Elvira's Haunted Hills

Bad horror films that take themselves seriously are a lot more fun to watch than bad horror films that are trying to be funny. You’re so busy not laughing at the sorry attempts at humor and poorly timed bits, there’s no time to laugh at the awfulness. That makes watching Sam Irvin’s ELVIRA’S HAUNTED HILLS (2001, Shudder, Tubi, Plex, Prime, YouTube) almost as painful as watching Cassandra Peterson come a cropper. Her first film, ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK (1988), worked because sending that character, a horror hostess combining equal parts valley girl and Mae West, into a conservative small town provided a great vehicle for humor. When the blue noses weren’t being shocked by her comic sexuality, they were appalled at her love of horror films. But the follow up, intended as a satire of Roger Corman’s HOUSE OF USHER (1960) and THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM (1961), seems to have forgotten who Elvira is. In the 19th century, Elvira is an entertainer trying to get to an engagement in Paris when she’s forced to spend the night in Castle Helsubus, whose master (Richard O’Brien) can’t abide sensory stimulation and keeps a torture chamber in the basement. They get the look of Corman’s Poe films right, from the credits played over swirling paint to the desiccated castle. But for the joke to work, the Mistress of the Dark would have to find all the creepy goings on quaint and maybe get a sexual kick out of being tortured. Instead, she’s a wise-cracking, randy coward — Bob Hope with bosoms. The slapstick bits lack grace because the film cuts between preparation and result. You don’t get the joy of watching a well-executed pratfall, and that’s just clunky. There are only two elements in the film that work. Scott Atkinson does a great George Sanders imitation as the family’s sinister doctor, and there’s a good bit with the hunky stable hand (Gabriel Andronache), whose lines are so poorly dubbed Elvira can’t figure out why his lip movements don’t match his words. The rest is just depressing, but at least I got through eight rows of knitting.

What about the boys with an alt girl though?
Cw: there are a few physical descriptions used for said alt girls in question but only when it was necessary.
Authors note: This is not self insert and as matter a of fact I’m not even sure why you brought it up! ㋛ She’s lying
F!reader X The CoD boys
Gaz: is dating a fully gothic woman, somewhere between romantic goth and traditional goth. Elvira meets morticia Addams. Not so much a tattoo kinda girl just red lipstick, floor length black dresses with bell sleeves and a corset. Gaz had been mildly afraid of her ever since he caught her talking to a ghost In their kitchen. He’s never noped out of a conversation quicker in his life. He likes to tell people she “speaks in riddles” ie she quotes Edgar Allan Poe sometimes. When they went on holiday he took her to the Cologne Cathedral because who wants to have a relaxing margarita on the beach when you can take your girlfriend to a 600 year old creepy building instead?
Soap: she’s not so much of an alternative girl as she is just a witch. The phrase “stop touching my altar” is probably the most commonly heard sentence in their house. Tattoos, funky hairstyles, hoards of jewelry, long flowing skirts are how just about everyone would describe her. She talks to the moon, Johnny doesn’t really understand why but he does ask “What did she say?” When his sweetheart comes back inside. She has slowly taught him the original folk tales and histories of every holiday, custom and tradition. Johnny has learned that deep down everything is spooky just like his girl. Halloween at their house is THE place to be.
Ghost: big scary man and his Kawaii girlfriend, a tale as old as time. The double takes people do when they go in public together are hilarious. She’s quite literally the sweetest person you’ll ever meet. Of course, their entire house is pastel pink which he really couldn’t care less about. His lovely woman does tend to edit pictures of him to fit her Instagram aesthetic though and he’s not too sure how he feels about the pink glitter filter She uses on every photo. The amount of her pretty pink clothes he’s turned into a mess because he simply doesn’t know how to do laundry correctly is outrageous. She’s had to learn the hard way that Simon just won’t wear the clothes she buys him if they’re pink, he will however take the pink Hello Kitty lunchbox she got him every single day to work.
Price: Similar to Ghost they get funny looks in public but only because what do you mean that heavily tattooed woman is his wife? There are very few parts of her body that aren’t covered, from her neck down to her feet. Kind of an artsy grungy style, overalls and Doc Martens are the usual. The real kicker of it all is how similar their taste in music is, divorced dad rock all the way, baby! That kind of music was made specifically for old men and pretty women with thick eyeliner. John damn near had a heart attack when she just went and got his name tattooed but she just has so many that she didn’t even think twice before getting it done. She’s the kind of girl that says things like “I want your leg bone when you die” with 100% sincerity, John is scared of very little, but the way she says that with a little bit of excitement in her eye is well… a little jarring.

“I’m wearing a long yellow dress with a hood I got from thrifting. My long turquoise chrome jacket is from Shein, my oversized glasses are from thrifting and my black oversized sneakers with metal hardware are from ASOS. I feel like my style inspirations are Jem and The Holograms, Elvira, The X-Men, and Wednesday Adams.”

Just some headcanon I have about Edwin Payne.
Edwin had two younger sisters, one called Elvira Payne and the other called Edith Payne, both were twins and were six years old when Edwin died.
(Elvira and Edith Payne)
He also had an older brother named Enrique Foster Payne, who no longer lived with the family.
(Enrique Payne)
Edwin was not close to his older brother, the two were only a few years apart, but Enrique disliked Edwin for being "too fem" or "too beautiful".
Enrique studied at the same boarding school as Edwin and, a year before finishing school, he told the older boys that his brother was a mary ann and that he loved playing with dolls with his sisters.
Neither of Edwin's parents really showed interest in what he did, but his father always praised his intelligence and his mother always praised his politeness, both of which are things that Edwin strived to maintain even after years in hell.
Edwin didn't like people or animals, but there was an orange cat that roamed his house and appeared every night at his window, Edwin fed and looked after the feline, the name he gave the cat was Tom, unfortunately he never saw the animal after he was sent to boarding school.
(Cat Tom)
His mother was called Arabella and his father was called Edgar.
(Arabella and Edgar Payne)
Edwin is autistic, but as he is already dead, some more physical aspects no longer affect him, for example, being sensitive to bright lights or loud noises, feeling discomfort with certain textures…
Edwin admired his mother and sisters' clothes, and always felt embarrassed about it.
Before his sisters were born, Edwin and his mother were closer, they painted pictures together, practiced the piano, went shopping together, even gardened, she treated him as if he were a daughter, as she always wanted to have girls.
Edwin is gay and gender fluid.
His favorite flowers are Forget-Me-Nots, they were his sisters' favorites too.
The only people who suffered from Edwin's death were Elvira and Edith, twins did not understand why his disappearance was an "act of god".
Edwin said terrible things before learning to live in a society completely different from his own. Really bad things that sometimes made Charles stop and look at his friend in horror before explaining how bad what Edwin said was.
Once Edwin understood how evil and prejudiced he to be, he would spend the next few days ashamed of himself and apologizing to any minority he offended with his words.
All the slang he knows is thanks to Charles.
"Handjob", "Manage" and any other current word that refers to sex or libidinous acts are always strange to Edwin, not because he is innocent, just because his only companion for 30 years was Charles and Charles is a defender of the honor of his friend, so he would never say such vulgar obscenities in front of Edwin, mainly because he knows he will be questioned and will have to explain it to him.
Edwin was considered rare and valuable in hell, many demons wanted his soul because he didn't belong there, and this led to Edwin being used as a bargaining chip several times before ending up in the "Doll house".
His notebook was something he took from one of the rooms in the "Doll house" so the pages never run out, and he can always use the notebook even after almost 100 years with it.
His soul is very strong thanks to the amount of pain he suffered in hell, things that would hurt normal ghosts have done nothing to Edwin unless it is a much greater amount.
He is one of the few ghosts capable of using magic, as spells cause a lot of pain since they require excess spiritual energy.
In 1990 Charles got a record player, Edwin taught Charles dance moves and Charles taught him some. When they weren't playing board games for fun, they were dancing.
Explaining to Edwin how Michael Jackson turned white was the hardest thing Charles did in all his afterlife years.
Edwin allowed himself to wear a dress once, then Niko offered to wear a suit, they didn't most it to anyone, but they had fun together in a small parade.
Although they didn't get along well at first, Edwin and Crystal are friends, whenever she has a female problem, like menstrual cramps, he offers to get her cocaine. (She loves it!)
Only Crystal can speak ill of Edwin, she will destroy heaven and earth if anyone says anything about him.
Crystal, Edwin and Niko always have an all-girls party, sometimes Edwin uses his "Niko's Aunt" disguise to pretend to be the mother of one of the girls when they need it, for example, he once used this disguise to talk to a Crystal's teacher who claimed that she was cheating (she was), although he himself didn't approve of Crystal's cheating he made a big show of stating that he would bring down the whole school if the teacher didn't apologize to Crystal and admit that she deserved the A+.

Hi love
Can I have a request for pedro × reader?
Cutie and fluffy?
hello love! hope this might be what you're lookin' for...
lamp city (pedro pascal x gn/m!reader)

a/n: same vague universe as “marked.” drop a line if you have a sug. (:
summary: a friday night in the Pascal household.
————————————————————————
It’s muscle memory— the key with the orange rubber top makes a sticky turn in the lock on the door handle, shoes get toed off into a pile on the rubber mat, and then a slow ascent up the steep flight of stairs to the apartment. (Condo, really— tiny apartment building converted into a single-family residence. Rented and then purchased by Pedro over a decade before you knocked on his door.)
You take the stairs with the gait of a person twice your age; the week of work has wrung you out. With SNL wrapped for the season, you’d been writing on a new show for Comedy Central, but tight deadlines and a cramped production schedule have been kicking your ass. The crawl to Friday night now complete, you can’t help but yawn as you trudge upwards. Can’t even bring yourself to turn the hallway lights on.
On the second floor landing, a warm glow spills out from under the door. Faint laughter echoes from within.
It’s one of your favorite things about Pedro— the importance he places upon the relationships in his life. His schedule is grueling, pulling him from New York twice as often now as he’s actually home. Yet, the monthly dinner with his friends has held steady.
There is a cheer as you swing open the door. Just visible, at the other end of the long hall, several heads turn towards you in the living room.
“Hi, baby.” A salt-and-pepper head turns to grin at you, from over the back of the couch. You pad towards him in socked feet, feeling a little out of place in your work clothes; around the room, everyone is in sweats. Elvira and Oscar are on the loveseat. Sarah, fresh in from LA, lays across the armchair. Picked-over cartons from the Thai place down the block scatter the coffee table.
You lean over, pressing a quick kiss to Pedro’s temple as you sneakily reach for the container beside him. A large hand wraps around your wrist.
“Begone, thief. Your drunken noodles are in the fridge. ” He trades you a kiss on your pulse point before he releases you with dramatic flair. The moratorium on public affection does not extend to his friends, though neither of you go out of your way to be syrupy in front of company.
Light music is playing, something acoustic and tinny spinning on the turntable in the corner. All the lamps are on, but the overhead is off. ("Goddamn surgical light," Pedro usually gripes. It only ever gets turned on when he searches the couch cushions for his missing keys. Semi-regularly. Otherwise, lamp city.)
"There are edibles on the counter," Oscar supplies, with a flourish of his wrist. Quiet laughter ripples across the room.
“Mm. Knew there was a reason I came here.”
“Rude,” Sarah points with her chopsticks. “You knew I was gonna be here.”
You ignore her in favor of heading for the fridge. There is an unwrapped bar of chocolate on the kitchen island, off of which you break a square.
"Dogs been out?" Edgar has followed you into the kitchen, summoned by the sound of the fridge opening. His sister, your pre-Pedro companion, is still laying on his lap. (Her loyalty to you is dubious at best, now two years into the relationship.)
"Not since four," Pedro concedes.
"I'll walk 'em now and wait for this to kick in."
"No!"
He is now half-handing over the edge of the couch, cheek smushed against the back cushion. "Can you just come chill out for a minute? You just got home. Come sit."
No convincing needed. You carry your noodles to the couch, nudging the dog over so you can settle beside Pedro. He wastes no time in swinging his legs over yours, mismatched Happy Socks balanced on the tops of your thighs. It's a warm, familiar weight. Pedro is a touchy stoner— the combination of THC and the company of his friends, always seems to melt his ever-present anxiety away.
Chopsticks in hand, boyfriend in lap. 48 hours off work. A room full of friends and good music. Subconsciously, you rub your right thumb over the target-shaped soul mark on your left hand. Look over at the man it brought you to... high and cozy, disheveled in a way that makes your heart soar.
As if on cue, he reaches for your hand himself. Brings the mark to his lips, as he often does; light scruff tickles the inside of your wrist.
Oscar has launched into some story about a weird fan encounter at Trader Joes. The record has ended, but no one has moved to flip it over.
Not the worst way to spend a Friday.

Elvira from Dynamite Comics

I have been re-reading the Elvira, Mistress of the Dark comics from Dynamite Entertainment. If you've never spent any time with Elvira or if you're a long-time fan, I recommend these books. David Avallone has truly mastered what makes Elvira such a lasting character. The books are campy fun in much the same way Movie Macabre is. Elvira finds herself meeting horror legends like Mary Shelley, Edgar Allan Poe, Divine, and Lucifer. She faces challenges with her trademark irreverence. Dave Acosta's art is beautiful. I genuinely highly suggest all of Dynamite's Elvira comics.
Now I just need Dynamite to give us a nice deluxe hardcover of the series!

Honestly speaking, it’s so many extra characters to add in the Descendants verse.
I tend to look at the antagonist from the television shows, games, and abandoned characters. Alongside minor characters if I need a character on the “good” side.
Here are just a few scrapped characters:
Marguerite is a character who was deleted from the final version of Beauty and the Beast, and would have acted as the co-antagonist alongside Gaston.
Belle's Sisters were two characters who were deleted from the 1991 film Beauty and the Beast, and would have acted as co-antagonist with Belle's Suitors.
Belle's Suitors were three characters who were deleted from the 1988 screenplay of Beauty and the Beast, and would have had an antagonistic role, along with Belle's Sisters.
In one early concept of Aladdin, there was going to be a Genie in the Ring that would team up with Jafar.
Professor Lefoof was supposed to be Anastasia and Drizella's music teacher, until it was decided that it would simply be Lady Tremaine, who led her daughters' singing lesson.
Arawn was the original main antagonist for the film The Black Cauldron. However, he was replaced by the Horned King.
Elvira was a deleted character from The Aristocats. She was Madame Bonfamillie's maid who assisted Edgar in his scheme to get rid of the cats.
Mick, Bowie, and Lemmy were three mummies Who assisted Yzma and were considered the tertiary antagonists in Kingdom of the Sun, the working title of The Emperor's New Groove. Their names were taken from those of three famous rock stars: Mick Jagger, David Bowie, and Lemmy Kilmister. They were replaced with Kronk.
The Vulture is a character that was originally created for Sleeping Beauty but was deleted during the film's production. Originally, Maleficent was going to have a pet vulture, which was meant to serve as comic relief (very similar to Iago) and had a New York accent. However, because his role did not contribute much to the story and also somewhat detracted from that imposing nature of Maleficent, he was cut from the final version of the film. Despite this, there was dialogue written for the vulture and some rough sketches for the character.
Zoltan the Magnificent is a deleted character in Atlantis: The Lost Empire who was recruited aboard the Ulysses as a medium claiming to be able to communicate telepathically with the Atlanteans. He was intended as a counterpart to Milo and other more scientifically-minded members of the crew; however, he was cut from the final version of the movie.
