Cryptid expert Laura is back for Eclipse chapter 9, in which the non-love-triangle plot arrives at last! Bella’s in the tradwife sunken place and Charlie is dancing on G and Shannon’s last nerve. Reading challenges abound as G is forced to read about her NOTP and Shannon must repeatedly say the word “pillow.” Also featured: Esme gets a turn in the spotlight, Shannon makes an incredible Freudian slip, and a special bonus guest manages a hostile takeover of the podcast!

I've been thinking about this for a while (and by a while I mean like about a week since I'm very new to the TGED fandom), but

While I do love me some Lloyd faces™, I feel like the real reason why I thought TGED was funnier than most things I've read before was a combination of all the other visual gags. Because of that, the funniest episode for me was actually episode 55. It does have a couple of Lloyd faces™ (because of course it does), but it also has many other things going on in terms of its humor that are so much funnier to me.

1) Javier vs Bibeong

This entire, uh, dialogue has such a "meowing back at your cat" energy, I love it so much XD. And of course, Bibeong's expression is amazing at conveying his hurt

Also my first thought after seeing this panel of Bibeong for the first time

was this XD

2) Ppodong vs Bibeong

I. am. absolutely in love with Ppodong's expression after the punch. Mostly because of how unexpected it is to see him like that, it's just such a hilarious contrast to his normally nice and bubbly attitude

3) Bibeong x Bangul

Again, love the expressions, but the funniest thing about it is that this is how they capture Bibeong. Magic? Weapons? Nah, all you need is that snek rizz. Amazing 😂

And then I completely lost it at this

The blush. The pose. The hair brushing. 🤌

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I do love an occasional Lloyd face™ (seriously, as an artist I can't help but appreciate the skill that goes into those), but I also want more of the other types of visual comedy that I know the team is very much capable of yes I'm greedy like that.

Also bonus point for a lovely Lloyd action pose 😍

Zhuge Liang's breakdown was heartwrenching. He was already under so much pressure. I know this feeling, the feeling of absolute helplessness, especially when physical intimidation is involved. Words can be difficult enough to handle, but at least, you can fight back with words too. When it turns physical even if they don't directly harm you, though, how do you defend yourself? How do you fight back then? And he had no choice but to endure it, no wonder why he snapped.

What’s incredible is how he manages to pull himself together in the end, picking up the pieces and refocusing on his goals.

Initially, I thought the solution might have been for him to tell Yide earlier that it was all part of the plan. But then I realized, there’s a reason he's being kept out of the loop most of the time

I was right, the man got a good nights sleep and felt better!

To be honest, I'm not totally surprised that there could be more hives or something akin to them. An insect doesn't just appear over night. Perhaps the Flesh Hive simply got more bold then it's kind normally gets?
