I support the new clean auto rules! And I oppose defunding climate policies!

I am thrilled that the U.S. finalized strong climate change rule for cars yesterday. These rules will force automakers to ramp up��electric vehicle sales and slash emissions from gas-powered models. The rule also would reduce fine particulate matter — the most risky form of pollution to our health. Only seven countries met global guidelines for it last year. The fact that the U.S. is leading the world on climate action is great news!
I know that fossil fuel companies are likely to challenge this rule. I want you to stand with the Biden administration and fight back. We are in a climate emergency and we are losing. We need to do much, much more to avoid the worst consequences of a warming planet. This strong rule is a needed next step. I expect Congress to back it and do even more.
As for the Republicans’ trying to defund President Biden’s green tax credits? Absolutely unacceptable. I consider it an outrage that GOP lawmakers are putting oil and gas companies’ profits above our children’s futures. They need to stop right now. Thanks.

MBP Showcases Two Motorbikes in Auto Expo 2023 to be Sold in India
On the second day of the Auto Expo 2023, the MBP a renowned Italian motorcycle brand showcased MBP C1002V and MBP M502N, two bikes. Most probably these bikes will be available in India in the future and sold through the Benelli-Keeway dealership. It is the company’s first time in the country to have launched the selling of its new motorbikes.
MBP M502N has skeel body panels with an aerodynamic stance. It is a street naked motorbike with a parallel-twin engine that is 486cc liquid-cooled. One of the advanced features includes a 4.2-inch TFT colour screen. The engine is also equipped with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike will provide 45Nm torque at 6,750rpm with 46.9hp power output at 8,500rpm.
This bike also has a KYB suspension comprising an adjustable mono-shock and fork. It will have a seat height of 790 mm, running on Pirelli Angel GT tyres. MBP M502N also offers twin brakes in the front and at the rear, there is a single disc. Another add-on is a dual-channel ABS. The bike will individually weigh without fuel as 198 kg.
MBP C1002V cruiser on the other hand will have a 5-inch TFT dash display with a projector LED headlight set in an aluminum alloy frame. It will bear a 997cc liquid-cooled V-Twin engine. Like its counterpart, it has dual-channel ABS. But it will have the support of KYB at the front and rear.
The Indian automobile market will also see a comeback by LML in the electric vehicles section. At the Auto Expo 2023, the company revealed the LML Star electric scooter that has a futuristic design with red accents and dual shades of white and black. This electric scooter also showcases LED Daytime Running Lamps and LED projector headlamps. It also boasts haptic feedback, a 360-degree camera, and LED lighting.

Freezing in the dark
There's nothing like a power outage to make you appreciate fossil fuels. The Pacific Northwest encountered a bomb cyclone this week, smashing a lot of trees and leaving hundreds of thousands of people without power for multiple days. Including me. The experience was made a lot more bearable by a gas stove, gas fireplace, and gas hot water heater. (And also a gas-powered vehicle.)
And that's a problem for electrification. We haven't had a major outage in more than nine years, but this reminder that it *could* happen will definitely figure into our thinking, and probably our neighbors' as well.
Then you consider the added pressure that mass electrification will put on the grid, and the likelihood that climate change will make storms worse.
This is one of the scenarios planners consider when they talk about grid resilience, and all of the solutions are enormously expensive. Burying transmission lines, including the high voltage lines from the dams and wind farms where the power is generated? Localized generation and/or battery backup centers? Billions, probably trillions of dollars on top of the costs of electrification itself.
I don't have an answer. But dismissing concerns about grid resilience as scaremongering by climate skeptics (even though some of it definitely is) isn't the answer either.
