That playful flash in the cloudless blue of Raoul’s eyes had appeared again, the innocence combined with hopefulness. It was an invitation, an olive branch. Erik was drawn to it, the moth to the flame in the dark night. So naturally, he had run away immediately. He had retreated to his room and poured his soul into his violin, trying to make sense of the urge to run, the mess of emotions that coursed within him.
