Life Update: Back to the Drawing Board
TLDR;; literally as stated above -- I did some stuff wrong and gotta start from scratch. -----
So yeah I haven't been active here like AT ALL but, I also see this as an opportunity to give an update on what's been going on with me for anyone who takes an interest of sorts. This also a journal post of sorts about my actual life so like yeah, feel free to not read anything past this point since it's, well, personal for me lol
My enterprise's started at the wrong place: that is, I haven't made good ads for it (per se), though I did make really good videos. They were just, not ads. At all. So no wonder I couldn't sell anything.
But beyond that, the product I've had in mind has no competition in the market, which basically means it's not likely to succeed. As such, I'm to stop all my currently running videos, expenses on the attempt, and go -- as mentioned above -- back to the drawing board.
I do like the pets niche, I just need to figure out a couple things. First, how to convey incentive through a video. Like, how to spark action. Which is something I struggle with. I've never sold a thing in my whole life, even when I was at a sales job (I was fired after 3 weeks in, not making a single sale despite REALLY GRINDING into hours and tactics). So I suppose this is my current main hurdle.
Until I find something else I'm willing to test out and perhaps a different niche to pick, I'm keeping the pets niche on the backfoot. I shouldn't be, but I am emotionally attached. It still kind of is a dream of mine to have a comfy-cats stuff online store in the end, it's just-- something I will have to drop for now. Since it's a tougher niche to burst into, considering there's no immediate demand for it.
If I am to learn the basics, I'm better off starting with something that'll deliver quicker results for me to manifest. Until then, it's picking up a new direction.
I will be investing more into my direct coaching career. Unlike my online enterprise, this is something I can and probably will only do in my home country, as opposed to overseas (for all you Muricans). I at least need to get my certificate to start working, so that's 7-8 weeks from now at least.
I'm sure in the meantime, I can find something else to attempt get some traffic on.
Activity in writing will still be few and far in-between. I will level up first, then I will come back once I have the time to spare. But at the moment, my girlfriend and I are facing a point in our lives where it's getting clearer we need to move forward. And I can't keep holding us back with my low income. Which is why I'm taking this hiatus in the first place.

The plight of Kenya's jobless youth: A story of hope and despair.

Kenya is facing a serious challenge of youth unemployment, which affects millions of young people who are either out of work or stuck in low-quality and informal jobs. According to the World Bank, the youth unemployment rate in Kenya was 13.35 percent in 2022, among the highest in the world. The situation is worse in urban areas, where the youth unemployment rate was 19.1 percent in 2009, the latest year for which data is available.
The causes of youth unemployment are complex and multifaceted, ranging from a slow-growing economy, a mismatch between the skills of the labor force and the demands of the market, a lack of access to capital and credit, and a high population growth rate that outstrips the creation of new jobs. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has exaggerated the problem, as many businesses have closed down or reduced their operations, leading to massive layoffs and income losses.
However, despite all these, there are also stories of hope and resilience among the Kenyan youth who are trying to overcome the barriers and create opportunities for themselves and others. Some of them have benefited from various initiatives and programs that aim to provide them with skills, training, mentorship and funding to start and grow their own businesses or find decent employment.
One such program is the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF), which was established by the government in 2006 to support youth entrepreneurship and innovation. The fund offers loans, grants and business development services to youth groups and individuals who have viable business ideas or existing enterprises. According to the fund's website, over 12 billion Kenyan shillings has been disbursed to more than 1.4 million youth since its inception.
One of the beneficiaries of the YEDF is Mary Wanjiku, a 24-year-old who runs a poultry farm in Kiambu County. She started her business in 2019 with 100 chicks, after receiving a loan of 50,000 shillings from the fund. She has since expanded her farm to 500 birds and sells eggs and chicken to local hotels and supermarkets. She has also employed two other young people to help her with the daily operations.
"I am very grateful to the YEDF for giving me this opportunity to start and grow my business. It has changed my life and given me a sense of purpose and dignity. I am able to support myself and my family, and also create jobs for other youth in my community," this is what she had to say in an interview with the Kenyan disclosure team.
This is just an example of how some Kenyan youth are coping with the challenge of unemployment and how some programs are trying to address it. However, there is still a lot that needs to be done to create more and better opportunities for the millions of young people who are still struggling to find their place in the society and the economy.

While yes, Linux gaming has come a long way (especially in the past year and a half) and I'm certainly competent enough with Linux to pull it off... some things just don't work, and most companies don't target the market because it isn't worth it when you can target the 7000 kilo gorilla OS instead.
My videos go up on YouTube, a Google company. They go up on YouTube because that's where people watch video on demand; YouTube's only real competitor in this market is Twitch... an Amazon company. Both of these organizations are parts of their parent company due to being acquired. Sure, I could self-host a video streaming platform if I had enough money, but no one would watch it unless if I advertised it on popular social media... so Twitter (Elmo-world) or Facebook (Zuckerworld).
The gaming machine I run these games from is something I built myself from parts, so I got to avoid a lot of the technology monopoly that way... except not really. My video card is from nVidia, as they are one of three GPU manufacturers we have left. My CPU is from AMD, one of three CPU manufacturers we have left, using an x86 design (also only one of three we have left). My network adapter is from Intel (one of three manufacturers for network adapters at this point). To further reinforce things, two devices I have do not have proper support under Linux anyway, so I couldn't run what I need to do to begin with without using Microsoft products.
Speaking of Microsoft products, my roleplaying tablet is a Microsoft Surface Book - which doesn't have drivers for some major components under Linux because why would Microsoft make them?
What about my work? Well, if you're working for an enterprise company, you're using Microsoft Office, likely via Office 365 (Microsoft) which is hosted by Azure (Microsoft) or using Apple products in a similar stack. Heck, my work laptop is a Microsoft Surface Laptop and we communicate over Microsoft Teams and utilize Microsoft Visual Studio (Code) - and I'm a Linux developer!
