মেয়েরা রাত দখল করো: THE NIGHT IS OURS
WOMEN RECLAIM THE NIGHT, JUSTICE FOR RG KAR VICTIM
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
let's do our part in protesting against the brutal rape and murder of RG Kar PGT doctor who was on a 36 hour shift on Friday, 9th August when she was resting alone in a room. please read the entire post even though it's long.
if you don't know what happened, the 31 year old woman had been gang raped (both before and after murder), and tortured to such an extent which cannot be explained. afterwards, the authorities and police first tried to cover it up by telling her parents it's a suicide but later it was revealed not to be so. it is a case of rape and homicide.
(i) speculations are that the girl had possibly become privy to some unlawful work going on at the hospital during night shifts, and hence to silence her, all this was done.
(ii) parents were refused to be allowed to see their daughter's body until after 3 hours of their arrival. they had to beg and plead for their basic rights.
(iii) what's more is that her body was burned by the police without taking the consent of her parents, possibly to erase evidences in case a second post mortem was to be done.
(iv) the girl's father has also reported to the high court, the fact that the DGP called him up and asked him not to take matters forward and just settle it amongst themselves.
(v) the person who has been arrested for this incident is speculatively just a scapegoat who has been paid to take the blame for something done by a larger group of people, probably under the protection of the syndicate ran in West Bengal by the government.
Post Mortem report of the victim (which again, was conducted by RG Kar doctors themselves, and we don't know if some details are intentionally being hidden or not
The postmortem report of the trainee doctor raped and murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital revealed that she was throttled to death. Her thyroid cartilage was broken due to strangling and a deep wound was found in her private parts, the four-page report said. Sources said the murder and rape likely took place between 3 am and 5 am on August 9.
Injuries were found on her belly, lips, fingers, and left leg. Sources said the victim's nose and mouth were clamped, and her head was pushed against a wall to prevent her from screaming.
The scratch marks on the woman's face are believed to have been caused by the accused's fingernails, indicating that the victim desperately tried to fight back.
"The mouth and throat were constantly pressed to prevent screaming. The throat was strangled to suffocate. The thyroid cartilage broke due to strangling," the postmortem report said.
The report also mentioned that the woman was bleeding from both eyes, mouth and private parts. The report said the wounds in her private parts were caused by "perverted sexuality" and "genital torture". However, the reason for her eye wound has not been determined yet.
Source of the post mortem
so today (14th August, 2024) at 11:55 PM IST, there is going to be a midnight protest held across Kolkata. women protestors have planned to hold night long agitation across multiple spots in the city. the campaign titled 'Women, Reclaim The Night: The Night Is Ours' is aimed at seeking justice for the sexual assault and murder of the woman doctor. Men have also decided to join the protest in large numbers to show their solidarity with the cause.
The protest will take place simultaneously at the Jadavpur 8B Stand, Academy of Fine Arts, College Street, Sinthee More, Dunlop, Maldah English Bazaar, Siliguri (Darjeeling More).
i know it isn't possible for many of us to attend the protest but let's do our part virtually if not physically. share posts about the incident on your social media, with your friends, relatives. take part in the online campaign going on in social media. at 11:55 PM IST (14th August, 2024) tag your posts with #womenreclaimthenight and #thenightisours.
make this tag trending on all your socials. share this post to raise awareness. share all other posts related to this incident. with the tags i wrote above.
spread the word to your friends and relatives, do your part this way. indians and non indians, both alike. male, female, non binary, all genders, all alike. raise your voice before it's too late.
because the next victim could be you or any of your loved ones.

Neurological Emergencies: When to Get Urgent Medical Help
Tumblr media
The nervous system of our body has a complex set of functions that involves all the nerves, brain, and spinal cord. Any health emergencies affecting this system can be considered neurological emergencies. Sudden or acute onset of any neurological disorders can lead to such urgent situations which need to be diagnosed and treated by an experienced neurologist in Siliguri.
You must know that delayed recognition and treatment of these conditions can lead to life-threatening complications. Timely management and thorough neurological consultation are the key measures that can help you manage neurological conditions effectively. Herein, these measures will reduce the likelihood of poor functional recovery and paralysis.
Warning Signs Indicating Neurological Emergencies
The symptoms of neurological emergencies vary from person to person. It highly depends upon the underlying neurological conditions leading to the severe situation. However, some of the most common signs include loss of balance and coordination, severe headaches, tingling sensations in the legs, face, and arms, and blurred vision.
In some chronic conditions, patients may also suffer from paralysis or one-sided weakness along with loss of consciousness. Some people also face extreme difficulty in speaking due to slurred speech. If you or your near ones are suffering from any of these conditions then without any delay visit Star Hospital, the best neuro hospital in Siliguri.
Types Of Neurological Emergencies Requiring Medical Attention
1. Seizures- Seizures are one of the most common neurological emergencies which happen due to sudden bursts of electrical activity inside your brain. Various types of seizures include generalized and focal seizures. If the seizure is accompanied by heat exhaustion, high fever, or stays for more than 5 minutes then it is considered an emergency.
2. Stroke- An ischemic stroke is a serious condition requiring immediate medical help. This condition happens due to reduced or blocked blood supply in certain parts of the brain. As a result of this, your brain cells start to die which can lead to the symptoms of visual impairment, trouble speaking, headache, and weakness.
3. Myasthenia Gravis- Myasthenia Gravis is comparatively a rare neurological emergency that can make certain muscles of your body tired and weak. It can affect your eyes, neck, face, limbs, and throat muscles while creating problems with swallowing, breathing, walking, seeing, and holding things.
4. Guillain-Barre Syndrome- This is an exceptional autoimmune disorder where your immune system starts attacking and damaging the nerves. The initial signs of this disorder are tingling or weakness in the feet and hands. If this condition is not treated by a reputed neurologist in Siliguri then it can lead to complete paralysis. You must seek immediate medical help if the tingling sensation is spreading throughout the body rapidly.
5. Head or Spinal Cord Injuries- It is also important for you to seek immediate medical attention if you have suffered a head or spinal cord injury or trauma. Whether it is an open or closed injury, you need urgent treatment to control the complications associated with concussions. Altered consciousness, vision changes, vomiting, reduced movement, and incontinence are some of the conditions indicating serious injuries.
6. Subarachnoid Haemorrhage- Subarachnoid Haemorrhage is considered a severe neurological emergency as it can cause serious bleeding between the subarachnoid space and the brain. Permanent damage to the brain and even death can happen if this condition is not managed at the right time.
Rapid Treatments Offered To Manage Neurological Symptoms
Time is the most important thing while handling neurological emergencies. The main thing that the team of neurologists will do is evaluate the condition and offer medications or oxygen support if the patient is suffering from seizures. After stabilizing the patient’s condition, the doctor may recommend certain diagnostic tests to identify the underlying health issues.
Some such tests include MRI or CT scans. Furthermore, based on the results of these tests, a proper surgical intervention or medication will be advised to treat the condition. This will also help the patient to prevent any further medical emergencies. Herein, blood pressure monitoring and certain lifestyle modifications will also be advised.
Ways To Prevent A Neurological Emergency
You must know that not all of the neurological emergencies can be prevented. However, you may reduce the likelihood of certain issues by following certain effective measures.
The first and foremost thing that one must adhere to is to follow a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet and regular physical activity. This will help you to maintain proper blood sugar and pressure levels.
It is also important for you to avoid excessive alcohol consumption and smoking as it can increase the chances of neurological issues.
You must also take the necessary precautions and wear helmets while indulging in high-risk activities. This will help you to avoid any serious injuries involving the nervous system.
Neurological emergencies occur without any prior warning. This is why contacting the best neurologist near you immediately after recognizing the symptoms is important to alleviate any irreversible damage. Treatment approaches for different neurological issues are different and your doctor will know the best method to offer you a speedy recovery. Don’t hesitate to call 1800 123 8044 (Toll Free) / +91 80010 06060 to get immediate medical support.

Relief & Recovery: Intestinal Obstruction Treatment
Tumblr media
Your child may suffer from many diseases and intestinal obstructionis one of them that needs immediate medical attention. The pediatric doctor treating your child can determine the presence and extent of any blockages.
Bowel obstruction may be regarded as an emergency needing urgent care if the blockage is severe. The most effective course of intestinal obstruction treatment in Siliguri for clearing the blockages is often surgery.
What Is Intestinal Blockage In Infants?
A blocking of substances in the intestinal lumen, which includes the colon and small intestine, is known as intestinal obstruction.
Intestinal blockage may be caused by a variety of factors, including diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, hernias, colon cancer, and fibrous bands of tissue that get lodged in the abdomen after surgery.
Over time, chemicals in a stagnant intestinal lumen caused by intestinal blockage provide an environment that bacteria may assault, resulting in a host of grave issues, including intestinal necrosis and even death.
Intussusceptions are the most prevalent cause of intestinal blockage in children under three years old. Because children's digestive systems are still developing, if they have a blockage in their intestines, they should be sent to the hospital right away so that physicians may treat it and prevent further complications.
Bowel Obstruction Types
Bowel blockages are categorised by medical professionals according to which intestine they affect:
Obstruction of the small intestine: About 80% of blockages occur in the small intestine. On one end, it joins your stomach, and on the other, it joins your big intestine. Your small intestine breaks down food and takes in water and nutrients from it, in addition to transporting food and liquids to your big intestine.
Large bowel obstruction: The colon and the rectum are parts of your large intestine. It carries on the small intestine's first stage of nutrition absorption. Moreover, it turns food and water into excrement that passes for stool. Approximately 20% of intestinal blockages are caused by large bowel obstructions.
Identification Of Intestinal Obstruction Treatment In Children
Intestinal blockage is diagnosed using the following tests and procedures:
Physical Examination
Your doctor will question your symptoms and medical history and perform a physical examination to evaluate your condition. If you have a lump in your belly, are swollen or sore, or both, the doctor may suggest intestinal blockage. He or she may also listen for bowel noises using a stethoscope.
X-ray
An abdominal X-ray may be recommended by your doctor in order to confirm the diagnosis of intestinal blockage. However, ordinary X-rays are not always able to detect intestinal blockages.
Ultrasound
When a kid has an intestinal blockage, ultrasonography is often the recommended imaging modality. An ultrasound of a child with an intussusceptions usually reveals a "bull's-eye," which is the intestine coiled within the gut.
Barium Or Air Enema
A barium or air enema enables improved colonoscopy imaging. For certain suspected blockage reasons, this may be the course of action. The doctor will use the rectum to introduce liquid or air barium into the colon during the operation. An air or barium enema may effectively cure a child's intussusception, negating the need for further care.
CT, Or Computerised Tomography
Cross-sectional pictures are created during a computed tomography (CT) scan by combining a number of X-ray images obtained at various angles. Compared to a typical X-ray, these pictures are more detailed and are more likely to reveal an intestinal blockage.
Consult with your pediatric surgeon for the best intestinal obstruction treatment in Siliguri to get help if your child is experiencing signs of a bowel blockage. People tend to wait out discomfort, believing that seeking medical attention would be overreacting.

Common Causes And Symptoms of Bell’s Palsy- Explained
Tumblr media
Bell’s palsy is a health condition that leads to the development of sudden weaknesses in one side of your face. This condition can occur at any age and may lead to severe inflammation and swelling in the affected side. The facial paralysis is often temporary and can be treated successfully with proper diagnosis.
If you are experiencing any symptoms of facial muscle paralysis then you can contact the best ENT doctor in Siliguri. The doctor will run physical examinations first to check whether you are suffering from complete or partial weakness in the face.
Given below are some of the most common symptoms and causes of Bell’s palsy.
Symptoms
The key symptom of Bell’s palsy is facial paralysis that happens on one side of the face. This can make your facial parts such as the corner of the mouth, forehead, eyelid, and eyebrows look drooping. The common symptoms of this condition often come suddenly and can become severe within 72 hours.
Proper diagnosis and treatment during the initial 48 hours of facial paralysis help reduce the risk of developing permanent symptoms and total face paralysis. Another common symptom during the initial period includes a heavy and numbing feeling in the face, where it may become difficult for you to blink or wrinkle the forehead.
The other probable symptoms associated with Bell’s palsy are difficulty speaking, drooling, sensitivity to high volumes, dry eyes, ringing in the ears, loss of taste, and headache. Without early diagnosis, the condition can become severe with the warning signs of chronic pain near the ears and fever.
One must also consider the fact that the above-mentioned symptoms of Bell’s palsy can also be similar to other serious disorders such as stroke. This is why it is essential to seek the guidance of the top ENT specialist in Siliguri immediately to determine the causes of the paralysis.
Causes
Genetics- If a person is suffering from recurrent attacks of Bell’s palsy then it can be associated with genetics. In most cases, these recurrent attacks are rare but if they happen then there is a chance of family history of such attacks. Familial Bell’s palsy is often harder to diagnose and treat as compared to the normal ones.
Weakened Immune System- Another probable cause of this health condition is a weak immune system. A weak immune system due to certain underlying complications can trigger Bell’s palsy attacks hugely. Some of such disorders that can weaken the immune system include physical trauma, stress, and sleep deprivation.
Inflammation In The Cranial Nerve- The compression and severe inflammation in the seventh cranial nerve is the main cause of the condition. This cranial nerve is the main part that carries all the nerve signals for controlling facial expressions and movements.
Viral Infection- Certain viral infections can be the key reason behind the development of cranial nerve inflammation and Bell’s palsy. The diseases that can cause this face paralysis are COVID-19, herpes, chicken pox, and respiratory illnesses.
Visiting the best hospital in Siliguri will enable you to get the most effective diagnosis and treatment for Bell’s palsy. The common treatment options that the doctor may recommend include antiviral drugs, decompression surgery, corticosteroids, and physical therapy to normalize the facial movements.

Gallstones Do Not Necessarily Require Surgical Removal
Your gallbladder is a small organ located behind your liver that stores bile, a green-yellow fluid that aids digestion. Discomfort can arise when something, such as a gallstone, blocks the bile duct. Gallstones occur when bile materials, such as cholesterol, solidify. Gallstones might be asymptomatic or undetected. However, if these stones become lodged in an air duct, you may have a gallbladder attack.
A gallbladder strike may cause pain in the upper right or center abdominal area, or [the discomfort] may go to the back and become a general pain. Although the reasons and symptoms differ, consuming fatty meals can usually cause these signs and symptoms to appear.
Laparoscopic surgery hospital Siliguri: Other indications and symptoms of a gallbladder attack include:
· When you are touched, you will have stomach inflammation.
· Bloating in the abdomen
· A yellowish tone to your skin or the whites of your eyes
· Vomiting, belching, or nausea
· Chills or a high temperature
What the doctors at the laparoscopic surgery hospital Siliguri suggest that changing your diet to one that is low in saturated fats, sugar, and carbohydrates, but high in fiber and calcium, aids in lowering bile focus. Excess weight is also a major predictor of gallstones, therefore keeping a healthy weight and exercising frequently can help reduce cholesterol, which can contribute to the formation of gallstones. If symptoms worsen, surgery to remove the gallbladder may be indicated.
Gallstones may not always necessitate surgery, but those with persistent symptoms should be aware of the challenges associated with more serious disorders, so it is critical to consult with your doctor from the laparoscopic surgery hospital Siliguri to see if surgery would be useful. The hazards of symptomatic gallstones include severe cholecystitis, pancreatitis, or cholangitis (due to enlargement in the gallbladder, pancreas, or liver).
Bottom Line:
If you have excessive cholesterol, a family history of gallbladder disease, or are experiencing symptoms of gallstones, consult your doctor about available treatment options.
