Alright, I've postponed this reading for way too long because I wanted to watch Prospect before, and now that I did watched and did read this whole story ... I've felt many things.

It's been weeks since I've read this, because work caught me, but this story never left my mind.

I relate to birdie so much, being lonely in the big city, having so much to share but no one who'd or could've like it ... but no chance to have an Ezra 😭💔 I've felt so seen reading those parts, it felt like reading my diary

And they're so sweet, the 3 of them, honestly, but Ezra's being this sweet and in love with her ... I've got breathless with all of his POVs.

It leaves a kind of bitter ending, with them being away for each other, but it's also so beautiful because they're mature enough to understand what's best for them personally, to their own growth.

Once again, Kelli, thank you for sharing such a lovely piece with us, thank you for your writing and bringing so much joy through it. 💖

I read a lot of words this year. A LOT. 🫣

~8 million words (yes, I kept track 🤓 for S&G) that made me laugh, cry, feel squishy, inspired, and continue to live rent-free in my brain. Below are some of the words I loved the most. I love them. I love this mellow build.

It would be so daunting, being with someone who's had so many someones. Even if they weren't special someones. Feeling like your life wasn't exciting in comparison. Wanting someone so soon after being hurt. And then wanting someone who's also going through a big life change themselves. What a concoction of strangeness to start a relationship on.

And yet, they're just both so willing to ease into things and be gentle with each other and it's so nice.

I love how nervous he is when he shows up. It's really fkn cute.

Hey everyone, this is just an idea that randomly struck me. I joined the fandom fairly recently in 2022, but as we all know, our numbers have well and truly exploded since TLOU aired.

We are incredibly lucky that our fandom has a massive treasure trove of fics written by so many amazing writers in the last few years, especially for pre-Joel Pedro boys that new fans are now discovering. However, new readers will probably have hard time finding these fics because nothing about Tumblr is set up to efficiently find any fic, let alone 'older' fics published months and years ago.

Since there's been such a huge influx of new readers in the fandom who may be looking for new-to-them 'old' fics to read, I thought it would useful to start a list of writers who have been writing for Pedro boys since before TLOU aired to connect newcomers to ‘older’ fics. I'm starting with writers that I have personally read or know of, but please do drop me an ask or a DM if you would like to add or be added to the list (or removed from it)!

You sat up straight, the pew in the church your cousin’s son was being christened in not allowing you to sit any other way lest you sit in a way inappropriate.

Ezra, on the other hand, seemed less concerned with what was appropriate. He was sitting back, finding a comfortable position low on the pew. His head rested on the rounded, worn top of backrest and his legs were spread to an indecent degree. 

You weren’t sitting in the back - you were sitting in the second row. Among other family members, Ezra's laid back comfort was not going unnoticed by those around you. You nudged his knee with yours. 

“Yes, dove…”, he murmured, the back of his fingers gently touching your shoulder as he warmly watched your cousin ahead, holding her son with the pastor. 

“Sit. Up.”, you whispered sharply back, leaning down slightly.

“Hmm?” Ezra turned his head slightly, looking up at you from the corners of his eyes.

He saw the warning look you gave with raised brows, and he shrugged a ‘what?’ in response.

You huffed and leaned down to whisper in his ear. “Sit up now and stop spreading your legs. It’s… it’s indecent.”

“Indecent?”, he whispered back, brows contorted in confusion. 

“You’re in a church. Sit up now.”

As you sat back upright, foolishly assuming the conversation was over, and turned your gaze back to the front of the room. Ezra grinned at your profile and spoke a little louder than the whisper you had spoken to him in. 

“If the good lord did not intend for me to sit at my leisure in his house then why on earth allow his children to fill it with pews this long and gift me with a titan’s girth?”

Your eyes widened, feeling mortified. Your elderly great-aunt, sitting in the pew in front of you, turned slightly, looked at you then at Ezra. Her eyes darted down to his crotch in a fleeting glace and her brow raised in approval. She then turned back around, shifting in her seat.

You were never going to live this down.

Note: I brought the energy from a marathon housecleaning session to my drafts today, found this little abandoned snippet from ages ago and hated to see it go to waste. Lost my taglist. Hope somebody finds this and enjoys it.

He’s stretched out in bed when you come back from the kitchen, golden skin burnished by the glow of the lamp perched on his night table.

He has a book propped on his bare chest, practiced fingers deftly turning the page and supporting its weathered spine at the same time. You smile at the concentrated furrow of his brow, the almost imperceptible movement of his lips that he’s not even aware of.

Ezra’s eyes stray from the book to find you in the doorway, warming with the spark of unguarded delight that tells you plainly he’s still a little in awe that you’re here, that he’s not going to wake up from a happy dream and find himself in an aurelac pit on some Kevva-forsaken moon.

“My angel of mercy appears.”

“So dramatic,” you tease, crossing to the bed to offer him one of the steaming mugs you carry as he closes the book on the night table.

He only grins, carefully cradling the mug in his hand before sipping the hot tea inside.

Balancing your own cup, you slide between the sheets on the right side of the bed.

Your side.

It had been his only request, the first time you’d shared a narrow, rickety cot in a wretched prospector’s tent, to leave his lone left arm free to reach for you — To lie frustrated in my desire to hold you is a fate too cruel to bear contemplation, dear heart. Now it’s second nature, a steady, silent reminder of your care in the nightly ritual of seeking his embrace.

“How’s the book?” you ask, blowing on your tea.

“Welcoming, as an old friend should be.” His smile is a little sheepish, and you crane your neck to look at the well-worn copy of The Streamer Girl.

You press a gentle kiss to his bare shoulder. “You’re missing her.”

“I do sometimes feel her absence keenly,” he admits. “But her letters, however brief, assure me that my bright little bird is thriving in her studies.” He sets aside the half-empty cup and slouches into the covers, shifting to turn toward you. His warm, calloused hand settles on your thigh with an appreciative stroke. “And I am likewise thriving here in our little haven, with you.”

The apartment isn’t much more spacious than the pod you’d sold to buy it, but no place has ever felt more like home. The cheerful curtains you made from a remnant of fabric Ezra had seen you coveting screen out the city’s glaring lights to shelter you in your cozy cocoon. Ezra’s precious books, annotated in his spidery left-handed script, are stacked neatly on the tiny table in the main room. Clippings of plants from your travels put out delicate roots in recycled jam pots and medicine bottles, and the scent of fresh bread you’d baked that afternoon lingers in the air.

The rich can have their mansions. You only need this warm bed and the man in it.

You smile and comb a silky tuft of blond hair away from his temple with your fingers, watching the corners of his dark eyes crinkle with affection.

“There’s no place I’d rather be,” you say, and mean it.

I love this one sooooo much. It’s written so well. I don’t know much about Jango Fett but he’s pretty cool in this fic, and Ezra trying to act like a normal 10 year old is great too. This particular fic is finished, but the author is currently adding more to their series if you feel like reading those too!

The other End of Destiny by Dghom4him

Mace Windu WAHOO!!!! This one is fantastic!! Ezra in this is sooo fun, and like I said earlier, Mace Windu! Need I elaborate more?? (Cool implied Wildspace adventure stuff too cause I’m always a sucker for that)

The Ghost of Our Future by PadmeNaberrie

I think this one is on hiatus or something, but it’s totally worth a read regardless! You get some different POVs which is super cool and the plot really keeps things tense! Love the way Kanan and Ezra’s dynamic is written in this fic and so far the stuff with Maul is very exciting!

You Enough to Try (To Build a Better Life) by AndiinaRaethTash

Okay, I will admit, the whole “Ezra being a Skywalker” thing is not my cup of tea. But literally everything else about this fic is, and it’s sooooo worth reading! Some lovelyyyy character dynamics and drama in this one. It’s also complete!

Okay, what’s super cool about this one is that I read it like, seven months ago and I can’t remember what happens in any detail at all. It’s also long as balls. It’s also not a time travel fic??? More of an alternate universe thing, but I’m putting it here cause to me it counts. Anyways. Brilliant read. Binged the whole thing (so far, it’s still being written I think) in two days and was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Ezra is written so cool, and we get so many other characters too, like Thrawn, Luke, and Leia! Brilliant stuff. (Oh, also skybridger !!!)

one of my absolute favorite din fics. the worldbuilding and din's creature form is incredible. i love a horror au that's flipped on its head. i also love the "creature is also the hunter" trope and this does that incredibly well. the atmosphere is off the charts.

god, i don't even know where to begin with this story. it's so raw and visceral and i can't say enough how much i enjoy it. i love reading something new and especially if it's coming from a male perspective. this is, unfortunately, something i could see frankie getting up to. frankie is such a deeply tragic character and this fic does that justice in a dark, but really intriguing way.

ok, this one actually made me cry. i'm not sure if it's my own sleep-deprived ass that caused it but this is probably one of the most beautiful but sad fics i've read in a long time. i mean all of this in the best way because i don't normally get emotional from fics. prospect as a movie makes me emotional, though, so it doesn't surprise me that this did as well. it's such an incredible missing scene that i can, unfortunately, see absolutely happening. have some tissues nearby.

So I was going to do the 'Ezra is the unexpected virgin' inversion when I first saw the ask - but the whole point of this exercise is to fill the prompt in a way you don't expect so I had to be even more creative. Hope you still like it.

"You are familiar with the new arrival from the Ephrate? Employed in the medical facility?"

You sighed, staring into your gruel before looking up to meet Ezra’s eyes. "Yes, I saw her."

Ezra lifted a leg over the bench and sat, brows furrowed in thought. "It just so happens that I secured an evening with said lady."

"Good for you Ezra." You were pretty sure your gruel just moved and frankly that was taking up all of your concentration.

"It is indeed. I have only one issue."

"And that is?"

His voice dropped to barely above a whisper. "I may need a slight bit of guidance."

Your eyes shot up to him. "In what?"

Eyes darting around furtively he leaned closer. "My lady has never known the touch of a man."

"Doesn’t drive stick? Good for her."

Ezra glared. "I mean, she has never known the touch of anyone. Not in a carnal way at least."

You snorted. You were trying not to laugh. Really you were. "And you want me to help you talk her into it?" Your answer was no, in that case. If this woman wanted to be involved with Ezra he could do it himself.

Ezra ran a hand through his hair, disturbing the light blonde streak. "She is… amenable to my charms. I just worry… I’ve never been with someone as untouched."

"Ah," you stabbed your fork into your gruel. Whatever was in there was certainly dead by now. "And what do you need me for? I’ve never been with a virgin either."

Ezra looked around furtively. "Keep your voice down. And I wouldn’t expect that you have… I was rather hoping you might have some… advice. From your own experiences."

"Are you…" Your eyes darted around and you leaned closer. "We’re not having this conversation here. Meet me in the arms depot in an hour."

You didn’t clean yourself up in advance of meeting Ezra. You didn’t. Yes, you washed your face but you always did that. And maybe you changed into a clean shirt but that was something you always did at the end of the day. You liked the feel of clean fabric on your skin at night.

The airlock startled you out of your thoughts. Ezra entered, closing the door quickly and then removing his helmet. He stripped his suit off quickly and hung it next to yours near the door. Raising an eyebrow he gestured at the small stools and you quickly joined him by the work table.

"I do appreciate you taking the time for this," he said softly. "It has been quite an age since I have had this sort of opportunity."

"I caught you fucking that guy from ops behind the tool corral just last span."

Ezra glared, "I have had my chance to engage in encounters as I see fit. But they were use and use alike. This is not… it has been a long time since I had the need to gentle my hands." He paused and you saw his eyes tighten. "I have considered if I still know how."

You couldn’t help but look at the hands in question. Large, scarred, roughened by years of work. There was a slight bend in one finger, testament to a badly healed bone who knew how long ago. You swallowed. They were nice hands. Hands you had thought about on more than one lonely night - but Ezra had never looked at you that way.

"What-" the word came out a croak and you anxiously cleared your throat. "What were you planning on doing?"

He blinked and leaned sideways, resting an elbow on the table. A small smirk tugged at his lips. "I was not aware you would need a refresher on the mechanics of such acts."

You rolled you eyes, turning to hide your face from how flustered he got you. "I mean… you said you were going to, uh, gentle your hands. So why don’t you tell me what you normally do and I’ll just point out places you might want to be… gentler."

He titled his head like he was studying you before he leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees. "Well I usually start with a kiss."

You swallowed. "Kisses are good."

He nodded slowly. "I might secure my hands into the person’s hair and tilt their head just so," he mimed the motion with his hands and your eyes locked on them. "A neck is a glorious thing is it not? For tongues and teeth."

"Maybe not teeth," your breath was shakey, the words barely making it out. "I mean, that early. A lot of people like that but it might… scare her off."

His hands dropped to his lap again and his shoulders hunched. "I see."

"It’s not a no!" You were quick to reassure him. "But I’d test the waters first."

Nodding he made a small frown. "After that… I am generally concerned with undressing as much as is necessary for our consummation."

"Oh." The syllable lingered in the air. "Yeah, that would be… fast. For someone’s first time."

"You see my concern," he sighed, leaning back on the stool. "I know a thousand ways to bring someone to completion with my tongue and hands - but that’s only if I can gain access to their most private areas."

A thousand? You gulped. You knew of maybe six, tops. Eight if you were a little liberal with your definition of completion.

"Ok," you said it more for you than him. "Ok. Well first, this isn’t going to be some quick fuck out behind the tool corral. Take your time, go someplace quiet."

"I had considered the possibility of my tent."

"That’s … good." Out here in the Reaches, inviting someone into your tent was an intimate act. It was the only place that was truly yours - and its borders were jealously guarded. He must really like this girl. "Private and a horizontal space."

He nodded.

"As far as… all I can really say is take your time. You sound like you know what you’re doing… just do it to places you might not expect."

Oh Kevva, please let him not ask questions.

"Such as?"

Fuck. "Well," you held you arm up, turning it over to show the inside. "This area is very sensitive. It gets ignored a lot but you can-" You cut yourself off because Ezra had reached out and taken your wrist with one hand, the fingers of his other lightly stroking up your forearm.

"Here?"

"Yes," you squeaked.

He watched you thoughtfully, slowly dipping his nails into the crook of your elbow. You shuddered and he made a slightly pleased noise. "Any others."

"Well you already said the neck but-" Oh prophets he was stroking your neck now. How were you supposed to think? "But also the inside of the thighs - not there but the lower parts - that can be a deeply erogenous area."

He hummed softly, moving to stroke just above your knee. "Like here?"

"Yes."

You could feel every one of his fingers through your compression leggings. If he moved any higher he was going to know exactly how much his hands were affecting you.

"It seems to me," he said conversationally, "that a woman’s entire body is an erogenous zone." You nodded and he hummed again. "Fascinating."

"So is a man’s."

Ezra’s hands paused and you met his eyes. "Pardon?"

"So is a man’s. It’s just… there’s so rarely enough time to… I mean it’s not like it usually takes much so there’s not…" you were babbling and you bit your lip to stop yourself.

"Fascinating." You nodded. You didn’t know what else to do. He was still stroking his hand on your thigh. "Are there any other secrets of the female form I should be aware of?"

"They’re not," Kevva would he stop that? "They’re not secrets, just… knowledge."

"Knowledge I fear I have been lax in acquiring."

"You know a thousand ways to bring someone to completion," you pointed out. "This is probably superfluous."

"Never." Suddenly he moved away from you, his hands slipping into his pockets as he stood and backed up a step. "I thank you for your help in this matter. It was quite… enlightening."

"Of course." When had it gotten so hot in here? "Anytime."

Anytime? You kicked yourself when he left, turning and dropping your forehead to the workbench. Anytime? What kind of lame ass response was that?

You groaned and stood up. Maybe you could find a reasonably attractive man to rail you behind the tool corral.

The next evening’s gruel looked exactly the night before, only a slightly more beige shade of green. You contemplated it thoughtfully, wondering if this one would move too. When it didn’t you cautiously dipped your spoon into it.

"I have a new puzzle for you, if you have the time."

Ezra slid onto the bench across from you, hands folded neatly in front of him.

"If it’s your first time with a Klaxxion go for the knuckles. They love that."

He blinked and then grinned. "I shall keep that in mind. No, I have a different issue I was hoping you might assist me with."

Kevva when had you become Ezra’s sex therapist? "Ok."

"There is the lady I have an interest in."

"Another?" That might have come out a little judgmental but… "I hope you were at least up front with your friend last night. All things considered she might have had some expectations."

Ezra glared. "I have not partaken in the nurse’s delights. She is no longer of interest to me."

"Wow, you’re fickle."

He glared again. "As I was saying, I have an interest in a particular someone - and have for quite some time - but I have been unclear whether my interests were reciprocated."

"Have you asked?" you pointed out. "I find most people in the Reaches are pretty okay with being upfront."

"I am asking now."

You froze, eyes on the gruel. It was moving. Not that that seemed to matter. Your eyes met Ezra’s. "You are?"

"I have, from the start, believed that you have no interest in my attentions. But after our… interlude last eve I feel I may have been mistaken." His fingers drummed on the table and he looked away. "If I was correct in my assumptions I promise to leave you to your meal. You have been a friend to me and I would not want to lose that for-"

You launched yourself across the table, pressing your mouth to his and thrusting your tongue inside. He caught you, holding you close, meeting your tongue with his. When you broke away he leaned his forehead to yours.

"I believe I am reading this situations correctly now?" You nodded and he smiled. "In that case would you care to come to my tent? I have learned some things about the human body I am positively eager to put into practice."
