Source of the River Sunder - Encana Hills
The Sunder River begins its 514 kilometre (319 miles) journey to the sea from a natural spring high up in the Encana hills. The source itself was later altered with an artificial channel and decorative enclosure. The river eventually flows through the city of Arcsunder which was named after a bridge spanning the river.

The Bow, Calgary (No. 4)
The Bow officially opened in June 2013 and became the headquarters of Encana Corporation and Cenovus Energy, which had been spun-off from Encana in 2009. Cenovus was announced as anchor tenant in the proposed Brookfield Place in August 2013, and completed the move to Brookfield Place in 2019. Also in 2019, Encana announced it would be renamed to Ovintiv and would move its corporate headquarters to Denver, Colorado.
Encana officially confirmed on June 16, 2008, that Jaume Plensa, an artist most famous for the Crown Fountain in Chicago, had been chosen to complete two major public art installations for the project. The first work, entitled Wonderland, was unveiled in January 2013, on the south plaza. The second work, entitled Alberta's Dream is located on the north side and depicts a bronze casting of the artist embracing a living tree.
There is not a public observation deck. Floors 54 and 55 are home to the private meeting, lounges, conference center and sky high clubs.

Ovintiv looks for gains from Nat.Gas
Ovintiv is more familiarly known as Encana previously but changed it’s name to Ovintiv. It is listed on the TSX but headquartered in Denver, Colorado. And it just had a second quarter report (July27). It gets little news or attention from most Canadian analysts. However production was greater than all of the Canadian oil patch tier 1 companies and some of the tier 2 companies such as Imperial Oil…

The Bow, Calgary (No. 2)
The project filed for development permit application is called The Bow, for its crescent shape and the view of the Bow River. On October 12, 2006, Foster + Partners revealed the first designs for the new tower. The final tower stands 11 meters short of the original plan after concerns were raised regarding the shadow cast upon Bow River pathways.
Encana sold The Bow office project assets to H&R Real Estate Investment Trust in 2007 for $70 million, while signing a 25-year tenant lease agreement that was to start after the project's completion. Encana expected to occupy the entire tower.
In late June 2007, the company announced that the Portrait Gallery of Canada would not be moving from Ottawa into the Bow.
Groundbreaking took place on June 13, 2007, with work starting on both sides of 6 Avenue South between Centre Street and 1st Street East. Sixth Avenue was excavated, after closure of the block (August 21, 2007) and the six level underground parkade was constructed on a two block area, on both north and south side of 6th Avenue.
A neighbouring historic building – The York Hotel, built 1929–1930 in the Edwardian Commercial Architectural style – was demolished to make room for the new building. Because of the historical significance of the York Hotel, it was important to save as much as reasonable to incorporate into the new structure. Between 70 and 80 percent of the bricks were saved and used to reconstruct two of the hotel’s exterior walls. The brown brick originally supplied by Clayburn Brick in Abbotsford and the cast-in-concrete friezes have been removed, numbered and graphed to show the original location the brick and friezes were installed on the new building in their original locations. The remainder of the building was demolished ahead of schedule by Calgary-based demolition and environmental contractor Hazco.

Doing Well by Doing Good: Law Firm Friendly Responsibility
Corporations progressively subscribe to the principle of corporate social responsibility. CSR depends on the conviction that an exhibition of worry for the environment, common freedoms, local area improvement and the government assistance of their representatives can make a corporation more profitable. Furthermore, while possibly not more profitable, essentially a better place to work.
Law firms can gain from corporate experience to create their own social responsibility programs. Such projects can help law firms to do well by doing good. They can fortify the firm's standing and market position. They can assist the firm with relating to the way of life and CSR activities of clients and possible clients. They can assist lawyers and staff with seeing as seriously significance in their work and work on as people.
In the words of the social responsibility Karma Panel at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck: Be caring. Be liberal. Be concerned. Donate time. Donate exertion. Donate cash. Simply track down a cause and give. You'll quickly find giving is likewise getting.
A board discussion about how law firms can find out about CSR and bring a portion of its components into their own models was supported by the Rough Mountain Part of the Legitimate Marketing Affiliation. The program was held May 8 at Maggiano's Little Italy in downtown Denver.
Specialists included Sarah Hogan, VP of Shoeless PR; Bruce DeBoskey, lawyer and pioneer behind The DeBoskey Gathering, which centers around magnanimous exhorting; Joyce Witte, People group Speculation Consultant and overseer of the Encana Cares Establishment, Encana Oil and Gas (USA); and Amy Venturi, head of local area relations and karma at Brownstein. Mediator was Cori Plotkin, leader of Shoeless PR.
At law firms, the item is individuals - the lawyers and care staff who offer great legitimate types of assistance. It is a simple fit. There are numerous ways that this 'item' can contribute time, ability and fortune to socially responsible activities.
Social responsibility: Concentration and methodology
Law firm friendly responsibility is tied in with having an effect inside the local area and the calling, and inside a firm. Indeed, even the best endeavors will have no effect assuming spread excessively far. You can't boost the worth of your commitments or recount your story assuming your endeavors are excessively weakened. To choose how to most successfully contribute its assets, a law firm necessities a social responsibility center and a technique.
Social responsibility endeavors should be bona fide. Law firms and different substances ought to constantly stay away from 'green-washing' - recounting to a story that is optimistic, yet not exactly evident. Know yourself. Let your firm's novel culture and abilities figure out which endeavors to seek after and which to stay away from.
While inspecting your way of life, don't restrict yourself to accomplice input. Law firms are little networks, practically like families. Any work to characterize culture and social responsibility ought to address the interests of lawyers, however the interests of all degrees of care staff. Endeavors should be significant all through the firm. The advantages to worker enlistment, maintenance and fulfillment can be surprising.

Fujisawa wins Co-op Canadian Open to become first GSOC champion from Asia
History was made at the Co-op Canadian Open as Japan’s Team Satsuki Fujisawa became the first Asian-based club to capture a Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling title.
Fujisawa fended off five-time Grand Slam champion Kerri Einarson 5-3 during the women’s final Sunday at Encana Arena.
The foursome of Fujisawa, third Chinami Yoshida, second Yumi Suzuki and lead Yurika Yoshida earned $33,000 from the prize purse plus 12 Pinty’s Cup points.
“It was one of our big goals in curling,” Chinami Yoshida said with a smile. “We won two Olympic medals and one world championship medal but we hadn’t advanced to the Grand Slam final. We took maybe seven years but we did it today, so it feels so amazing.”
Calgary’s J.D. Lind has coached them since they made the jump out of juniors a decade ago — “when they were very much just raw talent and developing,” he said — and has seen them climb every step from winning silver at the world championship to bronze and silver medals at the Olympics and now a Grand Slam title.
“This was always something that you dream of doing,” Lind said. “To think that we finally won a Grand Slam, it’s an amazing accomplishment, it’s really tough to do.
“I think when you are a Japanese team and nobody has ever done it before, it’s really difficult to be the first. Even if you know you’re good enough, to be the first is always very difficult because you never fully believe it until it happens. Hopefully, now that we’ve done it we’ll see even more Pacific-Asia teams excel at the Slams.”
Team Fujisawa was on fire all week finishing with a perfect 6-0 win-loss record and shooting 91 per cent as a unit during the final.
“The Grand Slams tournaments are one of the highest competitions in the world, so that’s why it feels so weird that we’re champions right now,” Chinami Yoshida said.
She added: “For all of the Japanese curlers, it’s kind of a dream to be a champion of the Grand Slams but right now, it’s not just a dream, it’s a goal. I hope that not just us but maybe every Japanese team coming to the Grand Slams can compete at this amazing competition together.”

Earlier last week, Canadian fossil fuel giant Encana decided to move its corporate headquarters to the United States. Premier Jason Kenney was quick to lay blame on the federal government. Encana’s CEO dismissed the notionthat the move was a political decision.
Interestingly, what has been overlooked is the fact that Encana decided to make the transition despite incentives offered by Kenney’s own government.
Earlier this year, Alberta’s United Conservative government rolled out a tax cut for large corporations. The “Job Creation Tax Cut” was meant to appease companies that increasingly see Albertan oil and gas as a bad investment.
According to Encana’s internal documents, the decrease to the corporate tax resulted in them pocketing a cool $55 million.  Their departure from Alberta illustrates why government policy alone does not dictate corporate decision-making. Indeed, Encana’s CEO himself revealed that the move was made in order to tap into greener pastures in the United States.
Kenney had presented himself as the candidate that would return Alberta to an era of prosperity. His corporate tax cut, he promised, would lure investment and retain disgruntled corporations. So far this has not panned out.

At stake are the country’s ability to bring its disgraceful greenhouse gas emissions under control and take its place as a global climate leader, and the potential for every province and territory—but particularly Alberta and Saskatchewan—to tap into the massive opportunities in a carbon-free economy.
The other question, less evident in this week’s coverage of the Encana decision but more clear in wider industry trends, is how much longer fossil companies will be able to offer any economic benefit to anyone, whether they’re “domiciled” in Calgary, the United States, or anywhere else.
