Meet E

So, I have emetophobia, the fear of vomiting. I know it’s hard to tell based on some of my stories, but I’m assuming it’s because I’ve focused so much on it through life. It’s a hard phobia. I mean, all are hard, but this is just one that more easily affects daily life. It links things associated to vomiting—restaurants where you or others have become ill, foods associated with vomiting, public places (both for germs and for others who may vomit, ESPECIALLY for public transportation), etc… There is a TON you become aware of, and can be triggered by. I’m not going into too many details beyond this at this time.

Anyway, I nickname emetophobia as Emett, or, if I’m drawing in public, E. As you can see, his design is quite basic. I’ve sketched some newer forms, but they’re so messy I’ll have to just draw it again later, in a cleaner fashion.

In my head, he has some kind of stinger (not depicted here), and the poison could instantly source adrenaline and activate fight/flight/freeze responses. He can spit acid, akin to that of stomach acid. The ears are large, due to my reactivity when I hear someone so much as cough; the ears are my first warning system. He bites if he’s not paid attention to, and because of his acid, it hurts worse than a typical bite. Like some affectionate cat, he doesn’t leave his host alone and constantly tries to remain in contact, so he’s extremely distracting. It’s a party.

I'm not in the habit of posting every sketch I ever make (and I haven't been drawing much in the time I've been gone unfortunately) but I figured it would be good to include some status updates and changes:

It turns out trying to drawing at work stresses me out a lot, and trying to continue my daily drawing habit through adjusting to work really did some damage to my relationship with my art. I was already hitting an art slump right before that so that didn't help much at all.

I started developing some bad art habits recently so I've been carefully studying my way out of that and reassessing (drawing lots of boxes) and trying to take less shortcuts. It's working out so far!

Patch note for Emett, the kobold: a chronic pain/fatigue-related disability has been added to her backstory, along with more backstory and some tune-ups. More on that later.

I've been working more on worldbuilding lore and conlang, and drawing Panne a bunch. Having writing projects has really been what's been saving me at work, since drawing there isn't really an option for me.

I'm watching Legally Blonde the musical with my sister and her partner, and they were talking about how Elle ending up with Emette kind of makes the point of the story weird.

And it's like, if it were the movie, I'd fully agree. But the musical does a really good job of building their relationship, and their relationship I think was added in the first place to be like 'Elle is allowed to be in a relationship and still be a very successful lawyer, she is allowed to have both,' which I fully agree with.

In the musical, it's so nice. Emette helps Elle try and win back Warner, Elle helps him upgrade his style, and they give each other confidence with their own knowledge and experience. I just love it.

OH okay now that i have polls i need to settle an old question

suppose you have an an axe. and the handle breaks. so you replace the handle. then the head rusts, and you replace it, too. then, the old, original handle and head are repaired and made into a new axe with the original materials.

Axe A is the axe made of the original materials, and Axe B is the axe that was slowly replaced and is the one you have used for years.
