Endless
The story that clears the third roadblock for @kakairu-rocks Maze Challenge: Teleported to Another World AU.
Summary: Iruka didn't know how he got there, but he was standing back to back to back with Kakashi and Sakura. Enemies kept appearing on the other side of the bridges in endless waves.
đŹ đ¸ đş
Iruka didn't know how he got there. One moment, he was sitting at his desk at the academy, the next, he was standing, back to back to back with Kakashi and Sakura, strange weapons in his hands. No matter that he hadn't seen them before, âweaponâ was a look he recognized anywhere. They were in⌠an arena? A flat, open floor. A centre stage accessed only by bridged, narrow pathways. Lights were on the bridges, but not elsewhere. He looked up. There was some kind of buzzing, hovering⌠things. They looked like a streamlined, flying version of the daimyoâs cameras.
The feeling of an icepick to his brain. If it wasn't for a lifetime of training, he'd have dropped the weapons. Then, in an instant, he knew what the weapons were, how they worked, where they were⌠what they needed to do.
Just in time for the first wave of foes to appear on the other side of the bridge.
He fired in an instant, just a touch of chakra creating a projectile. And again. And again. And again. His⌠enemies⌠exploded, each shot taking out a group. The waves were endless, barely a moment to take a deep breath between them. Iruka caught glimpses of skeletons, and things that were skeletal, but⌠wrong. Some creatures looked like bear summons, but they stood on two legs and threw bombs.
Iruka didn't understand why he wasn't dead already from the poisons the bombs released when they broke open. Then he was struck by an arrow, and it disappeared. WTF? In his confusion, his shots faltered, and he was hit by two more. He gathered himself to ignore the painâhe didn't want to dieâand kept firing. The ache remained⌠for a moment⌠and the wound closed.
There was healing energy coming from Sakura in a continuous flow. She was healing them. He did his best to expand his awareness from the foes in front of him, letting his weapons fire automatically, and now he felt the rumble of earth (but there was no âearthâ here. Sakura must be creating it with chakra, as he was his own projectiles) and a crackle in the air of Kakashi casting lightning bolt after lightning bolt.
There were more enemies, coming faster and faster. They were harder to kill now, too. He had to fire more than once to kill each creature. He took more hits from their arrows and bombs. Now there were ghouls getting close enough to drain his chakra and energy. He heard grunts from both Kakashi and Sakura taking hits. Sakuraâs healing wasn't keeping up anymore.
The first creature reached the centre. It swung a sword at him. Iruka didn't have anything to block it! Not even a kunai! He dodged to the side and shot the skeleton three times in the head. It exploded into ash before it could swing again. Iruka knew that it was only a matter of time before he died. Before Kakashi died. Before Sakura died.
He dodged again, and his foot came in contact with a bottle dropped by the creature. He knew, like he had with the weapons, that it would heal him, if only he had a moment to open it. As if wishing made it so, it opened and released its healing powers. Iruka felt a rush of energy.
âTouch the bottles when you can! They heal!â
Fire.
Fire.
Fire.
He felt Sakura moving more as she sent out blasts of earth. Heard Kakashi inhale sharply. Iruka was practically dancing as he fired, picking up more and more bottles. He drank them as quickly as he was able, and occasionally tossed open bottles Kakashi or Sakura's way.
The extra healing only worked for a time. Hours, maybe. It certainly felt like hours.
Fire, fire, fire.
Faster. He had to be faster.
His energy was draining faster than the potions could replenish it.
A spread of arrows came his way. There was no place to dodge. Three to the chest, he could see them dripping with green poison.
Fire, fire, fire, fire.
A gout of flame came from the back. All three of them took damage from that one.
Fire, fire, fire, fire, fire.
Energy bolts struck and enveloped them.
And everything went black.
đŹ đ¸ đş
Iruka woke up. At his desk. He felt a visceral level of panic like never before in his life. He bolted for Kakashi's office.
He practically ran into Kakashi just outside the open door. Sakura arrived a moment later. Both had the wild look in their eyes that he could feel in his own self. Iruka touched Kakashi all over, making sure he was whole, with no holes. Kakashi's hands were doing the same to him, then to Sakura. Sakuraâs hands were on their backs, wreathed in green.
It had all been real.

Unfortunately, due to past experiences in another game that I was involved in, one of the players has left the game. I'm not a perfect person and I did mess up back then (it was an unmedicated day and I had an outburst) but I've been trying my hardest to keep myself in check. I guess I just impacted them that badly. I'm not happy with myself and frankly this is a bit discouraging (to the point I'm considering just dropping TTRPGs altogether if people feel this way about playing with me so I don't make them uncomfortable). But I at least want to finish writing this whole thing. Maybe I'll put the statblocks and everything online someday so other people can run this setting.
Sorry for the negative rambling. This post was just supposed to be an announcement that we had one less player.

MOTU 2002 episode Trust. Stratos and Trap-Jaw are both injured while doing reconnaissance for their sides, looking for a substance called Eternium. They do the usual âWe need to work together to survive.â stick, and Trap-Jaw betrays Stratos at every opportunity, leading to his own eventual failure.
Something I very much enjoy about this episode is Stratos smarmy comments despite his unwavering commitment to doing the right thing.
Also Elder Kulatak is voiced by the very ASMRish voice of Mr. Campbell LaneđĽ°
I just wish it wasnât a cold weather episode lol! At least Adam gets an awesome ice axe to use for a little while.

"So, Mother of the Cosmos..."
"Please. Liettora is fine."
"Ah, of course. You only ever wanted to be acknowledged, and not worshipped."
There was a comfortable silence between the two deities as one poured the boiling water from the kettle into two cups, sliding one saucer across the small table to the woman wrapped in flowing silks and an otherworldly glow.
"So, aeons trapped in a loop of reincarnation, and at long last it was one of my followers that freed you from your mortal vessel." The younger deity quirked a half-smile, somewhat amused by the prospect.
The Goddess, old as the cosmic essences themselves, lifted the cup to her lips that upturned at the corners, an amused giggle bubbling up from her throat.
"May their mind be at ease knowing they did me a favor. At long last, I can go home." She replied, finally taking a sip.
It was her favorite flavor.
It turns out when you die you donât face your own God, but instead face the God of whomever or whatever killed you.

Runes Together Strong - Chaining rune effects
In some univereses, runes are standalone pieces of magic. You can only imbue one rune into an object or spell effect to get one specific effect from it, and adding more is either outright impossible, spells disaster, or both.
We will not be talking about these universes today.
Most universes that feature rune magic allow them to be combined in some fashion, ranging from ritual circles to music to runic circuits. This enables a lot of extra complexity and depth to be explored, and often these universes will feature so called "guile" or "scientist" heroes that prosper in such conditions.
The most common implementation are so called "modifier" runes. Modifier runes, as their name implies, serve no function besides changing the attributes of other runes and as such can only exist in universes that allow the combining of runes. Usually they exist as timers, inverters, attribute controllers, and other such utilities. A rune that projects a cone of energy might be modified with an elemental rune (say fire,) and a distance rune. The elemental rune changes the type of energy, and the distance rune affects either where the cone originates, or how far it travels/stretches.
There are a host of other such examples, but for now we'll move on to how these runes are actually chained together.
The simplest fashion of chaining runes is sequence casting, as the name implies, sequence casting involves creating runes in a specific order to achieve the desired effect. It typically also involves a large dollop of The Power Of Intent (POI) to ensure that the magic functions as the caster intended, given that a chain of runes may have many interpretations. This is what causes the same combination of runes in the same order to produce a blizzard for one caster and a high velocity icicle for another. The circle of eight based system found in The Magitech Chronicles and Shattered Gods (Chris Fox) is a fantastic example of this for individual spells.
One of the more complicated methods is what I call "Runic Circuits", otherwise known as Matrixes. These circuits are the result of placing multiples runes on a surface (usually an expressly made tablet or flat space on an object) and connecting them like... well... a circuit board. Take caution around these, as damaging them tends to have much more drastic consequences than most other forms of rune magic, due to their typically high containment requirements. This is a very common system for enchanting specifically, due to it's permanence, but it doesn't have to be. I am writing this late at night and can't come up with a good example right now, feel free to reblog if you have one.
The final example I would like to discuss today is the Ritual Circle, a natural evolution from sequence casting and runic circuits both. True to their name, their form is often a circle (grounded or otherwise) compose of runes meant to accomplish a goal. These circles vary in permanence, from a single shot of the effect to a consistently maintained magical machine that lasts for centuries. The uniting factor is that, again, damaging the higher ends of these things is a death wish and they take serious study, practice, and preparation time to use properly. CAL's interpretation found within his game of Eternium (Completionist Chronicles, Dakota Krout) is an unusually loose, but effective example of these.
So, yeah, to summarize:
Runes are very powerful on their own, but their true magic shines when combined in innovative ways.
So called "guile heroes" or "scientist heroes" THRIVE in universes with such systems.
Like all rune magic, damaging chained runes is a risky endeavor, even more so due to sheer quantity and scale.
#YOU try writing a dissertation on runic circuits at 1 AM#Don't even think about touching this crap.#It's bad enough that I even let you LOOK at it for too long.#yes some runes are memetic and will kill you for staring.#Just like me.#So piss off.#wizardblr#magic#dwarf#dwarves#runes#rune

Now you will serve Adrata yet again, betrothed in a gesture your sister hopes will restore your peopleâs shaken faith in the royal family. As one of the few surviving Dresnans, Jungkook is eager to prove that there can be love in your marriage and youâre willing to try for the sake of your people. The only obstacle is that youâre already in love with Namjoon, your childhood best friend and the current vampire king of Dasol.
Just a Cozy Bookshop AU (M) | WIP [series. writing the genre(s) would give away too much, just trust me, it's totally just a bookshop au. smut. fluff. fantasy.] â Kim Namjoon, an entirely regular man meets you, an entirely regular woman, in the completely normal bookshop you own. A very normal romance between you follows. Assassin organizations, supernatural energies, sadistic cults, demonic entities, alternate dimensions, shapeshifting oracles, predatory vampires, disgusting amounts of firepower, and additional not-so-normal elements may or may not be included.
Eternium (M) | WIP | 30k | Playlist [one shot. hades hoseok x persephone reader. fantasy romance. marriage au. smut. fluff. dual perspectives.] â Twenty years ago, you pretend-married a mysterious boy near the playground swings and never saw him again. No but yeah that is a very delicate subject that seems to be on multiple levels of fucked up so no one really wants to bring it up
Most no one is surprised when other heroes grab some Eternium plated (a mineral that can hurt Marvels like Kryptonite w/o the radiation) and start beating the shit out of Adam whenever they see him.
So I decided to mix my post where Marvel accidentaly convinces the public that he was raped and @wonderjanga's post about divorced Marvel and Black Adam having a custody battle
Also i'm gonna include trans Marvel because why not (also â¨dramaâ¨)
A year prior to Marvels talk with the press, during a pride parade, he showed up with a trans flag on his cape, people went crazy over that
Then the talk happend, everyones hearts bleeded for their hero
And a few weeks later Adam came along, trying to take a Billy- most likely another child of Marvels- to Khandaq, away from him
People started to slowly connect the dots
Marvel being trans, being raped in which results in his children, Adam and Marvel being divorced
It all made sense now
Marvel and Adam used to be married (there are theories that Marvel was forced), Black Adam performed marital rape, THRICE, MINIMUM, Marvel was forced to keep, and give birth to babies he did not want and now Adam wants to take his kids away from him
Black Adam gets jumped that day
#billy batson#shazam#black adam#teth adam#misunderstanding#a big one#three big ones#Nightwing is seen beating Adam bloody with an Eternium Escrima stick#Diana is curb stomping him

Random 8ACV04 Continuity Notes Because There Was So Much
"Tonight's winning number was approximately six" may be a reference to "today's winning lotto number was 4." from When Aliens Attack.
"Up here in the clouds, our technology makes us invincible, like the mighty X in Tic-Tac-Toe." - Zapp in Fun on a Bun. Fry and Zapp both think the secret to Tic-Tac-Toe is choosing X.
Bender does a play on words with human skin in this episode when he says "The dust is drying out my skin". He did a play on words with a human heart in Insane in the Mainframe ""You've got the heart of a robot. Just like inside me, I've got the heart of a human."
The Beast with a Billion backs also did a "it's a bird, it's a plane" joke.
Bender's grandfather is a pounder. He mentions his grandmother was a bulldozer in Beast with a Billion Backs. He mentioned his aunt was a screw in The Sting, but it was Leela's coma dream.
Farnsworth disagrees with something that he just said again, a very common gag.
"Neat" Bender catchphrase, ofc.
"My manwich" Hermes catchphrase, ofc.
In "Parasites Lost", the mayor of Fry's colon said his ancestors came over on the sandwich, so it probably is NOT the same worm since their lifespans were supposed to be very short.. or y'know, the writers maybe ignored that.
Farnsworth introduced the enlarging ray in "Anthology of Interest I", so the crew doesn't remember it because that didn't actually happen (but like the fing-longer, he must have invented it in real life, too). It also looked pretty different in that episode.
"You could end up permanently tasting colors". Fry tasted purple in "The Why of Fry", another episode where Nibbler is an important character.
Not really continuity related, but wouldn't it have been easier to just get some more sand from Eternium?

Double Edged Sword
While everyone hunts for the super-powered metal Eternium, a boy named Chad learns some tough lessons about the difference between pretend fighting and real life. I was impressed by how this episode handled its themes of contradiction â He-Man respects the trauma suffered by an old veteran who refuses to fight anymore but also acknowledges the need for self-defense, and warns kids about the dangers of fighting while admitting that his own show makes fighting look pretty fun. Itâs also got a helicopter-bee-elephant monstrosity named Burbie the Fuzz Bee. Fun for the whole family!
Episode Highlights:
Mer-Man and Trap Jaw watch TV the kinky way.
The monsterâs wounds will heal, but the scars of He-Manâs dad jokes will last forever. (âHey Teela, can you put your finger here for a second?â)
Orko and his many Hat Tricks
This is my hole.
âSorry He-Man, itâs way too late for that disgusting thing.â
Moral: Guns and fighting are a lot more dangerous and serious in real life than they are on TV.

Random Thoughts on CounterSide Origin update
So I don't follow news and updates on my games that often, so I was completely blindsided that this recent CounterSide update was gonna be reworking the entire game basically. Definitely spending a bit more time than usual tonight getting used to what's been moved, what's been changed, and what's been removed. I can certainly see why a lot of this has been controversial with the playerbase.
I actually do think there have been some decent changes tho, like:
LOVE that Dives no longer cost Info (I was broke when it came to Info recently) and that I can do Dives while still having World Missions being done at the same time. Also love getting to grind Dives again without having to wait for the next time I can reset them. Edit: OH AND I SOMEHOW FORGOT! But the new system of how they do the Dive squads- *chef kiss* I was also having a problem of my stronger squads getting burned out and failing the Dive because my weaker squads couldn't pull through, so the new system of a single squad just going until it dies before it cycles to the next squad is so far doing wonders for me. We'll see how I do once I get back to the higher coordinates.
LOVE a lot of the freebies they've been giving out for this update, and the special event giving the chance for free Awakened Units!? I'm already close to halfway for my first Awakened Unit testimonial and the time given for this event is REALLY generous for the pretty big rewards being offered. This is definitely a good time to login in for both new and old players just for collecting all the free stuff and promotional rewards.
I like that there's more space on the home screen to play around with when customizing. While I'll need to re-adjust on where I go to click certain stuff, it is nice that the UI isn't covering some of the characters and trophies I squeezed into my home screen (mainly those on the edges and the right half of the screen).
And I'm so far kinda neutral on how they changed the Dupe system and Limit Fusion system, as well as most of the UI changes. I might need a few more days of play before it gets to me or something. I'm mainly neutral rn since a lot of my units were already pretty upgraded before the update so for the time being Limit Fusion (and by extension Skill leveling) won't be so costly for me.
Oh but I do have a few issues still.
WHY would they think that getting rid of Unit EXP in battles was a good idea. That was how I was leveling most of my units at this point. Not just because of Salary Negotiation mats, but also leveling Units starts to get expensive with Coins! And I liked leveling most units that I'd never use via farming battles since I'd get free Quartz without having to invest mats (beyond the Eternium used for those battles obviously).
The current UI does mean that farming the daily limited battles gets a tad bit longer and more tedious, although that is countered a little if one uses the new "Favorite" feature to pin battles. However, the new UI also generally makes the organization of all the side stories and events messy. I like the timeline idea to illustrate when each story is taking place in connection to the Main Story, but it is annoying to scroll through and some of the branches start to get confusing and messed up.
I'm also a bit confused if Limited Time Event stories are still going to be a thing, and if so, where they are going to be located? I saw some previous LTE stories on the timeline UI, but I'm not sure if that means they've been added as permanent side stories as they are currently locked for me; and if so, if LTE stories going forward will be added to the timeline permanently after their run, or if LTE stories are being retired as a feature as a whole and they're adding all the past LTE stories as permanent content now because of that.
So in summary, pretty monumental update that, while having its downsides and areas of needing to get adjusted to, I don't necessarily think it'll be the doomsday others have been complaining about (although this is coming from someone who is currently not too big on PVP, wasn't too deep in Challenge mode or Shadow Palace when it was still around, and doesn't really understand stats, min-maxing, and the technical aspects of gameplay that much).
#counterside#counter:side#counter side#my post#my posts#I may edit this over the next few days as I play more#or I may just add stuff in notes#tbh my current thoughts on pvp is that it was already annoying for me before the update so I can't judge if it's gonna get worse or not#really wishing either the dev team or a content creator made a concise overview of everything new and changed#because even after going over patch notes there are still some areas of confusion for me; like the LTE story events#also side note that I wish it was easier to tell when maintenance was over or not because the dates and times posted were not lining up...#...to my time zone and I kept checking social media for an announcement before finally checking myself if I could get into the game
