THE LOVERS
The energy of this card reminds us of the real challenges posed by romantic relationships, with the protagonist often shown in the act of making an either-or choice. To partake of a higher ideal often requires sacrificing the lesser option. The path of pleasure eventually leads to distraction from spiritual growth. The gratification of the personality eventually gives way to a call from spirit as the soul matures.

BIOGRAPHY
Michael was born in Brunswick, Georgia to Isaac Rutherford and Daphne Barbas. It was a relationship that didn't last very long. Tensions rose between the two upon disagreements with Michael's early diagnosed condition. Daphne was overprotective of her son, much to Isaac's disapproval. When Daphne threatened to take their son to her home country of Greece, Isaac told her to go, calling her bluff. Which she did.
Growing up in Greece, Michael embraced the culture his mother raised him in. Despite the fact that he wasn't able to participate in gym class, go surfing on the coast or doing anything that would risk his health, he led a rather solitary life. He stayed benched during breaks in school rather than playing with the other kids, preventing him from creating solid friendships. After high school, Michael started a job at the cinema. Manning the desk, supplying snacks and drinks to customers and playing the movies. It was how Michael's love for movies truly started. The whirring of the tape rolling, the flickering lights reflecting on the screen.
He was twenty when he made the decision to go to university, however his mother wasn't all too pleased when she learned he wanted to go to University in the USA, specifically Georgia. He'd been in contact with his half brother Eric and wanted to get to know them better. After some persuading and to prevent her from losing her relationship with her son, she wished him good luck and waved him off as he flew to Athens, Georgia.
Bonding with his American relatives was strange. No one he knew, and to Michael, English was his second language. His father was a stern police captain, his brother rubbed him the wrong way but Michael could never tell what it was. It was probably just the fact they only met as adults, rather than growing up as brothers. His friends seemed all right, his aunts and uncles. Yet there was a stigma in the town, he missed the culture from Greece, from home. He soon even found that his study wasn't what he wanted to do. He spent more time on his hobbies making movies and small skits than he was on his exams and he was barely pulling through. It was after a talk with his best friend that he decided to drop out, apply at movie studios where he started with the easy editing work; sort files, put the bad shots in the bad pile and the good ones in the good pile. And that's how he slowly built his career. He moved up little by little working behind the scenes of a movie set until years later he got his name on the screen as an assistant producer, working alongside the best. Slowly, he created a reputation for himself, putting his producing skills up front.
He was twenty-eight when he watched the credits roll on his first movie premiere, a roaring success for his first movie. He was eager to get to work again, get another movie out there but he took his time. Slowly that became what he was known for. He didn't rush into producing. He took his time, made sure the script and the graphic board was perfect before he would consider even starting on the movie. It didn't prevent him from having one or two that were a bust in the box office but overall his name grew in Hollywood. The way his movies held an eerie vibe, a certain suspense that rivaled Guillermo del Toro.
It was during one of his movies that he met Clementine, a rising actress taking a supporting role in one of his movies. Their connection was imminent and they got married within two years after wrapping the movie. It was a doting marriage, despite their schedules and some frights from his medical side of things. They got their first two children after five years of marriage, a twin boy and girl called Huxley and Hayden. In order to get back into shape for her movie roles, Clementine got to work fast. The details are still vague for Michael, but during one of her runs she tripped on the trail, fracturing her leg. It set the start to a long period of rehabilitation and pain management, a battle that his wife ultimately lost. Turning to the use of drugs had been the start of their marriage going downhill. It was when Michael received a call from their nanny mentioning that Clementine had come home high and had dropped Huxley that Michael was done. He filed for divorce and sole custody of their children, which he was granted. That day at court was the last time he saw Clementine.
Michael moved to a town called Kismet Harbor where he settled down with the twins, finishing his movie in Hollywood before he would fully settle down himself. Now that he's no longer working on a project he decided to take a break, focusing on the twins and painting in his off time, especially after a health care he had in L.A. that put things more into perspective. He wanted to spend more time with his children, especially since he's their only caregiver.

#751: Eric "Winkle" Brown was a pilot who flew 487 different types of aircraft, more than anyone else ever. he also had lots of firsts, like the first jet engine to land on an aircraft carrier. he crashed 11 times and because he was short he was able to just tuck his legs up and avoid them being sheared off as he crash-landed. he took off from an aircraft carrier 2,407 times and landed 2.271 times. he once did a motorbike wall-of-death with a lion cub in the sidecar.
there had been take-offs from aircraft carriers before him, the first of which was by James Doolittle, but they were put on by crane. 8 years before his landing, a french jet landed and immediately took off from a carrier in 1936.

Who was the best pilot?
A lot of people might answer based on combat, and give you a name like Erich Hartmann for sheer combat success (though I’d argue that a technician and leader of men, in addition to combat prowess, would raise a name like Oswald Boelcke higher into consideration) - or it might be one of the pioneers of long-distance or exploration flights.
But to my mind, based on the range of experiences, the types flown, and (to my mind, most importantly!) writing it down to share with posterity, my answer has to be Eric “Winkle” Brown, RAF test pilot.
Everything from biplanes and flying boats to jets and Soviet aircraft - Brown flew them all. So he’s my answer, hands down. I also highly recommend his books.

That period of time where they considered no undercarriage deck landings – Yes, it was a thing. 😳 In the early jet age it was recognized that removing landing gear from carrier borne aircraft would improve range and flight performance so the concept was put forward to develop decks that could absorb the energy of a landing without wheels. 😳. These decks were known as flexible decks. A flexible deck consisted of a rubberized sheet fully supported on multiple layers of pressurized fire hose. The Royal Navy tested the Flexible deck in 1946 when test pilot Eric "Winkle" Brown flew a de Havilland Sea Vampire onto a flexible deck fitted to HMS Warrior. The flexible deck idea was found to be technically feasible but was abandoned, as the weight of carrier aircraft increased and there were always doubts about the ability of an average pilot to land in this way. 🤙🙏. The only question that remained was once the aircraft had landed, how did they move it? 🌎 www.iloveahangar.com #aircraft #airforce #airshow #avgeek #aviation #aviationdaily #aviationgeek #aviationhistory #aviationlovers #aviationphotos #avnerd #ww2aviation #instaaviation #militaryaviation #militaryaviationphotography #oldairplanes #navalaviator #planepics #usaaf #vintageaircraft #warbird #warbirds #ww2aircraft #ww2airplanes #navalaviation https://www.instagram.com/p/CUueUlqBlMm/?utm_medium=tumblr
