This is actually the first time drawing them like this 2. Really proud of it

Yeah it's flawed and pacings off and stuff BUT! The implications it left behind are haunting and it has been stuck in my brain for years. One of the things that stuck with me was the fact that Raph and Don had stuff like April's tessen, Mikey's stuffed bear head, The Creeps containment jar, and Casey's skull(horrifying btw) with them and that it's like :((

I fully believe it was Donnie who collected and carried them everywhere in their car. Not only for Raph(to help with this memory)but also for himself.

Why? Well maybe I'm reading 2 much into it and it's also partly a HC of mine but also bc canonically Donnie has a bit of a hoarding habit collecting trinkets and pictures and stuff. He likes to keep things around that hold a lot of significant value to him.

We see this in The Creeping Doom during the intro

AND I swear he's got a literal wall of family photos in his lab somewhere I can't for the life of me find it but I know he did! He even took some to the farmhouse with him when they escaped during the invasion.

Not in a way that matters anymore.

And no matter where u go you are haunted by shadows of what once was. There are so many echoes and ghosts and cultures and stories and lives that were buried & left to rot by the gaping maws of fear & the desperate need to survive. No one cares for the past and the only other person around you can't remember it. Time will claim its domain again and there will be nothing left except empty metal husks to show sentience even existed in the first place.

Like holy shit he was just a kid bro and he never got the chance to even reach full adulthood!!! I can't possibly imagine the grief and guilt he must've carried with him all those years. He lost EVERYTHING

His family. His home. His world.

Did Donnie even get the chance to mourn??? Do u think his new body allowed it? Do u think he even ALLOWED himself to mourn? He had a hurt amnesiac brother who still needed to eat, who could still starve and bleed and die if they weren't careful enough.

So between his habits and the ✨Angst✨ and human pollution, him hoarding random ass things Wall-E style and making these shitty little scrapbooks or keepsakes didn't seem so far fetched to me. I also highly doubt there was enough time or resources to build shrines or graves in the middle of apocalypse. But yk honoring/preserving the memories of the things and ppl we love is natural for us so like SORRY if its a bit cringe of me wanting him to have SOMETHING to comfort him during the really bad days.

What is the Dune Mini Bang?

This event is a celebration of the love of everything Dune!

We welcome collaborative works based on any facet of the Dune Universe; Movies, books, tabletop game, evething! With no restrictions on dynamics, themes or ratings so long as everything is appropriately tagged.

Must be 18+ to participate.

Where can I post my fics/art?

We will be setting up a hidden collection on AO3 with works being revealed all at once on Sept 7th. You do not *have* to post to the collection but it is highly recommended so your work can be included with the rest of the group. Once the works have been revealed on AO3 you are welcome to post them wherever else you would like!

For posting on other social media platforms, such as tumblr or twitter, please tag duneminibang2024 and on tumblr we can be tagged @dunefandomhub

What if I have issues or concerns with my artist/author?

Sometimes authors and artists do not get along and this may cause problems with working together. If this happens to be the case with you, please email or contact the mods on Discord and we will try to do what we can so that everyone has a chance to have fun!

If you have not heard from your author/artist by the wnd of the Teams Ch3ck In please inform a mod so we can match you up with someone else.

Extensions?

The AO3 collection will be closed once it has been revealed on September 7th. Works do not need to be marked as completed when adding to the collection or by the reveal date but you must submit at least the first 2500 words to be included in this years event.

You can still post your work after this point but it will not be included as part of the collection.

Can I drop out?

While we have high hopes that everybody who signs up can actually finish the round and share in the joy of the reveal with us, we understand that real life can unfortunately get in the way! The best time to drop out is to inform us during one of the check ins, by the date indicated in the timeline.

Remember that the stories do not need to be 100% completed by the reveal date, they just have to hit the minimum word count of 2500 and art needs to meet a reasonable level of completion which is negotiable.

Is it possible to be banned?

Yes it is. The following events will result in being removed from the event and a one event ban on next year;

Lying about your age in order to gain access to the 18+ content

Hate on another participant for their ship/character/content - we are allowing ALL content for the mini bang.

Hate on another participant for any reason really

I am absolutely confident God is not my pop machine or a genie in a cloud or any such thing.

If that’s your take on prayer and God, you will be sorely disappointed, when you find out God has been known to harden an enemy’s heart against you, as you prayed for a way through.

He will make you uncomfortable, as often as He conforms you. What you believe He will answer and what He might actually do, can blow your mind. I’ve got a hundred examples, but here’s just one of mine.

My son was dying. I was praying. I had a dream/vision that I stood in front of Jesus in the throne room.

As I gave Matthew to Jesus, I asked him to heal my son, totally and completely.

Jesus looked at my son in his arms and I saw them smile.

I woke up more than excited, more than hopeful, wildly certain God would heal my little 2 pound son! I totally believed it was going to happen.

When he died a month later, my heart flew to the throne room. “But I thought you were going to heal him!” I wailed and wept. And into my spirit I heard the lesson never to be forgotten.

“I did heal him totally and completely. That is why he is here with Me now.”

That was a hard revelation.

We’re so careless in prayer.

We often lose focus of what God wants, wanting what we want.

I did not pray “Thy will be done”, because I didn’t really desire what God wanted.

I just wanted my son……alive.

The purpose of prayer is never to direct God to your answer, the way you want it answered.

He’ll teach you different.

Prayer is a conversational adoration. As a courtesy to us, Scripture tells us to make our requests known, that it’s God’s delight to give to us, that we do everything by prayer and thanksgiving, that He gives to us because He wants our joy to be. full.... yes, even in the unmovable no. Or maybe not that season, but in due season.

Prayer is about revealing what God wants in our lives first. It’s to find a way to stand in His service, even in our groaning and grief and frustration.

It is a glorious and great thing that we have access to a holy almighty sovereign God, who does answer prayer every single hour of eveth single day.

But .....prayer is never an access to try and control God, to get what we want when we want it, or how we want it done. It’s not to make us happy with outcomes.

Prayer is for us to be humbled, to grow, to be strengthened in our

faith, to pass the tests of the trials, to bow in adoration, to fall in awe,

to let God be God. To worship Him as God. Always.

He is faithful to lead you there if your heart is to be fully His alone. From there He rules and reigns and hears His servants say:

If you were to recommend your top Fence fanfics, which ones are they and why?

(my answer became unnecessarily long, skip to the end for the one rec I do actually have)

So, this is slightly embarrassing, but. But. But. But. Not sure if you know or not but I also write fanfics for Fence. My problem is that I'm one of those fabled long fic writers and the one fic I have up goes up to 164k words. A little beast, to say the least. Took me a little over a year to write it, pretty proud of it still :')

Now. When I write for a fandom, I do not read in said fandom. That is solely to keep myself from stealing anybodys ideas by accident. You know how dreams work? Surely. You process all the information you've gathered (actively or passively) during the day and they come together in some weird short films or some strange blockbuster which you'll think was extremely alien in the morning, but on some level it of course made sense. It's your head after all.

To get back to the initial point, when I write, I don't read other people's work in that fandom, because when I brainstorm at the start of the writing process and put it all down, I have this outline, I know where I'm going, I know where I'll end up, but there's evething in between. Which, on a long fic that spans at least 130k when I start going, is a lot. And since I really don't wanna steal by accident and jumble in ideas that weren't mine, I don't read other people's fics. Different fandoms? Sure. Not Fence [the respective fandom] tho.

NOW since I'm writing these beasts, they take a while. I posted the other one in August 2022, started the year before (ergo, no fence reading during that time already) and I started my current project in--

August 2022. So yeah. I haven't read any fence fanfics since roughly three years. But I recently got over a very bad writers block and should be finished in maybe three months. Not making promises here tho don't hold me to this lol

TALKING ABOUT PROMISES - thinking back to any fics I DO remember (and since I write so much myself it's honestly just other long Fics that manage to stick in my useless sponge of a brain) is Promised Things from @applesandbannas747 (I can't get the link to work I'm so sorry, but you'll find it if you search the Fence fandom by word count over 100k on ao3, that's how I always did it) and it's one of the only fics EVER where I went back after an amount of time had passed to reread it. I think there's only one other fic that managed to make me do that, so respect to the tagged author.

Sorry I couldn't give you more than that. If anybody even bothered to read this far - I'm very much open to all fic recommendations that came out during the last 3 years lmao. Give me half a year and hopefully not another random writing idea in the shower and I should be finally able to read some good fan content soon

Who do you think has been the weakest on moving on? Sideswipe or Strongarm?

For me Strongarm, I think she's strugling with being on Earth, and she really miss her past and home. You can see it in Nightra's episode where she chase her, and tries to have her back so badly becouse Nightra reminds her of those things. I think she regrets stepping out of bridge. Since we can't see why it happend I think it's Sideswipe's fault, he probably teassed her. I wish she had a scene like Sypha from Castelevania where she notice how much she changed under Team's pressure and how much she can't handle it for herself.

I never watched Castelevania. SOOO I won't tell you if that's correct or not. XD

But you're right, Strongarm has a lot of struggles with it. She still miss her life even if it wasn't the best, because Nightra (traktowała ją) like a garbage, Wheeljack practically not existed in her life and Magnus only cared about her education and future place in society. Yk it was everything she ever knew and after all she liked it somehow.

Sides never has such a problems, he's moving from place to place since he was 13, so for him it's better. Finally he can stay for a longer while somewhere, because he feels safe now, with Bee and Drift.

But she feels guilty, of this runaway, because she doesn't want to disappoint her parents or anybody else.

And yeah, Sides would tease her like: "Aww, our little princess forgot one of her stupid rules???", yk somthing like this. Ofc she now it only Sideswipe's stupid jokes, but inside she knows it's true and in her opinion for worst.

She's extremely scared of disappointing her dads and in some way herself too. After all her biggest dream always was to become someday a head of a police department on Cybertron, and this whole time on Earth caused, that she started question what she truly wants and needs.

Bee is usually trying to comfort her with those anxiety, after all he knew, how hard it's to life when evething is changing everyday and absolutely nothing is sure.
