Snowy Thoughts
Book: Open Heart Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x F!MC (Genevieve McClure), feat. Ellie McClure Word Count: 1049 Rating: G Category: fluff, domestic bliss Trope(s):
Summary: Gen watches Ethan play in the snow with their niece.
Warnings: none
A/N: One last entry for @choicesficwriterscreations holiday event. Takes place during the January update or ‘tis the damn season.
Tumblr media
They’d woken up to a fresh blanket of snow, crisp and white. It made her giddy, like a child. Or her niece, who had woken up in screams of excitement.
Ethan and Gen had decided to spend the weekend in her hometown with her family. They’d missed Christmas a few weeks back, so they’d picked a random weekend in January to rectify the situation.
It always melts her heart to see how much her family has grown to love Ethan. Especially her niece, Ellie. When Ellie met him years ago, she had run up to Ethan and gave him a hug. All smiles and asking if he would marry Auntie G one day. At the time, Gen had been mortified, as her and Ethan had only been dating – officially – for two months, but Ethan played along, giving her niece the only appropriate answer.
Someday, Ellie.
Back then, no one thought anything of it, but nine months later he proposed and now two years later they were married.
And Ethan had graduated from Etan to Uncle Ethan, quickly becoming Ellie’s favorite person in the world. Which meant whenever the Ramsey’s go up to Maine for a visit, they stay with Gen’s brother and sister-in-law.
“Auntie G!?” The six year old runs into the living room, already dressed for the snow. “Is Uncle Ethan awake?”
“He’s in the kitchen, making us coffee.” Gen laughs, Ellie not bothering to hear the rest of the sentence and running into the other room. She follows close behind, never one to miss the sweet interactions between Ellie and Ethan.
“Uncle Ethan, will you come play in the snow with me?” She beams up at him, with a pleading lip.
Not unlike the one Gen uses when she wants something from her husband.
“Did your aunt teach you that face?” Ethan chuckles, kneeling down to be at Ellie’s level.
“No. Will you? Please!?”
“Sure. How about we have everyone come out and play?”
“Okay.” She runs away, her feet stomping up the stairs. “Mom!”
Twenty minutes later and the whole family is outside: Gen, Ethan, Henry, Clara, Eli and Ellie. Making snow angles and snow forts.
Gen walks over to her husband, arms coming around his waist. ”Thank you for indulging her. You’re a good uncle.”
“I don’t mind, honestly.” Ethan smiles, wrapping his own arms around her. “I see it as practice for when we have our own children. Though, hopefully, they don’t learn to make that same face. I’m screwed if you and our children have it.”
“You’ll be a great dad.” She leans up on her tiptoes to kiss him, the snow crunching under her boots, but their lips barely touch before they’re interrupted.
“No kissing! Daddy said so.” Ellie throws a snowball from beside Henry, erupting into a fit of giggles. “Mommy and Daddy and Eli are going inside, but can we stay outside? We can make a snowman!”
She prances over to them, her tiny gloved hand pulling one of Ethan’s off of Gen’s waist. “Will you help?”
“Of course, Ellie.” Ethan kisses Gen’s cheek before letting Ellie pull him away.
She can’t help the smile that spreads, her heart so full at the sight of Ethan and their niece.
They’d decided a few months prior, to wait a little longer on having kids of their own. They wanted them together, but Gen wasn’t ready to give up what they currently have by bringing a baby into it. She enjoyed it just being the two of them, a semi-newly married couple.
If she was honest, the thought of losing that, their little bubble of just Ethan and Genevieve, made her anxious. The unknowns of what their relationship would turn into after having a child terrified her.
But she also knew that Ethan was ready. He wanted kids as soon as possible, especially after they learned Tobias and his fiancée were expecting last year and their baby being born just a few days ago. He wanted to begin the next phase of their life, and it broke her heart a little to make him wait.
Though, Ethan was quick to remind her that while he was ready, there was no real pressure on her and he’d happily and patiently wait until she was too.
Gen looks back at her husband and niece, rolling a second ball of now. The six year old chatting away and Ethan nodding his head.
He really will make an amazing father. So caring and patient, happy to build a snowman or play pirates and princess. Their future kids will be so lucky to have him as their dad.
“Auntie G, come help.” Ellie calls her over, big smile on her small face. “We need to put his face on.”
“Of course, Nuggs.” She joins them in the middle of the backyard. “He looks great already.”
“Thank you. Uncle Ethan put on his head cause I’m too short and he’s very tall.”
“He is.” She winks at him, to which he shakes his head. “What are you going to use for his eyes and smile?”
“Um.. Oh, I know. Marbles from my collection. I’ll be back.” Before either adult can say anything, Ellie runs inside, leaving them alone in the backyard.
“What had you so far away just now? I kept looking over at you and you seemed a million miles away.” Ethan is quick to take her into his arms once they’re alone. Concern etched all over his face.
“I was just thinking.” Gen drapes her arms around his neck, shuffling as close as she can with their bulking winter coats.
“Oh?”
“Nothing bad, I promise.” She nuzzles her nose against his, that warm feeling she always gets when she’s in his arms flooding her veins.
It’s the feeling of safety, and home, Gen has come to learn in the years she’s been with Ethan. Something she’s never had with anyone else. Chaos and mayhem could be erupting around them, but if she was in his embrace, none of it mattered.
Perhaps, that was proof that no matter what they’d always be okay. That even when they have a child, at the end of the day, they’d still be them. Two people madly in love.
And maybe, with that knowledge, she was closer to being ready than she thought.
Tumblr media
A/N: And guess who’s born August next year? Lizzie.
Hope you all had a new year!

I was neutral on etan but then he punched (? I think he punched I played that chapter right after I woke up lol) benji and I was like alright I'm absolutely going after him in season 2
It was so kind of him to save us from an embarrassing, likely fatal, fall and very nice knocking the fuck out of Douche CEO. He really didn’t have to but he did anyways. But the second Mishel said its a Tom Ford jacket, my legs were wide open all of a sudden. A bitch is broke and struggling, he’s a wealthy silver fox - its clear they need to come to some kind of arrangement.
TL;DR Etan can get it any time, any place.

Ethan fastened his seatbelt, already settled into the comfortable leather seat when Tobias jumped in the driver's side.
"I can't believe you," Ethan complained. "You dragged us to every jewelry store in Boston, half the ones in Cambridge, and you end up buying the first ring we saw."
"I had to," Tobias grinned. "It was the one."
"It was the… It was the one? If it was the one, why didn't you buy it from the start."
"Because," he turned to his friend, "I had to be sure. Casey deserves the very best there is. I thought this ring was remarkable, but I needed to know there wasn't another out there that could top it."
"Well," Ethan surrendered. "When you put it that way, I guess I can’t complain.  You're right. She does deserve the best."
"She really does," Tobias beamed.
"Which is why it's a sin she's marrying you!" Ethan laughed.
"Hey! Come on, I know you had your doubts at first, but now…."
"Ahh! I’m just joking! I can't deny that you two have the real thing. And T?"
"Mmm."
"I'm really happy for you."
"Thanks, my brother," Tobias said as the men shook hands.
“And I said this while we’re sitting, so you couldn’t pull me into one of those damn bro hugs of yours.”
“HA!” Tobias laughed, “What do you think is going to be the first thing I do when we get out of this car!”
"You’ll have to catch me first! So, when do you plan on proposing?"
"I’m not sure yet. It has to be special but not too over the top. She’s not into that. I don’t know, the perfect moment will present itself, and when it does, now, I’m ready.”
“Tobias Charles Carrick, officially off the market!” Ethan shook his head. “I never thought I’d live to see the day.”
A puff of air escaped Tobias’s chest. “How do you think my Mother is going to feel?”
“Your mother? I’m shocked she hasn’t called you yet.  You’ve got the ring in your possession. She has to sense the disturbance in the force.”
“Yeah, the only thing that will top this for her is when I tell her we have little Carricks on the way one day.”
“Well, one step at a time,” Etan smiled. “The world is still adjusting to Tobias 2.0.  Let’s take it slow.”
~~~~~
Casey sat at the cafeteria table, her head in her hands and massaging her temples. She lifted her head, and the room started to spin. This was the third time this week. She thought she had caught a virus spreading through the hospital but hadn’t developed any other symptoms.
“Dr. MacTavish?” an intern at the next table asked. “Are you OK? You look a little… green.”
“Yes. Thank you, Dr. Acosta, but I am… I am…,” now the room was swaying, and her stomach along with it.  “I’ve got to go.”
Casey jumped up from the table, leaving her untouched food behind. She nearly knocked a nurse over as she barged through the bathroom door, barely making it to the toilet before vomiting. She sat on the floor for a moment to gather her strength. Unsanitary? Yes, but necessary. Garnering enough strength to stand, she stumbled to the sink to wash herself off. She emerged from the bathroom to find Ethan standing with his arms crossed, a stern countenance.  He could surely be an imposing sight.
“Ethan…” she gasped, “what are you doing….”
“Don’t ask me, MacTavish. What are you doing here? Do you have that bug that’s going around?”
“I don’t think so. I don’t have a fever, and… wait, how did you know I was in there?”
“I saw you sprint across the cafeteria, and Dr. Acosta filled me in on the rest.”
“That little rat!”
“Enough about that. I want you to go home and rest for the day.”
“Ethan, I…”
“Casey, you likely have the early stages of this virus. Go home and rest. That’s an order.”
Once home, she crawled under the covers and slept for hours, only waking up when her rumbling stomach commanded she head to the bathroom for a repeat performance. She was not happy. It’s true what they say about doctors making the worst patients. She wanted to be caring for the sick, not be sick herself.
With that in mind, she was determined to get better. She was going to go downstairs, make lunch, eat it, hold it down and be back at work tomorrow! It was a great plan until she opened the refrigerator door. The spicy scent from last night’s Cajun chicken filled her senses, and she found herself running to the bathroom again. This time, she surrendered. She was sick, and she’d have to wait for it to pass. She grabbed a blanket and trudged to the couch to watch television when she stopped in her tracks.
“Oh, my God,” she muttered.
Casey’s schedule was insane, and losing track of time wasn’t out of the ordinary. Especially when her workload was hectic, as it had been. She grabbed her phone and looked at the calendar, her mind racing as she counted on her fingers. Then she repeated.
“Oh, my God!”
Five days. Five days late is what she was, and that wouldn’t be a big concern for most people. But Casey MacTavish was like an all-optical atomic clock. She wasn’t late. Ever. She never even had a pregnancy scare before, but, oh, was she scared now. An hour later, she was pacing the living room floor alone, having decided not to tell Tobias until she knew for sure.
She had known Tobias for two years now, almost to the day. Though the first six months of that time were a little bungled, for the past year and a half, the man worshiped the ground she walked on. She had been the one with cold feet in the past, and he was the one with patience every step of the way. He adored her, and she knew it. But they never discussed children, and right now, all should could think is, what if he thought she was trying to trap him? What if he didn’t want her anymore? She knew it was nonsense as she thought it, but she couldn’t shake the thoughts from her head.
“It doesn’t matter,” she said nervously, “because you’re not pregnant, Casey. You’re just exhausted and not eating well. It’s a miracle this didn’t happen to you sooner.”
Her eyes startled when the timer went off, and she rushed to the hallway bathroom. Three little sticks waiting for their audience of one, and each one confirmed.
“I’m pregnant.”
Her back slid down the wall, and she sat staring into space for a half hour. What was she going to do?
~~~~~
This was normally their date night, but that had been canceled in light of Casey’s being “sick.” But Tobias being Tobias, told her sick or not, he’d make the night special. He was picking up ingredients for chicken noodle soup, she could pick a movie, and they’d have a date under the covers on the couch. The man adored her, but all rationality was now gone from her mind. She put on a more presentable top, brushed her long blonde hair, and sat on the couch awaiting his arrival. Her heart began racing when she heard his key enter the front door.
“Hey, princess,” he smiled, arms loaded with groceries. “I’m surprised to see you there, and I thought for sure you’d be in bed.”
“Uh, yeah, well… I kept having to get up to go to the bathroom, so I gave up.”
“I’m sorry,” he said, kissing the top of her head. “Do you think you can hold down chicken soup? Or should I just make you some toast?”
“I… I don’t know,” she said, her head spinning.
Noticing her odd demeanor, Tobias put his hand over her forehead.
“You don’t seem to have a fever, but maybe you should just go into bed, baby. You really seem… off.”
“Do you love me?” she blurted out, much louder than intended.
“Yes, of course, I do. Why are you….”
“Can you put the groceries away and come back here… right now?”
“I can do that… is everything OK, Casey?”
“Tobias, please…”
He rushed to the kitchen and returned to her side in record time. Sitting next to her on the couch, he waited patiently for her to speak. She didn’t take her eyes off her twiddling thumbs until he gently lifted her chin toward him.
“Baby, what’s going on?”
Tears welled in her eyes as she looked up at him. “I… I don’t have the virus.”
Tobias grabbed her shoulder, his eyes filled with fear. “It’s not… it’s not something more serious, is it? Is there something….”
“Define serious,” she laughed nervously.
“Casey…”
“Tobias,” she covered her mouth, her voice breaking, “I’m pregnant.”
His arm dropped from her shoulder, and his jaw nearly fell to the floor. He sat in silence while trying to register what Casey had just said. Shock would not be too great a word. He probably stayed silent longer than he should have, and Casey assumed that meant he was upset.
“I’m sorry,” she sniffled as tears began to fall.
“Sorry,” he said, Casey’s distress breaking him from his trance. “Sorry for what, babe. Come on, you’re a doctor. You know how babies are made, and I was kind of involved in this. You have nothing to be sorry for.”
Casey wept into his shoulder as he held her tight, rocking her back and forth in his arms. She couldn’t see him as a wonderous smile began to replace the shock on his face. Releasing her, he cupped her face in his hands and gushed.
“Casey, you’re pregnant?”
“Yes,” she answered nervously. “Are you OK with this?”
“OK? I mean, we didn’t plan this, but... Oh my God,” he gasped, tenderly placing his hand over her stomach, “my baby is having our baby!”
“You’re… you’re happy?” she queried.
“Well, are you?”
“I don’t know,” she cried. “It’s so unexpected. I’ve only been an attending for a hot minute, and it’s not as if we ever discussed children… do you even want children?”
“With you?” he asked, grasping her hands in his. “Yes, I do. Like a dozen.”
“A dozen?” she gasped.
“Maybe not a dozen, but a bunch. So it happened a little sooner than expected, but that doesn’t make it any less wonderful!” Then it dawned on him that perhaps this wasn’t good news to her. His face fell. “Oh, God, Casey… I’m here acting like… what about you? Do you want this?”
“I love you. I love you so much, but…” she began to weep, “I don’t want you to feel like you’re saddled with me for a lifetime just because I got pregnant.”
Tobias visibly stepped back, a look of utter bewilderment on his face. “You you what?” he chuckled. “Casey, I wanted to be with you from the start. I waited for you. Then, I was OK when you moved in piece by piece because you were frightened… I wanted it all from the start, but I let you go at your pace because I wanted you to feel safe, ready. It’s not just about me.”
“I do feel safe with you,” she insisted. “I hope you know I have always wanted forever with you. It was just my own fear that held me back.”
“You mean that?”
“I do.”
 “Ah, I like the sound of those words coming from you,” he grinned. “I need you to wait right here.”
“But Tobias….” She yelled after him as he rushed toward the stairs.
“Just one minute, baby!”
Moments later, he raced back into the room, reclaiming his seat next to her on the couch. “Casey, do you know I love you?”
“Yes.”
“And you love me?”
“With all my heart.”
“Then you need to know that I don’t just love you. I adore you.  The life you and I share together it’s nothing I ever dreamed of but everything I never knew I wanted. You see, it’s like I spent my life lost, and then I met you… when I found you, I found me…, and now that you’re in my life, I never want to live a day without you in it. We were meant to be, sweetheart, and our baby was meant to be, too… I’ve been waiting on the perfect moment to do this, and now it’s here.”
“T,” Casey sighed, caressing his cheek.
“Shhh… just wait, sweetheart, I’ve got something to do first.”
Reaching into his back pocket, he dropped to the floor on one knee.  Casey covered her mouth when he opened a box containing the most exquisite diamond ring she had ever seen.
“Casey MacTavish, I love you. I’ve known you’re the only woman for me from the moment you entered my life.  It’s you, baby, and it could never be anyone else.  So, what do you say? Are you crazy and brave enough to make me the happiest man on this earth? Will you marry me? Will you be my wife?”
“Tobias….” She gasped, her mouth agape and silent.
“Hey, princess, I’m not really a pro at this, but I think you’re supposed to give me some sort of an answer, a yes or a no, but….”
Casey jumped into his arms as her lips crashed into his, kissing him fervently as tears rolled down her cheeks.  A smile was on his face when the kiss ended.
“Is that a yes?” he asked.
“Oh, God, it’s a YES!” She yelled, “A hundred thousand times over, YES!”
Tobias let out a delightful groan and pulled her back into his arms. Falling back on the carpeted floor, they kissed and rolled over repeatedly, laughing in delight.  Casey was lying atop him when they stopped. With sincere love in his eyes, Tobias gazed up at her, brushing stray hairs gently from her face.
“You’re going to marry me,” he whispered.
“Yes, I am,” she beamed.  “And apparently, I’m going to have your baby, too.”
“I can’t believe we’re going to have a little girl,” he marveled.
“Tobias! We don’t know if it’s a girl!”
“Oh, I do,” he winked.
“I’ve got a fiance!” she giggled.
“…and he adores you, but….” He reached over, grabbed the ring box, and placed the large solitaire on Casey’s ring finger, “…this makes it official.”
“It’s so beautiful,” she cried.  “It’s perfect.”
“You’re perfect,” he smiled.  “This day is perfect, and I swear, it’s only going to get better. This is forever, baby.”
“It sure is. But, oh my God, T!?”
“Yes?”
“We’re going to have a baby? I mean, we’re really going to have a baby and….”
“Shhhh,” he smiled, holding her closer.  “It’s going to be fine, hon.  It’s you and me; everything is going to be just fine.”

Who did you romance in the Storyscape games? 😊
Dearest anon -
Okay the first time I tried to write my thoughts, tumblr just decided not to post it but I would like to say thanks for asking me (i’ve been secretly hoping someone would lol). Now let me try this again
I’ll start with Life 2.0 (mostly because it’s the story I’ve replayed the most). On my first device I romanced Jaime (and what a mistake that turned out to be), because his life was a mess. Like a hot mess. He’s cute, but the guy has to figure his stuff out. I know MC’s life is kind of a mess too as she moves into San Francisco but his life is REALLY a mess. But I guess I wasn’t expecting just how much of a mess it was, it kind of surprised me lol (kudos to the storyscape team for being able to do that). And now replaying it the few times that I have - I get it. I get some of his choices, how he’s gotten to this point. Other than how the game hinting at the rough neighbourhood he grew up in by showing you where he’s lived (which he will defend tooth and nail about), the little bits with his cousin and his ex. I get why specifically he feels stuck in his ex-relationship. And not just his relationship, I feel like it spills over in other parts of his life too. But in regards to his relationship with his ex, I think I understand especially since I’ve had friends in similar positions in the past. Not to absolve him of any guilt - because he totally should have given MC more of a warning and been more open about it when he had the chance. It still just sucks on the other end of that. Even though my first MC Zara is more of open and to kind of likes to take everything day by day; she isn’t the type to fall for someone that isn’t upfront about something like that. Honesty is huge for her. So this as a big-time red flag. So nipping that into the bud, Zara moved on between flirting with Mishel and Cute Dave (who is very cute but very awkward lol, and I feel like there isn’t enough chemistry there) until Etan came along and honestly? I really like Etan. He’s older which surprised me but in a good way. He has this kind of sophistication without being a dick about it. And although his introduction was kind of cringey considering MC’s circumstances at the party and his ‘rescue’, BUT when he DECKED that asshole of a CEO - 10/10. I was like yup, that’s all I needed for you to convince me.
I also made it a point to romance Mishel on my second device with my MC Dior - who is very very gay. The whole Jaime flirting didn’t work out well for him and I forgot to mention how smitten I was with Mishel’s design? The girl is gorgeous and her cgs are probably my favourite in storyscape. (So are her flirting scenes). They’re hot, raunchy - and she’s got a great personality. I also like that they didn’t introduce her so…girl-next-door, I’m-only-here-to-be-your-friend, and more like a force to be reckoned with. Abigail grew on me in a way I think she was supposed to and I find that drunk kiss near the end of the book, very endearing. Also that the kiss in the rain? Romantic, beautiful *chief’s kiss*. Basically I sort of ended up romancing a little bit of everyone but what I really enjoyed is that the game doesn’t force you to choose one or the other and some characters (like Mishel when it came to Abigail) encourages you to pursue your options.
The characters made Titantic interesting for me. I wasn’t particularly sure I would enjoy it but I think every character had a part to play and the LIs were all interested but for their own different reasons. Matteo was definitely my favourite. He started off the way I expected; cold, callous and very-business like. Even when as he kind of came to terms with his attraction to the main character, he didn’t see it as anything more until later. But her influence on him changed the way he perceived things and I really love that kind of character development. I didn’t like Charlie’s as much and haven’t finished pursuing him; mostly because you have the option to leave him on the ship willingly or beat him over the head to knock him out. But his be the hero shtick made leaving him the best choice (and I’ve read that he gets really upset at you for taking him against his will), which sucks because his romance was more light humoured and sweet while Matteo’s was a lot more passionate and raw. I’ve started again for romancing Zetta because that woman is gorgeous and she deserves much better than the man she intended to marry but I haven’t finished that route yet.
I’m not sure if the X-files has any romance because I haven’t played it yet, but Eternal City kind of hints towards romance with the people your MC has known for their entire life. Because my MC was more of a loner it was kind of hard at first to make that connection seem intrinsic, but she did get a long pretty well with Cinder and when the option to kiss him came up as he was saying his goodbye, I was like huh? It was cute and bitter in a heartbreaking kind of way for him to leave their little circle but I wasn’t sure beyond that how to feel. IT HAD A CG AND EVERYTHING. Plus there’s also this really adorable scene between Violet and MC if MC chose to complete the Cager ritual with her by going to rescue her. Violet kind of brushes her forehead against MC’s after and I was really touched by that moment. But I don’t think there’s romance persay as yet in this part of the story, but I’m hoping it will continue with another season of Eternal City.
Well, I’ve written it all (mostly) again. I’M SORRY I WROTE SO MUCH. I just had so many thoughts about it. I hope I didn’t bore you, I appreciate the ask :)

What do you think Etan is gonna be like in the second season? I just finished season one and I'm beyond intrigued 😭 I know every LI has some sort of flaw, he seems so nice I'm not prepared for him to be an asshole or smtn like that
I don’t think he will be an asshole to MC but to make it in Silicon Valley you do need to be part asshole and part narcissist. I think he relates to MC in a way, he felt out of place at that party with young tech entrepreneurs looking to network. I don’t think its a flaw but I think he will be the type to want to settle down quickly, he’s older and probably is looking for The One because he’s already done with the fast-paced lifestyle of Valley techies. I feel like this may be something that would scare off MC because she’s still trying to find her footing in her career, which is something she really cares about.
