La maldición de Enone y el origen de los mirmidones

El dios fluvial Asopo y su esposa Metope sufrían profundamente por el secuestro y violación de varias de sus doce hijas. En todas las ocasiones anteriores, los responsables habían sido Zeus, Poseidón y Apolo, y se preguntaban quién habría sido el responsable de la desaparición de la menor de sus hijas, Egina.

Estando en Corinto, Asopo supo que el culpable había sido de nueva cuenta Zeus. Encolerizado, emprendió la desesperada búsqueda de su hija; finalmente, encontró al Crónida abrazando a Egina en un bosque. Como estaba desarmado y no esperaba ser atrapado en ese momento, Zeus huyó y se metamorfoseó en una roca. Después, volvió furtivamente al Monte Olimpo, en donde pudo tomar sus poderosos rayos y lanzarlos violentamente contra Asopo, en represalia por haber tratado de atacarlo. Dada la gravedad de sus heridas, el dios fluvial se vio obligado a retirarse y no pudo llevar a su hija consigo. 

Zeus buscó a Egina en el bosque donde pretendía yacer con ella antes de la llegada del afligido padre. Para evitar que los encontraran de nuevo, se la llevó a la isla de Enone y durmió con ella metamorfoseado en águila, según otros lo hizo como una llamarada. Con el tiempo, Egina supo que estaba embarazada, y al hijo que tendría lo llamaría Éaco.

A pesar de ser el rey de los dioses, Zeus no podía escapar de la acusante vigilancia de su esposa Hera; difícilmente podía ocultar sus fechorías. Pronto, la diosa de níveos brazos se enteró del embarazo de Eginia, así que decidió maldecir la isla de Enone, que ya estaba bajo el reinado de Éaco: introdujo serpientes en todos sus arroyos, ordenó a la oscuridad que cubriera todo el firmamento, extendió un terrible calor, un pestilente viento sopló durante cuatro meses y envenenó el agua. 

Al poco tiempo, la población de Enone murió paulatinamente. El ganado también pereció por el calor o envenenado por el agua contaminada. Los últimos animales que quedaron murieron por la mano de Éaco, quien ofreció sacrificio tras sacrificio a Zeus en un roble consagrado para salvar a su reino de la muerte. 

Un día, las súplicas de Éaco llegaron a oídos de su padre, quien se lo hizo saber lanzando rayos y relámpagos al cielo de Enone. Animado por la señal, Éaco le pidió que le diera nuevos pobladores a la isla, que fueran tan numerosos y fuertes como las mismas hormigas. Tras haber hecho su petición, la tierra debajo del roble de Zeus se cimbró, y de sus ramas se escuchó un extraño siseo. A sabiendas de que todo era obra de su padre, Éaco abrazó y besó el árbol expectante de lo que estaba por venir.

Esa noche, soñó que de las ramas del roble llovían hormigas que, al tocar la tierra, se convertían en seres humanos. Como gritaba por el temor que le causaba la escena, fue despertado por su hijo Telamón, quien también le avisó que un gran grupo de hombres extraños lo esperaban en la puerta de su casa. Cuando salió, reconoció inmediatamente los rostros de aquellos hombres: se trataba de los hombres - hormiga de sus sueños. Tras abrazarlos agradecido por aquel favor divino, la lluvia comenzó a caer y las serpientes de los ríos desaparecieron. La maldición de Enone había cesado. 

Éaco llamó a los nuevos habitantes de su reino “mirmidones”, es decir, “hormigas”, quienes serían destacados soldados que acompañarían a los héroes griegos en míticas batallas.

This is low-key a series now... Anyway.

Something I find pretty awesome is the way Yuder's conditions kinda incentives him to lie pretty often to people because he obviously needs to hide that he came from the future. But alternatively, 3/4 of the closest people to Yuder are written to be people he really can't lie to.

Like Kishiar, who clocks 37 seconds into the convo that Yuder's lying (most of the time by omission or not fully telling the truth) but usually he just lets Yuder get away with it.

Or alternatively, Enon, who literally will not let him lie. If Yuder tries, Enon will cut him off mid sentence and say, "Stop this, you can't fool me. Just get straight to the point.", really the only person who thinks that reading Yuder's emotions is easy. He's losing years off his life whether that guy is being truthful or not anyway

Or Kanna, who he physically, literally can not lie to due to the nature of her powers and how they're developing. She's good at gathering infos, easily picks up on moods,/unusual manners of speech, and can even be a straight up lie detector if she touches you directly. Kanna doesn't force him to confide in her, though, but she still does her best to cheer him up when seeing him troubled (just like he does with her)

Really the funniest way to handle the relationships of a guy like him.

A strange cat came to our house today

He asked for my little brother's paw for marriage?! My brother who is still a kitten?! (Yuder is of perfectly fine marriageable age his hyung is just delulu)

I saw my little brother's cold expression crack for the first time since his kitten days.

But despite whatever I said, my little brother had already been bewitched by a pretty face.

Kishiar brought a bouquet full of lemons later to bribe his beloved's older brother (didnt work as well as he had hoped it would) and then they got married and lived happily ever after. The end.

I love Enon more and more as he appears, and his attitude with Kishiar after Yuder's golden eye awakened had me in shambles.

Turning flavored doodles as I read the novel (i just hit chapter 113 💪)

to comment on the doodles, i imagine Gakane to be like a mama goose (heck, he forbade Yuder from using both of his hands while coming back from their mission 😭😭) so i just wanted to draw some exaggerated interactions

ALSO ENON !! IF ENON HAS ONE FAN ITS ME! IF HE HAS 0 FANS IM DEAD!! I’m sorry but he’s actually the epitome of my kind of character and he is so pathetic sometimes i love that about him. I also drew him as what i see when i imagine him, not based on the description the author gave him bc i tried and,,, no it’s not the Enon in my head ToT So i gave him a design. Perhaps when the webcomic catches up to his appearance i might change it, depending on how acceptable it is (i’m sure they’ll do a good job but argh the lack of glasses will hurt me)
