Evette Ward's Search for Love - A Bachelorette Challenge!
Aspiration: Good Vampire | Occult: Vampire | Age: Young Adult | Traits: Active, Loves Outdoors, Horse Lover | Pronouns: She/Her | Likes: Piano, Painting, Alternative Music, Pet Lovers, Spirited Sims, Deep Thoughts, Small Talk, and Discussing Interests | Dislikes: Mischief, Mixology, Pop music, High Energy Sims, and Potty Humor
Evette, second generation heiress of the Ward Name Game legacy, knows she needs to find someone to join her in her journey, but she doesn't know a single man that fits what she wants in a partner for life. She is hoping that by having an open "casting call" for men, perhaps she can find someone to hold her heart. She hopes to find someone that understands that while she is a vampire, she is also a lover of the countryside and longs to move to Chestnut Ridge as soon as they start their life together.
Submitted Sims/Reserved Spots
Jonas Anderson (bakersimmer)
Pierce Windstorm (cowberry-jam)
Arthur Cross (amelettes)
Trick Okeke (morgynemberisagenderfluiddaddy)
Vicente Martinez (falsetochild)
Inho Mathis (daisydezem)
.
Info on how to enter below if you're interested. 💜
First off, a disclaimer: I have NEVER done a bachelor(ette) challenge before in my simming life. Well, I did one back in TS3, but it was literally only my own sims. 🤷🏻♀️
Aging will be off temporarily during the BC
Male sims only - and that means trans men can enter too
All occults allowed - except werewolves since they tend towards hatred with vampires
Young Adults only
All sims will be using my default replacements - if your sims come with replacements, just know they'll be changing
No romantic traits or aspirations so everyone's on the same playing field
I will be looking for between 5 and 7 sims
Please give sims at least one outfit per category!
On those lines, any amount of CC is welcome - I am a CC hoarder. Maxis Match hair is required (I realize that technically Evette's hair is Alpha, but it can pass as MM - Alpha hair that's MM passing is fine), but clothes can be MM or Alpha. Also, please include the CC in the download!
I have all expansions, all game packs except Batuu, Paranormal Stuff, Nifty Knitting, Tiny Living, Moschino, Laundry Day, Toddler Stuff, Kids Room, and Move Hangout Stuff packs, and Desert Luxe, Carnaval Streetwear Kit, and Incheon Arrivals Kit
You can do any amount of backstory you want to do - since the Name Game is primarily gameplay that I don't even caption half the time, I won't be talking much about their background.
Feel free to make a post about the sim, or dm me about them; the download can be private or public, doesn't matter to me. <3
Everyone is welcome to enter!
Also: Evette prefers non-exclusive relationships. She wants to find someone to share her life with, but she would prefer it to be a non-exclusive relationship. And as such, she will likely keep in contact with the contestants that get eliminated - and will likely have babies with at least 1 or 2 of them. So even if your sim doesn't win, they might still father the next generation heir. 😉
If you want to submit a sim but can't get to it right away, please feel free to ask me to reserve you a spot!
When entering, if you post publicly about your entry, please use the tag #namegameBC or #evettebachelorette
DEADLINE: August 11th at 11:00 PM PDT(may be removed if I get enough sims before then, or extended if I don't get enough sims)
If I don't get enough submissions, I will just do an extra short version of the challenge, haha.

@lilliankillthisman expressed interest in hearing the outline for Hanged For a Lion, my notional Twig divergence fic. So that's what this post is. Major spoilers for Twig up to Arc 14, and minor ones up through the epilogues.
Arc 4 - Stitch In Time - Early Winter 1921 - Divergence Point
Gordon gets to Fray first, and gives her enough information about Sy's selfdestructive contrarianism - probably going into the backstory thing where he ran away, realized it might get the others killed, and then got his mind wiped when he came back - that Fray manages to pitch Sy effectively on defection. Immediate complications: 1) Gordon doesn't actually understand why Sylvester would have both left (making future escape attempts harder) and also come back (not even getting himself out), which eats at him, and might interfere with pitching. 2) Ashton might get cancelled if the Lambs defect too early.
Not sure how to resolve 1 - I might just have to write it, which I keep putting off because I'd have to reread early Twig first - but for 2, I have two ideas: the Lambs pretend to be loyal for another six months while both sides make preparations, and Fray bribes Sy by promising to make Evette.
Arc 5 - Slip of the Tongue - Late Spring 1922
The Lambs are being deployed more broadly, while they and Fray - and behind the scenes, Hayle - are preparing for their defection. I'm not sure what this means in practice, but probably they kill fewer rebellion doctors and arrange to get some of their support equipment captured.
Mary decides to force the issue with Sy a full arc early; thanks to Fray's example, she actually manages to corner him into admitting he likes her.
The nobles also have a lot more of a presence here than in canon; they're fundamentally battlefield commanders, socially, and the war arc is the obvious place to focus on them.
Arc 6 - Down to the Wire - Summer 1922
Mary is pregnant, Jamie is breaking down, it's time to go. The plan had been to fake their deaths in the field, but there isn't time for that anymore, and the backup plan is somewhat derailed by the revelation that Percy has been kidnapping babies to turn them into ninja prostitutes.
I'm not sure how this arc finishes in practice. The Lambs are more interested in killing Percy and shutting down the Ghosts than in tracking down Avis and blowing her cover, and they also want as many of Jamie's exobrains as they can escape with. Possibly they get separated? Possibly they have to fight a Noble or six on the way out.
Arc 7 - Skin of the Teeth - Summer 1922
Following directly from Arc Six, Radham mounts a chase to capture or destroy the Lambs. The Hangman gets deployed for this. There is a train battle.
I'm also not sure how exactly I want Jamie to work, which is probably one of the things I need to do a reread for.
Maybe there should be an interlude arc or something, to establish the new status quo? Fray's group has very little written about it, is the biggest problem.
Another big question is whether Fray tells the Lambs where little Nobles come from. Given that they were secretly built as next-gen prototype Nobles... maybe? I really need to think about their relationship in this thing.
Arc 8 - Born Unto Trouble - Spring 1923
Fray has followed through on her promise to make Evette, and successfully this time: Evette is a Primordial. Primordial-spawn, theoretically, but she hasn't actually given up her biogenesis powers, just her easy shapeshifting.
Mary's baby is due. Her name is Ruth, as an unsubtle hint about what will happen if anyone hurts her. (I don't know where I'm going with this. It just seems like the natural progression of Sy/Mary being a thing.)
Also, it's just about time for the canonical Brechwell Summit, which might be disrupted by the Lambs having acted differently in Whitney? Playing defense against the assassins sounds like fun, though, and Petey the bodypuppeting rapist baby is... personally a victim on par with the Heartbroken, and also a problem on par with the Heartbroken. Possibly we skip this one; it's the one time Wildbow actually squicked me out.
Also, this is about when Ashton gets decanted. There's a lot going on in this arc. I don't know if he actually gets involved yet?
I can't actually plan past this, since there are too many important unknowns (mostly who the heck Fray is as a character and how she relates to the Lambs). But I do have some neat arc titles and a plotline I very much want to see:
Arc... 9? - Birds of a Feather
Mary meets the Falconer, possibly after tracking her down specifically. The Rebellion becomes a full-on civil war.
Other arc titles: Bite the Bullet, Belly of the Beast, Elephant in the Room, Dog in the Manger, Body of Evidence.
Things to address: The Academy's insane scorched-earth tactics, the macroscale politics, possibly who made the Exorcist rifles.
Epilogue - A Hundred Years a Sheep
To be honest a lot of my vision for this story is directly because the arc naming scheme allows for some amazing wordplay, and inverting that Mussolini quote I learned about from a Tumblr recounting of a Twitter account tricking Donald Trump into quoting Mussolini definitely counts.
Thematically, though, it's got to be about prioritizing long life and happiness over ambition, and also a peek into the future of the setting. I like it. :)

I have a theory that world by us was only created because of the backlash of Kira's release, much like what they did for goty gabriella. what are your thoughts about this since ag coincidently talked about it as soon as people got mad about kira being another blonde?
Not sure I believe this. I certainly think that the diversity and more left-leaning messages of the World By Us line is a money-making decision rather than a goodness-of-our-hearts decision from a big company like Mattel, but I don't think the timing would line up.
American Girl trademarked Evette's name in November of 2020, so they were already thinking about her character and design well before filing the paperwork. They also trademarked Makena and Maritza in October of the same year, well before Kira was even announced to the public.
Now it's time for me to nerd out about toy/product development because this is a field of work I want to go into:
I couldn't find a timeline for American Girl doll product development, but one Barbie doll takes between 3-18 months to go from development to release. That includes the time to propose, plan, prototype, pilot, manufacture, market, and transport any new Barbie products before they hit shelves. Most Barbies only have one outfit and maybe a couple of uncomplicated accessories to go with them.
Now factor in the time for the rest of an AG doll's collection, all the things that a singular Barbie doesn't have: historical/background research (whether for a modern or historical collection), books, illustrations, extra outfits, extra accessories, furniture, girl-sized clothes, etc. Plus, I imagine that AG had a lot of prototyping to do on the new hair texture that Evette has and possibly on Makena's hair styling. Innovation takes extra time.
Even with Mattel's AG development team working at top speeds, the process would still probably take longer than the roughly 10 months between the reveal of Kira and the release of World By Us.

I’m Abandoning Body Positivity and Here’s Why
In short: it’s fatphobic.
“A rallying cry for a shift in societal norms has now become the skinny girl’s reassurance that she isn’t really fat. Fatness, through this lens of ‘body positivity’, remains the worst thing a person can be.” (Kayleigh Donaldson)
• • •
I have always had a lot of conflicting opinions about the body positivity movement, but it’s much more widely known (and accepted, go figure) than the fat liberation movement, so I often used the two terms interchangeably in conversation about anti-fatness. But the longer I’ve been following the body positivity movement, the more I’ve realized how much it has strayed from its fat lib origins. It has been hijacked; deluded to center thin, able, white, socially acceptable bodies.
Bopo’s origins are undoubtedly grounded in fat liberation. The fat activists of the 1960s paved the way for the shred of size acceptance we see in media today, initially protesting the discrimination and lack of access to equal opportunities for fat people specifically. This early movement highlighted the abuse, mental health struggles, malpractice in the medical field, and called for equal pay, equal access, equal respect, an end to fatphobic structures and ideas. It saddens me that it hasn’t made much progress in those regards.
Today, the #bopo movement encapsulates more the idea of loving your own body versus ensuring that individuals regardless of their weight and appearance are given equal opportunities in the workplace, schools, fashion and media. Somehow those demands never made it outside of the ‘taboo’ category, and privileged people would much more readily accept the warm and fuzzy, sugar-coated message of “love yourself!” But as @yrfatfriend once said, this idea reduces fat people’s struggles to a problem of mindset, rather than a product of external oppressors that need to be abolished in order for fat people to live freely.
That generalized statement, “love yourself,” is how a movement started by fat people for the rights of fat people was diluted so much, it now serves a thin model on Instagram posting about how she has a tummy roll and cellulite on her thighs - then getting praised for loving her body despite *gasp!* its minor resemblance to a fat body.
Look. Pretty much everyone has insecurities about their bodies, especially those of us who belong to marginalized groups. If you don’t have body issues, you’re a privileged miracle, but our beauty-obsessed society has conditioned us to want to look a certain way, and if we have any features that the western beauty standard considers as “flaws,” yeah! We feel bad about it! So it’s not surprising that people who feel bad about themselves would want to hop on a movement that says ‘hey, you’re beautiful as you are!’ That’s a message everyone would like to hear. Any person who has once thought of themselves as less than beautiful now feels that this movement is theirs. And everyone has insecurities, so everyone feels entitled to the safe space. And when a space made for a minority includes the majority, the cycle happens again and the majority oppresses the minority. What I’m trying to explain here is that thin people now feel a sense of ownership over body positive spaces.
Regardless of how badly thin people feel about their bodies, they still experience thin privilege. They can sit down in a theater or an airplane without even thinking about it, they can eat in front of others without judgement, they can go the doctor with a problem and actually have it fixed right away, they can find cute clothes in their size with ease, they do not suffer from assumptions of laziness/failure based on stereotype, they see their body type represented everywhere in media, the list goes on and on. They do not face discrimination based off of the size of their body.
Yet diet culture and fatphobia affects everyone, and of course thin people do still feel bad about the little fat they have on their bodies. But the failure to examine WHY they feel bad about it, is what perpetuates fatphobia within the bopo movement. They’re labeled “brave” for showing a pinch of chub, yet fail to address what makes it so acceptably daring, and how damaging it is to people who are shamed for living in fat bodies. Much like the rest of society, thin body positivity is still driven by the fear of fat, and does nothing to dismantle fatphobia within structures or within themselves.
Evette Dionne sums it up perfectly in her article, “The Fragility of Body Positivity: How a Radical Movement Lost Its Way.”
“The body-positive media economy centers these affirming, empowering, let-me-pinch-a-fat-roll-to-show-how-much-I-love-myself stories while failing to actually challenge institutions to stop discriminating against fat people. More importantly, most of those stories center thin, white, cisgender, heterosexual women who have co-opted the movement to build their brands. Rutter has labeled this erasure ‘Socially Acceptable Body Positivity.’
“On social media, it actually gets worse for fat bodies: We’re not just being erased from body positivity, fat women are being actively vilified. Health has become the stick with which to beat fat people with [sic], and the benchmark for whether body positivity should include someone” (Dionne).
Ah, yes. The medicalization of fat bodies, and the moralization of health. I’ve ranted about this before. Countless comments on posts of big women that say stuff like “I’m all for body positivity, but this is just unhealthy and it shouldn’t be celebrated.” I’ve heard writer/activist Aubrey Gordon once say that body positivity has become something like a shield for anti-fatness. It’s anti-fatness that has been repackaged as empowerment. It’s a striking double-standard. Fat people are told to be comfortable in their bodies (as if that’s what’s going to fix things) but in turn are punished when they’re okay with being fat. Make it make sense.
Since thin people feel a sense of ownership over body positive spaces, and they get to hide behind “health” when they are picking and choosing who can and cannot be body positive, they base it off of who looks the most socially acceptable. And I’m sure they aren’t consciously picking and choosing, it comes from implicit bias. But the socially acceptable bodies they center are small to medium fat, with an hourglass shape. They have shaped a new beauty standard specifically FOR FAT PEOPLE. (Have you ever seen a plus sized model with neck fat?? I’m genuinely asking because I have yet to find one!) The bopo movement works to exclude and silence people who are on the largest end of the weight spectrum.
Speaking of exclusion, let’s talk about fashion for a minute.
For some reason, (COUGH COUGH CAPITALISM) body positivity is largely centered around fashion. And surprise surprise, it’s still not inclusive to fat people. Fashion companies get a pat on the back for expanding their sizing two sizes up from what they previously offered, when they are still leaving out larger fat people completely. In general, clothing companies charge more for clothes with more fabric, so people who need the largest sizes are left high and dry. It’s next to impossible to find affordable clothes that also look nice. Fashion piggybacks on the bopo movement as a marketing tactic, and exploits the very bodies it claims to be serving. (Need I mention the time Urban Outfitters used a "curvy” model to sell a size it doesn’t even carry?)
The movement also works to exclude and silence fat Black activists.
In her article, “The Body Positivity Movement Both Takes From and Erases Fat Black Women” Donyae Coles explains how both white people and thin celebrities such as Jameela Jamil profit from the movement that Black women built.
“Since long before blogging was a thing, fat Black women have been vocal about body acceptance, with women like Sharon Quinn and Marie Denee, or the work of Sonya Renee Taylor with The Body Is Not An Apology. We’ve been out here, and we’re still here, but the overwhelming face of the movement is white and thin because the mainstream still craves it, and white and thin people have no problem with profiting off the work of fat, non-white bodies.”
“There is a persistent belief that when thin and/or white people enter the body positive realm and begin to repeat the messages that Black women have been saying for years in some cases, when they imitate the labor that Black women have already put in that we should be thankful that they are “boosting” our message. This completely ignores the fact that in doing so they are profiting off of that labor. They are gaining the notoriety, the mark of an expert in something they learned from an ignored Black woman” (Coles).
My next essay will go into detail about this and illuminate key figures who paved the way for body acceptance in communities of color.
The true purpose of this movement has gotten completely lost. So where the fuck do we go from here?
We break up with it, and run back to the faithful ex our parents disapproved of. We go back to the roots of the fat liberation movement, carved out for us by the fat feminists, the queer fat activists, the fat Black community, and the allies it began with. Everything they have preached since the 1960s and 70s is one hundred percent applicable today. We get educated. We examine diet culture through a capitalist lens. We tackle thin, white-supremacist systems and weight based discrimination, as well as internalized bias. We challenge our healthcare workers to unlearn their bias, treat, and support fat patients accordingly. We make our homes and spaces accessible and welcoming to people of any size, or any (dis)ability. “We must first protect and uplift people in marginalized bodies, only then can we mandate self-love” (Gordon).
Think about it. In the face of discrimination, mistreatment, and emotional abuse, we as a society are telling fat people to love their bodies, when we should be putting our energy toward removing those fatphobic ideas and structures so that fat people can live in a world that doesn’t require them to feel bad about their bodies. It’s like hitting someone with a rock and telling them not to bruise!
While learning to love and care for the body that you’re in is important, I think that body positivity also fails in teaching that because it puts even more emphasis on beauty. Instead of saying, “you don’t have to be ‘beautiful’ to be loved and appreciated,” its main lesson is that “all bodies are beautiful.” We live in a society obsessed with appearance, and it is irresponsible to ignore the hierarchy of beauty standards that exist in every space. Although it should be relative, “beautiful” has been given a meaning. And that meaning is thin, abled, symmetric, and eurocentric.
Beauty and ugliness are irrelevant, made-up constructs. People will always be drawn to you no matter what, so you deserve to exist in your body without struggling to conform to an impossible and bigoted standard. Love and accept your body for YOURSELF AND NO ONE ELSE, because you do not exist to please the eyes of other people. That’s what I wish we were teaching instead. Radical self acceptance!
As of today, the ultimate message of the body positivity movement is: Love your body “despite its imperfections.” Or people with “perfect and imperfect bodies both deserve love.” As long as we are upholding the notion that there IS a perfect body that looks a certain way, and every body that falls outside of that category is imperfect, we are upholding white supremacy, eugenics, anti-fatness, and ableism.

Has anyone put together a picture of the new dolls with their names and descriptions?
I assume you mean world by us? (idk why i suddenly became the world by us expert everybody is asking about but i dont really mind lmfao) if so here are their book descriptions from the library of congress
Evette:
"Evette learns the rift in her family was caused by racism and organizes a river cleanup where she invites her friends and family, including both of her grandmothers, hoping they can make amends."
Martiza:
"Seventh-grader Maritza Ochoa learns to lead on and off the soccer field as she organizes community support for her teammate Violeta whose family member is being detained by immigration officials and who has a secret of her own Maritza promises to keep."
Makena:
"Thirteen-year-old Makena Williams has a passion for fashion. She loves putting clothes together in unexpected ways. When school went virtual because of the pandemic, Makena started sharing her style by posting her OOTD (outfit of the day). Now she's back to school in person and meeting some of her fashion followers for the first time. Clothes are a way for Makena to connect with others-like her new friends, Evette and Maritza. But some people don't see Makena for who she is. They only see her as a Black girl, and they make unfair assumptions. After a hurtful incident in her own neighborhood, Makena discovers how to use fashion to speak up about injustice."
So it looks like thier stories are actually connected! I wasn't sure they would be. And here are the dolls (with their names labeled on top)

“What you doing?”
Mia nearly jumped out of her skin at the voice, half expecting to turn and be met with Miranda’s sharp glare, but only finding Evette staring at her with wide curious eyes. A huff of smoke escaped her as she sighed in relief, the five year old tugging at her own dress sleeves that were still a bit too long for her.
“I thought you were with your mother.” She rolled the cigarette between her fingers nervously, taking a quick glance around the lab. The young girl shrugged.
“Sent me home.” She said it so nonchalant. Well, as nonchalant as she could, and Mia’s jaw tightened.
“Again?” She rubbed the bridge of her nose, taking a far too long drag from the cigarette and blowing the smoke out the window. “I keep telling her to stop that. She shouldn’t make you walk home by yourself….”
If the girl agreed with her, she didn’t say it. Instead, she pointed to the cigarette. “What that?”
Mia clicked her tongue. “A smoke. Al-...Lady Dimitrescu… gave it to me.” It was probably more accurate to say she had asked for one and had just gotten lucky Alcina had extra. That she was somewhat desperate for a stress relief and even if the cigarette didn’t do shit for her in the end, it was better than nothing. But she didn’t think the girl needed to know that. “I would say don’t tell your mother, but she’ll probably find out anyway. She always does….” She muttered the last part bitterly, flicking the butt of the cigarette out between the bars in front of the window.
“Stinks.”
The older woman gave a slightly amused smile. “Yeah, it does….” She hummed in agreement, giving the girl a gentle pat on the head before practically collapsing onto the bed. “Evette?”
The girl gave a small hum, climbing onto the bed to sit beside her.
“She never… hurts you, right? Like…” Mia paused for a moment, and suddenly she could feel all the marks on her body at once. “I know I’ve never seen her do it, but she doesn’t hit you, does she? When you two are alone?”
Evette stared at her like she didn’t understand the question. Maybe she didn’t. Maybe it was an unnecessary one. Miranda told her countless times she’s never hit a child, but if Mia was honest she didn’t trust the woman enough to believe that. God knows she would yell at the girl until Evette was a sobbing mess unless Mia intervened. That usually ended in getting yelled at herself, but better her than a child.
Mia looked to the girl when she still didn’t answer, getting something of an unreadable expression. Evette decided to simply lay on to of her and nuzzle herself under Mia’s chin. The only woman sighed, placing a hand on the small brunette’s head and wrapping her other arm around her torso. The smell of smoke was going to rub off on her, at least that’s what Mia assumed.
Miranda would have a field day with her for that.
Frankly, Mia didn’t care.

Can I gently ask what the Oznitus kids would think of my Asphaltic boys please Q.Q
hi dear sorry for being slow
queenie
theos thinks he’s just a ball of energy, i think hed observe queenie like he;s a specimen of sorts (like rook lmao). theos probably notices him on the field when he’s running, and would probably be bold enough to challenge queenie to a race, theos likes to do fun things after all. though i bet he would sulk if he loses to queenie (which i bet he does)
evett probably wouldn’t like queenie a lot, he gives off the vibes of the middle schoolers that bullied evett in the past. he’s got enough things on his plate already, the last thing he wants is to associate with someone as spirited as queenie. if he spots queenie in the hallway he’ll just pretend queenie doesnt exist
considering the fact that mika is quite a socialite, i bet he’s already friends with queenie. mika’s quite a smooth talker and a good conversation partner, so i guess he would stroke queenie’s ego quite a fair bit. of course that doesn’t mean mika likes queenie entirely, i still think the mischievous side of him would gossip about queenie;s arrogance (mika u two faced bih)
glory
theos probably sees glory as an overgrown munchkin. i think he’s tried to talk to glory before, but his eccentric behavior combined with glory’s shyness probably didnt get him that far. he finds it quite interesting how protective the dorm members are of glory though
evett’s got very little patience (due to his idiot dorm members testing him), so he probably would not handle glory very well. it tires him to have to constantly pry glory apart to make any kind of conversation with him, and since evett has quite a foul mouth he probably would not click with glory to say the least
mika’s probably the only one with some success in trying to befriend glory, and even if the latter doesnt feel the same way i think mika would consider him a friend. he’s probably succeeded in making glory talk, and he does think glory is a fun guy to be around due to his humor. since they both like video games i think mika games regularly with glory too
phoenix
theos is accustomed to the likes of phoenix, since his vice dorm head behaves in a similar manner. theos enjoys poking fun and irritating evett on purpose, so its probably the same with phoenix. he probably likes to insert himself into conversations and parties with phoenix just for the sake of annoying him
evett and phoenix are quite similar in terms of temper, so i could see them either getting along or butting heads. they’re both vice dorm leaders and the problem solver in the dorm, so i suppose they often vent their problems to each other (and talk shit about their dorms). when theyre both agitated however phoenix becomes evett’s worst enemy, he wont hesitate to swear a phoenix when theyre arguing. evett is probably lowkey envious that phoenix’s good at socializing (and flirting), he definitely takes mental notes when he sees phoenix interacting with other students
mika probably has an amicable friendship with phoenix, theyre both outgoing and like partying so they probably vibe well together. when his dorm abandons him i think mika would turn to phoenix to bail him out of whatever trouble he got himself into

I'm cracking so hard that crodo angel form is just sooo fucking tall how on earth did Evette not feel intimidate by him 👀
Because he’s a gentle boi with humans. 😌👉👈
And Evette at least has some minor experience out in the field photographing predators in the wild...! She’s pretty hard to shake up. That, and the Angel is just so pretty, it’d be impossible for her to be intimidated by him. 😔✊

#ThrillerLiveCloses #ApprovedByMJon2009
“Right now our world has been turned upside down, with a pandemic that is changing our way of life. It is affecting us all, financially, emotionally and socially. For me it has resulted in THRILLER LIVE closing prematurely (and permanently) in the West End, as all theatres around the country have been shut, in the public’s best interest. Myself and the rest of the team totally understand and respect that we must all practice social distancing, working together to beat this virus. But yesterday was a very sad day as I joined the cast, crew and other creatives at the Lyric Theatre for one last time. We wanted to come together to say goodbye to each other at the theatre that had become our home for the past 11-years. Ironically we were just two more performances away from becoming the 11th longest ever running show in the West End. Still to be 12th, and the longest ever running show at the Lyric Theatre is an incredible achievement. Another thing the coronavirus has shown us is that we never know what is around the corner and we shouldn’t take what we have for granted. Through hard times, we get to see what matters most and what we really need to value.
One of our cast members said that leaving the Lyric Theatre was like losing a loving partner. And that is partly true, in that sometimes you don’t appreciate what you have until it is gone. But I am sure that each and every one of the Thriller Live cast and crew will go on to great new ventures, just as previous associates have. It’s been an INCREDIBLE journey which has formed great friendships, partnerships and even relationships with babies to boot! For me it seems that things have gone full circle. For it was 30 years ago today (20th March 1990) when I first met the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and he inspired me to see a world of endless possibilities. He showed me humility, kindness and a laughter like I’d never heard before.
We were at Record One Studios where he was free and at his creative best, producing the ‘Dangerous’ album. Watching a genius at work, who since the age of 5 had been perfecting his craft to become the world’s greatest ever entertainer was a true privilege. And then came an invitation to lunch at Neverland. That was the most memorable weekend ever. I’d never seen a landscape and home so beautiful. A place where Michael could dream peacefully, and one could lose themselves in magical abandonment. Which I did playing on the arcades, riding on the funfair and watching movies in the theatre. Just before I left, as I walked out the oak door, Michael said come back anytime. And I did, at least once a year - return to Neverland, as did many lucky fans, and various charitable organisations that Michael opened his doors for, because he loved to give, help and see others happy. That was the Michael Jackson I knew - a humble, innocent soul, who also happened to be one of the greatest artists of all time. There are many, many other stories that I have shared over the years, and fans and friends will know. Each one of them still as colourful in my mind now as it was when I first lived them. I thank Michael for those memories, and even though he is gone, it has never felt like a goodbye.
From all of us at “Thriller Live”, we want to Thank everyone who came to see the Show in the West End. We are Grateful that we could keep Michael’s Legacy and Music alive through the production and cá look forward to continuing touring the world in years to come. Now here follows a long, long list of thanks to just a few of the many people who made the show possible in the West End. There has been literally hundreds of people involved on and off the stage, so apologies that I can’t list everyone, but each of you are just as important in making this show a special part of West End history ! John Maher our meticulous Musical Director extraordinaire. • Every single band member past and present including Damien Cooper, Oliver Latka, Ryan Alex Farmery, Adam Kovacs and Mike Bradley - the greatest compliment you can pay these guys, is that some audience members still ask if the show is ‘live’. These two guys are stage legends, whose performances did Michael proud every single night. • Respect to Kevin Wilson PR for keeping our name up in lights and doing it always with the utmost enthusiasm. • Thank you to Debbie O'Brien Casting – the talent we have seen over the years has been incredible including Zoe Birkett, Hayley Evetts, Maria Lawson, Samantha Johnson Carter, Cleopatra Madonna, Britt Quentin, Alex Buchanan, Jerome Singer, Trenyce Cobbins, David Jordan, MiG Ayesa and so many more outstanding vocalists ! • We have also been blessed with hundreds of amazing dancers since 2006 and through to the end of this West End run. They, with the singers and musicians are the life blood of the show, which relies, not on massive production, but pure heart and soul to deliver the energy, authenticity and chemistry that was part of Michael Jackson. • Thank you Nica Burns at Nimax for giving us a home for 11-years, and all the staff at the Lyric Theatre for looking after us, and over 2 million audience members throughout the years. • Massive appreciation to Kerys Nathan, our original Director & Choreographer from 2006-2008. You’ll always be a part of the show. • Thank you to every single cast member from the original West End cast featuring Ben Forster, Roger Wright, Denise Pearson, Ricko Baird, Kieran Alleyne, Layton Williams (OFFICIAL), Sterling Williams, Lewis Davies, Kamilah Beckles, Christabelle Field, Elliot James, Earl Perkins, Emily Rumbles, Dannielle Rothman, Sean Williams, Ashton Russell, Ross Sands and Jordan Darrell, to our last with – Wayne Anthony-Cole, Vivienne Ekwulugo, David Julien, Miles Anthony, Florivaldo Mossi, Lauren Gore, Filippo Coffano, Leslie Garcia Brown, Deavion Brown, David Devyne, Mitchell Eley, Ike Fallon, Eliza Hart, Gabriela Hernandez, Amelia-Annie Layng, Arnold Mabhena, Rishard-Kyro Nelson, Oskarina O'Sullivan , Shola B Riley, Triple Calz, Cannon Hay, Isaiah Mason, Ishaan Raithatha and Messiah Unusudimi. • To everyone on our suspended touring production, and all those before which has seen us visit over 34 different countries, thank you, thank you and thank you again. We will see each other hopefully soon as we continue this journey. Until then stay safe, and don't eat too many pies, there is only one costume budget. •Apologies too many not named above, some whom I greatly admire and some whom I am proud to now call friends, you are all in my thoughts.
Lastly, and most importantly – thank you to MICHAEL JACKSON ! “THRILLER LIVE is your Music, your Artistry and your Magic ! Thank you for your Inspiration , Love and Humanity . 🙏🏼
Dreams do come true — Adrian Grant .

Although their organizing efforts were seemingly cut short due to circumstance, The Fat Underground’s research, organizing and revelatory politics more than paved the way for present day fat liberation activism. An archived video shows viewers the kinds of radical and progressive conversations that were being had by the group, which provided the foundation for today’s Health At Every Size movement along with language and ideas to combat fatphobia in the medical industry.
In the 1980s and 1990s, fat liberation slowly became a more relevant part of the academy and the legal world. Lawsuits that made workplace discrimination illegal on the basis of weight were fought and won. In 1994, activist Marilyn Wann published the foundational zine Fat!So? Since then, multiple books, both for academic purposes and for-pleasure, have been published, allowing fat liberation to become part of the cultural zeitgeist and the fabric of academia through the fields of Women’s Studies, African American studies, Psychology, Literature, History, Sociology, Queer Studies and American Studies.
Yet today, fat liberation has become entwined with body positivity—mostly as a result of lazy organizing, the prioritization of bodies that benefit from thin privilege and individual feminists resistant to challenging their own discomfort. As Evette Dionne suggests, body positivity was initially one factor of fat liberation. But today, it has eclipsed the initial radicality of the movement and erased the very people it is meant to help.
It isn’t the body positivity is wrong, or not feminist—it is radical, after all, to love yourself in a world that benefits from your self-hatred, particularly if you’re a woman or femme, and especially if you occupy various other marginalized identities. But much like any other political movement, fat liberation began as a push back against the oppression of a marginalized group. It was a movement that gained traction because of fat people, predominantly women, organizing and mobilizing against fatphobia.
Fat people were at the center of the theory, actions and radicalism of early fat liberation. Today, however, the faces of body positivity, or #bopo, that we see on social media are too often thin, conventionally attractive, white women. By and large, body positivity has lost the edge and radical politicization that fat liberation possesses.

TANTALUS TIMELINE
2102
anomaly gene discovered when a patient with a brain tumor’s blood was tested. the new genome was mapped and studied by a geneticist, but dismissed by the medical community.
2200
the global peace core ( a rebranded united nations ) agreed to pass bills in their countries to begin routine genetic testing of every baby born in a hospital. it was put forth as a way to screen for possible diseases and begin preventative medicine. behind the scenes, however, genetic information was being sold back to governments. this began the tracking of the anomaly gene towards the end of the 2200′s when enough cases began to show up to garner attention.
2303-2310
the tantalus program begins to be planned as politicians and government officials workshop the idea of a recruitment program, wanting to get ahead of this before it is a threat. research is funded and scientists are recruited to begin laying the groundwork.
2310
employees of tantalus, dr. harriet fowler and sara matheson, go rogue and take a baby with the a-gene into hiding. they are responsible for building the medical and security software for tantalus.
2315-2317
nine tantalus compounds are constructed across the world. placed in remote locations and outfitted with top of the line technology. staff are hired and recruitment begins. children which have been monitored over the years are profiled and then selected to be targeted. the most socially and economically vulnerable individuals are the ones brought in.
2323
the first generation of recruits graduate highschool and begin training
2327
the class of 2323 finish training. they are each sent out and assigned to cities across the world. their jobs vary from consulting with local law enforcement, to being sent on missions funded by wealthy and political elite. they are mercenaries and mere tools, but conditioned to not realize they have been turned into property.
official recruitment is paused as they want to see results before continuing. some next gen children are still being profiled for recruitment.
2328
doctor harriet fowler is assassinated by emil kindell. her wife sara matheson escapes with their daughter evette fowler.
2326
agent etisha klein is killed in action.
2330
the next generation of recruits officially begin their training on every compound, some had already been gathered off books.
2334
the tracker and kill switch implants are introduced. they are placed inside the second generation recruits. first generation agents are called in to the nearest bases to have the plants given to them. they are only told of the trackers which also serve as medical monitors. they are not told of the kill switch. many agents ascertain for themselves what it is after one of them tries to defect and, subsequently, is killed by it.
2338 ( present )
next gen recruits graduate and are sent off to live with agents and train with them in the field. ( ages ranging 18-21 )
evette fowler having caught up to emil kindell, targets him as someone to turn against tantalus. she is determined to turn any agents she can, bent on exposing and destroying the program.
persephone verse timeline begins during this time, in which evette disables his implant and he defects from tantalus. over the course of the next few years, the agents which next gen recruits slowly begin willing to defect as they have to witness what is happening to the younger recruits. many are targeted by eve and emil who can offer freedom.
#focus on the events aND NOT THE DATES A;LKSDJF#〖 DATA LOADING 〗#me constantly: gotta remind everyone money means nothing to the recruits#al;skdjfa i feel like ppl will associate like#spies and merenaries with rich folks in it for money but#they're not in it for themselves and they're being used#their lives are paid for#they've been conditioned to not think that way bc tantalus wants all the gain for themselves ((:#funny that capitalism is what drives them to have to accept the recruitment#bc they're poor and have no way of climbing the social ladder#and in the end they're made to gain nothing#and not really realize it until they're too late#i think this is all correct but i'm super bad at math so just
