So I'm playing FFXII Zodiac Age at the moment (yep, I'm well behind on sharing my screengrabs! I'm a whole two games behind lmao) and does anyone else think the Salika Wood would be a much more fitting home for the Viera than the Golmore Jungle?
I know Eruyt Village is technically its own zone/area. But I feel like passing through Salika to get there is much more on Eruyt Village's vibe.
Then again, I suppose the wildness of Golmore is a good repellent for pesky humes. ((Have you seen how the big mantis monsters cannibalize the poor chocobos though!?))
Just thoughts!

Eruyt Village
Eruyt Village is one of the hidden settlements of the Viera within the Golmore Jungle. The typical Viera settlement is characterized by bridges built on the branches of trees, connecting various parts of the village. Among the numerous Viera villages, Eruyt is relatively large and hosts many residents.
The village is led by a stern chief named Jote. She is supported by Harla, the chief of the Salve-makers, who possesses extensive knowledge of medicinal herbs and medicine, and Rael, the chief of the Wood-warders, the warriors dedicated to protecting the forest.
The Viera, who hear the Word of the Wood and live in harmony with the jungle, generally avoid contact with the outside world. This aversion is even more pronounced in Eruyt Village, where leaving the forest or interacting with non-Viera is strictly prohibited. This policy, enforced by Jote, has led to some residents questioning the necessity and strictness of such rules.

Final Fantasy XII Cities and Settlements Okay, so I started screencapping FFXII... 2 years ago, yikes. I wanted to take screenshots of my favorite fashion and architecture from fantasy video games. I've been suffering from health issues and autistic burnout for a loong time, longer than 2 years lol. This has been weighing on me, so I decided to I will at least finish up the major cities, and Eruyt Village, and release them into the universe. I'm sorry it's incomplete. Someday, I hope to finish up all the architecture of this game. Some of the stuff I did earliest includes cutscene only areas! One day, if I do another playthrough, I will try to get screencaps of all the unique cutscene 'sets' as well. Enjoy for art references, worldbuilding ideas, etc. Happy New Year! Fran: Guardian of the Golmore Jungle
The moon hung high over the Golmore Jungle, casting an eerie silver light on the twisted vines and ancient trees. The air was thick with the scent of decay and the whispers of long-forgotten secrets. Fran, the Viera warrior with her alabaster skin and silver hair, moved silently through the shadows, her ears twitching at every sound. She was on high alert; the jungle had been disturbed by an unnatural force, and she was determined to find the source.
As she crept closer to the heart of the jungle, Fran could feel the temperature dropping, the air growing colder and more oppressive. The ground beneath her feet seemed to pulse with a dark energy, and she knew she was getting closer. Her bow, crafted from the finest materials in Eruyt Village, was at the ready, an arrow nocked and her keen eyes scanning the darkness.
Suddenly, a rustling sound caught her attention. She spun around, her arrow trained on the source of the noise. From the shadows emerged a figure, its eyes glowing with an unnatural light. It was an undead warrior, its flesh hanging from its bones and its movements jerky and unnatural. Fran's heart raced, but she remained calm, her training kicking in. She released the arrow, and it flew true, striking the undead creature in the chest and sending it crumpling to the ground.
But she had no time to celebrate. More undead warriors began to emerge from the shadows, their eyes glowing with the same malevolent light. They were being controlled by a necromancer, Fran realized, their souls bound to his dark will. She needed to find the necromancer and put an end to his dark magic.
Fran moved swiftly through the jungle, her arrows flying with deadly precision as she cut down the undead warriors. She could feel the necromancer's presence growing stronger, his dark magic pulsing through the air like a heartbeat. She followed the trail of dark energy, her senses on high alert.
As she neared the heart of the jungle, Fran came upon a clearing. In the center stood the necromancer, his hooded figure shrouded in darkness. He was chanting in a language she did not understand, his …(see the rest of the story at deviantart.com/jadegretzAI). What’s your favorite final fantasy track? (Also I love your work ^_^ hope you’re having a good day)
thank you! this is a hard question. there are so many final fantasies. can i just pick a favorite for each game i'm familiar with? i asked, but i'm going to do it.
ff5 - prelude to the void
ff7 - reunion
ff8 - liberi fatali
ff9 - danger in the forest
ff10 - decisive battle (extremely hard choice)
ff11 - autumn footfalls (cheating because i've only listened to this game's music out of context)
ff12 - eruyt village
ff13 - will to fight
FF13-2 GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD - new bodhum
ff14 - ...................
ff14: arr - the scars of battle

🌟My non-WoLs🌟
Valtyrja Eruyt meaning: The slain God. From the village of Eruyt.
A Fran expy, clearly. For undetermined reasons, she did not give up her forest name when she left Dalmasca. Has a complicated relationship with the Green Word who she sees as both mother and God. Viera who leave their forest homes are forsaken by them, but she can hear plants and the Elementals who deign to speak with her still. She is quiet, until she is rough and blunt. A possible Warrior main because a Viera with an axe has a kind of je ne sais quoi. (Tsuna inherited all the traits she was supposed to have. The free trial didn't allow Viera.)
Cerise Vierge meaning: Yeah, it's a bad joke. But also a Xenogears reference.
A possible Gridanian Elezen, who is possibly tied to Mother Miounne. She is an archer-- maybe a part of the Adders. I don't have much for her. 🤷 EDIT: IM A FOOL she could have served House Dartancours i.e. Lady Amandine...🧍
Shizuka Gozen meaning: She was named after a famous courtdancer who was the mistress of Yoshitsune.
Originally created because I just wanted a baddie midlander. Now she might have been one of Tsuna's sisters in the Okiya, or was her Okiya 'Mother'-- though I am tempted to make the latter a Roe. She has Hatsumomo vibes?? and is Ada Wong flavoured.
#OC talk I guess#stop making your ocs revolve around Gridania challenge-- failed#also i have 0 male ocs omg#lore ; weaving a story.

What types of things comfort Yrja the most? A warm drink? A blanket? A favorite place?
I am so sorry for the wait! I've actually never thought of this for Yrja before so I really had to sit with this question.
I would say her greatest comfort is the sound of rain. I've always head-cannoned that Eruyt Village is more like a rain forest so it rains there quite often. The sound reminds her of home and time spent with her parents.
As far as physical things go, she has a notebook that was gifted to her by her brother that she keeps on her person at all times. In it she keeps pressed flowers, leaves, and random sketches of various plants and people. That's also where she writes down all the latest gossip from the plants & trees from her travels. (Yes, she's able to hear plants. I'll probably elaborate on this later lol)
Later on, she has her wedding ring given to her by her wife that she wears at all times.

I'm well past this part of the game but I'm still spinning this exchange over in my mind. The voice acting certainly didn't make it sound any less horny.
I looked up the Japanese dialogue, wondering how direct a translation this was (Alexander O. Smith gets very creative with his localizations, so it wouldn't be a shock if it was all on him), and it actually turned out to be directly translated?? Though there's a word pun in Japanese that precedes the talk of bridles and whips.
ギース:貴殿とは馬が合うようですな。 オンドール:それはけっこうですが、手綱をつけられるつもりはございまんな。 ギース:ならば鞭をお望みか?
(Ghis: It seems you and [Vayne] are well-suited to one another. Ondore: That's all well and good, but I have no intention of being bridled. Ghis: In that case, do you desire the whip?) 馬が合う is an idiom that means "to get along well with (someone); to be well-suited/matched (to one another)" but literally means "to be [as a rider] a good match with one's horse". It's horny all the way down in in this DILF politicking trainwreck. I do like that the English seems more directly insulting, while the Japanese might be going a more subtle route (though I'm not fluent, so I'm unsure how it sounds to a fluent speaker.)
Anyway I'm still trodding through this game and feeling more and more nostalgic as I go... I've reached Mt Bur-Omisace after a lot of grinding in the Lhusu Mines. I've been rambling on and on about this game on my Twitter priv lmao I should do it more public where I can actually discuss this with other fans.
All I can say is: I love Ashe's character arc where she is struggling to rein in her anger and her grief to do what she needs to do as a revolutionary leader, as a political leader, as the last surviving of an ancient dynasty, as a symbol of hope and peace and prosperity, as someone trying to carry on the legacies of her father and husband and ancestors. That moment where Vaan opens up to her about his own grief regarding his brother got me really bad!! They're such good foils of one another IMO.
Also, I'm enjoying replaying this as an adult and being able to catch a bunch of the allegorical/symbolic narrative elements. Like the whole nethicite being an allegory for nuclear weapons/the atom bomb, and how the story ends up having major anti-nuke themes? I did not catch that as an 11 year old!!
ALSO ALSO I love Balthier, and I love Fran, and I love their relationship, and i wish we got to see more of them being highly attuned to the other's emotional state, how intuitively they read each other, I wanna know more about their past and how they've grown around one another!! I want more of Fran's family drama in Eruyt Village!! Ugh the very brief scene in Golmore Jungle where Balthier can tell Fran's upset about having to return to the village, and then she turns it back on him with the ~your eyes betray your heart~ line and he gets huffy... They're good, I love them.

WoL/OC Cocktails
Back on Twitter there was a trend for creating deserts or cocktails based on your WoL/OCs. For Astraea I made an Eruyt Mojito - a cocktail themed after her birth village, as well as her color pallet at the time.

Jagd Difohr, where jungle meets mist
Jagd Difohr is an inland territory on the Kerwon continent, largely covered in forest and untouched by civilization. This Jagd includes the Golmore Jungle, situated at a lower altitude, and the Feywood, where snow meets Mist.
Golmore Jungle is dotted with Viera settlements, while the Feywood, extending to the west of Kerwon, leads to a mysterious land where Mist rages wildly.
Jagd Difohr connects to Jagd Ramooda, but the presence of numerous ancient monsters has led the Viera to seal off many parts of the road in recent years, making travel nearly impossible.
<- There are several Viera settlements within Golmore, such as Eruyt Village, but the entrances to them are hidden.

hey gamer, 2, 12, 18, 22, 27, 29, 31
2. Game you are currently playing.
Baldur's Gate 3. That's actually why I didn't answer these. I reblogged that post and then went to play BG3 and completely forgot about it. I even read this ask on my phone before getting on and whoops... 12. A character you particularly like in the game you are currently playing.
Aw geeze. There are a LOT of NPCs I'm super endeared to, but everyone's gonna wonder who my favorite of the main companions is and that is... really hard. I am currently in the middle of Act 2 (0 spoilers for me please) and so far each of them has done something to make me angry at them, so while I like them, I am not currently overly fond of anyone in-particularly. Besides Withers. Withers is perfect and I kiss his perfect head. (It's Wyll, I like Wyll the most as a person, but I can't stand how he approaches romance (monogamy is gross!) so I can't fuck him, unfortunately.) 18. A game location you really like.
There are so many. Ancient Cistern (Skyward Sword) is my favorite Zelda dungeon, hands down. I think it's gorgeously designed both game-play wise and visually. I also really love Clock Town from Majora's Mask. I also found myself super endeared to Tarry Town in Breath of the Wild and then Hateno Village in Tears of the Kingdom. Something about Zelda games is so... cozy. Special shout out to Eruyt Village and Golmore Jungle from FF12. 22. A game ending that really stuck with you.
Off by Mortis Ghost really got me. I think about that one a LOT. Also the end of Final Fantasy X killed me as a child. But Tears of the Kingdom is at the top of this list right now. 27. A game you love the atmosphere of.
Final Fantasy XIV. Majora's Mask was also a contender for this title. As was Undertale, really. But FF14 has a way of making it feel like I am coming home every time I open it up. Something about it just puts me at ease. 29. On average, do you have one game or multiple games going at a time?
Usually just the one. I have ADHD-I (inattentive type), so one thing will completely consume my attention for a few months and then I'll be onto the next thing. I'm very bad at multi-tasking. 31. Someone who has never played a game before but is open to trying any genre. What game would you recommend as their first?
Super Mario Bros. That was my first game. I think it does a good job of introducing someone to what a video game is without being overwhelming. However, if they are a little more technology-literate and want to try something story-based, I honestly think Ocarina of Time would be a good introduction. That was the game that made me fall in love with fantasy games and story-based games.
