Reeeeeeeev! Question about Sparrow!
Who did her tattoo that was on her back? Those mountains and how long does it take for them to make that?
It's BIG I can see that and I've never seen any tattoo artist can go THAT lit!
Hi TAROOOO!!🧡🧡✨
This is a really interesting question!
Sparrow's back tattoo has a really important meaning for her. It represents her love for the mountains, you already know that climbing is everything for her. She shared that tattoo with her big brother Nathan. They are both climbers and they always climb together.
(not me staring at those muscles again 👀)
It was done by her little sister Elisabeth, she's a tattoo artist who's currently working in Berlin. All the Clayton siblings have a tattoo related to the mountains, they grew up there and it represents all their childhood (Sparrow's and Nathan's are the most impressive ones. Elisabeth's and Connor's are smaller).
This tattoo was inspired by the person who inspired me to create Sparrow! It's a really famous Nepalese climber called Nirmal Purja, who has a similar tattoo in the back.
Now answering your question... I worked in a tattoo shop as an illustrator for a few months last year, and I saw people getting tattooed designs like this, with pieces of that size and complexity. And it depends a lot on the pain tolerance and the detail of the tattoo. But usually it can be about three or four days, depending on the speed of the tattoo artist. Each session can be 12 hours.
Tattoos like this are rare, they are painful, expensive and you have to be getting tattooed for several days. So usually they are done by experienced tattoo artists or specialized tattoo artists, like they only tattoo big pieces in realistic style.
Thank you so much for this ask love!! I love talking about these small details about my ocs.
Hope you have a great day! LOVE YA! MWAH! 🧡🧡✨

Doctor Brown was sent back into the old west to the year 1885 when the time machine he was in was struck by lightening. Brown was enjoying the simpler life, although that didn’t stop him from inventing things to make his life easier and was surprised when Marty McFly, his friend from the future, showed up. Marty explained he had come back to rescue the Doc from being murdered in this past. (Back to the Future III, Flm)

Those in italics have five or more pieces of usable visual, written, or audio propaganda already. If you have any visuals like photos or videos, or if you have something to say in words, submit it to this blog before round one begins on June 25th!
If you don't see a name you submitted here, it's because most or all of their career was as a child/they were too young for the cutoff, their career was almost entirely after 1979, or music was something they only dabbled in and are hardly known for. There are quite a few ladies on the list whose primary career wasn't "recording artist" or "live musician," but released several albums or were in musical theater, so they've been accepted.
#long post#miss billboard tourney#i wasn't originally going to list them all but i decided to do so because there are so many without propaganda

“The Desires Of My Heart”
“I had been praying for something I wanted very badly. It seemed a good thing to have, a thing that would make life even more pleasant than it was and would not in any way hinder my work. God did not give it to me. Why? I do not know all of His reasons, of course. The God who orchestrates the universe has a good many things to consider that have not occurred to me, and it is well that I leave them to Him. But one thing I do understand: He offers me holiness at the price of relinquishing my own will.
“Do you honestly want to know Me?” He asks. I answer yes. “Then do what I say,” He replies. “Do it when you understand it; do it when you don’t understand it. Take what I give you; be willing not to have what I do not give you. The very relinquishment of this thing that you so urgently desire is a true demonstration of the sincerity of your lifelong prayer: ‘Thy will be done.’”
So instead of hammering on heaven’s door for something that it is now quite clear God does not want me to have, I make my desire an offering. The longed-for thing is material for sacrifice. “Here, Lord, it’s yours.”
He will, I believe, accept the offering. He will transform it into something redemptive. He may perhaps give it back as He did Isaac to Abraham, but he will know that I fully intend to obey Him.
(Excerpt from A Lamp Unto My Feet: The Bible’s Light for Your Daily Walk, by Elisabeth Elliot ~ also included in the devotional, A GENTLE SPIRIT, compiled by Ashleigh Clayton)

Harold Lloyd: The Silent Film Comedy Pioneer
Beverly Hills tours will take you past many homes of today’s hottest stars as well as those of past greats. One name from the silent era that ranks up there with Charlie Chaplin is Harold Lloyd whose home “Greenacres” was/is located in Beverly Hills. Fans of Lloyd can still take a look at where this famous silent comedian lived.
Harold Lloyd, born on April 20, 1893, in Burchard, Nebraska, is often considered one of the greatest comedians in the history of cinema. With a career spanning over four decades, he left an indelible mark on the world of silent film comedy, making audiences roar with laughter through his iconic characters and daring stunts. This essay delves into the life and career of Harold Lloyd, highlighting his significant contributions to the art of filmmaking and his enduring legacy in the world of entertainment.
youtube
Early Life and Beginnings: Harold Clayton Lloyd was born to James Darsie Lloyd and Sarah Elisabeth Fraser. Tragedy struck early in his life when, at the age of nine, he lost two fingers while playing with a bomb-like device. Despite this accident, Lloyd never let it hinder his ambitions, demonstrating remarkable resilience and determination. It was this very determination that would come to define his career in the film industry.
Lloyd's introduction to show business came when he moved to San Diego, California, as a teenager. He began working as an extra in various films, which ignited his passion for the silver screen. His persistence led him to be noticed by legendary filmmaker Hal Roach, who would become a pivotal figure in Lloyd's career.
The Birth of the Glasses Character: One of Harold Lloyd's most iconic trademarks was his round glasses, which became synonymous with his screen persona. This distinctive feature, initially adopted in his early silent films, eventually evolved into a symbol of his comedic identity. The glasses character was relatable, endearing, and a stark departure from the eccentricity of his contemporaries like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. It embodied the everyday man striving for success, which resonated deeply with audiences of the time.
The Lloyd-Roach Collaboration: Harold Lloyd's career took off under the guidance of Hal Roach, a pioneering film producer and director. Together, they created a series of short silent comedies known as the "Lonesome Luke" series, in which Lloyd played the character of a clumsy and bumbling young man. These films served as a training ground for Lloyd, allowing him to refine his comedic timing and develop his signature glasses character.
However, it was in 1917, when Lloyd and Roach decided to abandon the "Lonesome Luke" character and create something new, that Harold Lloyd truly found his niche. The result was the birth of "The Glasses Character," a relatable and ambitious young man who aimed high but often found himself in hilarious predicaments. This character marked a turning point in Lloyd's career and catapulted him to stardom.
Mastering Visual Comedy: Harold Lloyd was a master of visual comedy. He had an innate ability to create elaborate and meticulously choreographed physical gags that had audiences on the edge of their seats. His famous clock tower sequence in "Safety Last!" (1923) is a prime example of his daring stunts and impeccable timing. In this iconic scene, Lloyd hangs from the hands of a clock high above the streets of Los Angeles, a stunt that has become emblematic of silent film comedy itself.
Lloyd's commitment to safety was paramount. He used a variety of safety precautions while performing these risky stunts, and the use of clever camera angles and editing techniques made his feats appear even more perilous than they were. This commitment to both safety and realism was a testament to his dedication to his craft and his desire to entertain audiences without putting his life at undue risk.
Innovation in Storytelling: Beyond his physical comedy prowess, Harold Lloyd was also an innovator in storytelling. He understood the importance of character development and emotional engagement, even in the context of silent comedies. Unlike some of his contemporaries, who relied solely on slapstick humor, Lloyd's films often featured well-crafted narratives and character arcs.
One of his notable achievements in storytelling was the integration of romance into his comedies. In films like "Girl Shy" (1924), he seamlessly blended romance and humor, endearing his characters to audiences and adding depth to his stories. This combination of heartwarming romance and side-splitting comedy set Lloyd's work apart from other silent comedians.
Transition to Sound and Continued Success: With the advent of sound in cinema, many silent film stars struggled to adapt. However, Harold Lloyd managed to make a successful transition. His first sound film, "Welcome Danger" (1929), was well-received, thanks to his impeccable comedic timing and the incorporation of sound in a way that complemented his visual gags. Though Lloyd's popularity waned somewhat during the sound era, he continued to make films and remained a beloved figure in Hollywood.
Legacy and Influence: Harold Lloyd's contributions to cinema extend far beyond his comedic talent. He played a pivotal role in the development of Hollywood and the art of filmmaking. His innovative approach to comedy and storytelling set new standards for the industry, influencing generations of filmmakers to come.
One of the most significant aspects of Lloyd's legacy is his influence on future comedians and filmmakers. His work served as a blueprint for comedians like Jerry Lewis and Woody Allen, who incorporated physical comedy and visual gags into their own careers. His impact is also evident in the works of directors such as Steven Spielberg and Peter Bogdanovich, who have praised Lloyd's contributions to cinema.
In addition to his creative influence, Lloyd's philanthropic efforts left a lasting mark. He was instrumental in founding the Harold Lloyd Trust, which supports film preservation and education. His dedication to preserving silent film history has helped ensure that future generations can enjoy and appreciate the art form that he helped pioneer.
Conclusion: Harold Lloyd's career was a remarkable journey from a young extra with a dream to one of the most influential comedians in the history of cinema. His iconic glasses character, daring stunts, mastery of visual comedy, and commitment to storytelling set him apart as a true pioneer in the silent film era. Even as cinema transitioned to sound, Lloyd adapted and continued to make his mark on the industry.
Today, Harold Lloyd's films are celebrated for their timeless humor and enduring appeal. His legacy lives on not only in his cinematic achievements but also in the generations of comedians and filmmakers he inspired. His dedication to the preservation of silent film history ensures that his contributions to the art of filmmaking will continue to be appreciated for generations to come. Harold Lloyd will forever be remembered as a comedy legend who made the world laugh through the magic of silent cinema.

PERSONALITY:
Sparrow is a woman who at first glance can be intimidating when she is alone. But under that shell you find a person full of smiles and laughter. Her good humor and optimism can lighten the most difficult situations. There will always be a small comment or joke on her part, always with the intention of encouraging her teammates.
Sparrow is loyal to her teammates and friends, she is capable of risking her own life in order to protect them, sometimes she will even disobey orders for the good of the team. It's not uncommon to see Sparrow put her loved ones ahead of herself in many situations.
Although Hannah is a person who can light up a dark room with her smile, she can become very suspicious of strangers. She usually leans a lot on her intuition that almost never fails.
Sparrow is hard to anger, yet she can become very temperamental when she sees something that isn't fair. When her anger fills her veins she can become aggressive and strike with all her might without warning. Not caring who she may be hitting.
BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Kingston Upon Hull in England but raised in Zermatt, a small town located in the Swiss Alps. She comes from a large family, raised by a British father and a Swiss mother, being the second oldest of four siblings. Her father was a tank mechanic when he served in the army, so Hannah learned a lot about how to fix all kinds of engines and vehicles. She grew up climbing the Alps with her father and older brother, creating a great passion for high altitude and extreme climbing. Sparrow climbed the fourteen highest peaks in the world together with her brother. Unfortunately Sparrow didn't make it, because on the last mountain (K2) she suffered an accident, saving her brother from falling while climbing, the ice broke due to an avalanche, and she was lost on the mountain for days until a rescue team found her full of cuts and wounds from the ice and stones. When she was transferred to the nearest hospital, she made her brother swear that he would finish climbing that damn mountain for her.
SKILLS:
Expert in all types of engines and ground vehicles.
Expert in demolitions and electrical systems.
Expert in extreme high-altitude climbing.
Sparrow can adapt to any situation but there is no better assault soldier than her.
COMBAT:
Sparrow's close combat style is aggressive yet agile. Her style focuses on boxing and Mixed Martial Arts. Her strength is concentrated in her fists, so it is not surprising that her knife of choice is a pair of Punch Knives.
TRIVIA:
Sparrow along with her brother Nathan, they hold the historical record of climbing the fourteen highest mountains in the world in less than six months. Although sadly Sparrow did not manage to complete the last mountain.
Although Sparrow denies it, since the accident she has a certain fear of returning to K2. A cold sweat runs down her back just thinking about it. But it's a fear she's determined to face.
Sparrow is especially fond of her motorcycle, which she bought with money saved from her first job at age 18. This is a Kawasaki ninja zx-10r.
Sparrow's father gave her his prized car, a 1970s HEMI Cuda. Sparrow continues to fight to make that car work again as well as it did fifty years ago. In fact, she made a bet with her brother Connor, he thinks she won't get it fixed.
When Sparrow is out of service, she has a small car workshop in Zermatt, where she is dedicated to fixing the vehicles of the neighbors.
Sparrow's nickname comes from her incredible ability to whistle. She's capable of imitating almost all bird songs. More than once Sparrow has managed to get a bird to perch on her hand just by whistling.

New Fiction 2020 - January
"Evolution Never Sleeps" by Elisabeth Malartre (1999)
This is dumb but I’ll just mention it here because the next two sci-fi stories also do it: ya don’t gotta throw sex into your story. Of course, yes, it is an important aspect of relationships, and it can absolutely play a role if you want it to, but the sex scenes are almost like, “she breasted boobily down the stairs.” This is in the middle of otherwise fine short stories. That said, this first one by Malartre has that non-ending that I love about so much modern short fiction. Like, nothing is resolved. There’s just an introduction of characters, a possibility of some freaky critter behavior, and that’s it.
"Sexual Dimorphism" by Kim Stanley Robinson (1999)
The writing in this one gets a lot better, and weirder, with some breastily boobing along the way, and I was sure there’d be some aquatic bestiality but the author chose to leave that to the imagination.
"Game of the Century" by Robert Reed (1999)
Maybe this is fucked up, but remember Mutant League Football? God, what a stupid game with stupid gore and stupid fun violence. This story explores stuff about gene manipulation and mutants, and now I wonder if those players in the Mutant League had a choice in the matter. It’s possible they didn’t want to lunge headfirst into their opponents and cause them to explode, or decapitate the referee, but you as the player gave them no choice. Oh and this story definitely featured some bestiality.
"In a Tub" by Amy Hempel (1985)
I... barely remember it. Some short fiction is like poetry and requires multiple passes to absorb its intent, but I failed to do that. A woman’s in a tub, that I know for sure.
"Tonight Is a Favor to Holly" by Amy Hempel (1985)
You can catch a shuttle bus that’ll take you from the airport in San Jose to the Monterey Regional Airport. It has a nice little bar and restaurant, and a great view around sunset. On the way there, you’ll pass through a sandy little community with a name I can’t remember. This story took me right to that place. What’s it like, living in the lazy sand towns? I bet it’s gritty all the time.
"Celia Is Back" by Amy Hempel (1985)
A father and his children travel through conceptual time in the span of a few pages. They grow up and distant, he grows older and wanders.
"The Glitch" by Rebekah Frumkin (2013)
Fuck, two forgotten two stories in a month? I’m pathetic. Oh! This is the one about the guy who goes by EDJ... I promise I’ll re-read it. (I will not.)
"John Starks" by Salvatore Pane (2012)
This one stuck because it’s so bizarre that I had to tell a friend who’s into basketball about it, then send him a link to the story. It’s about getting old and obsessive, two things way in my thought corral.
"The Jon Lennin Xperience" by Rachel B. Glaser (2010)
Here we are, my first Black Mirror callout of the year. This is definitely the same vibe as that “Fighting Vipers” episode. I’m starting to look forward to that good VR, honestly. Just that visceral, damn this-is-too-real virtual experience. It was some science fiction magazine in the 90s and its comic strip about lame adults masturbating to virtual nudes with stimulation attachments that planted the idea in my head. As a young man I would’ve balked, but now it’s clear as crystal.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order dev. Respawn Entertainment (2019)
I blazed through this in 2 weekends, and with 100% completion to boot. The corridors they use for worlds feel nice and dense, and the production values are hecka high. The Second Sister is definitely my favorite villain, even though I hate liking these damn Star Wars murderers. (You, as the player, murder so many people across half a dozen planets.) It’s good and quite fun, though I tire of the Jedi. Maybe Kylo Ren was right. (Fuck no, glad that guy’s outta here.)
Michael Clayton dir. Tony Gilroy (2007)
This movie meanders at just the right pace. I wish I could figure out the course of a good mystery. I might read a mystery novel or seven, really get a sense for it. The mystery here is also the kind where you think, oh yeah, this kinda shit is happening all the time but I’d never notice.
Little Women dir. Greta Gerwig (2019)
I like the ambiguity around the course of events. I mean, you know the story, I know the story, we’re all here for Jo. But right at the end, after you’re good with the journey, Gerwig pulls a rug out from under you. Just a small one, nothing catastrophic against the source material, but just enough to plant a seed of doubt.
Gargoyles - Seasons 2 & 3 (1995-1997)
Okay, this bestiality thing may be something I have to contend with in my brain, but this show is basically Beauty and the Beast plus Batman so there’s no way around it. And I’m talking about that CBS Beauty and the Beast that takes place in New York City. You know, Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman. Anyway, Disney did a great job with this show. The characters and their histories are deftly and intricately woven into Shakespearean magical nonsense that reminds me of that good Neil Gaiman from those first sets of Sandman trade paperbacks. It’s an enjoyable show in the first two seasons, and the second season is so long that it may as well have been split into a second and third season. The actual third season drops the ball and leans more into content for kids, but it doesn’t mar the experience of the rest of the series. There are comics that continue the story as if season 3 never existed, and the story’s apparently much better, but those comics are also hundreds and hundreds of dollars each, so... I’m content to read the wiki.
