Ninjago has a big cast of characters, and in it I’ve realised theres not that many characters with widely unique hair colours.

The colours white and silver don’t count, since those are still common and natural hair colours all things considered. Neither does red obviously.

Theres Sora, Gandalaria, Sally, Geo, Morro (green streak), Tox, Chamille, Seliel, Antonia, aaaand i think thats it.

This is including all side characters, villains, allies, main characters and so on btw. And for some reason three have pink hair.

Honestly, with Ninjago having such a big cast i was expecting way more character with unnaturally coloured hair. Though there’s definitely one or two characters I’ve missed.

I have noticed that a lot of Ninjago characters have very distinct eyebrows.

Though, a lot also look very similar with slight differences. Surprising enough quite a few have pointy eyebrows like Morro’s, even Cole’s mum, despite it commonly being shown as a feature villains have in the early seasons.

The designs of characters must be important in developing Ninjago, and probably any other lego show because they can’t show differences in characters through face shapes, body shapes, height, or any other feature like that often. So every small detail is important in differentiating characters as well as showing their personalities through those aspects more then they would in other non lego related shows.

Somewhere in the meantime:

Nya wasn't just the water ninja anymore... she became the blue ninja. She also started wearing red again with her blue gi.

Lloyd's energy elemental power started to ding over time. He was also looking for Wu, and I can't help it, but there's no mention of Misako and Garmadon even if they were how they were... and even tho he was very anxious, he became a master... he wasn't just a student anymore.

Kai got to be a big brother again for like the 3rd time now. We never saw him with Skylor be official.

Zane got stuck again somewhere after the merge... inside of the monastery of imperium now, Nya and Kai discovered him years later. He was turned off the whole time. Pixal is still lost.

Jay turned rogue and lost his memory...he wasn't the Jay Nya knew anymore. He turned evil...

Cole got a new best friend. It wasn't cake. He also decided to continue his journey.

and somewhere in between, we grew up...

Okay this started off with one question but then I started rambling but I'm sure other people will at the very least find it amusing if not also be left wondering

*Sentient* as in a certain level of self awareness instead of instincts, the level is in relevance to humans because I'm a human

So can non sentient creatures become elemental masters?

Like could a literal cat be the elemental master of agility and no one know because they think that's just normal cat stuff?

We know dragons have a varying scale of sentience and can have elemental powers at the same time as the elemental master because that's the nature of dragons

But could a dragon be the actual elemental master of that element? Like they could participate in the tournament of sources?

Like what are the requirements to be an elemental master?

We know you need elemental power but like is there other requirements other mastery of said elemental power?

Do you need a certain level of sentience?

We know you don't have to come from a mortal species because FSM, Wu, Garmadon and Lloyd (also arguably Zane)

Could a spell turned person like Bonzle become an elemental master if they become a person like Bonzle did? Or would they have to be made with elemental power for it to be an option if it is an option

And since Morro was able to be the master of wind as ghost could that mean the skeletons (crucha and knukle) be elemental masters?

Or do they have to have it in life first

Could an oni (not counting the fsm's family) be an elemental master but still have destruction? Or would the destructive power be inaccessible because of the elemental power?

I know I will never truly get answers because the writers never put enough thought into world building but hey that's what the fandom is right?

Okay so- I know this might be canon inaccurate or may be sort of rewriting some stuff but who cares because the wiki said there were multiple previous elemental masters

I haven't figured out a name yet (allowing suggestions) but I created this guy! He's the elemental master of ice who comes two people before Zane

Basically I made a canon reason to explain more indepth what happened with the whole ice emperor thing. In this idea/au elemental masters often share similarities with those before them. It can be genetic, emotional, or even life-wise. Soooo story time:

This character was often alone most of his life until he was given his ice element and met the other elemental masters. Ninjago often tackles themes of fate or sees things as predestined (Lloyd being the green ninja, constant visions, ect.) 

This character was seen by fate to turn 'evil'. While their sensei tried to keep it hidden in order to protect him in due time it came to light. He was shocked and horrified that he would become like the very monsters he fought, and the other elementals were distained. How could their friend, their brother do something so horrible?? They casted him aside and told him to 'give you element to someone who's worthy.' 

Before their Sensei could talk to him, he left. No home and no family to turn to, he only had his element. He cursed fate, he cursed his powers, yet never was he able to hate those who he called a family. He trapped himself in his hate and self pity, creating a neverending blizzard. (Birchwood Forest) This inevitably caused people to have to move, or be inflicted with serious illness.

He surrounded himself with nothing but cold, hardly a ninja nor an emperor. Years he sustained himself in that way until a voice asked him "Why do you only blame yourself, is it not the others who pushed you to this?" Days would go by and he'd reply the same "I can only hold fate responsible" until he couldn't anymore. He didn't harbour rage torwards them, but it was an empty feeling. All consuming until there was nothing more of him. 

Left with nothing, left all alone in his self made blizzard, he asked himself one final thought as the man he used to be. "Why should I hold their opinions so dear, when my emotions mean so little?"

And so he left, his resolution iron and his will frozen, like the cold he had always known.

....and that's all I have right now! This is sort of my "fix it but also mess things up" this is meant to expand on a few things: 

1) Zane becoming the ice emperor, despite it being manipulation it all felt too easy for me, just because he lost his memories doesn't mean he'd instantly be okay with Vex's plans. I feel like this idea expands on it as more of a spiritual thing, like he was connecting with a past user.

2) Wu's kinda favoritism towards Zane, I get why but stilllll, dude definitely picks favorites. Maybe after what happened with the past ice master he learned to be more attentive to his students.

3) Not really an explanation but I thought the connection to Birchwood Forest would make it more interesting, plus it could explain those tree monsters

“Differences between Sound and Frequency.”

Sound takes the sound around them, including their own voice, and magnifying it.

Sound’s vision typically looks like this, even if the elemental master can see, their sight is still altered in some degree. Similar to echo location. Their vision is lessened to focusing on sound. Which is why it works so well that the new Master of Sound is Merlopian.

Frequency is slightly different, though frequency can pick up sound, their vision is focused on what causes the vibrations, like so. They see less color, picking up frequency in the air and focusing on certain targets.

So if you were to be silent, you would appear blurry to the Master of Frequency.

So similar, but slight variations. Oscilla can also alter your moods or create frequencies that calm or anger others.

Why I Resonate With Ninjago So Much As a Trans Person

Contains spoilers

So Lego Ninjago. Honestly, the whole show is about accepting yourself and accepting others for their differences. Which is why as someone who's a trans person I resonate so much with it. I'm also an overthinker and a weirdo who spends time doing stuff like this!

First let's start off with Zane. He find out he's a robot, or nindroid, as Jay says, early on in the series and has a difficult time accepting that. When the ninja (Jay, Cole, Kai) find out, they accept him pretty easily. Even though they accept his differences he has a difficult time accepting himself, refusing to believe it at first actually. This is something that trans people and I struggle with. Even though we're accepted by everyone else we can't accept ourselves. Most trans people most likely went through a phase where they refused to believe that they were trans. Which is why when I rewatched the series and I saw this episode I felt connected to it. Later on in the episode he accepts who he really is, and actually hides it a lot less often. In fact, after season 3 (which we won't talk about today...) he rebuilds himself and looks a lot more robotic.

The way he rebuild himself makes him look a lot more like a robot, or in his case, a nindroid. (I'm just gonna call him a nindroid for the rest of this) He is also rather proud of being a nindroid. This is a journey of self acceptance that a lot of trans people and I can connect with. We often start out in disbelief and in denial of being trans. However, after we come to terms with our identity, we express ourselves the way we want. We're proud and aren't too bothered about it anymore.

Now Jay and Nya. I'm gonna talk about them both at the same time since they go together pretty closely and also cause they're a really cute couple. (We don't talk about Dragons Rising season 2 part 2...)

Anyways, they both deal with the same thing. Hiding who you are so people can have a different view on you.

For Jay, he changed himself to look better in front on Nya when he first started to love her. He also had to hide the fact that he some of the venom in his veins so she doesn't view him differently. Most trans people and relate to this feeling. Hiding yourself to look different in front of someone. You don't want to be viewed differently so you don't mention your identity at all. Of course, later in in the episode, Nya finds out that he got the venom in him and is slowly turning into a snake and tells him and he doesn't have to lie about who he is. This is something that also happens to some trans people. People find out that they've been hiding themselves. Some will react negatively and some will be like a Nya!

Speaking of Nya, it's her turn! She was Samurai X the whole time. She hid that fact because she didn't want to be viewed differently by her friends, brother, and everyone else. Again, similar to Jay, a lot of trans people hide who they really are so they don't get viewed as differently. Now, when they find out, they're all surprised and make a promised to not hide anything else from eachother.

While we're at it, I also want to mention P.I.X.A.L (I'll just call Pixal for the duration of this) had a very similar thing with her journey of being Samurai X. Hiding who she was so she want viewed differently. She's also a nindroid like Zane which shows the acceptance of the ninja team of different types of people. (Nindroids are people, right?) This acceptance really connected with me as a trans person. The way they show acceptance to each other no matter what is amazing and touching to me. They even were rather accepting of Cole being of ghost.

Speaking of Cole, I'm now gonna talk about the infamous coming out episode. Okay, its not really a coming out episode but depending on the way you take it, it can. Let me explain.

The whole just of the episode is showing how Cole isn't what his father wants him to be. His father wanted him to be a singer and dancer. However, Cole didn't want to take that career choice and became a ninja instead. He lied to his father about going to a performing arts school and tried to continue the lie when he was visiting him. Of course, the truth comes out later on whole the ninja (Kai, Jay, Zane, Cole) are backstage and are discussing stealing the Blade Cup (it's one of the fangblades that they need to stop Pythor, the main villain) When Cole explains how he's a ninja his father refuses to accept him. Of course after the big performance and winning his father finally sees that maybe it will be good for Cole to be a ninja. He accepts his son's decisions and happy ending yay fireworks pew pew pew.

Now doesn't this sound like a coming out experience? Hiding who you truly are out of fear that your parents/guardian will judge you? Yeah it definitely does. I believe the episode is the perfect allegory for a coming out experience. Whether it was intentional or not, it definitely was the perfect allegory. Which is why i connect to the episode so much. I'm sure many others can. We're afraid of not being accepted so we hide who we are. Now whether or not you'll be accepted or not when the truth eventually comes out is different for everyone. Some will be accepted and some won't. Which is why I believe this episode shows how it feels like to not be accepted by the person you should trust the most, your parents/guardian. Which is why this episode I can connect to as a trans person. I'm sure many other can too.

I also want to touch on ghost Cole. The change was very difficult to accept for Cole and everyone else since he's a whole different species! However, they still accepted him and treated him like Cole. Similar to Zane, when he accepts himself, he's rather proud of it. When he learns how to control his body and his new powers he's rather appreciative of being a ghost. Again, same thing, trans people have difficulty accepting themselves most of the time. However, when they accept themselves, they're proud.

Also I feel like I should mention this here but I won't be looking into the gay Cole theory today. That's for a different day. XD

Now I want to talk about Sally. She plays a big role in season 15 episode 10. Her main thing was running away from home to play her songs in Ninjago City. She later on regrets her actions and want so go back, but can't in fear that her parents will be upset at her for destroying their van and attempting to run away. Later on in the episode, Zane reminds her that her parents love her very much and will probably be relieved that she decided to come home. She ultimately decided to go home and when she arrives her parents are relived. Zane also turned on his emotion meter but that's besides the point.

This episode can be taken as another allegory for coming out. She runs away from her come so she can pursue her dream that she's afraid that her parents won't approve on. I know some trans people run away from their parents, guardians, friends, or people in general, cause they're afraid that they won't accept them. When Sally arrives home, her parents are relieved and glad she's home. Some trans people decide to go back and the people/person they ran away from accept them. I know this ain't the case for all trans people sadly, however, in the allegory in this episode, it is the case.

I'd also like to mention that I think she's canonically part of the LGBTQ+ community since the progress pride flag appears on her guitar and ln the back of her dad's van. Just thought that was cool.

I'm sure there are plenty of more instances of self acceptance and acceptance of other but I find that these ones I feel the most connected to. Ninjago is filled with it, which is why, as a trans person, I really resonate with this show. It really holds a special place in my heart.

I'd also like to mention that this can apply to the LGBTQ+ community in general, not just trans people. The whole community deals with self acceptance and acceptance of others. I also make a lot of generalizations about trans people, not all trans people are the same. They all have different experiences.

Anyways, I need to stop overthinking over LEGO Ninja. I think this is my hyperfixation of the year. I also might make a Ninjago edit today if I feel good. Apologies to everyone who followed me for Project Sekai and Bandori. I'll make a Bandori edit after that Ninjago edit I swear.

𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 :)

Roby spins on his levitating board as he announces the next round. I stand, leaning against one of the nearby temples. The ninjas—my past teammates—are gathered at one end. I spot three new ninjas: one wearing orange, one with cat ears, and another… oh god, it’s another Kai. Speaking of which, there’s a missing Kai. Also present is Lloyd. I notice he has finally taken up his role as master. I would congratulate him if I weren’t trying to gain Ras’ trust.

Roby snaps me out of my daze as he loudly (and annoyingly) hypes up the crowd. “Are you ready? I think you are. Yeah!” His large head is projected onto the massive TVs on the top display. “When they talk about the Tournament of the Sources, they often say ‘Legendary’ and ‘Mythic.’ But now they’ll also say ‘Mega-tight’ and ‘Stang-zoot’—” He continues, overly exaggerating his movements. I snarl, quite annoyed by Roby; he’s just not my type of person. I prefer calm—mostly—collected individuals, someone who can take charge. Be a reliable leader. Like Lloyd…. “—A new word I just made up, let the games continue!” However, I have to admit, that his flare and playfulness are most welcoming. Furthermore, it's quite comforting to see the ninja after such a long time. "Get your umbrella hats on causes it's about to rain elemental powers!" God this guy talks a lot. Nearly as much as Jay. Dude yapps. "First up today, she's smoking hot and likes to fight a lot. It's Wyldfyre, Elemental Master of Heat!" One of the new ninjas, I have very high hopes for this one. She was trained by Lloyd so how could I doubt that much. Since the merge, I have noticed a spike in the elemental masters, and a lot of new elemental powers appearing. I watch as the ninja hype up Wyldfyre, cheering for her. "Versus a spooky man, with a somehow more soulless gaze. Atlas! Elemental Master of, BOO, Supernatural."

There are loud gasps as I walk to the front of Ras' group, most of my team smirking widely at the ninja. Lloyd looks at me, his gaze soft and sad, with just a hint of sharp betrayal. Maybe, that gaze is enough to break my facade, that is, if I was fighting him head-on. However, fortunately, I am spared from having to fight my best friend - and maybe lover? I walk towards the middle of the entry of the arena, Wyldfyre doing the same, with Lloyd stalking just behind. I look away from Lloyd, pulling up my face mast to conceal just half of my face. I suppose it helps to cover the soft smile that temps itself to dance onto my lips. Or, the smirk that fights to plaster itself on my face. Though, Lloyd - oh the confident one - decides to ignore my obvious caution to stay away, by grabbing one of my hands. With a matching one of his and using the other to grip my neck scarf - one that he bought for me himself - this brings are faces inches closer. "Lloyd..." I whisper cautiously. My eyes widen in shock, he's never been this angry or forward. At least, not at me. "Where have you been?!" He shouted, causing me to - attempt - to step back. I shove him back, dusting myself off. Fixing my quickly cracking facade.        "-First to get it out of the circle wins!" I only catch the last part as I reposition myself next to my opponent. "Wyldfyre, I know you're itching for a good fight. But please, just go for the flag and win the game." Lloyd commanded. However, Wyldfyre seemed to totally disregard this information, instead deciding to ignore him entirely. "You know, I would listen to him if I were you. With his advice, maybe there's a chance I won't absolutely eat you alive." I empathise it by using a finger to hook around my mask, dragging it down. I smirk, opening my mouth, and showing them my lower and upper fangs. Sticking out my long, black tongue. I grin and lick my lips, putting the mask back in its original place. "Let's go spooky stuff!" Cheers Cinder from the sidelines. Lloyd looks at me with a mix of shock and anger, I watch as he shivers at my sinister tone.

Then the bell rings, and we both sprint forward, though I'm at an advantage and easily overtake her. Before I can get to the flag though, she shoots fire in front of me, I easily use the small fragment of Realm crystal in my ring to teleport behind her. Using spinjitzu to hit her into the air, I teleport over her in the air. I clasp my hands together and use all my force to hit her back, sending her flying towards the floor. Before I can use my spinjitzu again, Lloyd shouts from the sidelines. "Master Wu taught you that, you know longer have the honour to use it!" I look at him, stopping my movements. Instead of using spinjitzu, I pull out a wolf mask - which was previously strapped to my back. "Fine." I put the mask on, Ras hits the gong and I go into a shatter spin. Hitting Wyldfyre head-on, she flies out of the stadium, slamming against a wall. I walk towards the flag, grasping it and tossing it somewhere over my shoulder.

"We have a winner! Wooo." Roby announces. I turn facing my ex-team, Nya and Zane look away, as if too ashamed to look at me. However, Cole speaks up. "Atlas...Really? With them? Did we mean nothing to you? Me? I thought we were close, you were like a little brother. Zane? Nya? Jay? what about Kai? He was your mentor, a big brother, even closer than us. And.. Lloyd? How could you throw that away to side with them?" I look away, ashamed. I should be ashamed, to betray them. To betray Lloyd. But, I'm not really betraying them if I'm being a double agent. Right? However, once again, I'm broken from my thoughts by Roby. "The elemental transfer." He says though he doesn't look very happy with the outcome of the match. I spread my arms, bowing dramatically, accepting the gift of Heat. I throw a fireball into the air, causing little specks to rain down. "Flashy." says an unknown voice from behind me. Probably owned by Roby or Cinder.

And that concludes the matches for tonight.

Man if only the past elemental masters could see Ninjago now.

All the realms merged together, citizens being self sufficient and at least somewhat able to protect themselves, the serpentine being free and humans and them being equals, other species, more elements that never even existed and seem linked to other elements like baby elements, DRAGONS AND ONI. Man they would freak.
