That’s Not My Name
Pairing: Charles Leclerc x Hispanic/Latina! Reader
Summary: Y/N decides to prank her boyfriend by not calling him by his nicknames
Warning: spelling and grammatical errors
A/N: I haven’t posted Charles Leclerc content in a while and I’m SORRY, i am working on them, te lo juro juradito por las haditas.
Tumblr media
Y/N was cooking dinner while Charles was working on a new song, gotta love his side quests. While she was cooking, she was on FaceTime with her friend, Vivian.
“Viv, I’m not gonna do that.” Y/N said.
“You should! My boyfriend freaked the fuck out when I called him by his government name.” Vivian replied.
“He’s gonna get all sad and I can’t handle that.” Y/N said.
“But it will be so funny. Besides, I think he deserves it after calling you Romina, don’t you think?” Vivian asked.
“But that was so long ago, and I don’t think I should be pulling pranks like this after what happened in the triple header.” Y/N said.
“Do it, do it, do it.” Vivian said
“Always the instigator.” Y/N said.
“Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please..” Vivian begged.
“Alright! Are you sure you weren’t the youngest child?” Y/N asked.
“Haha, I’ll call you later, tell me how it went.” Vivian hung up and Y/N charged her phone. She drained some of the past water but not all of it, mixed in the eggs and Parmesan cheese mix into the pot, added pancetta and pepper, and fettuccini carbonara was finished.
“Charles, dinner is ready!” Y/N yelled. Charles stopped playing piano and had a very confused look on his face. He did not move. “Charles, I made carbonara!” Y/N yelled but charles didn’t move so she went to him and saw his face. “Quita esa cara de tonto and come eat.” Wipe that dumb look off your face
“You called me Charles.” Charles said.
“Well duh, that’s your name, now please come into the kitchen to get your pasta before it gets cold and I eat without you.” Y/N says, walking back into the kitchen. Charles got up to follow her. Y/N served herself the carbonara and served some for charles, both walked into the dining room to sit. Y/N served herself soda and gave charles water.
“Did I do something?” Charles asked.
“No, why do you ask, Charles?” Y/N asked, eating the pasta. “Ugh, I love carbonara.”
“Because you keep calling me Charles!” Charles exclaimed.
“Because that’s your given name! Your name is Charles Marc Hervé Perceval Leclerc, which is such a pretentious name might I add, but it does suit you.” Y/N said, drinking some soda.
“Are you mad at me or something? How come you’re not calling me muñeco?” Charles asked with a pout.
“I Don’t know, did you do something to make me mad?” Y/N asked.
“I didn’t do anything.” Charles replied.
“Then I am not mad. Now drop it and eat, you love pasta.” Y/N said. They continued to eat in silence. Y/N then served herself more pasta because reheated carbonara is not good at all. Once both have finished eating, they put their plates in the sink.
“Is it because I don’t help around the house?” Charles asked, breaking the silence.
“Charles…” Y/N said exasperatedly.
“I’ll wash the dishes, Mon coeur.” Charles said, kissing her cheek.
“Thank you, Charles.” Y/N said. She went to the couch and when Charles finished the dishes, he sat next to Y/N. “What do you want to watch, Charles?”
“That’s not my name, Mon coeur.” Charles whined and Y/N laughed.
“What do you mean that’s not your name? Your name is Charles. It’s not like I’m calling you Eugene or something.” Y/N commented and that’s when it clicked for Charles.
“Is this because I pranked you?” Charles asked incredulously
“Yes it is, muñeco.” Y/N said and Charles hugged Y/N.
“You called me muñeco again. I thought I really did something.” Charles said.
“No, you didn’t do anything, Viv convinced me to pull this prank.” Y/N said,
“Your friend Vivian? Remind me to cancel her Prada order.” Charles said and Y/N laughed.
“Oh come on, mi vida, that’s for her birthday.” Y/N said.
“Then she won’t get a Christmas gift.” Charles said.
“Fair,” Y/N said, kissing Charles and they’ve chosen to watch Gossip Girl.
The End
Hope y’all liked it! Sorry for the lack of Charles content, I was busy posting for Lando, Logan, and Oscar if you ever want to read those, Masterlist for them coming soon!

vat7k headcanons?
oh my gosh my time has come (you will probably regret this)
so first off imma reference my like three other posts i've made on the topic because i'm a nerd
starting with lgbt+ headcanons-
hugo is genderfluid and likes men i don't make the rules (he/she/they)
i am very much a trans varian truther. in my mind they use he/they pronouns and is also very biromantic
transing nuru's gender too- i love transfemme nuru (she/her) and also she's a lesbian definitely
yong gets the aroace nonbinary treatment
okay moving on to headcanons about languages-
its canon that varian speaks like three languages but i headcanon that he is fluent in coronan, saporian, and is learning the dark kingdom's language
hugo definitely knows so many languages because he gets around. i like to think he's fluent in ingvarran, coronan and bayangoran
i love the idea that yong is still learning coronan and that hugo sometimes has to translate for him or they repeat things for him sometimes because varian talks too fast or they use an unfamiliar word or like accents trip him up
on a seperate note in my mind coronan is german, bayangoran is mandarin, ingvarran is farsi (based on this post)
one of my favorite possible vat7k storylines is when hugo finds out about varian's past and i love the idea that he found out because of a wanted poster they found- perfect angst potential. on that note, i also believe that the rest of them would have heard about varian (the alchemist) when he was still wanted for example
hugo would have been told about him from donella, whether he was always told to be better and be like varian, or that he admired varian and thought he was really cool and dreamed of working with him
nuru had heard about him through horror stories about the kidnapping and attempted murder of the royal family. she most likely would have been scared of varian when she found out, not trusting him not to hurt her
i honestly think yong wouldn't understand. i don't think his parents would have told him if they even knew, and he would have been like seven at the time, so
hugo was varian's bi awakening except not really. he had liked guys before that but hadn't realized that was what he was feeling
they definitely met cass while on their adventures and she definitely had a girlfriend
ruddiger and prometheus hate each other
hugo is extremely jealous of ruddiger as well. ah yes him, his boyfriend, and his boyfriend's raccoon that's taking up all his attention
firmly believing in hugo showing up one day with period products because he might be a loser but he's not a jerk and nuru not knowing how to tell him she's trans while varian (also not out) comes up and just takes the pads being like 'thanks i needed these'
varigo-
t4t obviously
also they're both neurodivergent i dont make the rules
they hate each other but like not
like in the sense that, if they were asked if they liked each other, they would be like ew gross no i hate this man
and then at the end of the conversation varian kisses hugo on the cheek and is just like see you at home babe and everyone is like w h a t
they argue nonstop, to the point of being violent, and then someone changes the subject and hugo's in varian's lap
obsessed with that one au where they were in prison together
also obsessed with hugo dropping the piano on eugene's head
this entire post
might add to this later but here you go have fun!

Nevermore student!Tyler x Thorpe!Reader
This is part 2 of my series. You can find part 1 here. Pt 3 here!
This story is also on ao3
Let me know what you think!
Tumblr media
***
Your things arrive in the early afternoon that day and you know yourself well enough to be sure that if you don't deal with unpacking now, you certainly won't do it once the classes start and at some point in the near future your side of the room will turn into pure unmitigated chaos.
Of course to you, it won't be much different from how your room at home usually is at any given moment, but you're sharing space with someone else now and it seems disrespectful to let it get to that state. So you politely decline Bianca’s invitation to go see a movie with her and Yoko and get to work.
Unpacking clothes takes the most time but ultimately everything fits in the closet and there’s even some semblance of order to it. You’re not by any means an organized person so you don't expect it to last, but for now, a win is a win. Next are books and plushies that you put in an open bookcase near your table. Compared to Bianca's side, yours already looks a little spazzy. But you’re not too worried. She doesn't seem like a person who would judge you for that.
It's kind of interesting, actually. Tyler was right when he said she has a certain reputation in Nevermore. But just like with Xavier, when you start to get to know her, you realize she’s very different from the character she's trying to present to the world. Perhaps that's the reason they didn't work out. They were trying to build a relationship between their public personas, while the real people probably felt lonely and not seen.
You retrieve your laptop, a tangle of chargers, your portable speaker, and a few pairs of headphones from the last box, and then, finally, you move to unshackle your baby Yamaha from the layers of bubble wrap. You were initially reluctant to trust movers with it but at the end of the day, it weighed way too much for you to carry, and it was also rather chunky, especially compared to your not-particularly-imposing frame.
After thoroughly examining your synthesizer for any damage, and concluding that there is none to be found, you relax, plug it in, and start playing little bits and pieces of songs you like, as a warm-up
Music is something that never fails to bring you a little peace of mind. You’ve been playing piano since you were four and always liked to learn new songs from the artists you listened to. Sometimes you would learn something you know Xavi or your dad particularly enjoy.
But playing other people’s music, while very fun and enjoyable, is not the end goal. Your dream is to one day write your own music. You already do, as a matter of fact, but you’ve never played it for anyone.
You wonder what kind of music Tyler likes to listen to and as if on their own accord, your hands set the drum rhythm and you find yourself playing the intro to the Ghost Ship of Cannibal Rats. For all that he looks like a love interest in a Taylor Swift music video, you feel like Tyler prefers something alternative, more… gritty. You'll make sure to ask him the next time you see him.
You binge half a season of Brooklyn 9-9 and then head out on a journey to find a laundry room, where you meet a sweet little pumpkin named Eugene. He shows you how to operate the washing machines and makes a great pitch about his extracurricular club, but the only things you really know about bees is that they’re an important part of the ecosystem and a song from the Bee Movie soundtrack that you learned to torment Xavier over Christmas break a few years ago. But Eugene is so sweet and so enthusiastic about the whole thing that you don't find it in yourself to turn him down and promise to think about it.
Lunch rolls around you can’t say you’re particularly excited to face the public after Xavier’s dramatics this morning, but a girl has to eat so you women up and drag your ass downstairs.
Thankfully, the dining hall is a lot less crowded than it was at breakfast. Everyone's probably out in Jericho for the day. Bianca and her friends are nowhere to be seen. So is your brother. Unfortunately, so is Tyler.
That last one kinda puts you in a bit of a desolate mood.
You still grab a seat at the corner table and tuck into your chicken wrap. No one seems to pay you much attention aside from a few stray glances. But that's nothing new, both you and your brother aren’t exactly hard on the eyes.
You enjoy your lunch in relative peace until you notice someone staring. A familiar-looking blonde girl looks straight at you from the nearby table. When you meet her eyes, she waves at you enthusiastically. Very enthusiastically. It clicks why she looks familiar when you see who she's sitting with. It’s that little goth girl that got your brother all in his feels.
Oh, this should be interesting. You put on a smile you always use when doing publicity for your dad and wave back at her.
It’s all the encouragement she needs to leap to her feet and head to your table with her friend—who seems decidedly less enthusiastic about the entire affair—in tow.
"Hi! I'm Enid Sinclair. I just wanted to say I'm a huge fan and I'm so glad you're at Nevermore now, and I hope we can become friends."
People often accost you with similar intentions. Usually because of your father's fame, but recently you started gaining some following of your own as well.
Tiktok remains the only social media where your father's PR team can’t usurp control from you—because they're low-key a bunch of old farts and no one seems to understand how to operate it for publicity— so it’s the only social media you have on principle. You post song covers, film cool street buskers, and sometimes videos of you skateboarding. You amassed something around 100k followers which by TikTok standards isn’t really that impressive, but your views are consistent, so in your old school it attracted literally the worst type of people: clout chasers. Making friends became basically impossible. Because that's what you wanted. Friends. Not an entourage.
But this girl, you’re surprised to find, doesn’t seem like the type. She’s genuine in her excitement and just wants to be friends with someone she thinks is cool. It’s heartwarming and you don’t even notice when your publicity smile turns into a sincere one.
You extend your hand for a handshake. "Pleasure to meet you, Enid. And who’s the shadow of perpetual doom behind you?
"Wednesday. Wednesday Addams." She introduces herself, giving you a scrutinizing look. And wow, does she not blink?
Yeah, Xavier has no business giving you shit for your taste in boys when he’s in love with little miss American Psycho.
"Do you girls want to sit down? I'm not done with my lunch so you could keep me company if you want?"
"Sure!” Enid exclaims excitedly, already pulling a chair for herself.
Wednesday hesitates for a moment but ultimately takes a seat as well.
"Have you already decided what elective classes you're gonna-" starts Enid.
"How do you know Tyler Galpin?" Wednesday cuts her off. Which first, rude . And second, what does she care?
"I don't really. We met yesterday, when I arrived. He helped me haul my luggage to the top floor, "you reply between bites.
"You sat with him at breakfast."
Alrighty, you didn't realize it was an interrogation, but sure, why not?
"Well, I saw a familiar face, he was sitting there alone and he helped me out yesterday, so I thought why not." You try to keep your irritation at bay, but don’t completely succeed. Not that it makes any difference, because this girl clearly doesn’t like reading social cues.
"You don’t what he really is. He-"
"Right." You cut her off with an eye roll. "I heard that spiel already and I have eidetic memory so I don’t need an encore."
"The existence of eidetic memory is not proven by the psychiatric community," Wednesday says defiantly.
"It’s also not disproven, and since it relies heavily on the personal perception of an individual, there is no way to do either, really."
This puts you in a verbal stalemate of a sort and the atmosphere becomes quite heavy, but you just sip your tea nonperturbed.
Enid scrambles to change the subject.
"Have you heard Taylor Swift's new album already? Did you like it?"
You turn all your attention to her, clearly dismissing the previous topic of conversation. "Girl, you kidding? Of course, I did! It's brilliant, not that I expected anything less."
A muscle in Wednesday’s jaw twitches. Whether it’s because of the new topic or because you didn’t concede, you have no way of knowing.
"Ooooh," Enid squeals. "Do you plan on doing any covers? Your cover of No Body No Crime was sooo good, by the way. I got like actual chills."
"It was probably just the draft from the window you insist on keeping open at all times,” deadpans Wednesday.
"Yeah, to air out the smell of formaldehyde," Enid grumbles under her breath.
You have no idea what exactly your brother sees in Wednesday that makes him go yes, this is a perfect girl to be romantically interested in, and at this point, you’re getting more and more confident you don’t want to find out.
"You're so sweet, Enid. Thank you," you say. "I've actually really been vibin’ with Anti-Hero recently, so I'll probably do a cover soon."
Enid looks at Wednesday, then back at you, wheezing in delight. How can someone so small contain so much energy and enthusiasm you have no idea.
Wednesday seems a bit irritated, which given her general lack of emotional responses probably means that she’s in fact hella irritated. She clearly doesn't like to share her friend’s attention, so just to be petty you pull out your phone and ask: "Babes, what's your username? I'll follow you so we can be friends and send each other stuff. By the way, have you seen the new dance going around from this Netflix show? We could totally do a collab on that. I mean, I’m not much of a dancer myself, but it doesn't look too complicated."
Enid looks like she’s about to faint from trying not to shriek like a banshee in excitement. "It’s @ xoxoenid, your most reliable source for gossip in Nevermore."
Then she freezes in panic and as the page loads up on your phone, you see that she already made a few videos about you.
"I didn't say anything bad, I swear! But people were talking about why you and Xavier were arguing and why you were with Tyler… I can totally take it down if you want," she gets out hurriedly in one breath.
Wednesday, once again, looks peeved.
"It's cool, En. Don't worry about it. People gonna talk anyways I don't really care about that."
En, she mouths, looking a little starstruck.
You finish your lunch under Wednesday's scrutinizing glare while Enid talks a mile a minute, giving you a rundown on everyone's drama that you can't possibly follow because it's way too many new names at the same time.
When you're done, you make your goodbyes, wishing the two of them a great day. Or a terrible one, you add with a wide grin, looking at Wednesday. Whichever they’d prefer.
***
In the evening you make your way from Weems' office with a copy of your schedule and a signed referral from your therapist back home.
Most kids from Nevermore that go to therapy are referred to Dr. Kinnbot in Jericho but since your brother is already seeing her, it's unethical for her to see you too. So now you’re going to spend an hour and a half every Saturday driving to a bigger city to see a different therapist. From what Weems told you, he seems to be a good fit for you as he specializes in outcast psychology. But you’ll only know for sure after you’ve had a few sessions with him.
The way to get to Weems’ office from Persephone Hall is a bit complicated. You have to go down the stairs, exit the building, then walk around the building and re-enter it in a different wing. Of course, most people can just use the roof because it also has two exits, and this way you don’t need to go up and down the stairs a million times, which saves a lot of time. But most people aren’t dreadfully afraid of heights.
Well, you won’t be driving because you don’t have a license. You never really needed one back home and now some poor guy got stuck driving you because he’s also seeing the same doctor. Eh, at least he’ll have someone to chip in for gas. And both of you get an hour of free time in the city with an actual mall. Not to mention you have a dazzling personality, so come to think of it, he’s actually lucky to have you, all things considered.
When your powers manifested for the first time, you thought that it must be some kind of mockery from the universe. To give powers like that, to someone who has both acrophobia and aerophobia. Who could even come up with a joke that twisted?
You wrap yourself tighter in your winter coat against a gust of cold wind. You're almost by the main door when you see a cat. A chubby black cat with golden eyes that literally glow in the evening dark. He—you don’t actually know if he’s a he but you’re a native french speaker and calling animals it just doesn’t sit right with you—looks expectantly like he’s been waiting here for the longest time and you’re late and now he’s judging you for tardiness.
You come closer but as soon as do that, he turns around and proceeds to gracefully walk toward the creepy forest.
When you just stand there, dumbfounded, he turns around with a demanding meow and you really don’t feel like you have any other option than to follow him.
About fifteen minutes later, when you lose sight of that bossy cat and you don’t know where you are and can’t even locate the direction you came from, you think that this is just another joke at your expense from the universe. Your dad always says that one can not ignore the signs from the universe, as it is a path of lost opportunities. But right now, you feel like maybe you’re just illiterate and don’t read those signs correctly or something.
You hear the snow crunch behind you and then a snap, probably a twig. You turn around and see… well something.
You try not to panic and take out your phone to text your brother, even if it means a lecture and I told you so the size of the Jupiter. Ugh, you really don’t want to give his ego a boost of this proportion.
You've seen werewolves before and it looks a little bit like one, but at the same time, it doesn't. It looks more like someone tried to draw a werewolf from memory. The creature is bigger than a were but at the same time less proportional, its upper body longer and wider than the lower. Its face has more human traits than those of an animal, but something’s still a little off: its eyes and forehead are unproportionally big compared to the rest of the head.
You have no idea what the fuck it is you’re looking at and whether it's dangerous. A rule of thumb with anything of that size is usually to avoid at all cost. But it’s probably a little too late for that.
It's not attacking, but then again, you're just standing there not moving. If you run, there's a good chance it'll trigger its predator instinct. And there’s no way you can outrun it.
So you just stay where you are. Looking at it. And it also stays where it is. Looking at you.
You can't tell how sentient it is but it seems like it's thinking about something. Hopefully not about late dinner.
Its eyes, you notice, have a reddish tint to them and you think that should creep you out but for some reason it makes you think of pomegranates of all things.
The woods are very quiet. The only sounds you can really make out are its breathing and your own.
An absurd thought pops into your head then. The acoustics here must be great. You remember your vocal mentor, Ms. Welch, telling you that to really perfect acapella, you need to practice in open spaces.
And in what can only be a bout of temporary insanity, that's what you decide to do. Sing.
You take a deep breath not yet knowing what exactly it's going to be, but surprisingly, the words find you easily enough, and from then on, the whole thing just feels like an out-of-body experience.
“I've heard there was a secret chord”
The beast looks taken aback by you breaking this unspoken staring game.
“That David played, and it pleased the Lord”
It looks confused at first, then curious. Doesn't look like it’s gonna tear you to pieces at least, so you let your voice pick up a little volume.
“But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah”
The creature makes the tiniest move forward as if chasing your voice.
It startles you and, instinctively, you pull back and the creature immediately mirrors you, looking as if it's scared of scaring you. Scared that you'll stop singing.
You go through the chorus with a shaky voice, but it looks like whatever this thing is, it doesn't want to attack you, so your voice evens out and the next verse sounds way steadier.
"Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you"
Maybe the irony of singing that line to a mesmerized creature in the moonlight wouldn't be lost on you if all your thinking capabilities weren't paralyzed by primal fear, but alas.
As to why you do what you do next, you honestly have no fucking idea. Maybe you’re more fucked in the head than people give you credit for. Like, way more.
“She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah”
You take a step forward.
“Hallelujah”
Then another one.
“Hallelujah”
And one more.
“Hallelujah”
There is maybe a foot separating the two of you at best.
And somewhere in the back of your mind, you can hear a distant howl of your self-preservation instincts.
But the thing is.
You’re as mesmerized by this creature as it is by you.
It just seemed so sentient, its eyes so… intent.
And the closer you get to it, the more your fear dissipates.
And not only the immediate one, but the old and rusty one too, that felt like it was following you for months. Since the day your powers awakened, you realize suddenly.
“Maybe I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah”
“Hallelujah”
The creature gets on four paws before you.
“Hallelujah”
Takes a deep breath.
“Hallelujah”
Then another one.
“Hallelujah”
And then it lies down at your feet.
You're so shocked you think you might’ve messed up the order of the verses.
“Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you”
You crouch in front of it and carefully extend your hand towards its… face?
“It's not a cry you can hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah”
“Hallelujah”
Your first touch is feather-like, but when you're sure it doesn't want to bite your hand off, you gently stroke the top of its head.
“Hallelujah”
It closes its eyes and puts its head on its front paws.
“Hallelujah”
The forest is quiet once again and you look at the creature's calm form, just lying there like a big tired doggo.
Its skin starts to shift and bones start to rearrange themselves as you're watching the creature take a distinctly human shape. It takes you a good half a minute after it's done to realize that you know this human.
Shit.
***
Tyler
His consciousness returns slowly, all senses a bit muffled still. He’s in the forest, it’s dark and he doesn’t remember how he got here. Fuck.
After Thornhill's death, it feels like he lost all the control he had over the Hyde.
You've never had any control, he reminds himself sharply.
He takes a deep breath, recalling what his new therapist told him. You need to learn to reign in the Hyde on your terms, Tyler, not relearn what was forced on you. It will take time and patience. Be kind to yourself. Yeah, right.
“Umm, Tyler? You alright, dude?”
What?
“Oh shit, you’re like, butt-ass naked, oh my goodness.”
He opens his eyes and sees someone—presumably the owner of the voice—hastily pulling off a winter coat.
A girl?
She turns to look at him for only a second as she throws her coat in his direction and then turns her back to him once again.
Oh shit. He knows this face pretty well. He was shamelessly staring at it all morning.
“I swear I didn’t see anything and if I did I honestly can’t do anything about it because of my eidetic memory, but I promise I will never-” she starts rambling so fast he can barely understand what she’s saying.
“Y/n,” he asks, voice still hoarse. “Please stop talking.”
“Oh,” she pauses, “Sure sure sure, yeah. No problemo. Can totally do that, yeah.”
He gets up slowly and picks up the coat from the ground. He’s covered in dirt and the coat he picks up is light pink so he’ll probably mess it up, but he can’t just walk home naked like he did all those times before because he’s not alone now. Create new patterns for the Hyde to follow, Dr. Shin’s voice echoes in his head. Tyler doubts that’s what he meant when he said it, but whatever.
The coat thankfully is long enough to reach his knees, so he zips it up and tells y/n’s back: “Okay, I’m decent.”
She stops pacing and in mere seconds she’s in front of him, taking his face in her hands, presumably to check for any injuries. Her hands are warm and gentle and he can’t find anything to say, too shocked not only that she didn’t run but that her first concern is whether he is alright.
“You’re a bit dirty, but I don’t see any injuries, so I think you’ll live.” She carefully takes her hands off his face and awkwardly shoves them into the pockets of her jeans, like she doesn’t know where else to put ‘em.
“What happened? What are you doing here?” When he came to he was scared half to death he might’ve hurt her, but she seems unharmed and—what’s more baffling—unafraid, so now he’s just straight up confused.
“I was walking from Weems’ office and there was this cat- Wait a sec, you don’t remember what happened when you were all…” she imitates the claws with her hand, “rawr?”
“No.” Not anymore, not after Thornhill’s death. The thought that one of these days he might wake up in someone’s blood terrifies him.
“Oh.”
“What did you- How did you make me shift back?” Dr. Shin says he needs a point of contact with his human side that he can rely on to pull him out from the shift, but where the fuck is he supposed to find it if everyone he knows looks at him like he’s a ticking time bomb even when he’s perfectly human-looking.
“Ummm, I sang you Rufus Wainwright’s rendition of Hallelujah?” She says like she almost can’t believe it herself.
Tyler certainly can’t.
“You…sang to me?”
“Yeah, Rufus Wright’s rendition of Hallelujah, the one from Shrek, keep up, dude.”
He takes a breath to say something but the words do not come. He has no idea what to even say to that.
“Do you know how to get out of here?” She asks. “Cuz I kinda followed a cat here, so I don’t really know which way I came from.”
“Uhhh yeah, we need to keep to the northwest,” Tyler replies dumbly.
She looks at him unimpressed, “Babe, do I like a fucking girl scout to you? I don’t know what that means.”
And maybe it’s such a brazen use of that word that does it, or it’s that he’s only about 50% sure this is not some weird dream he’s having after eating too much sugar before bed, but he just grabs her hand and silently starts walking towards the dorms.
If she’s surprised by this turn of events, she doesn't show it, just goes with it like it’s the most normal thing on earth.
After a few minutes, she wrangles her hand so that their fingers intertwine and they’re like actually holding hands. Tyler feels his face heat up and hopes desperately that it won’t be visible in this cold.
“Could you slow down a bit please,” she asks, slightly out of breath. “I can’t keep up with you and if I keep breathing in cold air like an old asthmatic dog, I’ll get pneumonia.”
“I’m sorry,” Tyler says, slowing down a little.
They walk in silence for a while and Tyler expects her to start firing questions any second now but they can already see the outline of the main building in the distance and she still hasn’t asked.
“It’s called a Hyde. That thing you saw. No one knows for sure if I will ever be able to control it.”
“Hm,” she says thoughtfully, “You seemed pretty in control to me.”
He freezes. “What?”
“Like, when you were listening to me. It seemed like you didn’t want to scare me and one time you did, you backed off immediately.”
They keep walking, silent again.
When they reach the side of the main building, Tyler stops, letting go of her hand. “We’re here.”
“Cool, thanks for walking me back,” she says, smiling at him like it was just a cute little walk in the park.
He can’t take not understanding it.
“Why aren’t you freaked out?” He asks desperately. Something in him twists painfully like she just doesn’t understand. Like he’s deceiving her somehow, and he just needs to explain that he is a monster, he is dangerous, and then she’ll run from him like she’s supposed to. Like everyone else does.
But she doesn’t. She looks up at him curiously, and in the moonlight, her eyes seem so dark, so captivating, that he kind of forgets what was it he was asking her.
“You didn’t hurt me, didn’t even try to. That’s all I really need to know, Tyler.” She says calmly.
He just looks at her, not able to tear his eyes—or form a cohesive thought.
“I’ll see you tomorrow at breakfast. Save me a sit?” she asks softly like there’s some real possibility someone except her will want to sit with the local machiavellian monster.
“Sure,” is all he can really manage.
“Cool.” She says, then gets on her tiptoes and kisses his cheek. “Goodnight, Tyler.”
His cognitive functions decide to leave him at that moment so he doesn’t say anything, just stands there like one of the statues from Easter Island and watches her sneak into the dorm’s building.
***
Author’s note:  I hope characterization doesn't seem inconsistent, I'm just trying to highlight that how other characters see MC is not exactly how she really is. She presents a more collected picture that what's actually going on in her brain. I was a bit worried I overdid it in the forest scene, but in the end I decided that Tyler is too flustered himself to pick up on her little tells that she's freaking out, and after seeing him naked she's totally freaking out lol

Would you consider doing HCs for how VAT7K interacts with the Tangled crew?
(Absolutely love your hcs btw)
Oh boy, do I.
Tangled Crew loves their collective baby bro, and would die for him, but when he went off on a 2-3 year journey with almost NO COMMUNICATION back home. They are needless to say, very shocked when he, out of the blue, walks into the castle. And oh boy, he went through a life changing experience.
His hair is slightly singed, wearing clothing that he definitely didn’t own before (they were gone for 2-3 years, at some point team radical changed their clothing styles and now have similar looking clothes, still unique to them but similar), about 6 inches taller, with more friends (and a bf, but they don’t know that yet), no adult supervision, and without the very woman he went to go find . “Varian if you went on this journey to find, and if need to rescue, your mom, and bring her back. Where is she?” “Oh yeah, she turned into a demon and tried to kill us all. Don’t worry she’s gone now.” “She did what now?”
Varian did actually send letters, mainly to his dad, but most of them were intercepted by enemies or Don.
Rapunzel gets along well with Nuru, and before the younger girl has to go back to her kingdom they paint stars together and talk royal business.
Anytime Hugo and Eugene see each other, it is 👏 on 👏 sight. At least for the first week, after that Hugo keeps making piano jokes (that varian is giving him) and Eugene is tired.
Varian and Hugo both work as Royal Engineers and Librarians, with rotating days of who works where and what place is open for business.
Cass doesn’t trust any of Varian’s friends for the first 40 minutes she meets them, then Yong says hi to her and she’s like: Oh my god a child, must be protected at all costs.
Eugene is tired with a Hugo’s bs, but he makes a varian happy so it’s fine.
Rapunzel doesn’t understand any of the inside jokes any of them have. What’s this about Hugo’s mom once being apart of a gang?
Hugo and Varian REFUSE to tell them what actually happened in the library. The place is very important, useful, and they like their jobs there, but if Raps, Eugene, Cass, Quirin, Lance, or anyone else found out? Oh no, that place would be closed for good.
Raps likes Hugo, thinks he’s a good match for Varian. Unfortunately for her, and everyone else, she doesn’t know much about what happened in vat7k.
Since Varian’s letters never came, no one really knows what all happened during vat7k outside of team radical and few others.
Yong and Cass get along very well! Big sister and little brother vibes. They like to prank Varian, Eugene, and Hugo together.
Lance loves all of them equally <3 and will make favorite foods.
Hugo helps Eugene with teaching guards on how to catch thieves, since Eugene has been out of the game for a few years and it’s good to know what tricks are new and not.
When Varian comes back, Quirin absolutely starts telling his son more about his life. (I saw someone else have a hc like this but can’t find it, whoever came up with that is a genius)
Yong visits every month or two, and then proceeds to cause chaos with Varian and Hugo. After that, he knocks them both out so they can get some god forsaken sleep. The tangled crew have never been more grateful.
Nuru will also visit a lot (like Yong) and cause chaos with varigo.
If Nuru and Yong ever move into the castle, team radical would be thrilled. The tangled crew would only ever dread game night.
I have more headcannons, but their mainly varigo based. Otherwise this is all I can remember right now.

A Broke Soul - Chapter 2 // Wenclair Fic
Wednesday stretched, her tense muscles relaxing after so long in the same position, the sudden movement catching the attention of Morticia who was reading along with Gomez on the couch.
"Everything okay, dear?" The matriarch asked, analyzing her daughter sitting in front of the piano with her shoulders slumped and eyes closed. Wednesday grunted in agreement, turning her attention back to the piano, it had been two months since her hands began to be affected and now the black veins extended missing a finger to her elbows. She started playing the piano frequently before she lost her nerves, using muscle memory as a physical therapy now that her hands were stiff and tingling, it was an immense effort to get her fingers to move, almost an afternoon to play a sequence of notes in a slow rhythm.
"I thought being deprived of writing would affect you more, child" Fester's voice sounded cheerful, Morticia stood up to greet him along with Gomez while Wednesday didn't even turn around, sticking to the painful mission of completing note sequence.
"Hi uncle, what are you doing here?" The brunette asked, feeling her head throbbing with the effort to move her disabled fingers.
"Oh, I came to watch my favorite niece slowly perish." The answer came acidly, making Wednesday sigh, squeezing her eyes shut and releasing her inert hands on the piano making a group of notes scratch her eardrums.
"How kind." She replied in the same ironic tone, trying to relax her mind to lessen the headache.
"So, tell me, how was your last full moon?" The curiosity and sarcasm dripping from his voice made the brunette even more irritated, she turned in a jolt to her uncle.
"It was desperate, I felt like I was suffocating all night and wished I was dead so it would stop hurting."
"That's nice." A maniacal grin grew on Fester's face as his niece stared at him with an arched eyebrow. He was cut off before he could begin to speak.
"No, I don't think I'm made for love. And yes, if I knew I could reach her, I would go." She grumbled, looking at her uncle with a tired look.
"In that diamond-hard head of yours, has it ever occurred to you that if you're her mate and you're far away, you will kill her?" He asked, crossing his arms across his chest as Morticia had a questioning look on her face.
"Mate? Wednesday, who is she?" The older woman asked, moving closer.
"Enid. Enid Sinclair is the woman sentenced to die because of my curse." She sighed defeated, she had no point in fighting their knowledge of this, although Fester probably already knew because of Pugsley, gossip boy. Her parents had a surprised look on their faces as Fester continued to smile with teeth showing, making Wednesday uneasy.
"And what exactly do you mean by 'sentenced', my little crow?" Gomez asked. The smaller brunette shook her head, letting go of the painful throbbing in her brain and ignoring the question, flashes of that night coming back to her in a blur.
"Can we talk now, Willa?" The melodious voice sounded in her back, drawing attention from the table.
"Howdy Nid" Pugs and Eugene greeted together, receiving a smile from the blonde, who also nodded to Wednesday's parents.
"What are you guys doing?" The blonde asked the boys, who had what looked like the beginnings of a homemade bomb in their laps.
"That's pretty cool! It's a bom-" Pugsley began, being rudely cut off.
"Come on," Wednesday interrupted, getting up and pulling the blonde by the collar of her dress to the school exit. They walked together to the side outside, where it was empty, so they could have privacy.
"So?" Wednesday asked as soon as they stopped, watching the blonde clench her hands and bite her lower lip in a clear sign of nervousness.
"Yeah, well...I-I wanted to talk to you about, um...about," Enid stammered heavily, shuffling through her thoughts and unable to muster up absolutely no coherent speech.
"Why are you so nervous? Did you kill someone?"
"WHAT? no, my god Willa"
"Yeah, it's not really like you," Wednesday spoke up, bracing herself against the wall as the blonde rubbed her face, trying to calm her breathing that was ragged from the heavy heartbeats. It was now or never.
"I called you here because I need to tell you something, actually I think I should have told you already but I didn't want to put any kind of werewolf pressure on you, not that you would feel pressured. I mean, you're Wednesday Addams, the woman who doesn't give a damn what anyone else thinks, who is smart and completely capable on her own." Enid started blabbering, getting away from the focus of the conversation and making Wednesday tired.
"Enid, as much as I don't mind compliments, I would appreciate it if you would get to the point." She spoke in a sigh. The blonde agreed, took a deep breath, and spoke again, this time in a low, firm tone.
"I kind of understood that in the first year, with everything that happened and my first wolf out. But I knew it wouldn't work out, I mean, I knew you wouldn't want it and that's okay, my mother always made it clear that I would never be enough for a mate..." Enid paused for breath, rearranging her thoughts, meanwhile Wednesday's gears began to turn with the word. "Mate" to the werewolves was the one chosen by the moon, the one destined to be theirs, they had a mate for life, just like the Addams and their curse. Was it possible that she was Enid's mate? Was the girl right about that?
She knew she was in love with Enid, she knew this in the several exceptions the blonde had with her over the past few years. In the touching, in the worry, in the moments alone when the comfortable silence in the room was enough, in the lack that the ball of chaotic energy that was Enid in the morning made when she went to sleep with Yoko, in the fear of Enid wanting to move into Yoko's room again, in the relief when the blonde decided that the boy gorgon was better as a friend, in the longing to have the bright blue eyes focused on you, to get lost in them like drowning in Enid's sea. She fell in love with the blonde so gradually that she couldn't tell when it started, a love so genuine that it made Wednesday doubt herself, how was it possible for a being of darkness, a small demon bearing bad omens to develop such a pure and gentle feeling for a blonde and immaculate angel like Enid, it was almost blasphemous. A sick joke.
"But these past few years you've been so different with me, so good. And I know it may have been at my pushback, and I'm sorry if I crossed your line ever but-"
"'You have not,'" Wednesday interrupted, assuring the blonde. "You never crossed any of my boundaries, Enid."
"That's a relief, thank you. Anyway, you've shown me that I matter, that I can make things right for someone, and you've shown me a side of you that I don't think anyone else has seen. And I wish I wasn't emotional, but it seems to mean something, our friendship today is completely different from any you've ever had, any I've ever had , so please don't tell me it doesn't mean anything," Enid sighed, stepping forward toward the brunette, entwining her icy hands in hers, leaving little space between their bodies.
Wednesday didn't have much time to react before she lost herself in the ocean blue that stared at her adoringly.
"That. It's something I've never seen you allow with any other person. Sleeping together cuddling or allowing kisses on the cheek, that's something I've never seen you allow with anyone else. So please, Wednesday, don't tell me that doesn't mean anything. Don't tell me I'm the only one here in love with my roommate." Wednesday held her breath, was Enid in love with her? How could she? What did Wednesday have that could attract the woman with the warm and bright personality to the point of falling in love?
"Uh but, what about your mate? You might be in love with me but only because you haven't met it yet." Wednesday questioned, trying to register the new information in her brain. Enid laughed, squeezing the brunette's fingers that were entwined in hers as she admired the brown eyes she loved.
"I am a blood moon wolf, Wednesday. My lupine cycle is ruled by love, by my mate." Enid explained, watching the brunette draw her eyebrows together as she put the pieces of the puzzle together.
"What exactly is that supposed to mean?"
"Bloodmoon werewolves live for their mates, we live to love and protect them. But, we must live with them, otherwise I would go mad to the point of living as a lost wolf, destined to wander aimlessly until the end of my days. No pack, no conscience and no love, longing for the day when it would all end."
"And you're sure you're fated to that?" Wednesday asked fearfully.
"Well, I turned into a blood moon, the chance of that being a coincidence is, I don't know, 2%."
"That's a good percentage. Besides, you turned to save me, what would that have to do with it?" Enid remained silent, a sad smile dancing on the blonde's face as she waited for Wednesday to come to the conclusion on her own. Wednesday held her breath feeling her lungs burning, rolling her eyes at Enid and taking a step back, it couldn't be true.
"You're not 100% sure about that." Wednesday stated, staring at the blonde who stepped closer again.
"No, but I'm in love with you anyway, mate or not." Enid whispered, face slowly drawing closer as their gazes remained locked on each other.
"Enid..." Wednesday whispered, feeling her sanity fade as the pink lips drew closer. As strange as it seemed, she knew what was about to happen, and she felt at peace, she felt like she was doing the right thing, not thoughtless and nervous like she was with Tyler. The feeling of belonging entered her body as she closed her eyes. Enid smiled, faces millimeters apart, giving her time in case Wednesday decided to pull away, but no movement was made; the blonde rubbed her nose against the brunette's in a simple caress, and Wednesday's world fell into darkness.
-///-
Really, she was having a vision now? A clearing in the middle of a dense forest, a wheel of frightened people in plain clothes and mouths moving without any sound, had three extremely bruised but standing boys and a body in the middle of the wheel.
"Is she breathing?" A thick, desperate voice sounded as one of the men approached the center of the circle.
"Doesn't look like it." Wednesday knew that voice, it was one of Enid's brothers in the middle, no idea what his name was.
"She snapped, fought the three of us and the bear like we were all enemies." The same boy continued, holding his arm that looked broken against his chest.
"We know whose fault this all is, what the hell!" Esther came up, growling among the people until she reached the middle, Wednesday watched with difficulty as the woman sobbed loudly and threw herself on the ground. The action caused Wednesday to wake up, moving forward to where the older woman knelt; she passed like a ghost through the people, not physically being there.
"SHE'S NOT BREATHING, SHE'S NOT STOPPING BLEEDING" The woman screamed, sobbing loudly as she was pulled along by two men Addams didn't know, but understood to be from the Sinclair pack.
Wednesday reached the center, and wished she hadn't.
Enid, the woman looked a little older and was lying motionless on the floor, torso open in deep claw cuts that lacerated the flesh, blood dripped in rivers from her pale body, her eyes closed and her lips purple, legs stretched out and full of bruises and feet raw. Wednesday was used to this kind of sight, even an appreciative one. But this one made her want to throw up.
"I don't want to lose Nid, Daddy" The boy whined, broken voice making Wednesday's head spin.
"We lost Enid years ago son, what we had now was an empty shell of what she once was." The man replied, pulling his son into a hug as tears rolled down the boy's face.
"We lost her because of that Addams girl, that damned girl who destroyed Enid, drove her crazy." Esther sobbed loudly, collapsing to her knees and being joined by the rest of the pack.
Wednesday was unable to look away from the woman she loved, was it her fault? Would that be Enid's fate if they stayed together? Were her visions giving her a chance to do the right thing, and not sentence the girl to this future? Would it destroy Enid if she kissed her now?
"I never thought Wednesday would actually keep it up, I never thought she would let it get to that point." Another of Enid's brothers commented tearfully, hugging his mother who was shaking heavily with each sob.
Wednesday moved closer to the body, kneeling at the height of the blonde's chest and reaching for the cold hand with her own. She didn't know when she had started to cry, didn't feel when her body began to tremble heavily, resting her forehead on Enid's, wetting the unmoving face beneath her own. Had she killed the woman she loved? Apparently everyone agreed on that, but how could she? How had she had the strength to sentence the woman to this? Had she driven her mad? Turned her against the pack?
Her thoughts were shuffling with the stabbing pain in her chest as the realization seeped into her bones. Enid was dead, in a future not too far away since her brothers didn't look that much older. She was dead because of her. Enid was dead, and the sensation of her heart beating painfully against her chest had never been so suffocating, to feel her lungs burning as she drew in air, the blood roaring through her veins with desperation and her brain throbbing against her skull, Enid felt none of it anymore. Wednesday felt shattered, broken inside into a thousand pieces, the air couldn't seem to get into her body anymore, composed now of agony and despair, completely aching and consumed by pain, she lay down beside Enid. She ran an arm across her shattered collarbone, feeling her chest wet with the blood on the ground, rested her face on her stiff shoulder, trying to find the blonde's vanilla scent amidst the suffocating rust scent that permeated the entire clearing, and allowed herself to close her eyes, knowing she couldn't let that vision happen.
-///-
She returned to consciousness gasping for breath, and was on the floor, arms around her shoulders and waist. She slowly opened her eyes, finding the bright blue ones staring at her with apprehension, Enid was alive. She stood up slowly, rubbing her forehead in an attempt to erase that vision, Enid immobile and torn apart.
"Are you okay? Was it a vision?" The blonde's worried voice bringing Wednesday back to the present, she pulled away in a leap, looking startled at the woman who stared at her in confusion. Enid stepped forward with arms outstretched to check that everything was okay.
"Don't touch me" Wednesday growled, she couldn't let that happen, she couldn't let her vision come true. It would break its own heart and disown its curse if it had to.
"Willa, what happens-"
"Don't call me that, my name is Wednesday" Enid's confused look hurt, but Wednesday was focused.
"I'm sorry you had the wrong idea about this whole situation. Yes, I've never had the friendships to know what the boundary is, but our relationship has never gone beyond that." The lie burned through her throat, spitting like poison. Enid was shocked, eyes glistening in tears as she absorbed the words.
"What? No, of course not Wednesday. We almost kissed, how can you say that?" Enid accused, trying to approach again the brunette who kept an impassive face and inexpressive eyes. Enid hated it when she did that.
"I am telling you the truth, there is nothing more than friendship. I thought I might have a sincere one after Tyler, but it seems you also decided to see 'signs' I gave you about a romantic interest" It was low blow, Wednesday knew that, but she also knew Enid wouldn't let go so easily, she would have to make the blonde despise her.
"Are you really comparing me to him? I spent years with you, Wednesday. I don't have to imagine anything when you actually did those things, you know that." Enid was discredited, being rejected was fine, but being compared to him was too much.
"Stop being unseemly, what do you want me to say? You've got things wrong, Enid. But I hope you find your mate." No, she did not hope, she felt nauseous imagining Enid with someone else, but she felt much more so imagining her dead. She turned to leave, she couldn't look at Enid and not feel the urge to cry, her aching heart beating against her chest choking her.
"Wednesday" Enid called out, holding her by the arm. Wednesday sighed, Enid's warm touch clouding her pain. She felt disgusted with herself for breaking the blonde.
"Look at me, Wednesday." Ordered, it took a few seconds for the brunette to turn around, staring into the trusting blue eyes. Enid pulled the brunette to herself, holding the pale face in her hands, bodies mingling temperatures and breaths bumping against each other, Wednesday was unable to offer resistance.
"Willa. My Willa." Enid declaimed, stroking the smaller girl's cheeks with her thumb. "Look at me, look into the eyes that once veiled your sleep, into the eyes that learned all your expressions, into the eyes that adore you, and tell me you don't feel the same way"
"Enid, please..." She begged in a whisper, she couldn't do it, it was becoming too dense, too painful, too suffocating.
"Please, Willa. I need you, tell me you need me too" Her pleading voice ached in Wednesday's bones, locking her throat with bile and forcing her eyes to keep the tears away. She couldn't answer.
"Tell me you want me and I will fight to the end of the world for you, Willa" That woke the brunette. The warm hands on her face, the thumbs caressing her cheeks, the heavy breathing on her face, the warmth mingling with her cold skin, the pulsing passing from the hands to her cheeks, she opened her eyes staring into the blue ones she loved, the flushed face and Enid's small smile, she couldn't leave the world without it. She couldn't sentence her to her vision, she couldn't let her die.
Her body complained, her heart was beating so hard it felt like it would rather explode than let Wednesday do this, she removed the warm hands from her face, tasting Enid's warm body for the last time, and replied, "I told you my name is Wednesday and I have nothing more to say to you, Enid. I feel nothing but friendship for you, but I think that should end here too." Enid's face is something that would haunt Wednesday for the rest of her days, the broken look, the trembling lips, the defeated face and the slumped shoulders, how could she have been such a monster as to leave her love like that?
She quickly left the place, letting the tears wash over her face as she walked to her room, self-hatred dominating and messing up her thoughts; she would leave that night, she couldn't see the blonde again. She tried to convince herself that she had done the right thing, if staying with Wednesday would kill her, now she could live fully, even if Wednesday was destroyed. A broken soul.
The blonde hair was a mess, the blue eyes were cloudy and the body was skeletal, it looked abandoned. Enid had become a shell, harboring a crazed, broken wolf that cried and clawed at the woman's heart and mind every day for the Addams. Murray looked worriedly at his daughter, languishing before his eyes, unable to do anything.
"Wolfie, please. Eat something" He asked, offering the plate with fruit to her. The woman's breakfast consisted of a bite of some fruit and that was it. Enid didn't look away, keeping her gaze fixed on the kitchen window, lost. Murray sighed, he was tired, losing hope of getting his daughter back.
"Please tell me how I can help you? I need you." He pleaded, turning his daughter's face toward him, eyes unfocused in his direction.
"The raven." She replied apathetically.
"Who is the raven?" He asked, tired of the same meaningless conversation.
"το κοράκι" She answered, Murray knew the script, she answered the same thing. He tried another approach.
"Do you miss Wednesday Addams?" The blue eyes focused on her father, broken.
"With all of me."
"Why do you need her?"
"To live" the answer came in a whisper, Enid clutched her shirt above her heart.
"Then why don't you go after her?"
"She doesn't need me" The wolf howled, choking the blonde. Today especially her wolf seemed much more restless, it wanted to take over and cross the country in search of its mate, every full moon was an internal battle to keep that from happening. Wednesday didn't want her.
The woman stood up, leaning on the furniture and made her way to the door. She needed to let her wolf out or she would go mad sooner than she had anticipated. She walked precariously into the forest, undressing in the clearing without really caring if anyone was around. Her body now marked every bone, the product of days without hunger, not even the wolf hunts were for food anymore, it hunted for rage, to distract the mind from the throbbing pain in the pieces of her heart.
Enid took a deep breath, feeling the beast stirring inside her, begging to get out. She bent down, feeling the bones break and readjust, the hair growing as well as her height, and consciousness fading away, giving way to primitive lupine thinking, let it take over completely. She was tired of fighting.
Cold was the first thing she felt penetrating her bones, she opened her eyes slowly finding a dense fog that wouldn't let her see an inch in front of her, her naked and weak body succumbing to the cold making her shiver and hug herself for warmth, but she no longer had a healthy body to lean on. She stood up, sitting with difficulty on the grass, she couldn't recognize the place but it smelled of death, had her time finally come? Had her lonely, maddening torment finally come to an end?
She tried to stand up, but her arms couldn't take the weight to support herself, she was exhausted from the untimely transformation and the hunt the wolf practiced. She didn't know how long it ran or what it did, but it had left all her muscles exhausted, failing with any effort. She felt the wolf euphoric in her chest, howling and running like a hyperactive puppy making her dizzy; she took a deep breath, feeling light headed, she was about to pass out from exhaustion in that place of terrible odor and thick fog. She lay down again, her eyes heavy when footsteps were heard sounding far away, coffee and books was the new aroma amidst the stench of death and a black cane with a wolf on the end was the last thing to appear in the mist before the deafening and emotional howl of the wolf carried her to unconsciousness.

Tumblr media
DOCTOR ZHIVAGO : a strange feeling of loss, writing poems in a diary, traveling by train, the hesitation before touching someone’s hand, the gaze of one lost in thought, the warmth of cinnamon, a scarf brightly embellished with flowers, a glass of water, a threadbare jacket, the tempting void, the evanescent serenity of yesterday.

Alright this is the last one I promise 😂
For your OC Jessica Campbell could you answer these questions please.
☕️ ❤️ 🐶 📚 💔🎻 💯 🤍 (I’m sorry there are so many 😂)
YES I ABSOLUTELY CAN. LET'S GO JESS CAMPBELL AN ICON FOR THE AGES!!!!!!!
☕️ HOT BEVERAGE — does your oc prefer coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk, water, or some other drink? how do they like to take this drink (ex. coffee with milk, hot chocolate with whipped cream, a specific kind of tea, etc)?
she's definitely a tea drinker!! but she also enjoys a hot chocolate
❤️ RED HEART — what are three of your oc’s positive traits?
she is absolutely the friend you want by yourself when you're going through something. she is steadfast in her support for her friends and family, and not just backing them no matter what, but also calling them out on their actions when needed. she'll 100% be there for you with love and compassion, even when she's kicking you up the arse to do and be better
she has a lot of love to give and doesn't try to hide behind walls or push people away, she wants the people she loves to know and feel her affections toward them
she never judges you. she'll keep your secrets and defend you, even when it's going against societal norms and expectations
🐶 DOG FACE — does your oc have any pets?
yesss! so as you know her family own a vet practice (that's basically attached to her family home due to the nature of the profession at the time being in quite a transformative phase) and so there was always animals in and out of her house, but they also have two family spaniels as well *wink wink nudge nudge*. she doesn't own a horse herself, but she does help out at the local stables, due to her parents work there, and is pretty bonded with one of their horses!
📚 BOOKS — what level of education has your oc most recently completed/is currently in (GED, undergraduate, grad school, phd, etc)?
she originally planned to fully train in animal care under her parents, but then the war broke out and she realised that she wanted to train as a nurse to help with the war effort, so her plans changed
💔 BROKEN HEART — what are three of your oc’s negative traits?
whilst she's very upfront and honest about her opinions with her friends, she can sometimes find it hard to express her feelings to people she's romantically interested in, at first at least. this isn't negative really, not imo, but it's something she views as wanting to be better at doing. especially with eugene heading off to war before she's even finished training as a nurse
sometimes she'll let josie run away with her, often well intentioned, but not so well executed, ideas, even though she knows it's probably gonna cause trouble for them all, rather than trying to stop it happening, because it's sometimes easier to let josie see for herself rather than trying to convince her because she knows josie can be difficult to deal with sometimes
she sometimes struggles when she can't solve something with kindness or help, and doesn't like having to accept that sometimes there's nothing that can be done to prevent something happening or that she just has to be with someone through their struggles, rather than coming up with a solution to help their situation
🎻 VIOLIN — does your oc play any instruments? what is their skill level (beginner/intermediate/advanced/virtuoso/etc)?
she plays a little piano. her and julian had joint lessons when they were kids together, but when julian moved away, she lost interest bc they promised to always learn together. she still plays occasionally though, and deep down, she misses it. julian encourages her to keep playing and maybe one day she'll pick it back up properly again
💯 HUNDRED POINTS SYMBOL — share three random facts about your oc that others may not know.
she has a great sense of humour
doesn't mind getting her hands dirty when it comes to working with animals and at the stables etc
she's very good at playing cards. in fact, the three j's have been known to hustle a few unsuspecting americans out of their cash because they never expect her skills to be as good as they are
🤍 WHITE HEART — what are three of your oc’s neutral/questionable traits?
uncertainty in other's feelings toward her
second-guessing herself even though she believes in her skills and abilities
thinking she's somehow not good enough for eugene (she 100% is!!!!), and thus, hiding her feelings from him
for this oc ask game!

Upon arriving at their daughter's home, Estella was unmistakably pregnant again. Effie was so excited that she forgot to mention Gilbert's episode. Philibert noticed that something was amiss and later that evening as they were enjoying the sunset with some heady port wine, he asked about his health.
"I hate to say it, but it's not doing any better. In fact, I think it's worse. I hope the move to Springhaven helps."
"It may. The sea air is known to do amazing things, but I don't think it's a cure for you. You need decrease the stress in your life and if these bouts of vertigo keep increasing, you may want to think about a wheelchair," seeing the distaste across Gilbert's face, gave Philibert pause but after clearing his throat he continued," I know that this is not what you wanted to hear, but this will shorten your life if you don't take it seriously. You have one grandchild already and another on the way. Eugene and Goldie will likely have one soon enough as well. Do you want to be around for them?"
"I don't much like what I'm hearing, but I do appreciate your candor. I just can't seem to reconcile that my life moving forward includes an aimless future. I need to be doing something. I can't just sit around and grow old while others do things around me."
Philibert chuckled, "I know where Stell gets it from then. She can't just sit either. She fills every waking hour by doing something and if there's nothing that needs to be done then she plays the piano. She's quite like you. Why don't you take up a hobby? I don't recommend the piano, but maybe something more sedate like painting?" Gilbert hadn't thought of acquiring a new skill, but maybe his son-in-law was on to something. Could he learn a new passion for something this late in life?

Leila's Cravings
Korean Dramas
In no particular order, I have chosen all the Korean dramas that I’ve enjoyed, uberly obsessed of, loved and learned a lot from. I’ve been watching Korean dramas since 2004. It all started when Lovers in Paris was shown in our local television. I only relied on what was shown in our country since then. 2009 came and gave Boys Over Flowers that really changed my viewing habits.
2010 was a very special year for me because I became a K-drama addict. I certified myself. LOL. I just took advantage of our 24/7 internet server. I’m even sleep-deprived now since my time in front of my laptop occupies most of my waking moments when I’m at home. Heh.
So let me give a rundown of Korean dramas I’ve enjoyed all through the years starting from 2004,  that I would gladly recommend to anyone.
LOVERS IN PARIS. “I’m not a Cinderella. I’m just a woman in love with a man.” This is a line from Kang Tae-young that’s vivid in my mind up to now. Her character is adorable and the love between her and Ki-joo is simply beautiful. Park Shin Yang’s performance is one of the best I’ve seen from a male actor. I was completely touched during his break up scene and the part where he played the piano is simply captivating. FYI, Lee Dong-geun is the primary reason why I love second lead guys more than the male lead.
SAVE THE LAST DANCE. Eugene and Ji Sung is such a perfect match! The kind you’d root for no matter what. I love it when the story started moving to Seoul. It is where the growth of their characters and love story begun. When Ji Sung started to live his own life again as Hyun Woo, not knowing Eun Soo, they started from scratch again. Since the heart can tell, they still fell for each other. Ji Sung is so adorable! The OST of this series is love!
MY GIRL. The two LEE! Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae is one of the cutest pair the HONG Sister’s created. Lee Da Hae’s portrayal of Yoo Rin is so lovable and Dong Wook was a dashing debonair! The “lie” theme of their pairing was an added charm in their relationship. Just pure cuteness on screen!
GOONG (PRINCESS HOURS). A stellar performance from Yoon Eun Hye as she became a Princess. She successfully made Chae Kyeong come to life. Eun Hye’s chemistry with Joo Ji Hoon is off the charts, IMO. The settings, the overall feel of a modern day Royal set up was beautiful. A must watch series!
COFFEE PRINCE. Another series from Yoon Eun Hye. From a lady in Goong, she transformed herself as a boyish barista. She plays Go Eun Chan, a bread winner who had no choice but to work in a shop where only men are allowed. I enjoyed her with Gong Yoo. Their scenes are just the sweetest. Eun Hye is adorable and passable as a guy! But honestly, it was really Mr. Voice, Lee Seun Kyun who really captured my heart in this series.
BOYS OVER FLOWERS (BOYS BEFORE FLOWERS). The drama that changed my Korean dramaworld and catapulted Lee Min Ho to super stardom!! Not only did this show spread K-drama virus around Asia, it made every cast known worldwide. Who would forget this? Four HOT guys in one screen. Enough said. Lee Min Ho and Goo Hye Sun are enough reason for me to repeat this to the nth time. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this series already. I think there’s no explanation why I loved it, it’s illogical. LOL.
YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL. Jang Geun Suk’s adorable face and wonderful singing voice was shown multiple times. Sold. Geun Suk’s pairing with Park Shin Hye is simply sweet and fluffy! Shin Hye became his twin brother and joined AN.JELL. The story focused on the life of a band in showbusiness and how pig-rabbit melted Tae Kyung’s heart. The love triangle is cute. Shin Woo’s character reminded me so much of Ji Hoo (Boys Over Flowers) since it is obvious that he won’t get the girl. And yet he’s always been there for her. Typical story but fun and with heart.
PASTA. The story is simple and the plot has no-frills at all. But here are the reasons why I still love this:
a. Dearest Chep (Lee Seun Kyun) is endearing.
b. The on screen pairing is cute and charming.
c. Noh Min Woo is delightful.
Enough for me.
PERSONAL TASTE. Lee Min Ho. Need I say more?
Kidding aside, what I really enjoyed about this series is Gae In’s weather forecast that’s like her personal diary. I can always forego flaws especially when dearest Min Ho is concerned. The issue of the Sang Go Jae can happily go down the drain. I enjoyed most parts rather than the whole. Watch it since Lee Min Ho is the hottest architect in the face of K-dramaland. His chemistry with Sohn Ye Jin can make you wish to have a roommate like Jin Ho.
COFFEE HOUSE. Perfect 10! Highly recommended.
It IS Kang Ji Hwan and Park Si Yeon’s sizzling chemistry exploding! They are by far the best couple who had the most passionate kiss I’ve ever seen. The story itself may drive you nuts, or I mean Lee Jin Soo. But at the end of the day, you can really learn something fruitful from this. Great laughs mixed with powerful emotions. Simply a brilliant display of talent and a different level of K-drama experience.
MY GIRLFRIEND IS A GUMIHO. If you want to spend one of the best 16 hours of your life, watch this! Lee Seung Gi is lovable and he’s paired with the gorgeous Shin Mina, no more to ask for. The Gumiho myth is mixed with reality making this series a story with heart. Most people I know loves the Hoi couple to bits. I can’t blame them! Not only did this couple show the cutest and sweetest things ever but they had managed to show that the best kind of love is living with that person and enjoying every given moment to the fullest.
SHINING INHERITANCE (BRILLIANT LEGACY). From the start this captured me since I find it very poignant. I’m very weak when it comes to family stories so when Eun Sung arrived having such love for his father, I’m owned! Han Hyo Joo’s character made me stick to watch this 28 episode K-drama. I love grandma’s story of success that made me hate Hwan for few episodes. Though, I truly enjoyed the spoiled brat that is Lee Seung Gi (Hwan), especially those scene while he was working under Eun Sung. I was completely on a laughing spree though I shouldn’t have felt that way. Bad me. I guess, the premise of the show is to teach Hwan what to VALUE. That money is hard earned even when he has plenty; that life is still better even with less of it; that we can enjoy the simplest things and be truly HAPPY; that we can have true value that even money can’t buy; that a person’s character is more important than anything.
This show made me fall for Lee Seung Gi even more. He’s a genuine actor that can make a simple scene uber sweet with him in it. He has this ability to make audience have this “blind spot” when it comes to him.  That in itself is very unique. He has his own pull that can draw you in.  Or maybe I’m just so easy to get! LOL.
SUNGKYUNKWAN SCANDAL. I am crazy for crazy horse Yoo Ah In, forever. It is a sageuk drama, yes a historical set up. It may appear boring, but it isn’t! Moon Jae Shin is on fire every time he appears! The story has a beautiful premise, with wonderful cinematography to boot. The Jalgeum Quartet is love. And KBS even awarded the best couple in this series. It’s NOT Yoo Chun and Park Min Young.
DREAM HIGH. I love that this drama showed we can stand up each time we fall and that mistakes are made to teach us to become a better person. It’s a recurring theme for everyone in DH not only the students but the Professor’s as well. Everyone made a wrong decision or had said something wrong that influenced others like what happened to Kyung Jin and Baek Hee. I love that everyone learned from their mistakes and stood up. Fallen and bruised as most characters had been but they still managed to reach out for a brighter tomorrow.
Dream High is not just about aspiring to be an artist/singer or about reaching for their dreams. It’s about becoming a better version of one’s SELF. Such a great drama find in 2011! And memorable too since Sam Dong (Kim Soo Hyun) and Hye Mi (Bae Suzy) made it special ♥ SamMi FTW!
49 DAYS. Hands down for actress Lee Yo Won as she portrays two roles brilliantly and had chemistry with two actors as well! I really enjoyed the lessons learned here, not trying to sugar coat this series but it was well written and I’m content with the open ending. It must be because I’m a true blue Ji Kyung and Han Kang shipper! Jo Hyun Jae is back from his military service and it’s good to see him again with such manly aura. And Jung Il Woo is simply extraordinary as he plays the Scheduler. I was  a content camper watching this because Kang-ah is LOVE!
BEST LOVE (GREATEST LOVE). I have a soft spot for Gong Hyo Jin and eversince Pasta I find her adorable. Her simplicity makes her unlike any other actress and uses it to connect herself to her character making it relatable. Her chemistry with Cha Seung Won isn’t to be questioned because they have it. But among all the Hong Sisters drama I’ve watched they managed to make me fall deeply in love with its second lead more than the OTP. I have to blame my undying love for Pil Joo because it’s my main reason for watching this. Yoon Kye Sang is the epitome of a perfect guy. And he’s memorable in my K-drama book.
CITY HUNTER. Another hit drama for Lee Min Ho. He’s now paired with the adorable Park Min Young. It’s an action packed drama with heart. Yes, they were able to combine violence with humane bonds that is present on each relationship and pairing. Father and Son is not just present in genes but more because of love. Yoon Sung and Jin Pyo may live in a cruel world but they had managed to fight for their own beliefs. I shed a tear or two in this series and it managed to capture me during times when the story simply tackles on love, family and friendship. It has subtle moments amid the chaotic theme that truly captured me. Lee Min Ho is brilliant as he has never been before. His Royal Hotness made spoon and bottled water the best weapon. He managed to break my heart and revive it all over again with his action scenes! Lee Min Ho is proving to be the most versatile actor of his generation.
HEARTSTRINGS (YOU’VE FALLEN FOR ME). Silence and music are beautifully woven in scenes that can make you feel nostalgic. Here you can experience how scenes are much better without words. Just a smile, just a stare,  just that sound of raindrops can bring you the feeling of comfort and the magic of love.
If you are into stories of youth, watch this. It is a melodrama but you can still simply sit back, relax and feel the love more than words can say. BTW, Jung Yong Hwa is a sweetheart. He surely made me crazy in love with him. Though Lee Shin can be a pabo (fool) sometime, he really makes up for it since his love for Kyu Won is the sweetest thing to have in K-dramaland. The immense chemistry of the Dooley Couple successfully brought to life how good a feeling is having to love for the first time. Also, the OST is love! The songs are awesome! Even the mix of modern and traditional instrument is pleasant. Hear it for yourself.
FLOWER BOY RAMYUN SHOP. This drama is hotter than the ramyun they’ve cooked and served. And I’m not just talking about Lee Ki Woo here, I love him as Kang Hyuk. To be called wifey by him is such a delight! But that aside, Jung Il Woo is lovable too though he’s eccentric and childlike here, Chi Soo was the one who captured Eun Bi’s (Lee Chung Ah) heart nonetheless. This was really a fun watch! The Ramyun boys are a treat and their bonding made this drama worthwhile to finish. You’ll leave satisfied to your hearts content.
THE MOON THAT EMBRACES THE SUN. I love me some Kim Soo Hyun and he’s back being the King of this epic series. To be honest, I really loved the first part more when Prince Hwon (Yeo Jin Goo) fell in love with Yeon Woo (Kim Yoo Jung). I enjoyed the exchange of wit and letters from both. How I wish that they’d stayed kids forever like that. Then again, we have to see Soo Hyun’s acting prowess and be swept again by his charm. Together with the beautiful Han Ga In, both fought fate and made their love stand against all odds. Jung Il Woo as Prince Yang Myung made his presence felt in this series too, loving Yeon Woo all his life. You’d definitely be mesmerized by the scenery and gorgeous set up from the Joseon Era and cry along with Prince Yang Myung. Watch it, Soo Hyun made it bearable, for me atleast.
THE KING 2 HEARTS. Lee Seung Gi is a grown man here, though not leaving behind his quirky attitude that we all love! I’ve never seen him act the way he did in this series. I’m in awe of him more. Ha Ji won is kick ass and made the North Korean accent so sweet to hear. Together they form one Korea, one heart. It is action packed since Ji Won is here, you would not miss her amazing skills even kicking his Royal Highness to the curb. Interesting plot but I think you’d enjoy Ha Ji Won’s aegyo and dance moves more than anything.
SHUT UP! FLOWER BOY BAND. This is such a warm and very comforting watch. I ended this drama having a huge smile on my face that I think will linger on and on. Sung Joon is phenomenal and he became uber handsome to me. I fell for him along the way. The OTP is just so cute for words and I enjoyed every moment, wishing for more! But those two aside, this drama feels like home. You know, that love, that protection and that security, and comfort we feel when we go to a place we can be ourselves? This drama feels more than just a drama. I truly understand why others fell in love with this. It is worth your time and even your tears! It simply hits the right spot, every-single-time. No matter who the character is, you will be drawn and swept away by the emotion they feel. It was so powerful and so moving.
They say that most lessons are learned the hard way. Shut Up Flower Boy Band emanates that thought. The trials are meant for good at the end of the day. Sometimes the pain can really be piercing, as shown by the characters and yet they all became a better man after. They succeeded alone but having that heart of togetherness still. The bond that the Eye Candy formed is tough and you can feel that resonate in their music and whenever they perform together. It feels so euphoric! I would not mind repeating this to the nth time just to feel them again and again and again.
QUEEN IN HYUN’S MAN. The best fusion sageuk I’ve seen yet (as of 2012) I love that everything blends well with the story and we are not just wishing to be back in the modern world all the time. I enjoy seeing Ji Hyun Woo in the Joseon Era as well. It’s my first time ever watching him and I’m surprised that he’s a good actor. His pairing with Yoo In Na is sizzling. Sparks flew everywhere even if they are just staring at each other and far apart. One of the best chemistry on screen, and felt natural at that. I’m always taken aback with historical set up. But this drama just made me cling to it until the end. The writer is amazing! What a wonderful masterpiece yet again from the writer of Coffee House. Hands down, a drama that makes you believe that love works in mysterious and marvelous ways. Epic and oh so beautiful! Another MUST WATCH!
BIG. Yup another Hong Sister’s drama. If you are a fan of the sisters, try this and you’ll fall in love with Kyung Joon in Yoon Jae’s body. Or to make it simple, you will fall in love with Gong Yoo,100%. Little Kyung Joon is asleep all throughout the series, though I wish he literally woke up in the end and grabbed that umbrella. *sigh* This drama begs us to leave most things to our imagination. So don’t expect much. Gong Yoo’s lovable on screen pairing was made to life by Lee Min Jung. Gil Teacher found her ground and found her true love too. I’m happy she was able to distinguish who her heart truly beats for. This drama is not among my fave from the Hong’s but still enjoyable. Go with what is presented and you’d just be fine.
ARANG AND THE MAGISTRATE. This drama gave me the creeps — both in a good and a bad way. Overall, I still love the feel, the ambiance, the scenery. It brought a different level of experience that I enjoyed. Arang is such a fierce character! She learned how to value her own life and gained the will to take a risk and fight for it. With a hero like the magistrate (Lee Jun Ki), where can this love story go? No limits.
ANSWER ME 1997 (REPLY 1997). Have you ever experienced falling in love with your friend? Are you like Yoon Jae? Or more like Shi Won?
This series directly hits the heart, even in the simplest of ways. Nostalgic, pure, heart wrenching and uber fun. Saying this is an understatement. You will love to reminisce about the life in the 90′s. If you were in Grade School or High School at that time, you’d laugh just like me because I guess it’s one, or if not, the best time in my life. The story was made even more special because of Seo In Guk and Jung Eun Ji. I don’t care if they were KPOP Idols, they rocked this series BIG TIME. They made the friends-in-love theme so enticing. You’d want to grab hold of a Yoon Jae in your life. I suggest you watch this with your friends and your family too! To miss this will be a regret in your K-drama life.
FLOWER BOY NEXT DOOR.Go Dok Mi (Park Shin Hye) isn’t your typical bubbly K-drama heroine. She decided to lock herself in her own apartment, living in her own world. Though comfortable as it may seem to her, the outside world is where she really wants to be. Good thing Enrique Geum (Yoon Shi Yoon) opened the door to help her breathe in life and experience what it truly means to live.
The drama made me love Enrique’s youthful exuberance and his quirky personality. But it was really Jin Rak (Kim Ji Hoon) that I personally fell in love with. Mr Post-it man stole my heart and run away with it. Having said that, this drama has its moments of glory and failed in some. The world of Dok Mi is a familiar ground that this drama illustrated beautifully, just by listening to her inner thoughts added a unique touch making her more relatable. Another winning drama from tVN.
THE MASTER’S SUN. This is another drama that is close to my heart. Its the first I’ve watched So Ji Sub in a full series. He captivated my heart playing Joo Joong Won, the cold-hearted Master that melted under the warmth of a sun, Tae Gong Shil (Gong Hyo Jin).
To find that one person who can take away your fears and who can make you feel alive again is truly special. Joong Won and Gong Shil is like a magnet that automatically joins together. When you force to separate them, the pull they have within is far stronger than any I had felt. Their love story is just like how their first hug scene transpired. It was unexpected. Gong Shil just came in his life, rushing in scared and needed comfort badly. But as it goes along, it turns out that Joong Won is the one needing help after all. His dark world finally found the light its been longing to have.
The immense chemistry off-screen resonated on-screen. It is a delight to see, feel, and hear. Skinship is scattered around, and the OTP’s touch scenes made a different kind of sensation that only the SoGong couple have. This drama will make you realize that waiting for that one special love, is worth it. Falling in love in a series will never be the same again after watching this. To date (2013), the best Hong Sister’s drama for me.
ANSWER ME 1994 (REPLY 1994). This can’t be compared to its predecessor. Though they do have the same feel, nostalgia and amazing attention to detail, this show broke the second season flop big time.
My love for this drama truly owes it to each character who is part of the Sinchon Boarding House. It’s amazing to feel the family bonding and the friendship that was built under one roof. They are blessed to have a home where everyone shared the heartiest meals and have the best support group. The story is more than just the romance that was built within its frame, but moreso it displayed the kind of universal love that truly warms the heart.
It’s my first to watch Jung Woo, the Oppa whose love for Na Jung can’t be quantified, its felt. Though I was captured by his Oppa role at first, it was really Chil Bong (Yoo Yeon Seok) who took my heart and I wasn’t able to have it back. The pendulum swing wasn’t felt by Na Jung (Go Ara) herself but the fan wars surely did. I was literally brokenhearted having to experience the unrequited love the way Chil Bong did. But having to experience his love for Na Jung is worth the tears still.
Watch this with an open heart. Because the love that both Oppa and Chil Bong gave to Na Jung is better seen that way. Highly recommended. If I have to go through Chil Bong’s heartache, I will still repeat this and savor what it means to love with all of you and even learn to let it go.
EMERGENCY COUPLE. Choi Jin Hyuk!! There is nothing more left to say.
I really enjoyed watching this series because of Song Ji Hyo and Choi Jin Hyuk’s awesome chemistry. The teasers were wonderfully made, its enticing enough not to miss the series. It did feel like much could have been done, especially in Jin Hee’s arc. But that aside, I still had an amazing time recapping and watching this series.
Jin Hee grew from a naive character to a woman who can stand on her own. She was so dependent when she married Chang Min that she felt low not having a life of her own. It is a consequence of not being complete first before entering a serious relationship. The separation was pivotal, it made both character realise that love will always be present no matter what. You just have to open yourself even when you know it will hurt. Watch it, and enjoy the antics! You will definitely love Choi Jin Hyuk, even if you already do.
ANGEL EYES. The best drama of Ku Hye Sun to date (2014). Hands down, what an amazing performance that she has Lee Sang Yoon to thank for. It is a first for me to watch Sang Yoon and I fell in love with him! I guess, the chemistry was so palpable and heartfelt, it was easy for me to watch this and not be reminded it is a melodrama. It felt like a cried an ocean but it cleansed my soul. The feeling was that good!
Yoon Soo Wan and Park Dong Joo defined a love that even if its tormenting, they choose each other still. It is a story of finding oneself and loving wholeheartedly no matter how painful it is. This series is among the most precious I have ever watched. It brought an amazing experience that I wouldn’t mind watching again. Every character is loveable and warm.
We don’t like the pace of walking. It seem that the world today is so fast, speed matters. But watching this series I learned the value of taking things slow especially with love. Waiting can be taxing and tedious. Who has the patience to wait? Dong Joo and Soo Wan have and both enjoyed the fruit of waiting for each other. The essence of “togetherness” is really evident seeing how both endured the trials that came their way that when they separated, we all felt their pain. It was so piercing, you want them to be together again.
This is one of the most beautifully written love story. You wouldn’t mind falling in love and experiencing it. Highly recommended.
MARRIAGE NOT DATING. I can’t believe I almost let this drama slip away! I wasn’t reeled in to watch this since I kinda predicted how it’s going to be and the premise wasn’t as enticing. How amazing it is to be proven wrong?!
This drama is feel good and so easy to digest. I really enjoyed how the drama focused on family and relationships. The most important thing why this became a drama craving was the “communication”. We heard it been said a million times over that communication is vital and I love how the drama gave emphasis on that. Jang Mi (Han Groo) and Ki tae (Yeon Woo Jin) are a perfect example to show what great communication can do in a relationship. They were successful in making it feel organic and relatable. Their conversations were meaningful and delightful, even the arguments. They are so adorable! For them there is no eternal love, only a love they both want to last. Awww.
The transition of Jang Mi and Ki Tae’s fake relationship to a real one worked well, turning a bad relationship to the best one could possibly have. Knowing the foibles, worst habits and dark past of the person you are in a relationship with and loving them despite of that is a true testament of what true love is. You can not just have good qualities, nobody is perfect. Accepting the imperfection is an important part of a relationship. I’m happy to have learned it better through this drama.
Watch this and feel the spark of a love with no pretence.
THE TIME WE WERE NOT IN LOVE. How can you notice if someone is looking at you when you are looking somewhere else? One will surely miss a lot. Good thing Choi Won (Lee Jin Wook) didn’t spent his whole life just being the best friend for Oh Ha Na (Ha Ji Won) and stepped up to be more!
Best friends to lovers plot is one of the best storyline but the hardest to execute. This show did just okay, though I hoped for the best. Well, this show didn’t lack fan service, so don’t be dismayed and give this show a try too. The chemistry is exploding on screen. The 1+1 couple brightened each scenario, whether they are bickering or simply sharing aegyo to each other. Nobody can replace the memories they have built in time. Their memory bank is full of great milestone to choose from.
I fell in love with Choi Won. At first I was so frustrated and mad at him. I thought that with his persona, finally a man was strong enough to fight to protect the woman he loves from getting hurt again. Choi Won was the right man to stop Cha Seo Hoo (Yoon Kyung Sang), though the only advantage he has is that of a friend. But then, he took a step back because Choi Won isn’t the kind of man to stop Ha Na’s heart from beating even if it was for somebody else. Choi Won chose to understand and support Ha Na’s decision. This is Choi Won’s love language. Ha Na’s happiness is more important than his own.
Everything ends well in dramaland! Watch this and enjoy the 1+1 couple fight, kiss and make-up endlessly.
OH MY GHOST. Do you want to know what love is? This drama definitely showed it. I highly recommend it to anyone who just loves the feeling of falling in love and staying in love.
Take the journey with Na Bong Sun (Park Bo Young) as she discovers what it is to love and be loved by Chef Kang Sun Woo (Jo Jung Seok). Their chemistry is perfect and electrifyingly good!! You would enjoy every second of them on screen. Whether or not Na Bong Sun is possessed by Shin Soon Ae (Kim Seul Gi), the joint forces of their chemistry is overwhelmingly amazing to experience. This is the kind of drama that can be enjoyed from start to finish. Don’t miss it.
MISAENG / INCOMPLETE LIFE – Work politics can never be portrayed better than what this series presented. I’ve watched Im Si Wan ever since he appeared in The Moon that Embraces the Sun and his cute cameo in Reply 1997. This time, he showed a different side of him more than just his pretty face. Though I was hoping a love line with Kang So Ra, I think they are still enjoyable as officemates with Kang Ha Neul.
The cast is completed with the addition of Lee Sung Min who made me a certified fan through this drama. He simply brought so much heart as a mentor. I believe we need more people like him in this world. Someone whose tenacity and fervent persona drives anyone with him to become better. He is surely stubborn, yet his hard work is incomparable. Watch this and learn why work is work and why passion can drive you towards a better destination.
HEALER – Just three words. Ji Chang Wook.
Some of you may have more adjectives to describe how awesome this is. But for me, it was really discovering an amazing talent in Ji Chang Wook, I’m swept away by his character. He’s a chameleon who can switch from dorky, to manly to clumsy to stubborn to the sweetest thing a K-drama hero could ever be. His chemistry with Park Min Young captured my heart. It was a treat seeing them fall in love. This is a highly recommended drama to watch. If you like action, suspense and romance, this is a treat you don’t want to miss.
TWENTY AGAIN – Lee Sang Yoon is back as Professor Cha Hyun Seok. You will definitely fall more in love with him, there is no escaping his charms! He teams up with Choi Ji Woo again, truly it is better the second time around. This series is a timeless piece that can be enjoyed no matter what age you are! There is always a special spot in my heart when the past era is smoothly blended in the present.
Add to that, Sang Yoon is swoon worthy! Even if Hyun Seok is grumpy most of the time, his love for No Ra is timeless. This is worth watching anytime.
ANSWER ME (REPLY) 1988 – I will shamelessly admit, this is my favourite Reply series to date (2016). Even if this is already the third, PD Shin Won Ho did not fail to surprise me. Despite of the heartache, this series is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Every detail, every character, every possibility is once again explored. The trademark of the Reply franchise is unparalleled, every series is uniquely made. All thanks to Ryu Joon Yeol coz he made this series beyond special for me. He successfully brought to life an unforgettable character – Kim Jung Hwan. This is not to say that Taek (Park Bo Gum) did anything less to love Sung Deok Sun (Hye Ri). However, I was hopelessly devoted to Jung Hwan. He was the only one in my heart.
Though this series was never about the husband hunt for me, the heartache I’ve felt wasn’t anything less than what I expected. Prepare your heart once you decide to watch this. You have been warned.
CHEESE IN THE TRAP – Discovering new actors who are not afraid to do something different made this series endearing. The premise brought from the webtoon, added interesting character that has depth I was interested to explore.
Park Hae Jin did a tremendous job as Yoo Jung. There are only few actors who can be both lovable and despicable all at the same time, Hae Jin is one of them. He had an amazing chemistry with Kim Go Eun. Seol and Yoo Jung were tailored to fit. Despite of the drama frenzy off-screen, Seo Kang Joon did a great job as Baek In Ho! SLS is evident, but this time I realised that this syndrome can be less painful too especially when done right.
Keep an open heart and watch something different. Judge it for yourself.
OH HAE YOUNG AGAIN (ANOTHER MISS OH) – As of 2016, this deserves the TOP ONE in my K-drama list of all time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
As they say, you have to be complete before you love someone. That said, I never thought that love can be found when the heart is completely shattered into pieces. How can the heart mend and be whole again? Park Do Kyung (Eric Mun) and Oh Hae Young (Seo Hyun Jin) proved that real love can exist even in the worse possible state. It all begun with a leap of faith! All it took was for Do Kyung to open his arms and catch Hae Young. From then, he struggled hard not to let her go ever again.
It is the first time that I have watched Eric of Shinhwa and Seo Hyun Jin in a drama series. It was such a delight to experience how amazing love is seeing both of them performing at their best. The chemistry is so intense, I believe it is REAL. Shipper heart aside, to date RicHyun is definitely a K-drama couple to beat! From every touch, every kiss, and every hug they shared, there is an incredibly sweet intimacy no other OTP can possibly have! They are beyond astonishing together! I can only think of happy thoughts whenever I see them both.
Love is defined with no specificity. Each character here has shown love in various of ways. You will discover the amazing talents from the veteran actors, Ye Ji Won in particular. You would want to party all night with her.
Be ready to be mesmerised! Once you watch this, it will be hard to resist repeating it all over again.
LET’S EAT SEASON 2 – Nothing can beat the yearning of delicious food — make that KOREAN FOOD!
This K-drama is plot-free and just entices you with what matters most in life, food. I watched this for the love of Seo Hyun Jin and I happily sat and observed her in awe. She can do ANYTHING! Plus, her chemistry with Yoon Doo Joon made watching the sweetest thing to do. I truly enjoyed their banters. No  matter how opposite their views are, they can sit down and enjoy each others company. They made eating alone a sin, because a meal is better enjoyed with others.
Watch this! Word of warning: Eat first before you watch. Or else, you’ll crave badly and say “goodbye diet.”

I had to share my impressions of the New York Philharmonic in the newly renovated David Geffen Hall. For reference: our seats were on the orchestra level, row EE, in the center rear of the hall just under the first tier. For further reference: I’ve been a season-ticket subscriber to the NY Philharmonic since 2007. They have performed in the same hall since 1964 but it just underwent a renovation that fixed its notoriously bad acoustics, moved the stage forward by 30 feet so the audience is closer, and updated all the facilities. Tonight’s concert was Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22 and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7, two of my favorite pieces by two of my favorite composers.
I love the sound of the renovated hall. I’ve never FELT the Philharmonic’s sound like I did tonight. The basses and cellos, and all the strings, had a depth to their sound. I could hear the articulations more than ever. All of the instruments could be heard more clearly than before. I thought the delicacy of the Mozart piano concerto came out and that the piano was almost too soft compared to the orchestra. Maybe the piano was too loud before? Or the orchestra was straining to be heard over the piano? I thought the concerto was lovely nevertheless.
Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 was incredible. I was hanging on every note. The brass sounded clear as bells. It helped that all of the brass were in the center of the stage, behind the winds, (and directly in front of where we were sitting in the center rear of the hall) instead of off to the side and way in the back like they used to be. I could feel those gorgeous brass chorales in the second movement. And the cymbal crash and timpani roll at the climax of the second movement was like an explosion of sound! There were other little things that I hadn’t noticed all the times I’d heard the piece before, like harmonies in the winds, or the first horn doubling the cellos in the opening, or some sharp menacing notes from the basses in the finale.
I almost feel cheated for all the years that I heard this orchestra in the old hall. I didn’t know what I was missing! I can’t wait to go back and hear them play there again. We have tickets to 3 more concerts this season and I might have to go by myself once or twice.

FreshDirect misdelivered someone else’s order to our building and now there’s fresh produce and two cases of Lacroix sitting in the hallway. I feel bad about food waste but we don’t have that much room in our refrigerator for more produce. And would taking the food be stealing, like taking someone’s package?
On the other hand FreshDirect is not going to come back and pick up this order and redeliver it. So it’s going to sit in the hallway for a couple of days and then one of us will put it in the trash.

How to play like Dave Brubeck (Take 5 "steps") - Brubeck's sheet music available from our Library
Dave Brubeck, who passed away on December 5, 2012, just a day shy of his 92nd birthday, was one of the most influential jazz musicians of all time. Rhythms of horses’ hooves on the California cattle ranch he grew up on, along with those from water pumps, motors, and various other sources prompted his lifelong fascination with odd time signatures. Brubeck was also exposed to Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Debussy, and Ravel, as his mother gave classical piano lessons. Stride, blues, swing, bebop, classical, big block chords, and delicate counterpoint are just some of Brubeck’s signature devices. Let’s “take five” of them for a closer look. . . .
Tumblr media
1. Blues
Many of Brubeck’s classic compositions were based on blues progressions, like “Sweet Cleo Brown,” a tribute to one of his great inspirations, blues singer Cleo Brown. Similarly, his solos were often infused with riffs drawn from the blues scale. Ex. 1 is a progression Brubeck typically used to end a blues.
Tumblr media
2. Stride
Some of Brubeck’s heroes were renowned for stride piano, like Duke Ellington, Earl “Fatha” Hines, Fats Waller, and Art Tatum. Brubeck’s large hands let him span big block chords with his right hand while playing wide walking tenthswith his left. “It’s a Raggy Waltz” combines elements of stride and ragtime in 3/4 time— one of his first forays into non-4/4 time signatures. Playing in 3/4 also let him superimpose another pulse over the beat—a polyrhythm—as in Ex. 2.
Tumblr media
3. Odd time signatures
Brubeck once famously stated, “I don’t think jazz should be in 4/4 time.” His use of metric subdivisions—seen here marked in groups—was the secret ingredient that made odd time signatures sound natural and swinging to the causal listener. These broke up the measure into more digestible rhythmic phrases of (usually) two or three notes. For example, “Take Five” is more accessible when you count its 5/4 time as “one two three, one two.” Exs. 3athrough 3e (left to right) illustrate this approach in various time signatures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Polyrhythms
Ex. 4 demonstrates Brubeck’s renowned use of polyrhythms, or playing in more than one rhythm at a time. The rhythmic grouping of five notes in the place of four is distributed between two hands, a technique that’s been picked up by such pianists as Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea.
Tumblr media
5. Polytonality
It was Brubeck’s older brother Howard, chairman of the music department at Palomar Junior College, who first suggested he study with French composer Darius Milhaud. During those studies, Brubeck began experimenting with polytonality—playing in more than one tonality at a time. While Brubeck is well known for his frequent display of fast pyrotechnics and dense textures, Ex. 5 exemplifies his use of space and openness.

Signature Tunes
New to Brubeck? Here’s some required listening for getting to know his use of odd time signatures.

New Dave Brubeck Biography, A Timely Reminder Of Jazz Piano Royalty
‘Dave Brubeck: A Life In Time’ looks at how the pianist’s life criss-crossed with countless jazz greats, and dives into some lesser-known areas of his life. Pianist David Warren Brubeck was born on 6 December 1920, in Concord, northeast of Oakland, and his centenary year is being recognised with an excellent, impressively detailed biography by Philip Clark (Dave Brubeck: A Life In Time, Da Capo Press), which explores the life and work of the musician, who died in 2012. Clark spent time on the road with Brubeck and his wife, Iola, in 2003 and the biography contains fascinating new material about a man who pushed the boundaries of jazz for six decades, influencing scores of popular music stars, including Ray Davies of The Kinks, Ray Manzarak of The Doors and Deep Purple’s Jon Lord. Sharp as a tack Brubeck’s life criss-crossed with countless talented contemporaries and A Life In Time contains a wealth of information about his touring partner Miles Davis (who recorded Brubeck’s song ‘In Your Own Sweet Way’ back in 1957), along with Cecil Taylor, Chet Baker, Shelly Manne, Art Blakey, Lee Konitz, Charlie Parker, Cal Tjader, Lennie Tristano, Jimmy Giuffre, Max Roach and Gerry Mulligan, with whom Brubeck recorded an entire album. The magnificent ‘Time Out’ and ‘Blue Rondo À La Turk’, both recorded in 1959, brought the Dave Brubeck Quartet international stardom – and they remain two jazz tunes that can be instantly recognised by members of the general public rather than diehard fans. There are interesting offbeat reminiscences in the biography. Brubeck tells the author that the controversial comedian Lenny Bruce used to babysit his son Darius (who also became a jazz musician) after the musician and comic appeared on the same bill at the Crescendo club in Hollywood. “Lenny and I became good friends,” said Brubeck. “I didn’t expect Lenny and Darius to get close, but they kind of gravitated toward each other and we thought, Well, OK, it’s fine with us if someone wants to take the kids off our hands for the afternoon. And Lenny took it very seriously and was completely responsible, I have to say.” Compared to the drug-taking excesses of some of his fellow jazz men, Brubeck seemed deeply conventional, but he was as sharp as a tack. He is quoted warning about gangsters who “worm their way past your defences”, adding that “Charlie Parker’s a sad example of what could happen” when people exploit the addictions of musicians. Defiant in the face of racism There are tales of Brubeck’s groundbreaking tours in the late 50s – he went to Poland and caught dysentery in Baghdad – and a moving account of his defiant attitude towards racism during an era of segregation. In 1960 he cancelled a promotional appearance on NBC’s hugely popular Bell Telephone Hour Show because the producers insisted that black bass player Eugene Wright would have to be out of shot. In 1964, Brubeck also openly defied the Ku Klux Klan at a gig held at the systematically racist University Of Alabama. Brubeck insisted that the band and audience be integrated – and he defied threats of violence and disruption from the KKK to play the concert to a mixed audience. The stand forced the university to allow integrated concerts from then on. Two giants of jazz – Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong – come out well in the book. Brubeck admired Armstrong and wrote a musical for him called The Real Ambassadors. Brubeck could not get word direct to the famous trumpeter so waited outside his Chicago hotel room to ask him to take part in a production of the show. “Eventually a waiter turned up with a tray of food, and when Louis opened and saw me there, he gave me a big smile and told the waiter that Mr Brubeck would be having the same as him – so one more steak, please,” the pianist recalled.
Tumblr media
Armstrong happily agreed to the project, a matter of lasting pride to Brubeck, who had grown up admiring the trumpeter as well as pianists such as Fats Waller and Teddy Wilson, who were Satchmo’s contemporaries. A move into composing Though Brubeck is associated with Colombia Records, A Life In Time tells the fascinating story of his move to Decca Records – and why he chose to move to that famous label in 1968 to record his extended choral and orchestral albums The Light In The Wilderness and The Gates Of Justice. “Now that Brubeck was interested in pursuing a career as a composer, he felt that Columbia had let him down,” writes Clark. Some of the music Decca recorded was composed by Brubeck in tribute to his nephew Philip, who had died from a brain tumour at 16. Columbia executive Teo Macero was upset to lose one of their top jazz stars, but he admitted in a company memo in October 1968 that Decca were “doing more” for Brubeck as a label – and talked wistfully about the merits of Blue Note and Verve in the jazz field. Brubeck went on composing, recording and performing for the next four decades before dying on 5 December 2012, a day before his 92nd birthday, on the way to a cardiology appointment. He left a magnificent jazz legacy that is well served by Clark’s impressive book. Dave Brubeck: A Life In Time, by Philip Clark, is published on 18 February 2020 by Da Capo Press in the US and Headline in the UK. Read the full article
