incentivise you all.   1. New $200 vaccuum cleaner. 2. Several $60+ speakers. 3. $200 Lego kit LED lighting set. 4. 2x dashcam for my/partner's car ($140) 5. 4x sets rechargable batteries (SO useful but $$$) 6. 8x smart plugs. Smart home on the cheap.
So we have no personal experience with this, but it seems like it could really be useful to some people. Good luck!!!
P.S. Next time write a post we can just reblog. ;)

Lockdown Diary Part 2
A personal account during the lockdown in the UK due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
23/03/2020 8:30pm Boris Johnson, UK Prime Minister, gives a live address to the nation to, effectively, put the country on lockdown to stem the spread of the deadly coronavirus strain, Covid-19.
Many of us have been self-isolating for days but this latest development within the UK in reaction to the pandemic feels very serious and very scary. I decided to keep a simple diary and where better but online.
Day 31: I went to Tesco’s at Hampton at @8pm. It was weird. But I made it less weird by buying (amongst all the legit stuff I needed and some stuff for Karen’s mum) more booze. I have, atm about 30 assorted cans and 60 assorted bottles. I’m gonna stop buying booze now until I’m down to the last dozen. I don’t want owt to happen and I leave many behind!
Day 32: More than a calender month! I was rung up by a recruitment agent today about a contract with DHL as a remote support engineer to their aviation section. €400 a day! I’ve applied. Few beers tonight, watching a new Netflix release (Extraction) and catching up with Fog, Ham, Andy and Rog later at 10:30pm - yikes, might be pissed.
Day 33: Typing this on day 34. Dossed around during the day, few beers and another video call with fog, Ham and Rig plus I invited John Monk along. He was his usual self and signed off from the call with a moonie! Later on I had the pleasure of Scottish Louise video calling me! She was pissed, in her shed drinking den at her home with some neighbour called Ronnie and her daughter Ellie. She was her usual outrageous self who imaprted such gems as “Tim, you look old” and “Roger on coke is the only time I’ve taken it up the arse”. Nice.
Day 34: Today I skyped Laurie and ‘met’ Matthew and Nicholas for the first time. It was bloody fantatsic. Janine was there as well.I cannot believe it takes lockdown (plus an idea to get Laurie to add me to his regular Monday skype chat with Dad) that managed to get us doing something that should have happened years ago! It was so great to talk to them all face-to-face. Janine hasn’t changed a bit, Matthew is very quiet with Nicholas being the more gregorious twin. And Laurie is still Laurie. I’m reminded of how much I sort of miss him! It was all so comfortable. I loved it! Tomorrow is Dad’s 85th hence the 3-way chat idea. I hope it comes off!
Day 35: So dad and Laurie and I skyped. It was OK but my video feed was very dark, (still dunno why) and Lauire’s kept freezing. I dropped out so as to leave them to it, my thinking being the extra person takes up bandwidth, with the promise I’d call dad later. Before I could, Rita called me and suggested Dad and I skype, which we did. So, all in all, a good day of comms! And Dad seems his happy usual self - 85 years old! Amazing.
Day 36: I am really struggling to motivate myself this week. Today, I’ve done fuck all of note. That is all.
Day 37: A similar day to yesterday. All I have really managed to do is lay down audio from Pink Floyd (Absolutely Curtains) to a video I shot of a cow on yesterday’s walk. I am having a downer of a week without any good reason why, ld aside. I have worn my new walking boots today (’cos my old ones are leaking, I found out yesterday) and they fucking hurt, despite having tried to wear them in for months, albeit pathetically. Also, a few days ago (Friday 24th April), I got notification from HM Revenue & Customs that I’m getting tax rebate (from 2018-19) of £392. Yay!
Day 38: I received notification today that I’ve got a speeding ticket…last Thursday back from Tesco’s - 87mph somewhere between the A1 and Elton. I am hoping it’s a fixed penalty. I dunno whether it is yet, I just have to send the form off confirming it’s my car and I was driving. I spoke with Lynda from Woodfords asking her to ask for a rent reduction before I sign for another year. Plus, I let her know that I will be Howard and Sue’s eyes as the look at rental properties in Oundle - I do hope they return although it would be a shame for them that their plans have been scuppered (she’s lost her job in Oz due to Covid-19)
Day 39: Today I started another piece of exercise - up and down the stairs 26 times. Not sure why 26 - it was some thing online to do with the London Marathon, I think. It fucking killed. I used 13 clothes pegs for a counting system. I asked Karen to pick up some stuff when she was shopping (burgers, radishes) - Dan dropped them off, He was with Shaggy (driving his van) and going to see Jonah. That pisses me off - they should be social distancing, ffs.
Discoevered, today, that Cornershop, post-Brinful are fucking excellent. listening to the album ‘England is a Garden’ as I type.
Day 40: That 26 times up and down the stairs is fucking hard. I did videos about it today. My legs are aching like fuck right now.
Day 41: Just done Young Sam’s (Sam Clews) quiz. 3rd week running and it’s now become a habit and something I look forward to. Out of all the internet driven socialising I’m undertaking in ld, this is the weirdest - I feel totally detatched from all others taking part but, now, would feel pissed off if I didn’t or couldn’t join in. I got 47/70 this week. My best score and only about 8 off the winning score  -  most others aren’t doing it on their own!
Today’s walk was a cloudy one - I captured some fine, dramatic pics of the clouds. I am getting into this photography lark, albeit very amateurish. But, when I post any pics online (mostly FB), they seem to be widely appreciated, which is nice.
Day 42: Applied for a remote service delivery job with a firm called TTEC. £60k. Finished watching The Outsider. The creepiest TV show I have seen in years. Really great use of background music.
Day 43: Finished Mindhunter S2 last night. It’s so good but I cannot quite put my finger on why. Today has been a nothing day apart from day 2 of me not typing the letter ‘e’ in any post or comments on FB for a week. It’s hard.
Day 44: Watch Anna last night. A Luc Besson film that starts a kick-ass suprermodel. It’s right down my street. Today I have been lazy af. I need to pick up my online learning again…tomorrow, maybe! I watched Andy Murray Resurfacing. A documentary on Amazon. Fantastic. What a top man he is. Completely human and completely inhuman!
Day 45: Much talk in the news of possible lockdown relaxation. I am off the opinion we should stay the course until we are completely assured of beathing this thing i.e. a working, widely available vaccine. Dad and I Skyped - he is doing well, as usual. So is Rita. They both seem very happy in lockdown! Today has been a glorious day, weather wise. I had my walkk at 10ish this morming and it was very warm. Hottest day of the year so far I reckon.
Day 46: Bank holiday Friday (75th anniversary of VE day). Nice walk. Chat with Karen letting her know about being caught speeding just in case I am banned and need some out of town shopping. Watched second episode of DEVS by Alex Garland. It’s good and intriguing. Now, @7pm, gonna eat and hit the beers and smokes.
Day 47: Typing this at 15:45 on day 48. I had lots of beers and a good old chat with Rog…
Day 48: Today’s daily press conference was eagerly anticipated today with rumours of a relaxation in lockdown. It seems it was a fuss about nothing with no clear instructions - I didn’t watch it but, skimming the BBC news site, I shan’t be doing anything different over the next few weeks, not that I would anyway - furlough and self isolation are the order of the day and I won’t change that until I am sure it’s safe. Meanwhile people, including Danny flaunt the rules, it’s been pointed out to me plus I know he spends time with Jonah and Marc. It really fucks me off. So, the actions of the few mean I will lock myself down for as long, if not longer, as it takes. Attended Sam Clews quiz again. It passes the time. Also, I had half a scotch bonnet chilli with tea tonight (roasted veg, cous cous and sausages). Ridiculously hot!
Day 49: Received the speaker I ordered a few days ago (from eBay). It’s an AudioPro Addon T10. I got it for a very reasonable price from a German shop. As a result, the power lead isn;t three pin and that has seriously fucked me right off!
Meanwhile, I did my 26 stair climb before my daily walk today. It was easier than usual (surprise surprise) and I did 7km - but that was tough! ‘Cos I am on (yet another) free trial of Amazon Prime, I am ramping up watching stuff available. Last night I watched Booksmart - really nice little film with a great soundtrack. I am listening to Dan the Automater as I type. Today I watched half (3 eps) of The Night Manager and the film ‘The Founder’. The former is a superb series, the latter an OK film about Ray Kroc - the supposed founder of McDonald’s. Except he wasn’t; he was the wrong side of ambitious and a cunt.
Day 50: Stripped the 2 pin cable from the speaker I received yesterday and wired up a 3 pin plug and it worked. Win. And it sounds great. Win-win. Went to go shopping in Hampton but the car wouldn’t start. Loss. But it was the battery so I managed to borrow Karen’s jump starter which worked. Win.
Spent £107. Loss. But just under £40 was booze plus £10 for two big pizzas, two sides (dirty fries) and some dips. Win. Didn’t do any online learning - seriously fucking letting myself down. Loss.
Did my usual walking and 26 stair climb. The latter is hard but defo getting easier. Win. Day 51: Sam’s 51st birthday on day 51 - coincidence! Today I received my face mask from Lou - House of Stewart tartan. I’m pleased with it and that I have got a mask now. I managed to get up at a reasonable hour, just left 09:00, and revisit my web design course. Module 1, lesson 5 and I am fucking stuck. Trying to code an online CV with a side nav bar and I cannot get it to fucking work. Grrrrrr. Later, i got into a FB dispute (easily distracted due to the above) with someone over his statement of fact (Tim Martin’s treatment of Whetherspoons’ employees) when he doesn’t know it’s fact. It probably is, but that is not the fucking point.  I wish I could leave these sort of spats alone. I am drinking, at 20:45, peppermint tea as I type. Jeez, what’s happened to me?
Day 52: Well, last night took a swift chnage. Rog message me and, to cut a long story short, I hit the beers, also called Foggy later, got trashed. I got up today at gone 1pm. Sam posted on fb that Paul had forgort her birthday yesterday. Oh dear! The 26 stair climb and walking each day is noticeable for how knackered my legs feel all the time, I noticed today!
Day 53: My birthday! Nice comments and banter of FB. Rachael brought round a bottle of whisky; gobsmacked. Karen popped round some beers and sausage rolls. Sam sent a card, as did dad with a £50 cheque. Dan’s ordering me a pizza later.
Chuffed! Day 54: I went to bed late after a lot of beers, huge pizza and chips, a few smokes and a long call with WWJ and video chats with Fog then Rog. Got up around 1pm and dossed with my usual exercises and I made fish pie with a scotch bonnet. Day 55: Late one last night but up early today (11ish). Really fretting about hospital tomorrow. Nervous anyway but the safety aspect, in terms of Covid-19, isn’t helping.
Day 56: Hospital appointment was just for an eye scan so the consultant can review it. I was very surprised to see how few people were wearing face masks! I did two lots of washing today. (After the hospital) I went to Morrsions, Asda (queue too long though), B&M (queue too long though) then Tesco’s. All to buy a baseball cap ‘cos I’m fucked if I’m going to wet my hair each time I go out and want it to look presentable! In Morrsions (no mens’ clothing apart from underwear!) I stocked up of 10 cans of sugarfree apple Caraboa….I was only thinking of this drink just the other day. Yesterday I finished The Night Manager on Amazon. I liked it a lot but, also, expected much, much more from it consdiering the hype. Hugh Laurie has come a long way from comedy sketches with Stephen Fry!
Day 57:Received an email from Sueanne yesterday asking ( as designated spokesperson for everyone) how I am. The most interestring piece of news in a rather uninformative email was that the US has started to open resorts!
Day 58: I am writing this on Day 59. I started a two walk a day regime. The first walk I do is shorter, around 4km. my aim is to be ready for 1,000,000 steps Diabetic UK challenge (throughout July, August and September). I need to do just under 11,000 steps a day. The relaxation in ld rules makes this achievable. On that score, I am allowed to visit a friend’s house, as long as it’s just the two of us, outside, 2m apart. I went round Karen’s last night. I was desperate to have a Happy Hour (I allow myself a midweek beer - today (well, yesterday) is/was Wednesday!) of sorts with another human (rather than a video chat). I was there for about 2 hours, very enjoyable, and then came home. Then I had usual roasted veg with rice and sausages but I couldn’t eat it. I used half a scotch bonnet rather than the usual birdeye chillis. It was too hot, had to sling it! Had a few more beers and, hence, neglected my diary duties!
Day 59: It’s 01:20am. I don’t know why I am still awake and up, but I am. But, also, I am now going to bed. Nothing else to report, really.
Day 60: Half way through 12 weeks furlough. I was discussing this with Dad and Rita earlier - I am expecting that, at the end of 12 weeks, I’ll be laid off. I hope I’m wrong but I reckon it’s well on the cards. Off to have a beer round Karen’s in a sec which will be pleasant. Just a hour or so. It’s fucking windy today so I shall wrap up!
