What always intrigued me about the storyline with a romanced Solas is that Lavellan was so close to finding out the truth.

She must have had some suspicions before, but she never pushed him for the truth. She gave him time to open up on his own terms, to share when he was ready, which we know he almost did in Crestwood.

I wonder about the demons he fought in his head, the times duty came before love, while at the same time she made him question everything.

Such a tragic lovestory and no I’m still not over it it. :(

It is not a palette I normally use, and I had fun in experimenting on more pastel, dawn-like colours, and with a more romantic and girly dress than I normally would, and it was fun to draw something new and so wholesome. And, got the chance to draw Garrett who'd just decide that a hug was overdue.

More Mava!

The inquisitor is known for taking 5 minute power naps standing up and then just GOING for days. How she’s still functional is a mystery.

My character ramblings below the cut.

For the most part Mava and Solas get along well and on the topic of the fade the two chat all the time. Mava admires his knowledge of magic as well of his painting skills which she secretly finds most impressive. She comes to him for any magic advice first and quietly learns through the conversation he has with Dorian and Vivianne. That being said if Solas starts trashing the Dalish Mava will argue with him ALL DAY annoying anyone within earshot and each other. She also doesn’t completely trust him, his lack of history too suspicious to ignore.

Mava has a certain affection for Cole. She finds the boy endearing and takes him out often, encouraging him to talk with their companions. His existence between spirit and human fascinates her. After specializing in the way of the rift mage she felt even more comfortable with him as he sees the responsibility she has on her shoulders. She comes to him to hear gossip, the inane unimportant kind. A hold over of when she used to eavesdrop as a child that developed into a sort of guilty pleasure. Mava also enjoys when she hears other’s talk of his gentle presence, even if they don’t know it. It makes her oddly proud and she sees him as a little brother.

Mava’s relationship to her commander is… complicated. Mava was initially evasive towards Cullen, a human ex-templar is not exactly comforting to a Dalish mage. The two were polite but not close, though Mava appreciated his banter with her other advisors. Things became unavoidable when Mava allowed the Mage rebellion to join the Inquisition as equals, a choice that she worried might make him, and some others of the inquisition grow angry or even leave. Cullen’s support despite him disagreeing made Mava respect him and the two found they had more in common then they once thought. Mava can see the weight he puts on himself and finds comfort in someone who understands her and checks in. His stories of this family reminds her of her own and the two grow to appreciate each other’s company despite their disagreements. Though Cullen’s love of the game chess will forever allude her.

Inspired by a post @pinayelf did of her oc Immy's children with Cullen!!

In terms of children I think Calliope and Dorian may have more in the future but as of the end of Jaws of Hakkon they welcome little Athim into the world! Calliope had no idea they were pregnant/it was a cryptic pregnancy and y'know the stress just had their water breaking. It's fine.

Athim Pavus is a very sweet child who takes after their Papae in being a very reactionary and emotional mage. It's a bit dangerous raising a half elven baby in Tevinter but it is FOR SURE extra dangerous raising a reactionary dreamer mage who's going through his terrible two's. Like both of his father's he's very adept at fire magic and it actually soothes him when he's quite young because he has a hard time regulating his body temperature (Autism Things TM). So once he manages to NOT burn his fingertips he uses small fire spells to warm himself back up during colder nights in Kirkwall and Minrathous. At a young age his parents do realize that he's a Dreamer Mage though, and seek help to make sure he isn't targeted by anything out in the Fade (Solas, and other things I can't mention without spoiling my fic but you get the idea). Eventually Calliope settles on teaching him what they learned through Vivienne during Inquisition and in turn he becomes a formidable Knight Enchanter when he's older, opting to use a greatsword/Reaver like attacks like his Papae. I think he does incorporate things like Walking Bomb from the Necromancer subclass that he's learned from Dorian as well. Anything he gets from that side of things though are meant to bolster his intimidation tactics on the battle field.

The Fall of Arlathan- Chapter 9

A big double-sized (12k words help) chapter of this Solavellan fic, the sequel to my old Schooling Pride. Yes, it exists. I need to actually put them in a series on AO3- i'll try to remember to do that later.

...

“Don’t turn this around on me,” Ellie scolded Solas, not wanting to hear a lecture about how she should keep being a sucker.

He smiled, chagrined, the edges of his eyes crinkling.  His gaze became uncomfortable, but his voice remained even as she glanced away awkwardly.�� “If you insist.  But never forget that your kindness was my salvation.”

She brushed that off because she didn’t have the cope.  “Yeah, well…we’ve never had a fight like this before.  He’d cross lines, I’d draw a boundary clearly, and we’d move on.”  Ellie couldn’t find it in her to lie right now.  “And then he’d cross it again.  I just– I thought I was helping him.  He did get better in a lot of ways, but I got arrogant, Solas.  And– and he needed me.”

His denial was quiet, but firm.  “He does not need you. He is possessive.  Those are very different things.”

Ugh, of course he was going to make this entirely about Falon’din and excuse her completely.

Of course.

“No, I mean…I liked that he did,” she admitted firmly, staring at her hands.  “I encouraged it.  When I realized it I tried to wean him off of depending so much on me, but the damage was done.  It was just…from the moment– this is kind of too much to say.”

“I would rather you did,” Solas said quietly.

“I know.  That’s part of what makes it so hard.  I wish you had better boundaries around me,” she muttered.

His voice was low and calm.  “Better?  No.  My boundaries remain intact, very far from any landscape you have yet to wander across.  Explore as you like.”

“Pain,” she muttered, wishing he didn’t make it so easy to talk to him.  That he didn’t feel like a portent, a thing hovering over her ready to drag her back down to those old, painful depths.  “Ever since, Solas, you left…it was like my brain got fixated on people leaving me.  First it was you, then Sebastian, then Cass, a lot of other people…and my mom died like a month after Wren was born.”  She paused, steeled herself.  “He needed me.”  

Ellie exhaled roughly, trying to keep her voice under control, her body.  But it was hard, she could feel herself starting to get tense, trembling.  “He wasn’t going to–”  

Leave me.

She swallowed those words before they could trip up her tongue, her nerves already strained by stress.  Ellie steeled herself and continued.  “No matter what I did he kept coming back.  And I could help him, like I couldn’t...”

It was like bile in her throat, bitter and unwelcome.

“Ellana…”

She sniffed and wiped her eyes impatiently, hating the weakness.  “Tears are just tears, they don’t mean anything.  Listen…I unpacked this all a while ago; this isn’t new, Solas.  I have a really good therapist.  When I go.  It’s just…I figured, hey, I’m helping someone.  Even if it’s a coping thing, it’s not bad, right?”

“Does Falon’din know how you feel?”  Solas asked, smiling sadly at the disbelieving look she gave him.  “Yes, it sounds as if that would be unwise.”

“He hates you enough,” she said quietly.

Cylas was born in Tevinter to slave parents, his mother escaped with him and his older brother when he was 2 years old, fleeing to Denerim's alienage. His magic manifested when he was 7, though his family was able to hide it until he was 8 and he was exposed. He didn't have a great time in the Circle, but he was a diligent student, making his own T supplement, and had a Plan for when he was a full fledged Mage. Joining the Wardens was bittersweet for him, but he was much happier with the freedom.

Aedan was a hunter and helped the Keeper with Elven history. He was averse to being the Herald, but took being Inquisitor in stride, hoping to bring elves a more positive reputation. He had a sister, Leila, who I sometimes switch his place with in my head with a similar story. They are cousins of Tab and Auri.

I have other Inquisitors but ah.... I don't really care about them lol
