On Tattoos

Harkening back to the earliest days when Serara was the only ascendent goddess, Serseh and her tribes had traditions of tattooing.

Typically these were done in adulthood ceremonies, simple geometric tattoos on the face, arms and legs.

And as time went on, they became markers of allegiance to a clan, of devotion, of allying yourself to a (or a few) particular god(s)/goddess(es)

In that vein, neither the Serif nor the Candidates were allowed to be tattooed, as they represent the greater whole, not just one cult or clan.

But in the Drought (that hundred year gap when the ascendent deities were locked away) tattooing practices skyrocketed, as a frightened people clung to a fragmented worldview with desperate fingers. And they weren't wrong! This week, both British Columbia and Manitoba issued additional invitations to candidates seeking provincial nominations. On January 28, British Columbia's Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) extended at least two invitations through its entrepreneur immigration streams to foreign entrepreneurs interested in establishing a business in the province. One invitation was issued under the Base Entrepreneur stream, and the other under the Regional Entrepreneur stream, both of which required candidates to have a minimum score of 123. These rounds were conducted as part of the BC PNP’s ongoing efforts to attract skilled entrepreneurs. The invitations were distributed with each stream requiring at least 123 points, and although the exact number of invitations under each stream was fewer than five, it reflects the focused nature of these entrepreneur draws. The BC PNP typically conducts invitation rounds for the Regional Entrepreneur stream on a monthly basis, focusing on candidates referred by participating communities. The Base Entrepreneur stream is less frequent and is often influenced by factors like a candidate's registration score, the region in which they plan to establish their business, the size of the community, and the type of business (whether a startup or a business acquisition). In Manitoba, the Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held two separate draws on February 6, targeting the International Education Stream and the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream. However, the MPNP did not disclose the minimum scores required for this round. Additionally, the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream issued 17 invitations to candidates who were part of a "strategic recruitment initiative" with a minimum score of 612. Among the 76 total invitations issued, 18 were directed to individuals who also had an active Express Entry profile. Lastly, Alberta's AAIP has shared updates regarding its Expression of Interest (EOI) pools. As of now, the AAIP has not conducted its first draw for 2025. The current candidate pool statistics are as follows: The Alberta Opportunity Stream has 28,830 candidates, while the Dedicated Health Care Pathways, including both Express Entry and non-Express Entry categories, have 1,026 candidates. The Rural Renewal Stream has 3,029 candidates, and the Tourism and Hospitality Stream has 4,244 candidates. In addition to these, the Alberta Express Entry stream pools contain candidates in the Accelerated Tech Pathway (2,403 candidates), Family Connection and Occupation in Demand pathways (2,206 candidates), the Law Enforcement Pathway (70 candidates), and the Priority Sector Draws and Other Initiatives (2,802 candidates). In total, there are 44,610 candidate profiles across the various EOI pools. As of now, Alberta has not held its first draw for 2025, but updates on the AAIP are regularly available on their official webpage for those interested in immigrating through the program.

Canadian permanent residency requirements

The applicants for the TR to PR pathway are allowed to retain extended OWPs, as IRCC continues its temporary public policy until December 31, 2026. It benefits the applicants of the TR to PR pathway and their dependents, including spouses, common-law partners, and children, allowing them to apply for extended OWPs while their PR applications are processed. The TR to PR pathway, which had closed in 2021, is a time-limited stream that allows international workers who have experience in essential occupations, health services, or recent graduates from a post-secondary program in Canada, to submit an application for PR. Those whose PR applications are still under processing and have received an Acknowledgement of Receipt from IRCC, have valid language test results, and proof of authorized work will benefit from this extension. The principal PR applicants must meet the eligibility criteria, which include having temporary resident status or being eligible for status restoration, having a work permit with less than four months of validity (if applicable), submitting their OWP application online through an IRCC Secure Account, and confirming the public policy they initially applied under. They must also have had legal work authorization and achieved specific language ability on an IRCC-approved test at the time of their PR application. In addition, applicants must have received confirmation from IRCC that their PR application fell within the allocated cap for the public policy they applied under or a letter from the Client Support Centre if an alternative application format was used. Denied or withdrawn PR applications prevent applicants from OWP. Family members of the main PR applicant also have a chance of availing of OWPs when they satisfy certain requirements like the one of applying for OWP online by an IRCC Secure Account using the Unique Client Identifier of the primary applicant, being present in Canada when applying and who are real family members named in the PR application. Family members must be 18 or older, hold valid temporary resident status, or be eligible for status restoration. For immigration purposes, dependent children are defined as those under 22 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship, with exceptions for over-age dependents relying on their parents due to mental or physical conditions. In case the PR application of the principal applicant is refused, then all related OWP applications are also refused. Such a policy is important to those seeking Canadian permanent residency, and in Australia and Germany, similar pathways exist for permanent residency. Migrar para mim sempre foi meu sonho de pequeno, a partir do ano de 2000 se tornou mais forte cuando realmente comecei a pintar, mas sempre a ideia de viajar para fora de sud America sempre foi um sonho distante, uma utopia financeiramente falando. Em 2007 por alguns motivos judiciais estive ausente por mais de um ano e junto a isso 6 anos de liberdade condicional me impedindo de viajar a Europa adiando mais esse sonho, sem passaporte somente viajava dentro do país e dentro de sud America com o RG.

Anos se passaram e por mais problemas judiciais por vir fui aconselhado por um Advogado a sair do país o antes possível antes que me encontrassem pelos mandados judiciais de busca, se voltasse ao isolamento seriam por 7 e 4 meses sem benefício. Eu tinha 500 euros e um amigo que trabalhava com fraudes em cartões de crédito me emitiu a passagem de ida e um simulação da volta para mostrar na migração, um grande amigo em Paris me ofereceu sua casa para o período q necesitase para adaptação, então eu fui na fé.

Após alguns dias com a mala pronta esperando o esquema das passagens funcionar, cheguei em Paris. Saindo do avião, diretamente agentes de imigração separaram Sur americanos dos europeus e fomos todos ao scanner e revista corporal. Me chamaram de canto para falar sobre meus bilhetes aéreos e uma suspeita de fraude, 5 hrs me revisando passando minas coisas no Raio X finalmente me pediram um exame de urina que deu negativo para o que eles buscavam e me deixaram ir com um bem vindo a Europa e um tapinha nas costas.

A luta se iniciou aí, o peso de estar ilegal com muitas portas fechando, te obrigado a trabalhar como escravo se tiver sorte seguindo os passos da história colonial ou voltar a fazer o que me tinha trazido problemas na minha terra natal, não ia ser escravo. Ver que aquí o sistema é muito covarde com quem eh migrante, por experiência própria foi o mais difícil. A colonização e o racismo continuam no sangue da Europa e seu cotidiano.

O mais difícil de migrar e estar ilegal eh enfrentar a saudade da familia e dos amigos que se vão pelo caminho sem poder se despedir, ver sua mãe chorar ou sorrir sem poder abraçar lá. Ajudar financeiramente a família eh bom mas os momentos e o tempo que passou o dinheiro não pode comprar.

Migrating has always been my dream since I was little. Starting in the year 2000, it became even stronger when I began painting. However, the idea of traveling outside South America always felt like a distant dream, a financial utopia. In 2007, due to some legal issues, I was in confinement for over a year, followed by six years of probation that prevented me from traveling to Europe, further delaying this dream. Without a passport, I could only travel within the country and South America using my ID.

Years passed, and as more legal troubles loomed, a lawyer advised me to leave the country as soon as possible before authorities caught up with the outstanding warrants. Returning to confinement would mean serving 7 years and 4 months without any benefits. I had 500 euros, and a friend who worked with credit card fraud issued me a one-way ticket and a fake return ticket to present at immigration. Another close friend in Paris offered me his home for as long as I needed to adapt. So, I left with faith.

After a few days with my bags ready, waiting for the ticket scheme to work, I arrived in Paris. Upon leaving the plane, immigration officers immediately separated South Americans from Europeans. We were all subjected to scans and body searches. They pulled me aside to question my airline tickets due to suspicions of fraud. After five hours of inspection, scanning my belongings through X-rays, and finally requesting a urine test—which turned out negative for what they were looking for—they let me go with a "Welcome to Europe" and a pat on the back.

That's when the struggle began—the weight of being undocumented, with many doors closing, forcing you to work under exploitative conditions if you're lucky or return to the activities that got you in trouble back home. I refused to be a slave. Seeing how cowardly the system treats migrants here, based on my own experience, was the hardest part. Colonization and racism are still embedded in Europe's blood and daily life.

The hardest part of migrating and being undocumented is dealing with the longing for family and friends you lose along the way without the chance to say goodbye. Watching your mother cry or smile without being able to hug her is heartbreaking. Financially supporting your family is good, but the moments and time you miss are things money can't buy.

Man, I can say this: don’t give up on your dreams. Look into the possible ways to obtain documentation, depending on the country you’re in. They don’t want us to migrate and enjoy everything they stole from us in the past, haha. But it’s possible—some places are more complicated than others with stricter laws, but everyone deserves a new dawn, a new chapter, and at least a chance to get closer to their dream.

I hate the dehumanzation of undocumented migrants (He/Him) The main reason why I am creating this post is beacuse on the radio, a broadcaster kept making degrading comments about illegal immigrants. This was about 6 hours ago so I don't fully remmber the details. This is a rant post and I really want to get this out there. Sorry if this breaks any rules, I wasn’t sure exactly where to post this. I know the Bible is filled with contradictions but a good majority know you're supposed to help people in need. Why do some many of them want to deport people fleeing from war... Apparently people have been saying aliens will inade Earth on Dec 3rd (surprise surprise it never happened). The hostess ( or host I don't remmber) asked if the host(ess) would rather be attacked by illegal immigrants or aliens. Beforehand the host made a "joke" on the "clarification" between "illegal aliens" and "outerspace aliens". The host said aliens... his reasoning was along the lines of " they aren't going to steal jobs, stay free at hotels, and get free phones". Btw he was referring to tell ones "south of the border". I wonder why... First of all wtf? How is this guy so stupid and cruel. He is a fucking radio host lol! What is he even talking about? Undocumented immigrants aren't going to "steal" his job. They do the jobs native born Americana don't want to do. I wonder if he wants to work in shitty conditions below federal minimum wage at a Tyson meatpacking plant. Only designated hotels have undocumented migrants there for "free". Correct me if I am wrong, some cities/ states pay the hotels to use up the space. Also hotels aren't doing well so if anything they are helping them. There is also the fact that this is happening in almost all hotels/motels. Also seriously "free phones"?
