My Harry Potter: Next Generation OCs are: Celine Newton; Belinda ‘Linda’ Woodward; Evelyn ‘Eve’ Munro; Faye Taylor; Isa McKenna; Dante ‘Danny’ Cunningham; Liam Wells; Nikoli ‘Niki; Holland; Josh Desilva

Celine Newton is the perspective character for the story. Her parents died in the Battle of Hogwarts and her paternal grandparents looked after her – they were Muggles, and her maternal grandparents had cut ties with her mother after she married a Muggleborn.

When she was four years old, her grandparents died and she was taken in by her maternal aunt simply because the Pureblood side of her family wondered if perhaps they couldn’t use her for something. Celine hated it, and ran away not long after having moved in with her aunt and her aunt’s boyfriend. Celine ended up Diagon Alley and sat outside Weasleys Wizard Wheezes where she met George. There was something about her that endeared her to him; however, her aunt came to collect her and Celine had to return home – even if she stated that she wanted to stay with him.

Over time, Celine managed to spend more time with George and his family – growing to see them as a surrogate family – and tried to spend as little time as possible at home. In their eyes, Celine is pretty much a Weasley; she’s like an older sister to Fred and Roxanne. She’s also best friends with Teddy Lupin – who she met while at a Weasley-Potter family party.

Celine is a bit of a prankster with a good heart – she only targets people that are mean to other, or who she knows will take everything in good humour. She’s on the Gryffindor House Quidditch team as a Beater. Celine has a large group of friends at school but while they know there is darkness in her past, the truth of who exactly her family are is something she’s cagey about. There are some in the school who know her heritage, and are more than willing to hold the truth of this over her head.

Celine isn’t specifically in a ship, but there are some flirtatious moments between her and Dante Cunningham.

Belinda ‘Linda’ Woodward is the youngest of five (one sister is the eldest, then two brothers, then a sister, then Linda), but she grew up feeling kind of alone. Her parents are Half-Bloods who tried to help rebuilding the Wizarding World, even though they were raising their family. Her eldest sister helped to bring up the younger ones. It’s possibly because of how much was going on in their house that Linda started pulling pranks to get attention – positive or negative, she doesn’t really mind which – but through that she learnt how much she enjoys making people laugh. Linda is a chatterbox and enjoys being the centre of attention.

Linda is well known in the school, and will pretty much speak to everybody. She has a close-knit group of friends – her dormmates and some of the boys they know through Celine’s links to Teddy are included in this – but is happy to chat with almost everyone. She’s one of the friendliest Ravenclaws in the school. There are a few people that she doesn’t get along with, but usually because they have done something she thinks is wrong previously.

Linda is a lesbian and finds herself falling for a girl in another dormitory. She did have a crush on Eve early on, but realised nothing would happen; she’s glad that the crush didn’t ruin their chances of friendship because she doesn’t know what she’d do without Eve around sometimes.

Evelyn ‘Eve’ Munro is an only child and the only grandchild on one side of her family; for that reason she was a little spoilt, something she actually grew to resent. Her family appear to have played the long, if dangerous, game of not picking a definitive side, and instead being on the outskirts during the Wizarding Wars. She grew up catching the odd bit of Muggle life, and that was how she fell in love with music. When she was nine she saved up pocket money, converted it to Muggle money, and bought herself a violin and song book. She taught herself, despite the confusion of her family. Her greatest ambition is to become a musician, though not many people know that about her. The only reason she didn’t buy a magical instrument was because she wanted something with a history that wasn’t shrouded in magic.

Eve gets on with her dormmates, but does get a little infuriated with Celine, Linda and Faye sometimes. She is also the Slytherin prefect in their year. She is fiercely protective of her friends, and a little scary to any who would want to cross them. She knows the boys in passing though, and tends to speak with other people outside of this little clique – mainly those who have the same academic focus as her, and desire for doing more.

She’s never really thought about relationships and things, so wouldn’t know where to begin with talking about attraction. That doesn’t mean she can’t appreciate good looks or personality, it’s just never really been her thing either way.

Faye Taylor was brought up by her maternal grandparents following the death of her parents in a car accident. She lived in a small village where she was always the youngest (by a long way) person there. She loved all things magical, and found herself getting lost in those worlds. While she has never been diagnosed with ADHD, there is the strong possibility that she has it to some degree - her school reports were always full of teachers saying she needed to focus more. Only her year 3 teacher ever tried to do something to help her cope, but they were unable to get any plans in place because there were others who needed to be prioritised and they had found ways to help Faye cope to some degree. When she got her Hogwarts letter her grandparents were stunned, but they were happy for her in a way because it meant her biggest dreams had come true.

Faye is close to her dormmates but always worries that she will annoy them; she is grateful for Celine who lets her ramble as much as she wants. She is on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team as a Chaser, meaning she is close to Liam. She gets on with the other boys, and is reasonably close to others in her house, including younger years.

She has a crush on Liam and has done for a while; she is pansexual.

Isa McKenna grew up by the sea and adored it - especially when she and her older brother would go surfing in the freezing cold water. She is very close to her family, her mother is a Half-Blood and her father a Muggle; and her brother also went to Hogwarts. While she was excited to learn more about magic she was worried about missing the sea, thus she spent time at the Black Lake. She is an avid reader, and even more inclined to do research than read fiction sometimes. She loves the outdoors and hates it when people insist on being cooped up inside.

She is very close to the girls in her dormitory, however they don’t really have a lot in common. She butts heads with Linda a lot due to how contrasting they are. She is relatively shy, and it tends to be Eve who helps her with social things. She is reasonably close to the boys, but has her own little friendship group too where she spends a lot of time. She becomes the head girl during their seventh year, much to the excitement of her friends (Celine jokes that it means they can get away with more, much to Isa’s horror).

Isa is heterosexual but tends to be too shy to flirt with people. Nik flirts with her, but then he flirts with everyone. She had a crush on a boy in her brother’s year, but didn’t say anything while he was at Hogwarts. Luckily, Malachai ‘Mal’ Clearview works in Hogsmeade.

Dante ‘Danny’ Cunningham is the only child of Pureblood parents who love him dearly. He is also close to his extended family, with some of his uncles being well known within the Wizarding community for potions (both good and bad ones). He grew up in Spain but his parents, especially his father, wanted him to go to Hogwarts because of its reputation. They moved to England a short while after his tenth birthday. He doesn’t like it as much as home but is making the most of it. His Dad used to take him on business trips when he was younger, meaning he mixed with some of the other prestigious Wizarding families.

When he arrived at Hogwarts he knew some people, and there were a few scared of his family. To some, he is Slytherin royalty, and therefore those with ties to the darker side of magic - in all houses - try to get him on side. Celine was one of the first people to reach out to him, along with Teddy, and they have been friends ever since. Dante is also close to the other boys in his dormitory, even if he scares the final member of their room.

Dante has trouble opening up to people, always being on his guard, but there is the occasional flirting between him and Celine Newton He is heterosexual, but is always worried about making a move, or reciprocating to flirting, due to how many people might just be trying to use him.

Liam wells is a Muggleborn who grew up as the middle sibling of two sisters. He loved spending time with his family - though, he and his older sister had blazing rows occasionally. He is in fact the only one in his immediate family that’s magical. He also went to a lot of sports games with his dad and uncle growing up, and was on most sports teams.

Liam gets on well with the boys in his dorm, enjoying the fact he and Teddy are two Hufflepuffs. He gets on well with the girls too, especially Faye. He has, on occasion, helped Isa with hairstyles, making sure he looks them up in the holidays for her. As soon as he was allowed to try out for the Quidditch team, Liam did and joined as a Beater.

He is a bit of a romantic, not that people think that of him. He is demiromantic and has a massive crush on Faye but is scared to ruin things with her by doing anything about it.

Nikoli ‘Niki�� Holland is the only child of a Half-Blood mother and Pureblood father. His paternal Wizarding family actually sided with Voldemort, and Nikoli is always trying to make up for this because it doesn’t sit right with him - even when his family tell him stories of the grandeur of the Dark Lord. They themselves are trying to make people forget they were on that side, but in private they discuss it. His mum brought him up as his father couldn’t cope in the Muggle world (he tried because he truly did love his wife and child, and he also didn’t agree with everything his family did) and abandoned them when Nikoli was six. When he was accepted into Hogwarts he was nervous to leave his mum but also excited to go there.

Nikoli is close to his dormmates, even if there are occasional contentions between him and Dante sometimes. Occasionally he will spend time with his Gryffindor Housemates, but Nikoli is a very sociable person and tends to move around different groups of people in general. He gets on well with the girls and enjoys pranking people with Celine, Linda and Teddy.

He is bisexual and will flirt with pretty much anyone. In the beginning he had a crush on Teddy but it faded pretty quickly. He does have a crush on Toby Wood though, who is a year below him.

Josh Desilva is the only child of Muggleborns who went to Ilvermorny but moved to Wales after graduating. His parents were in hiding for some of the Wizarding War because of their blood status, but tried their best to help Muggles and other Muggleborns in the surrounding area. Josh grew up in Wales, and has only visited America a handful of times to meet his family over there.

From a young age, Josh experienced gender dysmorphia, and while his parents helped him as best they could with it, it wasn’t until he started Hogwarts and found people that were more accepting of him than those in the little village he’d grown up in, that Josh gained confidence with his identity. His friends were supportive during his transition, and it was Teddy’s dormitory that ensured there was room for Josh with them.

Josh is a Ravenclaw and is possibly the most anxious out of the friendship group, constantly trying to make sure the others don’t get into too much trouble. He’s a Prefect for their year group as well, which occasionally puts him into difficult situations with the pranks he knows they are planning.

"....Logan... Thats great honey but.. you just said that infront of 20 12 year olds.."

"Goddess, give me strength with these two..."

Ororo held the bridge of her nose, skimming incident reports, of which students had already tattled.

"...Logan.."

"I-it was an accident. I didn't mean to.. word it.. like that...It just came out!"

Wade, who was smug as ever was leaning back on his chair, smirking. "Ssuuurree"

"Hush it! Mr. Wilson, this is a serious thing. Some of the kids already told their parents." The headmistress said, with a groan.

"I'll publish an offical apology I just... I-..."

"He got excited after he saw Rachel."

Ororo shoots him a glare as he falls back on the chair, hitting the floor with a "omph-"

"I understand that I am very happy for the two of you but come on, Logan. 'I wanna breed you'?? Infront of all those students? This could be troubled if not immediately handled."

"Now just a minute, If Mr. Scotty mc fuckface gets to show off his baby to everyone whats the difference of us saying were gonna have a baby too? And if they're 12, surely they've seen animal planet by now!" He protests, getting up and fixing the chair. "It's bassically the same thing! If Jean gets to tell everyone she got creampied why cant we?"

"Wade.." she holds her temples, her temper rising. "You know damn well why.. if he would have said,'Were gonna have a baby,' that could be defendable, but 'I wanna breed you' is too explicit! And quite frankly absurd." She mumbles, sighing as she turned to a very red, very guilty and shameful looking Logan.

"Look.. Lo... Im proud of you for being able to express yourself so freely here.. but could you please please PLEASE for the love of our lawyer fees never say that ever again?"

He nods. Softly. Still quite ashamed.

"It'll be your job to release a formal apology to the parents.. you're lucky it's the weekend so you'll have plenty of time to call each parent on this list personally as well as media wise."

"Do I have to apologize for being bred later too?" Wade asks, loving that this topic was all about him.

"No! And as far as you're aware you shouldn't bring up this situation anymore... Logan... sweetheart..." She scolded him, turning to put her hand out on his. "I hope you get everything you want in life. Even..... 'breeding'.... that" her eyes glance to Wade chewing his nails. "If that is what makes you happy. For now, let's try to distance ourselves from Rachel to prevent any further sudden... urges. While at school. Okay?"

Logan nods in understanding, blushing a bit more. He's never thought he'd ever hear Ro say 'breeding' before, and it sounded hilarious in her accent.

"Can I hold Rachel?"

"Are you going to announce to an entire room of tweens that you want your husband to impregnate you?"

"Hmmm... maybe-"

"Then no."

"Awww...."

Leaving, It seemed everyone had already heard because some of the older kids would giggle when they passed, fellow staff smiling and waving- well- Except Pietro whos nose crinkled at the sight of them. "Gross." He muttered, running off.

He didn't mean it. He never meant it. He was the kind of guy who came off homophobic but has been on multiple dates with Kurt. Sometimes, he still acted like a kid who thought his parents kissing was gross, especially making fake puke sounds when he saw Rouge giving her mans a smooch before class and purposly embaressed students. "Aaaauugh yuck! I just cleaned these lockers!" He'd say loudly. "Now come on! Quit suckin' face and get to class... you little hooligans." See, no one actually made him PDA control. He just.. did it for fun.

Logan frowns, feeling exactly that. Gross.

"Hi Mr. Logan." The sleepy lion says, coming up to him only to lean against him. Jesus they really needed to get this kid checked for narcolepsy or something..

"Hey kid... you going home for the weekend?"

He nods, yawning as Logan patted his back.

"Yeah? Well go to bed early on sunday so you don't fall asleep in Mr. Barnes' class anymore okay?"

"But it's so boring."

"It's not boring, again, you just get discouraged because history is not one of your strong suits." Logan tells him, watching as Wade squated down. "Yeah! Wheres that courage we talked about little soilder? Stiffin up! Show me a salute, maggot!" He teases, making the kid smile sleepily as he stood up straight, giving him the worlds laziest salute.

"Aye aye aye no- whats that? Palm out??? No way! That means we lost the war and we aint loose shit!"

"Wade-"

"Sorry. Crap. Palm in-" he says fixing the boys hand and stood up straight himself, returning it.

"Good! Now give us a roar!"

"... rawr.."

"Oh come on! Tumblr freaks can do better then that! Let me hear ya!"

"Rahr!"

"Aayyee!! We'll make a lionheart out of you yet!"

Watching as this unfolded, Logans eyes softened, smiling that goofy ahh smirk he got whenever Wade interacted with children, especially those with low confidence.

"Yeah! Now run along kid. And don't worry. Your mane will come in any day now and the lionesses will be all over ya!" He encourages him, patting his head and shooed him off.

"Heh.. Bye Mr. Howlett... bye Mr. Logan.."

"Bye kiddo...... Wade?"

"Yeah, peanut?" He smiles, standing, taking his hand as they walked out of the mansion doors.

"....I wanna have a baby." He says, monotonely.

Wade giggles loudly. "We can try!"

Obviously, the 'trying' didn't work, but Logan felt a lot better, less pent up and more relaxed.

Right now, he was in his boxers, scrubbing the mattress, the sheets and clothes in the hamper, ready to be washed. He sighs, humming along to the soft lullabies that Wade's phone is playing in the living room.

Currently, Wade was on the couch, feeling a lot better too, the endorphins rushing over him like a pain of morphine, numbing his pain for the day. It started off with him resting there and rocking Evelyn because they 'woke her', him singing softly only to end up falling asleep, now subconsciously rocking the small wooden cradle.

Bringing the laundry out, he stops, pausing in his tracts at the sight.

There on the couch, Wade slept so soundly, dreaming of something, probably Evelyn again. He has been dreaming of her each night this week to the point it was starting to concern Logan. Once, what was a nice toy to play with now becoming their actual practice daughter.

"...divin uhp... the uni...verse..." He was even sleep singing to her still, one hand off the couch, rocking 'her'. At least, that's what he must have thought, but in reality Puppins had found herself cozy in the cradle and Eve was in the crook of Wades neck. He was even holding her there, as if she'd crawl off of him and fall off the couch.

Logan's heart swelled. Putting down the basket, he went to him, tugging the couch blanket over top of him, leaning down to kiss his forehead, and as ridiculous as he felt, Evelyn's too.

Just before he could walk off, Puppin's had sat up her head, giving him a dirty look.

'Oh youll kiss the doll but not me? Wwwooowww' was her exact expression.

Chuckling, Logan leaned down, kissing her head too. "Happy?"

Her tail wagged as she lowered her head back down into the soft bed, the happiest little dog ever.

Taking out his phone, he just had to capture this, taking multiple pictures of them all, close ups on puppins, and the fact that Wade was rocking her and not their daughter.

God.. he loved them so much... what did he ever do to deserve such a happy little family?

After taking this moment in, he sighs, his shoulders dropping as he shakes his head, continuing to clean up their mess before Althea and Carla came back from bingo.

"...goo'night.." Wade mumbled.

And suddenly? Logan was pent up again..

Baby Evelyn update

Todays the day.

Todays the day Wade gets to hold Rachel. Despite protests from both sides, Logan worried he would drop the baby, scott a bit too possessive of her, but Jean had already decided it was important that Rachel become accustomed to different looking mutants from a young age.

Kurt had already had his go, being super careful with the darling child as well as Hank and Gambit who immediately got looks from Rouge as if he were a home cooked deep fried pork chop, collard greens and corn bread dinner.

Rachel had cried with each of them. Every single person, only stopping her crying when spoken to and shushed. Well- not Hank. He gave Rachel back instantly, worried he upset her with his appearance.

Logan had already heard about this and was worried. What if Rachel cried too much and it made Wade feel terrible? He knew if Wade dropped her Jean would personally find a way to permanently kill him, so this worried him just as much, deciding to stay close by so he could scoop up the baby if Wade panicked.

From the moment he saw her, Wade gasped, Squealing and flapping his hands in excitment.

"Logan!! That's a baby!" He announced, as if he was blind or something.

Swallowing, Logan gave a look to Jean. "Are you positive about this?"

She nods. "I am. Ive seen in there. He would never purposely hurt a child."

"You've only seen 2 seconds' worth." He scoffed, the fur on the back of his neck rising up as she slowly handed Rachel to him, who automatically supported the back of her neck and brought her close to his body.

For a coulple seconds he just stared at her the way Wade stared at all things little like babies and puppies, kittens, and even baby opossums. He just was pure like that. Sure, he could merc an evil 17 year old or hell, even a 15 year old but a baby? An infant who couldn't even sit up? There's no way in hell. No amount of money could overdrive his fraternal drive to be a good father.

It wasn't until Wade said "Hi baby" and smiled so widely that Rachel started crying, whining and calling for her mama. "Oh no- don't cry. It's okay. Come'ere. It's alright, baby... shh." He says, putting her into his pec as he bounced her and patted her softly.

Jean smiles at him, giving Logan that look of 'I told you so' when Rachel stops crying.

But Logan only blinks. Rachel didn't stop crying because of Wade. She was staring directly at Logan, reaching out a little hand for him.

Hesitantly, he put his finger out, letting Rachel take his finger. Her hand was so tiny... she was practically a spittin image of Jean minus a few features, like that scrunch in her tiny brow. That was definitely Scotts.

Her eyes were a copy and paste of Jean's, her hair a little darker, more copper than the bright red he knew her for.

Seeing this, Wade grins, turning her to see Logan better. The finger grip became tighter as she giggled, coeing nonsense.

"Now don't go pulling a twilight on the baby, Loagie." He teases, though the way Logan stared at the infant made his smile small.

"...Loagie?"

"What's 'pulling a twilight'?" Jean asks, not very concerned in how captivated the man was in the tiny fingers holding him.

"There's this werewolf guy, and he inprints on Bella's baby. It's weird."

It was now that she frowned a bit. "You're imprinting on Rachel?"

Still staring, Logan gave a soft shake of the head. "What? No! He's just messing around...She just.. wont let go.." he says, blinking again. He couldn't stop staring at her. Litsening to every giggle and coe. As if he was supposed to have memories of his own daughters like this... but didn't..

"Ohh, right.. this is your first time getting to know a baby in a long time, isn't it?" Wade asks, knowing that, biologically, his wolvie didn't have any children. None that were alive anyway. So, seeing a baby must be different for him.

"Huh?"

"I was saying-"

"Can... can I hold her?" He asks, glancing to Jean who was curious about what was going on in Logan's head, but nodded. "Why don't you sit with her and Ill go make her a bottle. Don't drop her or ill kill you~" She sings but Logan knows shes serious. He chuckles. "I know you will."

And so he did, sitting on the couch in the lounge room with the small baby, staring at her, his grip a bit too much. Wade whines, leaning over the side of the couch with a sigh. "I was supposed to hold her.."

"You did hold her."

"Well it's my turn again!"

Reaching his hand out to take Rachel back, Logan grabbed his wrist, looking at him like he couldn't relax enough to let Wade's actions slide.

"Ooh.. Wolvie.." He slowly smirks, pulling his hand away, leaning over to kiss his cheek. "You like her!"

"No.. she's just.. fragile." He says.

"But im careful with her. Besides, you don't act like this with Evelyn!"

".. Evelyn can't giggle like this.." He mumbles, letting the baby try to break her teeth in on his finger, a soft fond smile coming to his face.

The man behind him pouts at first, slightly jealous before slowly realizing that neither Logans got to hold baby Laura or even infant Gabby. So this must be a whole new thing for him. Something he never got to do and missed out on.

Before he could mention possibly giving him this experience, Leo came to curl up on the couch next to him, laying against the Wolverine. Lions usually didn't get along with Wolvies in the wild, but this one adored Logan, his personal mentor.

"Hey kid... do you wanna see?"

Shifting to look at the baby, his tail swished softly. "Did you and Ms. Summers have a baby, Mr. Logan?"

"No, they did not."

Before either of them could awnser, Scott had come downstairs, probably looking for his wife and newly born daughter.

"Rachel is my daughter... Shouldn't you be in class?"

Leo whined a bit, flickering his tail a bit annoyed. ".. I don't like gym with Mr. Wagner.. he doesn't play fair." The child complains, simply wanting to nap.

"Kurt plays fair, Leo. You just get discouraged because you dont like that you cant pounce on him when he poofs away. Trust me.. been there." Logan tells him, giving him a nod of his head, gesturing him to get back to class before Kurt had a heart attack for losing a kid.

Wade ruffles the kids' hair, smirking. "Come on, kitty cat... before the cat fight starts." He mutters under his breath, taking Leo back outside to his class, leaving the modern day Jacob and Edward to fight over their red headed Bella, who was still in the kitchen, unaware of the stare down currently happening.

"...She's beautiful." It's Logan who looks away first, knowing this wasn't his child to defend. As much as he felt it in his bones, there was no reason to protect her from invisible danger.

"Just like her mother." The headmaster mumbles, reaching for her.

Reluctantly, Logan finally gave her up, prying Rachels small hand off his pointer finger.

Watching how Scott took her and held her close made him wonder..

"...Slim."

"What is it, Logan?"

For a moment, He was quiet, trying to think of how to say it. "...You didn't get to raise Nathan... right?"

"No.. what does that have to do with anything?"

"So.. this is your first baby."

"Yeah.. she cries a lot at night, but.. shes my everything.."

Logan snickers. "Yeah.. I can tell. You look like shit."

"Oh wow, thanks...wait why do you ask?"

".... I didn't get to raise Laura.. or Gabby... Or.. really any of them.."

At first, Scott wanted to ask what that has to do with him, what do you want me to do about it? But just sighed, finally letting himself drop the 'I know what i'm doing, im the leader' confidence act.

"I won't lie.. It's rough.. I don't have any baby pictures of him. I dont even know what he got for his 5th birthday. Or his 18th. I don't.... I don't know anything about my own son.. and it's not like he visits.. at least you always know where yours are.." He admits.

Logan frowns, thinking about this. He hated how he felt so similarly. He didn't even know Laura until recently. Not as a person. He didn't even know her favorite color. But now he knew everything. Her favorite foods, what movies she liked, her fashion sense, who she's crushed on, who she currently is crushing on. And he was grateful that she trusted him enough to tell him all these things... so he could only imagine what it would be like if she wasn't in town, let alone in the same decade as him.

"...I think Wade wants a baby.."

Scott turned, giving him a 'wtf' glance and brow scrunch that made Logan chuckle. Yup.. Rachel was definitely Scottys..

"That's... God do I need to put him in Gambits sex ed class?"

He snorted, laughing. It made his face soften, looking at him with a fondess that was old and dried up. Only becoming watered very briefly once every couple of months.

"Maybe! Heh.. no but... really. And.. its not like I would mind but-" he took a deep breath, grabbing at the old sunwashed jeans. "Im scared.."

"What?" Theres that scrunch again.

"You're the Wolverine.. you don't GET scared.."

"I know.. but I am. What if I... what if I mess up? What if.. I dont know. What if Im the worst dad ever? I've never raised a baby before.. not like this." Logan spits out, groaning as his hand goes to his face, leaning forward.

"Psh.. you really are nothing like him are you?"

"What?"

"The other Logan- My.. Logan.. would never even worry about that. Let alone talk to ME about it."

"Why?"

"Because I'd tell you that you're a massive moron."

Logan gives him a side eyed glare. "Wow... thanks.. feel so much better now.."

Scott smirks. "No. Look- Do you know how many times Gabrielle ends up in my office?"

"Yes. I know. She has a biting problem. We are working on it-" He groans, leaning back into the sofa.

"Yes but you KNOW those things... I don't even know WHERE my son is. And you know exactly whos room shes in right now."

"Poor, Ro.."

"Poor Gabrielle." Scott mumbles. "My point is.. you've always been... aware... noticeable.. of things that other people aren't. And I think... I think you would be a great dad. Sure, you get paid in dirty diapers and shitty sleep but.. its worth it."

The two smile at the baby, who was still coeing up a storm, gabbing and giggling.

"Shes very vocal for such a young age.."

"See? I didn't even realize.." He trails off before sighing and standing with a grunt. "Gotta go find mommy. Don't we, my sunshine?" He coes back, nuzzling the tiny thing with his nose. "Whew! And maybe change you... well.. Bye Logan.."

"Bye Cyk...Bye Rachel." He says, watching him walk off as he started humming,

Logan sees as he meets up with Jean, taking the bottle and leaning against her, kissing her head and little rachel kicking her feet, excited to see her mother.

A deep sigh comes from him, getting up as he goes to find Wade. Okay.. okay, you can do this its only a couple of words. It won't be hard. And they're already married so what was the big deal? Nothing to worry about now.

"Wade-" He enters the basketball court.

"I wanna breed you."

The court goes silent, children staring and some compemtly dropping their basketballs. Even Kurt drops from the place he was hanging, landing on his head in shock. "Wha!?- YEowuch!"

"...Peanut...This is a class..."

Museum for Art in Wood (Part 5)

The last of my posts about the Museum for Art in Wood! This is the set of things that made me or my companion say, This ought to be a SFF book cover, or a story prompt, or some other speculative fiction type-thing.

For instance, every single thing on this shelf is a SFF story. By Fabrice Micha: 370, Sculpture and 632, Castle. By Michael Mode: 636, Akbar's Delight. By Michael Mocho, 505, Satinwood Hollow Form; 635, Box; and 467, Sentinel.

These two ought to be Yuletide fandoms: A Collection of Goblets, Chalices, and Spirit Vessels from the Seventeen Peoples of the Eight Inner Worlds by Stephen Mark Paulsen, which is incredibly hard to photograph but the official photo is hardly any better??

And Desert Winter on Marquard IV, and Twelve Sacred Objects Exposed by the Storm by the same artist; fortunately the official photo is pretty decent because mine is not worth looking at.

Self Portrait by Michelle Holzapfel. This one feels very like a book cover (and actually has an artist statement at the link!).

I was going to put this one in "Sculpture" and then I saw the title: Post Nuclear Vessel by Ron Kent.

Ditto except that it's The Shedding Skin of Evelyn Mind by Jay Heryet.

I was so enamored of the spiky nature of the one on the front left that I didn't notice it was matches until my companion pointed it out; I was thinking mouths or viruses. (It's called Art Object to be Destroyed by Hilary Pfeifer, Dennis Carr, and Neil Scobie.) And I think the one on the right is a spaceship, though the artist Rolly Munro calls it Oceanic Angel. (I don't know what the one in the back left is.)

Interactive by Andrew Potocnik made me think of if n-tailed foxes shed all their tails at once. (The components are arranged differently in the website picture, basically parallel.)

That sure is a Space Burger, by Hap Sakwa.

I'm delighted to say that my companion pointed out the picture on the left below as something from Star Wars. And it is actually titled Vader Box #3, by Stephen Hughes. (Just visible to the right is the gas giant it's flying around, Strata by Grant Vaughan.)

This is a Great Fairy Fountain, was my first thought. But it genuinely belongs in this section: it's titled Grapefruit to the Moon, by Steve Madsen, and it does open up (pictures at link).

This is somewhere between War of the Worlds and a beetle. (Dancing Tryclops by Michael Brolly.)

Finally, this is incredibly charming and I'm glad the website picture is decent because there wasn't room for me to get one: Time Standing Still by Po Shun Leong and Bob Stocksdale.

And now I'm finally done, woo!

Norman McLaren

Norman McLaren was born in Stirling, Scotland, on April 11, 1914. He had two older siblings, a brother named Jack, and a sister named Sheena. At 21, he went to Russia for a vacation, which solidified his communist beliefs, much to his father's dismay who had funded the trip hoping to change his mind.

At the age of 22, McLaren left Stirling to study set design at the Glasgow School of Art. While there, he joined the Kinecraft Society and began experimenting with various filmmaking styles and techniques. It was at the Glasgow School of Art where he met Helen Biggar, and together they created films outside of school, aiming for national recognition.

In his early film experiments, McLaren would scratch and paint directly onto the film stock due to limited access to a camera. One of his earliest surviving films, Seven Till Five (1935), was influenced by Eisenstein and showcased a formalist approach.

McLaren's film Camera Makes Whoopee (1935) further explored the themes of Seven Till Five, inspired by his new Ciné-Kodak camera. This allowed him to create various 'trick' shots using pixilation effects, superimpositions, and animation to capture the essence of an art school ball.

Both of McLaren's early films received awards at the Scottish Amateur Film Festival, where John Grierson, a fellow Scot and future NFB founder, served as a judge.

In 1941, Grierson invited McLaren to move to Ottawa and join the National Film Board. McLaren's main tasks were to establish an animation studio, train Canadian animators, and create promotional films. Upon his arrival, he collaborated with American director Mary Ellen Bute on two films called Spook Sport and Tarantella. One of his notable works was a promotional film called Mail Early, which reminded Canadians to send their Christmas cards on time. McLaren also contributed to Allied propaganda documentary films by creating animated shorts and maps. He later worked on a series of animated French songs called Chants Populaire in 1943. In 1944 and 1945, McLaren produced a similar series in English called Let's All Sing Together.

By 1942, the demand for animation at the NFB had grown rapidly, and McLaren struggled to keep up. Grierson then asked him to recruit art students and form a small animation team. However, this task proved challenging as many students had enlisted in the war. McLaren managed to find recruits from the École des beaux-arts de Montréal and the Ontario College of Art, including talented individuals like René Jodoin, George Dunning, Jim McKay, Grant Munro, and Evelyn Lambart, who would become his future collaborator. McLaren trained these emerging animators, and together they worked on various projects such as cartoons, animated cards, and propaganda documentaries. In January 1943, Studio A, the NFB's first animation studio, was officially established with McLaren as its head.

Throughout his time at the NFB, McLaren created a total of 70 films. Some notable works include Begone Dull Care, Rythmetic, Christmas Cracker, Pas de Deux, and the Oscar-winning Neighbours. Neighbors is particularly remarkable for its powerful combination of visuals and sound, delivering a strong social message against violence and war. McLaren's talent and dedication were recognized with awards such as the Short Film Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film for Blinkity Blank. In fact, McLaren chose Blinkity Blank as his diploma piece when he was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.

McLaren collaborated with UNESCO during the 1950s and 1960s to develop educational programs focusing on film and animation techniques in China and India. His series of "Animated Motion" shorts, created in the late 1970s, serve as a valuable resource for learning the fundamentals of film animation.

His legacy -

McLaren's legacy lives on through various tributes and honours. The National Film Board paid tribute to McLaren by naming its Montreal headquarters the Norman McLaren Building. Additionally, the borough of Saint-Laurent, where the NFB is located, is named a district after McLaren. In 1979, the Edinburgh Film house dedicated two seats to McLaren and Grierson. McLaren was also the focus of the short animated documentary "McLaren's Negatives" in 2006. The NFB celebrated the 65th anniversary of NFB animation in the same year with a retrospective of McLaren's restored classics and a new DVD box set of his complete works. Furthermore, in June 2013, the NFB released the "McLaren's Workshop" app on iTunes, allowing users to create films using McLaren's animation techniques. In June 2018, a ballet titled "Frame by Frame," inspired by McLaren's life and work, was staged by Robert Lepage, principal dancer Guillaume Côté, and the National Ballet of Canada. McLaren's influence has even reached filmmaker George Lucas, who has acknowledged McLaren as an inspiration for his own work.
