We are all aware of the popular books that parade themselves through our news feeds and for you pages in social media. They are all we see and it is usually the big 3: ACOTAR, Fourth Wing, and Cruel Prince. Then there are the others like Collen Hoover, JLA and all the Tik Tok recommended authors that inundate our waking moments, so much so that other books get lost. So I wanted to try something:

These will be some of the books that I just finished that I have had in my TBR/ on my bookshelf for literal years because I too was drawn into the book series of recent years. Books I slept on and left me wishing I read earlier. As a start, I recommend:

Type: very low fantasy/ kingdom intrigue (?)

Spice: .5- 1.0

Number of books: 3

This series really surprised me. I have only read two so far, but the authors writing is refreshing. Its smart, concise, and pretty well thought out. Its in 3rd person, so we get the POV of at least 3 people which includes the antagonist, but there are others that may come into play as well.

With the authors background, the strategic planning feels logical and the battles are fleshed out in a way that a historical war movie may be viewed (while A is happening, B is also happening at a different vantage point). It keeps the reader emersed and anxious how everything will get pulled together (at least for me).

The characters were refreshing as well. In the age of girl bosses who are all proficient in weaponry and morally grey/ Shadow mmc's these characters are nothing like that but are no less strong and fleshed out in their own right. Sage (fmc) is a scholar, she uses her mind and knowledge of societal norms and natural science to get her out of trouble because with her being in the middle of the hornets nest (ie millitary age and traind men) she knows that she is at a disadvantage when it comes to strength. Something she works on in the 2nd book as a means for self-defense and making herself a harder target.

Alex (mmc) is a military man, but he is also a cinnamon roll. He knows how to make the hard calls to keep his men and his country safe, but he still remembers the first time he took a life, and he worries that with every life he takes he loses more and more of his humanity. He is also intelligent and a match to Sage's character, but they but heads multiple times in regard to their tactics, however they both know when to own up to a mistake and come back together all the stronger for it. Plus, he is just head over heels for his girl; I mean look at this quote:

"When I say over and over how I want you to be mine, it is only because I am already yours" Bk. 2 pg 183.

Anyways, I just wanted to put this out there because I feel that this book has barely gotten any attention, so maybe on my little corner of the internet, it can get some love.

Aproveitando a onda do sucesso de Divertidamente - ainda não consegui assistir, porém sei mais ou menos o que aconteceu - resolvi responder uma booktag que vi na rede vizinha.

Eu sei que vcs já devem estar cansados de booktags mas,

1 - Minhas leituras têm sido HORROROSAS.

2 - Mal tenho tempo pra fazer capas e vou escrevendo os posts de pouquinho em pouquinho (normalmente entre as aulas). Vou ver se consigo fazer várias capas agr nas férias pra escrever ao longo do ano.

3 - Peguei uma ressaca literária terrível - não consegui terminar UM livro desde maio - e só estou voltando ao ritmo agora.

Enfim, vamos à booktag!

💙| Tristeza: renderam um bom choro

Confesso que, pra mim, é mais fácil chorar de emoção por algum momento fofo do casal do que de tristeza (sou um pouquinho emocionada demais kkkkkkk). Maaaas, tem alguns livros que me deixam triste só de pensar:

• A Menina que Roubava Livros - Markus Zusak (o livro é sobre a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Preciso dizer mais alguma coisa?)

• Sem Coração - Marissa Meyer (como a Rainha de Copas se tornou a vilã do País das Maravilhas)

• Rilla de Ingleside - Lucy M. Montgomery (meu personagem favorito foi promovido a defunto)

Em resumo, se quiser se afogar em lágrimas, leia 🙃

💛| Alegria: só trouxeram felicidade e boas risadas

Livros alegres têm meu coração todinho 😌❤️

• Confissões de uma Terapeuta - Renata Lustosa (isso aqui é pura comédia kkkkkkk)

• Amor & Gelato - Jenna Evans Welch (se você é um "tio do pavê" disfarçado, vai gostar dos trocadilhos da Lina e do romance fofinho)

• Crônicas Lunares - Marissa Meyer (Thorne claramente é o palhaço da turma)

• Me leve para casa para o Natal - Thaís Dourado (comédia romântica natalina estilo hallmark)

💚| Nojinho: me deram ranço

Como ainda tem o "raiva" ali embaixo, aqui estão os que começaram bem e depois desandaram...

• Saga Anne - Lucy M. Montgomery (não é que começou bem beeem, mas terminei a saga jurando nunca mais ler nada dessa autora 🙃)

• Um de Nós está Mentindo - Karen M. McManus (n tenho raiva mas tbm não pretendo ler mais nada dela)

• Princesa das Águas - Paula Pimenta (amo a Paulinha, mas detestei esse livro 🤡)

Os outros que conseguiram classificações abaixo de duas estrelas - tradução: me dão raiva só de pensar - ficam para os próximos "capítulos" kkkkk

💜| Medo: me deu arrepios ao longo da história

Essa categoria é a mais escassa, pq como sou medrosa demais (ao ponto de não conseguir dormir), evito qualquer coisa que possa me assustar.

• A Volta da Chave - Ruth Ware (apesar de passar 95% do livro crendo que tudo era causado por alguém de carne e osso, às vezes ficava com medo de ser um livro de terror disfarçado e do nada descobrir que era tipo A Casa Monstro)

🧡| Ansiedade: me deixou ansiosa

Eu fico extremamente ansiosa com fantasias/distopias, o que me faz evitar um pouco o gênero, pq tem horas que esqueço de respirar. Sério.

• Renegados/Sem Coração/Crônicas Lunares- Marissa Meyer (apesar de ser uma das minhas autoras preferidas, essa daqui tem potencial pra me matar do coração algum dia)

• Confusão é meu nome do meio - Stephanie Tromly (surtei praticamente o livro inteiro)

• O Beijo Traiçoeiro - Erin Beaty (no final, nem era tudo oq eu esperava, fiquei nervosa à toa)

❤️| Raiva: só passei raiva

Top livros que eu gostaria de "desler":

• Na Porta ao Lado - Luíza Trigo (eu shippei o casal errado. O título deixa totalmente na cara e, com o passar do tempo, a gente desenvolve o dom de ler o nome e saber que a protagonista vai ficar com ele, MAS EU QUERIA QUE ELA FICASSE COM O OUTROOOOO 😭😭😭)

• Shine - Jessica Jung (é tipo O Diário de uma Garota Nada Popular versão K-Pop. A briga entre a protagonista e a antagonista é muito sem fundamento)

• A Coroa - Kiera Cass (que quase ngm gosta da Eadlyn, nós já sabemos. E o pior foi que eu tava shippando ela com outra pessoa e do nada ela resolve se apaixonar por esse cara. Eu me senti uma palhaça)

• Sonata em Punk Rock - Babi Dewet (parece com Go! - Viva a Vida do Seu Jeito e eu tbm odiei essa série 🙂)

🩵| Inveja: uma série de livros que queria viver

Primeiro, eu diria Minha Vida Fora de Série, mas sou total e completamente apaixonada pelo Rodrigo Rochette e ele é apaixonado pela namorada dele, ent seria sofrimento na certa.

Dadas as circunstâncias, escolho me mudar para o 221b da Baker Street a fim de investigar casos com o Sherlock e o caro Watson. Ngm suspeitaria de uma menina ajudando Sherlock Holmes nas investigações, né? 😌

🖤| Tédio: achei entediante

Aqui sou obrigada a pegar uns livros que abandonei, pois raramente continuo algo que não tô gostando.

• Anne de Windy Polars - Lucy M. Montgomery (mds do céu, que livro chato)

• O Misterioso Sr. Quin - Agatha Christie (nada contra ela, por enquanto, mas esse é bem chatinho)

• Moby Dick - Herman Melville (juro que tentei)

🩷| Vergonha: me fez sentir vergonha

• Fazendo Meu Filme 1 - Paula Pimenta (quem leu não necessita de explicações. Aquela fala do intercâmbio dá mta vergonha alheia kkkkkk)

• Geekerela - Ashley Poston (se eu tivesse no meio daquela treta, teria vontade de enfiar a cabeça num buraco)

• Cecília Vargas em Mistério na Casa-grande - Kézia Garcia (a edição não existe mais, - agr é Cidades Pequenas não Guardam Segredos - mas a vergonha das maluquices da Ceci é eterna kkkkkk)

This was a really interesting finale to the the duology, it was much more of a dark academia/murder mystery with a bit of romance. I liked the overall ending to the mystery and overall really enjoyed the series. If you enjoy murder mysteries with a bit of romance and magic definitely give this series a go!

Primeiramente, peço desculpas aos meus companheiros fãs de AWAE por estar tocando na nossa ferida, porém não consegui pensar em nenhum cancelamento que doeu mais do q esse 🥲

Maaaas, mudando de assunto, quem nunca desistiu de uma saga de livros? Fiquei até meio chocada com a quantidade de desistências que tive kkkkkk

🍁| O Beijo Traiçoeiro - Erin Beaty

Esse livro é o primeiro de uma trilogia, seguido por A Missão Traiçoeira e O Reino Traiçoeiro. Pessoalmente, não curti muito o rumo que o romance tomou e também os eventos do final do livro.

Sage Fowler tem uma língua afiada e um temperamento rebelde, o que faz com que seja julgada como inapta para o casamento. Então, ela se torna aprendiz de casamenteira e agora deve acompanhar a comitiva de jovens damas da nobreza a caminho de um evento onde várias alianças matrimoniais são firmadas.

Sage fica com a tarefa de descobrir tudo o que puder sobre as garotas, para que sejam combinadas da melhor forma possível. Entretanto, a escolta militar percebe uma conspiração e Sage é recrutada por um belo soldado para conseguir informações.

🍁| Era uma Vez um Coração Partido - Stephanie Garber

Sei que esse é o queridinho de muita gente, mas (1) eu realmente não gosto muito de fantasia e (2) eu tentei mesmo me envolver na história, tanto que até li o segundo volume, porém não rolou. Sei lá, esse negócio de "mocinho vilão" não colou muito comigo. E olhe que às vezes eu gosto dos vilões.

Evangeline Fox cresceu acreditando em finais felizes e amores verdadeiros, mas todas as suas crenças são abaladas ao descobrir que o amor de sua vida se casará com outra pessoa. Desesperada, ela aceita fazer um acordo com Jacks, famoso por seu poder mítico. Em troca, ele pede três beijos de Evangeline, que devem ser dados em momentos e locais escolhidos previamente.

Entretanto, negociar com imortais é perigoso e logo Evangeline descobre que o Príncipe de Copas quer algo muito além de seus beijos.

🍁| Enola Holmes - Nancy Springer

Tá aqui um daqueles casos raros onde a adaptação é melhor que o livro. Sou totalmente apaixonada pelos dois filmes de Enola Holmes, mas não consegui passar do primeiro volume. A avaliação no Skoob tbm não tá muito acima de 3,5★ então acho que muita gente concorda comigo nessa questão.

A história é quase a mesma do filme. Enola é a "ovelha negra" da família, a mãe dela some, ela vai atrás da mãe, descobre que estão procurando um marquês que desapareceu e resolve se envolver no caso. Mas não espere romance pq aqui o Tewk só tem uns 12/13 anos, então não acontece nada - e duvido que ele apareça nos próximos volumes também.

🍁| Os Rokesbys - Julia Quinn

A escrita da Julia Quinn é maravilhosa e viciante, porém ela sempre puxa pro lado "+18" do romance, o que eu detesto. Nada contra quem gosta, mas acho desnecessário. Sendo assim, só cheguei a ler Uma Dama Fora dos Padrões.

Todos esperam que Billie Bridgerton se case com um dos irmãos Rokesbys, já que as duas famílias são vizinhas há séculos e Billie costumava brincar com Edward e Andrew. Qualquer um deles seria um marido perfeito.

Mas há um irmão Rokesby que Billie não suporta: George, o mais velho e herdeiro do condado, também arrogante e irritante. Billie tem certeza de que ele não gosta nem um pouco dela, o que sem dúvidas é conveniente.

Até que o destino os junta de uma maneira inusitada e algo novo surge entre eles.

🍁| Cidade da Música - Babi Dewet

Devemos apoiar os escritores nacionais, mas não dá pra passar pano...achei o livro mega sem graça. A narração mudava do nada (foi meu primeiro livro com dois povs, oq também não contribuiu) e o enredo foi super clichê. Deixando claro, é uma duologia e li Sonata em Punk Rock.

Valentina Gontcharov foi aceita no conservatório de música mais famoso do país, a Academia Margareth Vilela. No conservatório, ela terá que superar seus medos e inseguranças pra mostrar do que é capaz, mesmo que isso signifique abraçar seu talento para a música clássica. Só que, o talentoso e arrogante Kim cruza seu caminho, dificultando sua vida.

Se querem minha sincera opinião, aconselho assistir Kally's Mashup. A história é parecida, só que melhor - a segunda temporada e o filme não são lá essas coisas, mas pra quem gosta de um romance leve e bem slow burn, com certeza vai amar essa série. Ela foi o auge dos meus surtos quando eu tinha 11 anos e sou meio obcecada até hoje kkkkkkk

🍁| Um de Nós Está Mentindo - Karen M. McManus

Acho que o hype desse livro caiu um pouco nos últimos tempos - principalmente com a chegada de Manual de Assassinato para Garotas Boas -, mas ele ainda é bem conhecido. Na minha opinião, toda essa história é uma palhaçada. Cheguei no final me perguntando "sério que li tudo isso pra a solução ser essa daqui?"

Cinco alunos vão parar na detenção da escola e apenas quatro saem com vida. Todos são suspeitos e cada um tem algo a esconder. Qual deles matou Simon, o criador do mais famoso app de fofocas da escola? Será que o assassino está realmente entre eles?

🍁| A Seleção - Kiera Cass

Se for pra começar uma treta literária, vai ser hoje, pq já falei "mal" de uns quatro famosinhos só nesse post kkkkkkk

Não é que eu odeie A Seleção. Tive uma fase "fã" da saga entre 2019 e 2021, mas depois comecei a achar a história meio "meh". Tbm temos que considerar o fato de que comecei a ler pelo quarto volume (foi um dos primeiros livros ""grandes"" que eu comprei, não sabia que era uma saga).

Enfim, em resumo, nesse país chamado Illéa, há uma seleção para escolher a próxima rainha, ou seja, várias garotas da província participam de um "sorteio" para irem até o palácio, onde passarão a conviver com o príncipe - e uma delas conquistará seu coração. America Singer não nem se inscrever. Porém, depois de toda a insistência da mãe, ela acabou participando. E sendo selecionada.

O post da semana demorou, mas saiu! Na semana que vem tbm vai ser meio complicado - e no começo de novembro -, mas prometo dar um jeitinho!

Relationship status: Tbh the reason I've been putting off doing this for so long is that I can't think of a good enough way to say "In a very happy relationship with @galadriel1010" that sufficiently expresses how wonderful it is and how happy I am 💓

Looking forward to: I am trying to come up with something closer to my immediate future than "England in September." I'm hoping to visit a cool city near me next month, possibly twice because there are two different things I want to do there, so let's go with that
