I have always loved this shot from the Very First Captains' Meeting we see in Bleach. Between some combination of Early Kubo Art Rizz and the fact that he hadn't exactly nailed everyone's aesthetic yet, everyone looks sublimely scrungly.

Anyway, I was delighted to find that the anime gave us a companion shot for the lieutenants, a loving pan over These Sure Are Some Individuals.

Bonus! The manga panel this is based on doesn't have quite the same degree of charm (or the full roster) but they did Mike Wazowski my boy Iba, and I am incredibly charmed by this.

i think monarchy and aristocracy should be nationalized like the parks system. the "good" aristocrats have already done this with their land voluntarily, like the current Lord Dunsany has aggressively rewilded his land and, iirc, made it accessible to the public as a park. i also think they should be installed in their castles etc as live-in caretakers with a reasonable wage and the houses open to the public as museums and art collections (with everything that's been plundered returned to the country of origin, but this leaves a lot of English art and treasure that should be housed and maintained and accessible to the people). make them into decorative hermits who putter around in tweeds, and retain the staff of the houses with enough people to care for the building and contents. they have a skillset and it can be used for the common good. as much of a hard ass as i am i don't actually want to firing squad most of these people, and i think art and architecture has innate value to the proletariat. Norway has a little flag that goes up at the castle when the king is "home", i think that's cute

not to be about opera again but to be about opera again. as an art form it has the reputation of being super stuffy and something for snobs who don't know how to have fun only but honestly this was one of, perhaps even THE main theatrical entertainment for centuries. i wish people knew how hard these things can go and how engaging they can be. like characters kill and die and fight wars and (almost) commit human sacrifice left and right. characters fall in love they mourn they're ecstatic they cry they're furious it's an extremely dramatic and emotional art form! and i understand that opera does not appear approachable bc of the general conventions of the art form but i promise old works can be fun and engaging if you go watch them with some preparation beforehand (reading the libretto helps) - not to mention not all operas are old bc there are so many modern operas which engage with topical events! also the music slaps.
