Penjual dan pembeli saling berinteraksi di atas jukung (sebutan perahu kecil) yang berayun karena gelombang air sungai. Inilah keunikan dan daya tarik pasar terapung Lok Baintan yang terkenal itu.

Di atas jukung yang mereka naiki, ibu-ibu yang biasa dipanggil acil ini terdengar riuh seraya tak henti menawarkan barang dagangannya. Sementara jukung mereka penuh dengan barang dagangan seperti buah mangga, jeruk, pisang, sirsak hingga srikaya. Jukung-jukung lainnya mengusung macam-macam wadai (sebutan kue dalam bahasa Banjar) seperti kue cincin, apem, buras, putu mayang, lapat, jagung besumap (jagung kukus). Ada juga kelotok (sebutan perahu yang lebih besar) yang menjajakan makanan khas Banjar yaitu Soto Banjar, Ketupat Kandangan dan lain-lain.

Penjaja wadai dan buah di Lok Baintan

Harga dari barang yang dijajakan acil-acil ini tergolong masih dapat dijangkau – semisal jeruk 10 biji seharga Rp30.000, sirsak Rp25.000 hingga camilan macam wadai yang hanya seharga Rp2000/biji. Uniknya selain wadai, harga buah-buahan, ikan, daging ayam ataupun sayuran masih bisa ditawar. Memang barang yang diperjual belikan tidak jauh berbeda dengan pasar-pasar yang berada di daratan, perbedaan dan keunikan di pasar terapung ini semua transaksi dilakukan di atas perahu. Suatu pengalaman yang berbeda tentunya.

Dalam sejarahnya, pasar terapung terbesar di Banjarmasin sebetulnya berada di daerah Muara Kuin. Pasar terapung ini berada di atas sungai Barito dan menjadi ikon wisata kota Banjarmasin. Seiring perkembangan dan pergeseran budaya ke arah yang lebih kekinian disertai dengan kemaruknya pembangunan daerah yang selalu berorientasi darat, menjadikan pasar terapung di Muara Kuin semakin hari makin ditinggalkan dan menjadi hilang. Eksotisme pasar terapung Muara Kuin hanya tinggal puing pembicaraan saja. Padahal pasar terapung yang mulai menggeliat sejak selesai subuh hingga lepas pukul tujuh pagi ini menyimpan berjuta eksotisme. Matahari yang baru timbul menyeruak di ujung Timur dengan semburat warna jingganya mulai menyinari sungai Barito dengan hilir mudik jukung dan para acil menjajakan dagangannya, sangatlah manis untuk dibingkai ceritanya.

Ketika aku melakukan perjalanan ke Banjarmasin dan menyempatkan diri menuju ke pasar terapung Lok Baintan, kondisinya masih cukup ramai. Tampak hilir mudik jukung yang didayung oleh para acil di sekeliling kelotok yang aku tumpangi. Pasar ini masih tetap dipertahankan eksistensinya, walaupun saat ini banyak pembeli yang memutuskan berbelanja di supermarket di tengah kota dengan pertimbangan lebih praktis.

Jukung yang mendekat menawarkan dagangannya

“Pak, jeruknya pak! Wadainya boleh dicoba, pak! Atau mau pisang?” teriak seorang acil kepada salah seorang penumpang perahu kelotok.

“Saya mau kue apemnya, Cil. Berapa 10 biji?” teriak penumpang di kelotok.

“Rp20.000 saja,” jawab acil segera memasukkan 10 biji kue apem ke dalam kantung plastik seraya menerima lembaran uang tunai dari pembeli.

Pagi itu aku menyaksikan sebuah sejarah masa lampau seperti terulang, ketika sebuah sungai dan pasar dijadikan sebagai pusat perkembangan dan peradaban masyarakat Banjarmasin. Di pasar terapung ini konon kabarnya masih menerima sistem barter atau pertukaran barang antar pedagang. Hanya saja hal ini dilakukan tidak setiap hari, hanya pada waktu-waktu tertentu. Uang tunai tetaplah sebagai alat pembayaran yang sah.

Di tengah peradaban yang serba modern dan cepat ini, keberadaan pasar terapung mendapat ancaman yang cukup besar dalam beberapa tahun terakhir.
