YES there is SO much room to make these supercomputers incredibly interesting without taking them off the string.

Like I get it, silly creature in scenario (I love those) and I'm not gonna criticise it much here- this is mostly gonna be an appreciation post, but big machine that is not human could very much stay a big machine that is not human.

Faithful mutual @sin-ari talked to me about how such a complex machine would struggle to portray it's emotions through the puppet. The puppet is meant to comfort the ancients and provide a way to communicate in the same style. But who's to say iterators feel things the same way? What if they had emotions that are indescribable to us? Things we could never experience?

And I'm going to keep talking about Ari's points cuz yess iterators should express their emotions with all of their structure. You should hear the thrumming and crackling of the flux condensers! You should hear the growling of their systems with anger, you should feel the metal walls vibrate with sound!!

The PLACE is alive and you should feel it!!! If you wander into an iterator structure and it's quiet, not a single 'whoop' from the flies, if the lights aren't dancing like they usually are, if rooms are empty with inactivity, could you not feel the sadness?

Does the general system bus play a different tune?

Hi I’m CeceNyss and I’m obsessed with timelines. Moving on-

Season 1 of boy meets world is 6th grade, and they’re eleven. This is mentioned multiple times, very explicitly. Cory turns 12 towards the end-ish. Shawn is said to be thirteen towards the end-ish too, take that for what you will, I can’t be bothered to care.

Season 2 is the next year of school, seventh grade, and their first year of high school. This is also said rather explicitly throughout the season—I’ve only watched it once, in the last like two days, but I’m fairly certain they mention it less towards the end, so. Season two could be argued to also include eighth grade, but they do bring up it having been one school year when Topanga is doing the yearbook interviews, so I can’t say.

Season 3 is where things get fuzzy. They don’t say what grade they’re in (I’m like six episodes in don’t quote me on that) BUT Shawn says “three years and I still never have any idea what he says” or something of the sort about Feeny. That is not the quote and I do not care my point is made. Now, this could be taken to mean two things—it’s the beginning of eighth grade, this is their third year with him; or it’s the beginning of ninth grade, they’ve already had three years with him.

I personally believe that eighth grade happens between season two and three. It makes the most sense to me, both with how Cory’s voice drops between seasons and with Shawn’s quote.

The biggest conflict with this is that Eric is a sophomore in season 1, a junior in season 2, and a senior in season 3. That would mean it has to just go sixth grade, seventh grade, eighth.

…buuuuuut Eric could have been held back. It’s not the most unbelievable thing in the world. It doesn’t even really rank. (His hair also changes drastically for the worse.)

Anyway I have no idea for after that I haven’t finished that episode where Topanga’s sick and girls are fawning over Cory for some reason. I’ll reblog with more when I’m further in for all my loyal fans I mean for Cal he’s the only one reading this

But it's mostly full of everything she knows about the Mims and her imagining what her relationship with each and every member would be pre-meeting them.

She burns it after Maddy accidentally reads it.

Yes, but it's a handmade cook book with notes that tell just a little too bit about his life.

But absolutely nobody other than Ace and Red can read it because he writes in it upside down (messily) and in code, and half of the words are doodled over or smudged.

Chloe Charming of Cinderellasburg:

Yes.

She started keeping one after Chad did because she was itty bitty and wanted to be like her big brother (who mellowed out as an adult but at the time she didn't know what he was like to others in highschool). Anyway, she ended up enjoying it and now looks back at other old journals to see what she was like.

Though unlike the others she's very aware that others could potentially read it because Audrey told her about how others read and wrote in hers.

So she doesn't write anything too incriminating in there.

But she does very much write musings on Red, like you suggested in your own post and (before Red noticed her), she wrote about how jealous she was of Ace because she wanted Red to look at her like that.

(And after Red noticed her and Ace came back no longer having any romantic interest in Red, she painted over those pages so that absolutely no one could find out what she used to think of Ace).

Danny Stuart-Darling of Darling Coast:

It has little doodles of Neverland, fairies, pirates, etc in it too (he also hides it in his wall).

Dee Tweedle of Wonderland:

Though no one can really read it besides Twee because most of the words are smudged and there are splashes of ink/paint everywhere because she usually writes very fast due to her energy.

She writes in it no matter the emotion she's feeling even with her sharing her emotions with others.

Yes but she usually ends up destroying the pages she writes in so that Twee (when she's working for the Queen of Hearts because not much other choice) and the Queen of Hearts can't ever read what she writes.

Mainly because she knows it'll probably be considered treason.

Eddie Balthazar:

A personal one?

No because he has absolutely no energy for that between going to school, taking care of his parents and the cats, his detective work, and all the various jobs he does to survive.

A shared one he and the BDA have as a 'bonding exercise' yes but he doesn't write in it often.

No, she thinks it's stupid.

Yes, because it helps her keep a good hold on her temper/emotions.

Yes but if you read it, it will give you anxiety because it's filled with his anxious ramblings.

Panos accidentally read it once and had nightmares for months because it's mainly filled with Paro's fascination over the pain he can't feel and doodles of graphic horror movie scenes.

Red Hearts of Wonderland:

Yes.

It's filled with rants about everything she hates regarding Wonderland and her parents and her feelings for Ace (back when she had them) that turned into feelings for Chloe.

You can pin point the exact moment she realized she was into girls (Chloe specifically) in the diary.

He writes both a personal journal that is filled with all the random ideas he has, things he wants to learn about, and past traumatic experiences and takes part in the team bonding exercise that is having a team journal.

It helps her keep her emotions in check, which when she was working for the Queen of Hearts she definitely needed (especially with Red frustrating her like she did, even though it wasn't really either of their faults).

She didn't really learn how to write until she got to Auradon because her mom couldn't teach her how to do it with her hands, and none of her team mates or mentors thought to teach her since she didn't go to school.

MICHEAL he/it- Oldest fella here! Clocks in at about 5,721. He’s made of an ink-ish goop. He’s a lil demon fella h. He is over 12 feet tall. While yes, he is the oldest, he is in fact, NOT the boss! He is like the sales rep of the place, and acts as such. I’d describe it as a less energetic Spamtom! It’s arms are tentacles:)

Eric, it/it’s, hiss,hiss’s-Second youngest, only about 594.It’s made of a tough, bone-like substance.Also a demon dude, same species as Mike. It’s roughly 7’9It’s part of the field team trio, running around fixing universes.Hiss is the little brother of Mike!

Finix, he/him- Youngest, at 43. He’s married. Don’t even try. He is. Trains man. :3 He’s an Angel-like being. Got wings to boot! He’s 6’3 He’s also part of the field team trio. His partner is an old oc, Quincy!

Brutus, she/he- Second oldest, 3,021 years. She’s a cyclops thing. Got a claw tail with an eye on it :0) He’s 5’3 He’s the final part of the field team trio Her personality is basically the song The Court Jester!!

Rob. It.- Ageless. It is the void incarnate. It is infinite It is the boss of the cleanup crew It can spawn a pair of jaws to consume employees. This is why there are currently only 4 employees.

Alex & Friends Part 18-Bad News 2

Joseph wasn’t really prepared for what he saw when the bathroom door opened. Judging from the noises coming from behind the door, it wasn’t going to be pretty, but it was far worse than he anticipated.

Alex was crying, breaths fast and uneven, body quivering. Her eyes were red, tears still streaming down her face. The bathroom reeked of vomit, the pungent odor stabbing at his nostrils as he took in the scene.

“I’m sorry,” she rasped, voice quiet and shaky. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s alright,” He assured her, quickly closing the door behind him.

“I..I can’t do it again,” She wheezed, eyes wide with fear. “I can't.”

“It’s okay, you don’t have to,” He didn’t really know what she meant by that, but panic attacks weren’t renowned for being easily comprehensible. “Do you want something to drink?”

Alex nodded, but didn’t say anything. It seemed like she was only half present.

“Why don’t you have a seat on the toilet, okay?” He said as he dodged the vomit that was pooled in the sink and started to ll up a plastic cup.

She carefully lowered herself down, reaching a hand out behind her to steady herself. The bright lights of the bathroom made the bags under her eyes even more pronounced as he handed the cup to her. Her hands shook as she took the cup, water vibrating as she put it to her lips.

“There you go.” He leaned back against the wall opposite to the toilet to give her some space. “That better?”

She hummed in the affirmative, slowly drinking the water he’d given her. Her breaths were starting even out, and the flow of tears was finally slowing. “Thanks,” she whispered.

“No problem,” he said, shrugging his shoulders.

A beat of silence passed before she spoke again. “Well that fucking sucked.” She let out a half-hearted chuckle.

“I bet,” he nodded. The room still reeked of vomit, and her shirt had been stained in a couple of places by the offending liquid.

She gripped the counter for extra stability as she stood. “I’m gonna need a new shirt,” she said while she turned the water on to wash the vomit out of the sink.

“Where are your shirts? I can go and get you one.” He used his foot to push himself o the wall.

“They should be by everyone else’s stuff. Think the bags purple.” She said as she lathered her hands in soap.

Just before he turned to leave, he remembered something. “It’s okay if you want to wait a little longer, but I do need to change your bandages. Can I go get stuff for that?”

Alex seemed to lag for a second before responding, but her face remained still. “Yeah, that’d be fine.”

“I’ll be right back,” he said before he reached for the handle.

He was greeted by Eric standing directly in front of, arm raised as if he was about to knock. “Is she okay?”

“Yeah, why?” Joseph asked, a little confused.

“There's something you need to see.” Eric’s tone was filled with urgency.

Leaving the bathroom door open behind him, he quickly walked over to Teri’s computer. The rest of the team was clustered around it, but they moved to the side so he could see. Teri turned the volume up.

“If you’re just tuning in, convicted supervillain Albert Zorland has escaped. He, along with several henchmen, have barricaded themselves on a pier. They are holding a hero hostage, and are demanding that Olena Lepshev, who he claims to be an INSUPA operative, hand herself over, in return for the hero’s release.”

Zorland had captured a hero. Fuck.

The feed cut to a picture of the captured hero and Joseph's heart sank. The hero’s their whole body was covered with blood. Even with their face masked, Joseph knew exactly who it was.

I would like to show some process or writing my comic story thingy that I’ve been working on for almost four years now!

So my main story, not Out of Bounds, is called SELINA, that’s about it.. it’s about a multiversal being going on a rampage and destroying a bunch of worlds/universes. Now a group of fools gotta stop her, basically it.

I made a first version of a comic in early April 2021 (plus some paper outlines the year before). There were a lot of things wrong with this but I’m going to focus on one aspect, the main character.

The main character was a man named Edd, who had a deep, deep past with the villain Selina. He was basically her best friend in every reality and world, almost like her sidekick. My first comic version already had a problem right from the beginning. I started it with “I don’t know how long it’s been, possibly two or three years… the day all the worlds were doomed..”

BOOOORING!!

Where’s the interest in that!!! Where’s the flavor!!! World info dumps at the beginning of a story? Worst move you can make!! And I did it.

See, the problem is that Edd has SO MUCH background with Selina and literally just in general that it’s hard for someone to connect! He goes on all like “we moved on… here’s a reference no one is gonna get….. I’m gonna kill her!”

So after 3 long boring chapters of a poor fast paced comic, I made half of a chapter with some improvement. This time Edd had no inner dialogue in the beginning and there was a HOOK!!

No story infodump, plus points for Apple. Anyways I ran into other problems with this version too. Although I fixed plot holes with the villain, there was no motive still. Edd still knew too much and the other characters kept talking about him which was more difficult, he’s such a fleshed out character with so much lore, how is it possible for someone to connect with that with zero knowledge? This is a multiverse story, Edd has lived thousands of lives, there would be too much for even flashbacks to show as a main character.

Now as a side character or second main character? I could work with that. Instead of the reader struggling to understand what this dude was on and what his deal was, he was just the mysterious character who he lore. It’s like if you started a show with the antagonists point of view. If my hero academia started with Todoroki or whatever his name is. Instead it’s Izuku, pretty much a blank slate!! Name one thing cool about him before he got his power. Nothing! That’s the point!!

For me, I needed a main character who was aware of Selina but didn’t have a deep past with her, someone who would be asking questions the reader might have, someone who is easy to see yourself as while still having a complex character backstory and design!

Behold.

Venus is a space traveler who travels the galaxy with her best friend Apollo in a space plane during a space zombie apocalypse. She’s immune and is going around the universe AND the multiverse/realities to help heal people with a cure made from her blood. She barely knows about Selina, she has questions, and the reader will still have questions about her!!!

When I talk about needing a “blank slate main character” I don’t mean just an insert, or that your main character should ALWAYS have questions. This is all only how I do it, and maybe it will change! I won’t know, but currently it’s easier for me to figure out a story with a character who has no clue what’s happening!

This story is a BIG work in progress, characters are still being made, storyline, plot, backgrounds, all of it. But I will be posting here about it, including Out of Bounds stuff!! If you see an OC of mine and are confused on which story they’re in, look for tags! You may ask anything (I’ll try to not spoil too much). I hope to see you there once I’ve made progress on this creation.

I was initially thinking “Oh yeah, two people that are insanely addicted to Nuka-Cola would be great buddies!”

But then I thought, they’re both hopped up on caffeine 24/7 and probably get agitated very easily.

So then, I imagined they’d get into arguments who knows more about John-Caleb Bradberton and the history of Nuka-Cola.

And it seems way more fun that way.
