Bruh what the fuck is up with fasfa this year?? It’s baffling to see most schools literally don’t know how to process/never got their students fasfa. The school I’m going to has yet to process mine and is still making it seem like I HAVE to pay for the courses I’m planning on taking?? Like no, yall have to hurry that shit up cause people are poor and NEED this to go to school. Like the whole thing makes it seem like fasfa didn’t inform the schools that they were planning on changing the form, not to mention the form excludes things that made school cheaper for people(ie. People within the same family getting discounts and shit) but honestly if my school refuses to get this shit figured out what do it do? Cause I can’t pay for the courses and if they won’t honor the fact that I submitted my fasfa I guess I’ll take the semester off but wouldn’t a lot of other students be in the same boat as me??

If you have too much money they don't want to help you because they enjoy feeding off of you.

If you have too little money they want to keep you to seem like their an angel in disguise.

And for those caught in between, there are no benefits. You're on the verge of poverty and also just barely scrapping by.

PSA to anyone else who is consolidating their student loans rn and also applying for income driven repayment plans at the same time….

EVIDENTLY most of those IDR applications aren’t submitting with your consolidation requests (even tho you’re prompted to do them together at the same time)

Which means along with your letter of “congrats your loan consolidation has been approved!” you may also get a second letter saying that the default repayment plan amount (the 10 yr one lol) is due. And you may have a panic attack bc there is no way in hell that is 5-10% of your discretionary income, and you went on a IDR plan bc you can’t afford the 10 yr one.

Do not panic! Call your servicer to put your new loan in processing forbearance and resubmit a new IDR plan request with federal student aid. You should be good to go.

Signed, someone who is supposed to be paying zero dollars and zero cents and got a bill for almost $400 due in 10 days and almost threw up but got it all sorted out after spending an hour and a half in the phone
