It's been a very long time since I've had a new Zelda OC, and with the release of Echoes of Wisdom, I've been inspired to create a new one!

This is Noko, a young (19 y/o) fisherman from Seesyde village. He's a strong swimmer and great at fishing, and he was stolen away to the Still World.

After returning, he was left with horrid lingering ptsd and had gone mute (like many that are stolen away). He also returned with the ability to sense nearby monsters and beings that are otherwise intending harm or other terrible misdeeds.

Despite his fear of the Still World and the rifts, and his lack of ability to move within the Still World like Link or Zelda, Noko still does his best to keep others out of harms way. He avoids rifts as much as possible and has panic attacks when the cracks start to close in, but will often push through if someone else is in danger and he can still do something to prevent them from being pulled in.

Noko isn't a great fighter, but his ability to sense danger keeps him and those around him safe from anything and anyone that would put them in danger. His inklings run so strong that he can even tell when a grifter is trying to trick someone, though not everyone would believe or even understand a traumatized mute man.

Noko lives on his own and often wishes that others could understand him better. Those that knew him before being stolen look at him with pity in their eyes. They knew him as talkative and friendly, and though he still goes about his days fishing and doing everyday duties as usual, his quiet presence and haunted stares are now off putting to most.

Noko will often find himself somewhere completely different from where he last remembered, and it scares him to think that he might walk into another rift during these times where he feels like he's not connected to his own body. Still, he pushes through. People still need to eat, kids still need protection, and no matter what he's gone through (or rather, BECAUSE of it) he has a duty to the kindhearted community that raised him.

The one thing that grounds him the best is listening to Zora music. Next best is a refreshing swim or getting some exercise via fishing and hauling a good day's catch. He's fairly strong for someone of his stature. His eyes used to be a beautiful seafoam green, and turned completely white when he Came Back Wrong™️

Here's my designs for Link and Zelda from Echoes! I figure they're like fifteen-ish. I'm headcanon'ing that the game takes place after Rauru/Sonia and quite a few thousand years before AoC/BotW. I won't say why since they're... spoilerly reasons, but. T'is my belief.

Also, I did the designs based on my Destiny's Call fic, where the Hero of Time is the long lost brother of his Princess Zelda... so I made Echoes! Zelda resemble him quite a bit. As for this particular Link... well... I'm taking advantage of the game not really giving their characters proper eye colors to make him another ancestor of Ilia, Sarian, and Medkah.

Link knows Zelda is his distant cousin, as he has the Hero of Time/Hero of Twilight's journal and the Ocarina of Time, his family having been safekeeping them for generations, but he never tells Zelda- and she never learns the truth. They still remain good friends throughout their lives, however, although the friendship does not carry over the generations as, with time, things are inevitably forgotten and, through constant disaster, certain records are lost and/or damaged.

Fate will continue to bring their descendants together, however, even if one of those particular descendants are not exactly the Hero... more as she is a guide and friend of the chosen Hero and Princess.

Okay! So. Design wise, I based Link's tunic off of LU!Sky's tunic and Twilight's tunic.

You can kinda see it here- the little leafy patterns on Sky's and the tiny crescents on Twilight's. Also the non-glowy version for comparison, if it helps you see it better.

I gave Echoes!Zelda the hair and eye color to match Time, and gave Echoes!Link the brown eyes that Ilia has as well as Medkah's dirty blond hair. Oh, I also gave Zelda a skin tone to match Time and Ilia, while Link has Sarian, Medkah, and Twilight's skin tone.

...The family tree isn't complicated, I swear.

I have a confession, during my Echoes of Wisdom playthrough I ALMOST hated Condé on sight because- put down the pitchforks please- because I saw him as the final nail in the coffin, the final confirmation that there wasn't going to be any Rito characters in Echoes of Wisdom.

I played Breath of the Wild as my first ever Legend of Zelda game and I got RIDICULOUSLY attached to them. From the moment Echoes of Wisdom was revealed, I was so excited about seeing chibi Rito NPCs. I was 100% certain they were going to be in the game because the Gorons, Gerudo and Zora were in the game, and Echoes looked like it was taking some design inspiration from BOTW/TOTK.

Sure they didn't show up in the advertisements, but they also didn't show what was up Hebra Mountain in the advertisments either. So in my head I was picturing a 2D Rito Village up in Hebra Mountain. After all, the Rito lived at the base of Hebra Mountain in BOTW. So my word association with Hebra Mountain was Ritos.

So when I saw that the focal character of the Hebra Mountain dungeon was a random yeti, my soul was crushed. Months of excitement down the drain. And that pissed me off. So I was mad at Condé for his existence.

That lasted all of two minutes.

Condé, my precious boy, I am so sorry, I love you, I was sobbing during the end credits.❤️
