a lot of the time, i feel a physical disconnect from the idea of Butch. im barely average height, i have soft features, ive got a pronounced chest and despite never shaving in my life im barely hairy

a while ago, i went to build a bear and chose a white cat with pink and purple markings and big pretty eyelashes. the only clothes i gave her was a blue plaid shirt. i gave her a scent pad in her chest that smells like birthday cake. she left that store without a name, because they didnt ask and i didnt see the dumb little computers.

she is much like me, in the way that she is physically feminine in ways she cannot change (at least not without extensive work). i dont think ill ever go on t, but i wish so much about me was different. i thought about calling her cupcake for a while, but this name feels more apt. were both evolving. obviously wearing plaid doesnt make her butch, but shes symbolic of me in a sense.

Official Description

One of the Master Detectives dispatched to Kanai Ward. Her Forte is Carnivorous Autopsy. She is known for her upbeat disposition and her natural sweetness. She’s just as quick witted as she is quick on her feet, which is rather fast.

Appearance

Lady is a woman of average height and her build is a bit slender. Her skin is a warm ivory color and her eyes are bright pink, with her irises designed to look like a peppermint swirl. She has three long lashes on each eye, possibly eyelash extensions. The rest of her eyelashes are long, but are shorter than the extensions she wears. Her hair is caramel brown and medium length, stopping at her shoulder blades. It is styled in a half up, half down style as she wears a ponytail in the back, which is held in place with a pink bow.

Lady’s attire consists of a pink corset minidress, the skirt and bodice of which are decorated with a white lace design. The bodice of Lady’s dress is decorated with a white lace trim and has a small red bow in the middle, and the corset of her dress is a lighter tint of pink, and is tied in the back with a red ribbon. Underneath the skirt of Lady’s dress is a short, white petticoat with a white lace trim, and her dress is held up by pink spaghetti straps. Over her dress, Lady sports a white capelet sweater with an off-shoulder neckline, and is held in place with a white and pinkish-red button which looks like a peppermint. On the left side of her sweater’s neckline is a badge for the World Detective Organization. The cuffs of her sweater are rather long, as they cover part of her hands. Lady wears sheer white stockings and she sports red mary jane shoes, which have gold heart buckles as fasteners and little bows in the back. The soles of her shoes have two slits in them in order to retract the built in roller skates they have.

Personality

Lady is a very lively and energetic person, and has been shown on several occasions to be unable to sit still. She is often shown to talk very fast as well, thus adding onto her energetic and hyperactive nature. To kill time, she bakes all sorts of baked goods to share with all the detectives in the Nocturnal Detective Agency. Along with this, she herself has a rather strong addiction to sugar, often being depicted with candies and cookies as snacks. She also drinks coffee and tea with lots of sugar, making its sweetness repulsive to the other detectives whenever she offers to make coffee or tea for them. She tends to speak in sugary metaphors, sometimes even referring to the other detectives as specific desserts she associates with them. Despite her bubbly and friendly nature, she also has a bit of a sharp tongue, being quick to call things as she sees it. Lady also has a habit of making half-assed guesses, only for them to be entirely correct, which is something she chalks up to her weird luck.

In contrast Lady’s friendly nature, she becomes insistent on being alone in her investigations whenever her Forte is involved, even attempting to avoid the topic of her Forte as a whole. She usually says it’s rather useless, knowing full well her Forte can collect crucial evidence to the cause of death of the victim. However, the reason she hates bringing up her Forte is due to its side effects. She always avoids the topic of her Forte by responding immediately and quickly. She also has a tendency to start meowing and knocking things over to serve as a distraction from the topic at hand. Due to Lady’s inability to sit still, she is always either in the agency’s kitchen or she’s out in the streets of Kanai Ward, rollerskating. She also states that she never sleeps, and that she believes she must keep one eye open, where she references what happened to her home, which used to be a café she ran alongside her adoptive grandmother. Because of her past, Lady is adamant that she help the families of victims by solving the case and treating them with nothing but kindness.

Forensic Forte

Carnivorous Autopsy — One drop is all that is needed to consume, being able to tell the cause of death, mode of death, manner of death, and state of health through the taste of blood.

Lady’s Forte can gather information to the cause of death for a victim by consuming the victim’s blood. However, she uses her Forte as a last resort due to its side effects. When she uses Carnivorous Autopsy, she faces hallucinations, which are but not limited to: watching the victim’s carcass moving, auditory hallucinations, feeling the physical pain the victim went through. These hallucinations always cause Lady to have a panic attack after using her Forte.

History

When Lady was a kid, she was homeless and alone, resorting to eating fresh roadkill she found or digging through trash in order to survive. After a certain amount of years doing so, she was found by an old lady who owned a café and was taken in. As a way of showing gratitude for being taken off the streets, Lady insisted she work for the old lady at the café, learning how to bake and clean in the process.

During her time at the café, Lady found a pair of roller skates and came up with the idea of providing a delivery service for the cafe. It was during one of these deliveries that the café had burnt down five minutes after she left, and she also managed to gain semblance of her Forte while investigating what happened after the fire.

Do you think the ”femininity” and ”masculinity” and all the behaviors and personality traits commonly associated with them-and by extensions, of course, being inherent to women and men…do you think it’s all simply a social construct, a (strikingly) different way of upbringing or do you personally believe men and women are indeed different and those categories sort of formed themselves naturally because of it. I've answered this before and my answer mostly comes down to "socialisation is so strong that there's essentially no way to be sure", which I absolutely still believe but I don't think I've been clear enough in the past that I personally do believe that it's a fairly safe bet that there is a huge biological component to men's higher propensity towards violence. That's based off the crime statistics being skewed that way in literally every single country on the planet, studies linking testosterone and violent crime (although those are by no means conclusive), even violent behaviour in non-human mammals being different between sexes.

The problem is that humans are smart enough to be influenced by our own observations. So it's virtually impossible to observe our behaviour under truly neutral circumstances to begin with, and attempting to then leads to conclusions that further influence our behaviour in the future. A man who may or may not have been naturally inclined towards violence is inevitably influenced by a society that teaches him that he's displaying "masculine behaviour", that men can't help it, perhaps even that acting this way is what defines his value as a man.

To take a less debatable example of appearance, society observed the natural differences between men and women and then amplified them into absurdity. Most women have less bodyhair than most men, so removing bodyhair became a way of "amplifying femininity", and now we have people who genuinely aren't aware that healthy adult women can have dark hair on their stomach and legs without having any kind of hormonal imbalance (or secretly being a man). Women's eyes sometimes appear larger than men's because on average, we have less prominent facial bones meaning our eyes visually take up a larger proportion of our faces overall. So makeup that makes your eyes look more prominent became another way of "amplifying femininity", and now a huge proportion of the population thinks that women naturally have fuller eyelashes than men, or that we physically have larger eyeballs. Same logic can be applied to women with visible muscle mass, women above a certain height, etc. We took descriptive patterns and made them prescriptive, in my opinion to the great detriment of society. It would only make sense for the same thing to happen with natural variations in behavioural patterns, to whichever degree they exist.
