i will say one thing community writers did right by s6 jeff is the episode where he tries to befriend elroy. the way he rolls his eyes at the study group, telling them it’s no big deal if elroy doesn’t like them, and they shouldn’t be so obsessive over it, only to do a complete 180 when he realizes elroy might not like HIM. that is a quintessential example of his character to me. he likes to be in the position of the cool guy who doesn’t care, but the reality is that he is insecure and wants very much for the people around him to like him, even if he pretends he doesn’t

happy pride here’s some gay themed community headcanons
- (in a scenario where they’re dating) britta would bring jeff to pride and treat him like a dog when he inevitably tries to flirt with gay women. “jeff! no! i’m sorry he’s like this ugh :/“
- annie sees a butch at pride and immediately feels bad for thinking they’re hot because oh no! that’s a gay guy! he’ll never like her :-( only for troy to be like “that’s a girl.” and then she has to Question Things
- mtf abed.
- chang would go to pride with the dean and flirt with every single drag queen he sees— including the dean in drag.
- pierce would be surprisingly accepting of britta coming out as bisexual, proclaiming him guessing she was lesbian to be “close enough”. but then he’d ask way too many invasive questions for comfort
- troy and abed go to pride and see a gay couple that looks exactly like them. i just feel like this would be an end credits scene in an episode if dan harmon was brave enough
- shirley hates the idea of pride month but britta eventually convinces her that people will buy her desserts at pride so she caves in and makes way too overpriced rainbow cupcakes but offers people church referrals with them
- the main gang see frankie at pride with a woman and immediately freak out and assume it’s her girlfriend. they go down a whole rabbbithole until frankie stops them and tells them it’s her gay sister. they are all disappointed.
- elroy doesn’t know what a pride month is he’s too busy living in a cave underground and having the voice of an angel

ik ik we all want a trobed reunion for the movie. but like. shirley. frankie. elroy. i need them back too. i need frankie and elroy to meet shirley and troy and immediately realize some stuff about the study group. i need frankie to communicate with shirley about their motherly feelings towards annie and abed (and shirley's towards troy obviously).

just rewatched queer studies & advanced waxing and. i have so many thoughts about abeds plot here and i want to hear all of yours as well
like obviously when he goes “the mother won’t come back.” it’s fucking. fuck. but i’m just thinking about the end where he releases the bird and annie goes “you did it! you saved him” (or whatever she says) and it’s really abed saving himself isn’t it. it’s one of the final chapters of his mommy issues and it’s him keeping the bird alive after the mom leaves
but what i really wanted thoughts on was the end when the bird hops into another electrical box. did the writers just mean it as a joke? is it generational trauma? is it parents trying to do things differently, but not knowing anything other than what they grew up with? is it troy? the parallels between abed’s mom and troy are so heartbreaking, and is the bird in the electrical box abed trying to heal his abandonment issues with his mom by jumping into his relationship with troy which exacerbates them?
anyways danny pudi is such a good actor in this episode and always

When Elroy was like "some things are silly and evil, like candy cigarettes" and not a peep out of Abed about that? Was he thinking of his partner in candy cigarette consumption, Troy? Was he imagining the shock and betrayal on his face at candy cigarettes being called "evil"? I know I was

love how by the end of the show the only remaining characters from the og study group were the gay ones. like annie? definitely at least bisexual. jeff? also bi. abed? that mf had been doing premaritial hand holding with another man since season 1. and britta? i feel like a straight girl wouldn't be that open to kissing a girl, you know? and the we have the extra ones, like frankie who, in my mind, is aroace, but i've heard a lot of people with other opinions which i believe are all equally as plausible given how fague her line in queer studies and advanced waxing. then we have elroy. to me he has a lot of cw longbottom in mythic quest energy, so he's probably straight unless he sees a hot femboy.

do i think the community characters are ableist:
this is based off of things in-show and just my personal opinions feel free to disagree tho
pierce: do i even have to say it. yes.
elroy: nah elroy is chill as fuck i literally love him
abed: no, i feel like he would ask a lot of rlly blunt questions tho and some ppl might feel offended
britta: i love britta but she would push someone elses wheelchair in public and be like "look! im helping a DIFFERENTLY ABLED PERSON"
annie: i feel like she would be accidentally ableist (as opposed to pierce) but apologise profusely when someone tells her shes being ableist
shirley: uhh idk actually i dont think she would actually say anything ableist and she would say "ooh thats not nice :(" if someone else did but then she would pity disabled ppl
chang: bro idfk correct me if im wrong but i think chang is the only one in the show whos actually literally never said anything ableist, like hes so unhinged atp that he doesnt even know or care
duncan: um, no? idk, the only thing we really know about duncan is hes british and hot for britta (same) but i dont recall him ever being ableist (again, correct me if im wrong) so im gonna give him the benefit of the doubt
troy: season one troy? probably, he probably said some shit and made fun of some autistic kids lets be real, but my son has had so much character developement and he would never now, like abed tho i feel like he might ask a lot of questions that could maybe be a bit invasive
jeff: jeff is so interesting bcs i dont actually think hes like naturally ableist, he thinks hes better than disabled ppl but not bcs theyre disabled just bcs he thinks hes better than everyone. however he is aware of ppls disabilities and if they piss him off he will probably use them against them which is not cool, thumbs down
the dean: oof im not sure abt this one i feel like he would try to be inclusive but not really get there and end up using offensive terms and stuff without meaning to and he would be supportive on paper but ehen someone disabled actually was. dis abled. he would be like "omg disabled ppl 😨😨" (IM NOT OVER HIM CALLING ABED PSYCHO OK STFU)
frankie: hmmm heres the thing about frankie she says abed 'doesnt know any better' and she calls her sister mentally retarded but she helped abed rlly well in the flashbacks episode instead of. yk. slapping him in the face and saying "you try to get him to do anything normal without abusing him" (FUCK YOU JEFF) so im not sure, but i would go with no probably
idk if i missed anyone but i would love to hear anyone eles thoughts on this
oh my fucking god i forgot about buzz hickey, yes he hates autistic ppl real, his existence is a hate crime

Personally I'm rooting for Shirley or Abed, specifically Abed telling Jeff to fuck off at some point when he's being ableist

Having a little internal debate. In a story where Community characters are in the Wizard of Oz Annie would obviously be Dorothy, Troy would be the scarecrow who had more brains than he thought, and Abed would be the Tin man who always had the capacity to feel. Shirley has also already got a reference as Glinda. But I'm not completely sure who is the cowardly lion?
Jeff, perhaps? But he *thinks* he has more confidence than he actually does, so that doesn't quite work. Peirce again thinks he is more brave than he actually is. He seems like the kind of guy to have a flying monkey army, anyway. He works well as a villain. Britta's issues don't really have anything to do with bravery, but it would mean that everyone in the story is a Flat 303 resident.
The dean could work, he has the gay coding, but by any real logic would be the wizard who is running the whole place with more pizzaz than substance. Chang is many things, but not afraid, more fear and shame would probably do him some good. Then who? Garett? Neil? They aren't big enough characters to justify such a big role. Later entries such as Frankie and Elroy or Hickey also don't have any courage based issues. Duncan, perhaps??? He's technically part of the group at one point, but that doesn't feel right as one of three characters important to Annie/Dorothy. So who else is important to Annie? Vaughan? He's more scarecrow material and Troy already fills that out well.
