Thank you to @tiravi for the prompt! I lowkey struggled with this because I had no idea where I wanted to go, but eventually it came to me.

“Shit. Shit, shit, shit, c’mere.”

Enzo Arainai was not used to caring for a child. He was an assassin raised to kill since he was scooped up by House Arainai when he was seven stealing in the streets of Antiva city. He had taken up a mantle as a trainer, but that wasn’t anything like being a parent. He had watched Vesa effortlessly take to the mantle with ease. It wasn’t too surprising. Vesa had younger sisters and came from a clan that helped each other, so she took care of younger children up until she left and found her way to Antiva city, finding her way to him. 

He sat watching his now two-year-old daughter, Ash’anne Aria, as she walked with a slight wobble. Enzo had missed her first steps being away on a contract outside of the city. He had missed many moments that Vesa had said were special. He felt like he barely knew his daughter, and she had only been alive for two years. 

It was a strange thing; she was so small and frail. He couldn’t imagine her going through the same training that he went through, being raised to be a killer, someone who only sees the people they kill as nothing but coin. The sound of a sudden cry dragged him out of his thoughts, rushing up from his chair; it fell to the floor with a sudden thud. He ran down the small hallway following the sound of his daughter’s cries to his bedroom. 

There she was on the floor, her face red and tears streaming down her face. Next to her was a pile of books that he could only assume that had fallen. “Shit. Shit, shit, shit, c’mere.” he reached for his crying daughter. Her sobs filled the room as he pulled her little head into his shoulder as he bounced her lightly “Shhh shh Neonata.” Desperation clawed at him. He had no idea how to handle a child as a caring parent, especially not one this young. The crying began to slow after a long agonizing moment. He lightly petted her head before sitting down on his bed. “Neonata, it’ll be alright, papa’s here.” He whispered gently “I will always be here.” 

No, he couldn’t imagine her having blood-stained hands as his were. Couldn’t stomach the thought of her going through the same rigorous training he was put through, and he was putting other younger children through. Even if his training was what many crows would consider gentle, it still wasn’t what he wanted her to experience ever. He would give everything up for her to be able to choose her own future because nothing else mattered to him, and nothing has since the day he first held her in his arms.

Firion's most prominent feature is obviously his vallaslin that he got like every other Dalish when he came of age. Other than that he takes good care of his body and makes sure that any wounds and cuts that he gets won't turn into ugly scars by applying ointment and special herbs, so he doesn't have many noticeable ones.

Gwendolyn has lots of scar tissue on her hands and arms from using magic. She prefers lightning magic, which sometimes causes visible damage to her skin but also invisible damage to her nerves. That's why she lost some sensitivity in parts of her body and sometimes feels numb or tingly.

Enzo has lots of small scars all over his body from working as a Crow and fighting in general. He's used to getting cuts in all places, so he carries a vial with antiseptic solution at all times. But his biggest and nastiest scar is a souvenir from a contract that went not as planned. I talked about it here!

So we all know that Teia and Viago are on and off frequently. My headcanon is that some of the Crows have an ongoing bet how many days it takes for them to get together or break up again. They have an assigned bookie who keeps track of the bets in a notebook: how many days and how much money each Crow has put into the bet. It's a popular gamble among houses De Riva and Cantori. Pray that the Talons never find the notebook.

I want to talk a little bit about my Rook's, Enzo De Riva's backstory 🥹

Any Antiva and Viago lore enthusiasts, please forgive me, I just make things up for my own little headcanons lol

Enzo and Viago are half-brothers, Enzo being 7 years younger than Viago. They share the same mother, one of the many former mistresses of King Fulgeno. After Viago was born, the King lost interest in her as a mistress and soon stopped visiting her in favour of his younger and childless mistresses. However, she was allowed to stay at the palace to raise her son until he would be old enough to be exiled or join the Crows, as it was custom for royal bastards. When she became pregnant a second time there was no doubt that the child wasn't the King's. Furious about her betrayal he sent her and Viago to live in one of the crown's brothels in Antiva City, under close surveillance but far away from the amenities of the palace. When Enzo was born eventually, young Viago quickly took to his little brother and helped raise him. Life at the whorehouse wasn't pleasant, the children were often overlooked and naturally they saw things small children are not supposed to see, but Viago always looked after little Enzo and soon they were inseparable. On his 12th birthday the Crows came and took Viago, they hardly were given any time to say goodbye. From this day on life was harder for Enzo and his mother without the protection and status of the King's bastard. Not long after that his mother just disappeared, probably with one of her suitors, leaving him with nothing but a few coins and eventually Enzo was thrown on the streets. Desperate and without any shelter the only hope he saw was to look for his big brother who he missed a lot. Getting in contact with the Crows was an easy task as they regularly scoured the streets for new fledglings anyway, but after he joined them it took him 5 years to actually get in contact with Viago since he had been moved to Treviso by then. Through a training mission that involved a trip to Treviso they were finally able to reunite and Viago requested to have Enzo transferred to his house to join his training under his guild master. Since Viago was already considered a talented and promising fledgling, his wish was granted and the rest is history!
