Kaysha Wallace Bio (General)
This is a generic bio of my TMNT OC which applies to the continuities she's in. Which I rushed in time for her b-day! 💖💖💖
Full Name: Kaysha Cheyenne Wallace
Age: Depends on continuity, usually between ages of 16 ~ 21 years
Birthday: Feb. 14
Species: Human
Fandom: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (multimedia)
Voice Claims: Depends, but head-canon Amber Riley for Rise, Cree Summers for 1987, Kimberly Brooks for 2007 version, and Aisha/Layla's 4kids dub actor for 2003 version
Character: Friend and ally to the Hamato clan; love interest to Leo.
Powers/Abilities: Martial Artist, stealth and spying; mastery at tessen fighting and close range
Items: War Fans, tanto, kunai, kimono (courting gift from Leo)
Relationships
Family: Mr. & Mrs. Wallace (parents, alive), Rashean and Devon (younger brothers, 7 to 12 years range)
Friends: The Turtles, April O'Neill, Casey Jones
Acquaintances: Usagi Yojimbo, Mona Lisa, Tenet, varies by continuity
Enemies: Purple Dragons, Foot Clan, The Shredder, Kraang, most enemies of the Hamato
Love Interest: Leo is considered her primary love interest as he's the turtle I tend to ship her with. Originally was going to be with Raph but I felt like Leo needed someone that could connect with him on a personal intimate level and it all spiraled from there. Their ship name is Cotton Candy Ninjas!
Appearance
- Body type and height varies by actress/art style, but she is typically portrayed as a African American female
- Brown skin (medium-dark tones); curly-kinky hair worn in protective styles.
- Pink is the dominant color in her wardrobe; tends to wear trendy fashions
- Her ninja suits tend to be dark shades of red/maroon-pink with lighter pink accents and a belt for equipment
- Exception: In Rottmnt her main outfit is a pink kimono-styled suit with light blue and pink accents
- Pink sash/belt and domino mask
- Blue and jade colored kimono
Personality
Most iterations of Kaysha depicts her as a bubbly and passionate young woman. Her biggest flaws can be her hidden insecurities and tendencies to be a drama queen. She can also get frustrated easily if things don't go her way. Later on, she becomes more patient and brave, learning to keep herself levelheaded on missions and real world. A true romanticist at heart, Kaysha always tries her best to see the positive side of things. She has a thing for "shipping" people and encourages folks to find their true love. Not much can bring her down.
Abilities
In every continuity she's in, Kaysha does not develop superpowers. This leaves her with normal human weaknesses and limitations.
Her preferred weapons are bladed war fans and tanto, and she is adept at close range. She lacks long range and is not a fast agile fighter, so she relies on quick thinking, stealth and evasion tactics.
Another skill she possesses is using her knowledge of fashion to create intricate disguises. This is especially helpful in undercover missions. Her friendly demeanor allows her to communicate with allies easily.
Backstory: Her backstory involves her being a vocal opponent of the Purple Dragons, unwilling to see her brothers fall victim to gang violence. Due to the nature of the franchise the exact story of how she met the turtles changes. Typically, she would meet them either completely on accident or they save her from a bad guy and her curiosity gets the better of her and she goes to look for her mysterious rescuers.
Trivia
- She doesn't trust hair salons
- Kaysha is a fan of baseball, even thought of giving her a bat as a mean weapon but I didn't want to copy Casey's schtick
- Kaysha never turns into a mutant, I don't want to change a fundamental part of her character
- In Bayverse Kaysha is a blogger who highlights urban legends and cryptids
- 2003!Kaysha appears in s1 but does not know about the turtles yet. She does find out in season 2, which later kicks off her arc of becoming a kunoichi
- 2007!Kaysha knew about Raph being the Nightwatcher; while fearing for his safety she also knew the city needed protectors and kept this secret from Leo.
- 2012!Kaysha is by far the youngest at around 14 years old; most others are 17/18 depending on the Turtles's age range
- She is said to be a great singer
- Character Inspo: Belle (Beauty in the Beast), Elle Woods (Legally Blonde), Mai Shiranui (Fatal Fury), Mulan (Disney version), Stella (Winx Club), Stella Monroe (Rainbow High), Mercedes(Glee) and Mary Jane Watson (Spider-Man series)
- Originally she was going to wield a katana to match up with Leo before I decided to give her a personal weapon
- She was also going to be the long range fighter but a found a lot of girl characters have long range/arrows so Kaysha has a melee weapon
- The Tessen idea came from the 2012 meaning; the significance for Kaysha's tessens is her confidence and comfort in her battle style
- Rise!Kaysha uses hearts in her design (shoulders, face shape, earrings)
- 87!Kaysha is a roommate of Mona Lisa and not paired with Leo
- Kaysha was written to be a love interest for Raph before I switched him with Leo
- Her original color was cyan/light green because she was something of a replacement to Venus de Milo

Here’s how ‘La La Land’ will tie the record for most Academy Awards
Our prediction: 'La La Land' will walk off at magic hour with 11 Oscars.
Image: Lionsgate
Here’s a question for ones who dream: Why are Oscar records made?
La La Land, nominated for 14 Academy Awards, isn’t likely to break the Oscars record of 11 wins by a single film, shared by Titanic (1997), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), and Ben-Hur (1959). That record might not be made to be broken this year but it can be tied.
A bit of madness is indeed key to this prediction for the 89th Academy Awards: La La Land will join those hallowed films in sharing the record by going to 11.
SEE ALSO: Recut version of ‘La La Land’ directed by David Lynch looks more like a suspense thriller
For one thing, it’s got sheer numbers. La La Land‘s 14 nominations were a record of their own; only All About Eve (1950) and Titanic have ever come up for that many. Then there’s the record seven Golden Globe wins, a clean sweep that hardly anyone saw coming.
People who love La La Land really, really love La La Land
The bitter backlash to La La Land that’s been building for weeks doesn’t stand a chance against the bulwark of passion for writer/director Damien Chazelle’s modern-yet-throwbacky musical. This is no “safe” or “consensus” winner. People who love La La Land really, really love La La Land.
That kind of devotion means lots of first-place votes and straight-ticket check-offs through the more technical categories.
Two of La La Land‘s nominations are in the same category best original songmeaning the most it could win is 13. But it won’t, because there are two categories where it just doesn’t have the goods: Best Actor (Ryan Gosling) and Best Original Screenplay (Chazelle).
Gosling’s Seb is a career-making charm-a-thon, but it can’t hang in this category, which will go to Denzel Washington for Fences. That much-deserved win will be seen by some as an upset of early front-runner Casey Affleck, whose performance in Manchester by the Sea was a master class in subtlety. But his chances flagged after civil sexual harassment lawsuits that he settled in 2010 were first resurfaced (by Mashable) in September.
Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester screenplay, meanwhile, was upset by Chazelle at the Globes, but that won’t happen on Sunday. La La Land lines will be celebrated and quoted for decades to come, but Academy voters like a big ladle of gravitas on their original scripts.
That leaves 11 nominations for La La Land to convert.
And here they are, ordered from most difficult to least:
11. Sound Editing
Play the set, Seb.
Image: Lionsgate
The contenders: Sully, Hacksaw Ridge, Deep Water Horizon, Arrival
Why La La wins: This category awards the creation and design of sound effects, ambient noise, and yes, to some degree, music but it’s often weighted toward degree-of-difficulty. Hacksaw Ridge creates a war zone and Arrival creates an alien language, making this a perilous category for La La Land. But its jewel-toned musical cues will keep fans in line here, and that should be enough.
10. Sound Mixing
Hear that?
Image: Lionsgate
The contenders: Arrival, Hacksaw Ridge, Rogue One, 13 Hours Why La La wins: This category is for the final post-production blend, which a mixer finesses from the creations of the sound editor. La La Land wins for the exact reasons mentioned above.
9. Cinematography
Just another few minutes of sun.
Image: lionsgate
The contenders: Arrival, Lion, Moonlight, Silence Why La La wins: It’ll be close. Linus Sandgren’s camera twirls and dances right along with Seb and Mia, exploring spaces and whip-panning with big payoffs but there are some odd out-of-focus moments and barely-correctible darkness issues in the now-famed opening sequence. But this category is typically awarded to the most noticeable and risk-taking work. Advantage: La La Land.
8. Costume Design
Keith’s turtleneck alone should seal this.
Image: Lionsgate
The contenders: Allied, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Florence Foster Jenkins, Jackie Why La La wins: Jackie is favored by some for this category, but let’s face it: you remember Jackie O’s outfits because of Jackie O Jackie is a recreation. You remember Mia’s yellow dress and Seb’s black-on-white wingtips because those were cool choices.
7. Film Editing
“I want to edit ‘Chicken on a Stick'”
Image: Lionsgate
The contenders: Arrival, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Moonlight Why La La wins: Moonlight is a major threat here; Barry Jenkins’ lovely tryptich could have been choppy or jarring in the wrong hands, but instead the three stages of life it depicts feel somehow like a flowing memory. La La pulls this out for degree of difficulty and old-school, hand-made marriage of music and indelible images.
6. Production Design
Don’t try this at rush hour.
Image: Lionsgate
The contenders: Arrival, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Hail, Caesar!, Passengers Why La La wins: Um. One of the contenders is Passengers. And every shot of La La Land is like a valentine to Los Angeles. You know, where Academy members live.
5. Best Actress
Emma traces it all back to then.
Image: Lionsgate
The contenders: Isabelle Huppert, Elle; Ruth Negga, Loving; Natalie Portman, Jackie; Meryl Streep, Florence Foster Jenkins Why Emma Stone wins: Gosling might’ve held up his end of the bargain with competition this weak. Huppert has a support base, but as someone recently said, “the Academy loves ingenues.” Do they ever.
4. Best Director
And that’s where he’ll spill coffee all over your shirt …
Image: Lionsgate
The contenders: Denis Villeneuve, Arrival; Mel Gibson, Hacksaw Ridge; Kenneth Lonergan, Manchester By The Sea; Barry Jenkins, Moonlight Why Chazelle wins: Jenkins is considered a threat and he should be. But … pishy-caca. Chazelle took the Director’s Guild Award and this award is firmly his to lose. And that’s a great thing! As one inspiringly hopeful Oscar observer (and Jenkins backer) told me: “I’m thinking of this as Game 1 between Barry and Damien in a 7-game series. Damien will probably pull it out even without playing the best game.” Sounds like the start of something wonderful and new, no?
3. Original Song
Image: Lionsgate
The contenders: “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” Trolls; “The Empty Chair,” Jim: The James Foley Story; “How Far I’ll Go,” Moana Why La La wins: “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)” and “City of Stars” are competing against one another here, but no matter: “City of Stars” will prevail it serves as the film’s de facto theme and is one point a duet. Sorry Lin-Manuel Miranda, but that EGOT will have to wait.
2. Original Score
You thinking what I’m thinking? Fly up there, right?
Image: Lionsgate
The contenders: Jackie, Lion, Moonlight, Passengers Why La La wins: Please. Passengers? Corniest score of the year. Jackie was scored like an irritating horror film. And at last check, Lion and Moonlight were not already-beloved musicals. Which leads us to the biggest slam-dunk of them all:
1. Best Picture
Your best picture: “La La Land”
Image: Lionsgate
The contenders: Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Lion, Manchester by the Sea, Moonlight, Hidden Figures Why La La wins: This one’s in the bag. Enjoy the show!
BONUS: Oscars contender ‘La La Land’ gets an old school video game treatment

Oscars Predictions and Opinions
I’m back again to tell you what I think of the Oscar nominations even though I don’t really know a great deal about the history or precess of the Oscars... However, I have seen a great deal of the following films so I do feel very in the loop this year! So let’s go...
Best Picture
Arrival Not for me but people love it don’t they. I was a bit bored even though I was impressed with the concept. I’m not really a heavy sci-fi person so you know. I don’t think the Oscars care for sci-fi enough either so I doubt it will win. Fences I don’t think Fences is strong enough to win here. It’s a perfectly great drama with some wonderful performances but it hasn’t got what it takes to win the top award. Hacksaw Ridge Even though I loved this, I don’t get the feeling it will win Best Picture. It’s a wonderful film though and I hope it doesn’t go home completely empty handed. Hell or High Water I sort of don’t understand why this film is here. I enjoyed it but I’m not sure what was special about it. Maybe that doesn’t matter. There’s a nice brotherly relationship and good score. Well done for getting the nomination.
Hidden Figures I really liked this film more than I expected to. It’s fun, educational and important. I can’t see it winning as it lacks that vital punch. La La Land - MY PREDICTION The obvious winner here! Although I don’t expect La La Land to win most of the awards it’s nominated for, I do think it will win the top award. It’s a film all about Hollywood, why wouldn’t the Academy want it to win? Also it’s got the most nominations out of anybody which is as good an argument as any for it to win Best Picture. Lion I very much enjoyed Lion. I think the first half in particular is superb and the whole story in general is very moving. I’d say this in the top half of being likely to win but La La Land is hard to beat. Manchester by the Sea - MY PERSONAL CHOICE Another one I’d say is likely to win if La La Land fails. I would actually choose this one as the winner myself. It’s definitely been my favourite of all the Oscars films I’ve seen. It’s dark, moving, beautiful and funny. Wonderful stuff. Moonlight Moonlight would be my personal second choice, a fraction behind Manchester By The Sea. I would also say it’s the second most likely to win behind La La Land and I’d absolutely love to see that happen.
Best Director
Denis Villeneuve, Arrival Now this is where I don’t have a clue as I’m still not hugely sure what to look out for when judging someone’s directing skills. I’d say Arrival isn’t likely to win any of the big awards so I’m saying no to our Denis here. Mel Gibson, Hacksaw Ridge You can’t give an Oscar to Gibson can you. He’s not allowed. Lovely war scenes though mate. Damien Chazelle, La La Land It’s very common for the Best Picture winner to also get Best Director isn’t it. But I’m going to make a completely arbitrary prediction and say Damien isn’t going to win this one. Shocking I know. I think he might be too young. Kenneth Lonergan, Manchester by the Sea - MY PREDICTION Well he won the BAFTA so that help me here but also it’s a wonderful film and I’m sure old Kenneth here had a lot to do with that.  Barry Jenkins, Moonlight - MY PERSONAL CHOICE I don’t really know what I’m talking about but as Kenneth won the BAFTA, I would love to see Barry Jenkins get something for this wonderful film. It’s so beautiful.
Actor in a Leading Role
Casey Affleck, Manchester by the Sea - MY PREDICTION AND PERSONAL CHOICE I think he should win and he will win. His performance is just too noticeable. It’s something you leave the film thinking about whereas the others don’t quote impress you enough. He’s been given a wonderful character to play and he plays him incredibly well.   Andrew Garfield, Hacksaw Ridge He is absolutely wonderful in this film and I wouldn’t mind at all if he won. He’d very much deserve it. Ryan Gosling, La La Land This would be silly. He’s great in this film but he doesn’t really do a whole lot of acting. Viggo Mortensen, Captain Fantastic I liked this film a lot. It’s very moving and feel good and Viggo is pretty great in it. He plays a loveable dysfunctional dad who you’re rooting for but at the same time sort of hope he’ll stop being so bloody minded. Really nice for him to get a nomination for this sort of film as I’m sure it wasn’t expected. Denzel Washington, Fences He’s obviously brilliant in this but I’d say there are stronger contenders here.
Actress in a Leading Role
Isabelle Huppert, Elle This film is very odd. I’m still not sure what I think about it. I suppose she is very good in it but I doubt she’ll win. Ruth Negga, Loving A lovely film that lacked a certain something which is why I’d guess it didn’t get as many nominations as first expected. I wouldn’t say her character is memorable enough to win. Natalie Portman, Jackie - MY PERSONAL CHOICE (probably) I still haven’t seen Jackie yet but apparently it’s wonderful and I’m going to take a punt and say she’s my choice for winner even though I haven’t seen it. Hahaha. I am the best. Emma Stone, La La Land - MY PREDICTION I think Emma Stone will follow her Golden Globe and BAFTA with an Oscar. She really does do a fantastic job in La La Land and she might also be my own choice if it turns out I don’t enjoy Jackie. Meryl Streep, Florence Foster Jenkins An interesting nomination. People love Streep don’t they! I love her also but this film wasn’t that great really. I thought it was perfectly enjoyable but there wasn’t much to it. Meryl is obviously wonderful in it but there’s all a bit too much of her horrible singing, it started to annoy me. Which was the point... but still.
Actress in a Supporting Role
Viola Davis, Fences - MY PREDICTION AND PERSONAL CHOICE We really might as well stop here to be honest. The likelihood of anyone else winning this is so small. She deserves it for such a memorably brilliant performance. Possibly the best performance of everyone. Naomie Harris, Moonlight She does a great job of playing an incredibly unlikeable mother but then keeping that tiny glint in her eye that makes you feel for her. Nicole Kidman, Lion I don’t think this performance deserves much of an award. I guess she did some good acting but I found the character quite wet. Octavia Spencer, Hidden Figures Oh how wonderful that she got a nomination. She played Dorothy so well and was such a delightful presence on screen. Michelle Williams, Manchester by the Sea I don’t think this would be particularly deserve. Obviously I loved the film but I wouldn’t say she stood out particularly. Also it’s a shame she has the same name as Michelle from Destiny’s Child. Poor Michelle already had enough to deal with without someone with the same name becoming more famous.
Actor in a Supporting Role
Mahershala Ali, Moonlight Again, I loved this film but I’m not sure he does quite enough to warrant this win.
Jeff Bridges, Hell or High Water - MY PREDICTION He’s certainly the best actor in this film but he mostly just plays a classic sheriff. He does it very well but that’s all it is. I’ve taken a punt and predicted he’ll win as this might be the most difficult category to call.
Lucas Hedges, Manchester by the Sea - MY PERSONAL CHOICE I loved the double act between him and Casey. I would say they are both what made the film so wonderful and I’d love to see both of them win.
Dev Patel, Lion I can’t see Dev winning an Oscar for this even though he won the BAFTA. As I said, the first half of the film is the better half and that’s the half without Dev in it.  Michael Shannon, Nocturnal Animals I really liked this film and he’s great in it. I just can’t help wishing my beautiful Aaron Taylor Johnson was nominated. He got a Golden Globe so I guess it’s nice for somebody else to get a nomination but I can’t see Shannon winning.
Animated Feature Film
Kubo and the Two Strings - MY PREDICTION AND PERSONAL CHOICE I really enjoyed this film. It’s a very impressive work of art. It looks so amazing and is probably the best stop motion animation I’ve ever seen. That along with a moving and brave storyline really should make it the winner. Moana This is a perfectly great Disney film. I liked it more than I expected to but it’s no Kubo. My Life as a Zucchini I haven’t seen this film as I just couldn’t quite get round to seeing all the cartoons. I am impressed that a film with this title has been nominated though. The Red Turtle I tried to watch this film last night but fell asleep three times. It’s not got any dialouge you see. Well, the first half an hour hasn’t anyway... Maybe he starts speaking in the end? It’s animated in a pretty and old school way but ultimately I was quite bored. ZootopiaI also haven’t seen this either but I’m told it’s brilliant. It’s the bookies favourite to win the Oscar but I think Kubo will beat it.So there you have it! My thoughts on the main seven awards. I can’t be bothered to go into Screenplay and stuff as I’ll just be saying the same things seeing as it’s all the same films again and again!

Latest story from https://movietvtechgeeks.com/donald-trump-loomed-golden-globes-la-la-lands-glory/
Donald Trump loomed over Golden Globes and 'La La Land's' glory
Donald Trump knew that he’d be the subject of a few speeches at the 2017 Golden Globes, so he obviously watched and responded on his trust Twitter after Meryl Streep gave a powerful, graceful and expected acceptance for her Cecil B. DeMille Award.
Streep was very to the point, and you could hear a pin drop during this, but it was one of those speeches that played to the room, but sadly won’t have the impact we would hope for. Trump supporters only dig in further while Trump continues playing victim of the ‘dishonest media’ and ‘liberal Hollywood’ types. The sunny musical “La La Land” may have danced its way to a Golden Globes record Sunday night, but the film’s seven accolades were a mere sideshow to the eloquence of honoree Meryl Streep, whose speech encapsulated the evening’s prevailing themes of hope, inclusivity and action over anger about the imminent presidency of Donald Trump.
“You and all of us in this room really belong to the most vilified segments in American society right now,” Streep said. “Think about it, Hollywood, foreigners, and the press.”
Without even mentioning Trump by name, Streep, in accepting the year’s Cecil B. DeMille Award, eviscerated the President-elect’s use of his power and rank in the mocking of a disabled New York Times reporter on the campaign trail this year.
“When the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose,” Streep said, imploring those in the room to remember “the privilege and the responsibility of the act of empathy” and also the vital role of the press in holding “power to account.”
On Twitter early Monday, Trump again denied mocking the reporter and took shots of his own at Streep, calling her “one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood” and “a Hillary flunky who lost big.”
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/818419002548568064
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/818421066859167746
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/818422930157830144
Streep’s speech was the kind of show-stopping moment that could make an audience forget that they’re watching what is generally a booze-soaked, star-studded party of irreverence and a few inevitable left-field winners in the annual Awards season stop on the way to the Oscars. The only true shocker there was Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s supporting actor win for his performance in Tom Ford’s “Nocturnal Animals” over favorites Mahershala Ali from “Moonlight” and Jeff Bridges from “Hell or High Water.”
As expected the joyous Los Angeles-set musical “La La Land” swept the awards, winning all of its leading seven nominations including
Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling and Damien Chazelle all spoke of the film’s hopeful message of pursuing dreams despite obstacles. The escapism of “La La Land” was contrasted with the realism of Barry Jenkins’ coming-of-age drama “Moonlight,” which won its only award of the night for best motion picture drama, possibly foreshadowing an ideological showdown between the two very different films at the Oscars, whose nominations are announced on Jan. 24.
While “Moonlight” didn’t shine as brightly as expected at the Globes, just one year after a second-straight season of OscarsSoWhite protests, the night was notable for the widespread diversity of its winners, in film and TV. Donald Glover’s “Atlanta” won best comedy series over heavyweights like “Veep” and “Transparent” and later added best actor in a comedy.
“I really want to thank Atlanta and all the black folks in Atlanta,” said a stunned-looking Glover.
Tracee Ellis Ross, accepting the award for best actress in a TV comedy for “Black-ish,” dedicated her award to “all of the women of color and colorful people whose stories, ideas, thoughts are not always considered worthy and valid and important.”
“I want you to know that I see you, we see you,” said Ross, who was the first black woman to win in the category since Debbie Allen in 1982.
Viola Davis, who won the best supporting actress award for Denzel Washington’s adaptation of August Wilson’s “Fences,” said that Wilson’s words and subjects were so important to her because “very seldom does the average person get their due, especially people of color.”
Davis continued what appears to be a certain path to the Oscar. Another favorite, Casey Affleck, also padded his favorite status. The “Manchester by the Sea” star took best actor.
While there were milestones and progress to be celebrated, Trump loomed nonetheless, even if explicit remarks during the show were kept somewhat to a minimum, save for host Jimmy Fallon, who was criticized for his allegedly softball interview of Trump on “The Tonight Show,” and Hugh Laurie. Fallon, in his opening monologue, compared the president elect to the belligerent teenage king Joffrey of “Games of Thrones.” Laurie, accepting for “The Night Manager,” said “I accept this award on behalf of psychopathic billionaires everywhere.”
Backstage, however, was a different story. Davis, for one, wondered what Trump’s Presidency says about Americans.
“There is no way that we can have anyone in office who is not an extension of our own belief system,” Davis said. “What does that say about us? I think if you can answer that question, it says it all.”
Dutch director Paul Verhoeven, whose controversial “Elle” won best foreign language film and a best actress in a drama award for star Isabelle Huppert, said that he’s very scared for the presidency.
Janelle Monae, who co-stars in “Moonlight” and “Hidden Figures” also said that while “anybody who is representing hate is part of the problem” she hoped that at the end of the day, we can all remember that we all bleed the same color.”
In an evening of such inclusiveness, there was a glaring flub made twice on Sunday that had nothing to do with a malfunctioning teleprompter. Both red carpet reporter Jenna Bush Hager and then Michael Keaton during the show both mistakenly called the NASA film “Hidden Figures,” ”Hidden Fences.” It quickly became a popular, if dismaying, joke on social media.
In television, as expected, “The People v. O.J. Simpson” took best miniseries, as well as an award for Sarah Paulson. And Netflix’s Elizabeth II series “The Crown” won both best drama series and best actress in a drama series for Claire Foy.
The ceremony included a memorial reel, which was added following the recent deaths of Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher, who were laid to rest Friday in Los Angeles. Streep quoted the latter to end her speech.
Quoting Fisher, Streep said: “Take your broken heart, make it into art.”

I found out that when someone loves you, like really loves you, no matter what you do, no matter how many stupid mistakes you make or shitty things you say, it sets you free. ― Elle Casey, Portal Guardians
