Have you seen Schleich’s Eldrador line? Besides some legit cool elemental monsters, there’s also these little head guys that can pilot robot suits with translucent spikes and interchangeable symbols. There’s not much lore because that’s just not how Schleich does things, but their designs have gotten pretty rad lately.

Schleich is delivering solid effort in this mostly bleak era of toy dev. I haven't checked out these particular ones, but there's a bunch of their monsters I'd love to have, but can't ever quite justify grabbing on the price level.

Not because it's not worth it, Schleich is like Lego in my experience, worth the extra cost in quality and care. I'm just broke.

I'm going to have to keep my distance on that one because that thing is designed to snag my magpie brain from what I've just seen: magic elemental headmasters-by-way-of-Crazy Bones with tons of clear plastic energy/crystal bits?

Yeeeaaaah... That's dangerous.

I can only really focus on one figure line for my own special-interest wrangling safety, so right now I'm on MOTU origins for the forseeable. I very easily could have gotten pulled in by Schleich's fantasy, but the line that routinely gets clearanced for $10 a pop is my dance partner.

Hasn't stopped me from putting a couple of the things on my cheer-up-the-robot-list tho.

You know, it's kinda funny how I've actually thought the inverse thought, where some of the stuff from their "girly" fantasy line Bayala would look really good in more "heavy metal" fantasy colors, ala Frazetta/Vallejo/Julie Bell or, if we're going really wild, old Warhammer 40K art (Thinking either the really colorful 2nd Edition art or the John Blanche art for opposite extremes).

Like... look at these and tell me they wouldn't go from "pink isle" to "power metal album cover" with a different paint scheme:

And I will mention, I emailed Scleich about the idea of doing unpainted versions of their figures at a slightly cheaper price for customizers to paint (Ala those McFarlane Warhammer figures that had a similar idea about them), and while they mentioned they didn't have any plans to do so, they seemed open to the idea.

So, if one wants to do those alternate paintjobs or unpainted for-customizers figures, maybe bring it up in their suggestion box on their website to show there's demand...

REBORN AWAKENING

Emiko's eyes fluttered shut as the car crashed, her world going dark. She had given up on life, feeling trapped in a mundane routine, uncertain about her future.

But death wasn't the end.

Emiko's spirit was reborn in the mystical realm of Tenria, where magic and wonder reigned. She opened her eyes to find herself in a lush forest, surrounded by towering trees and the soft chirping of birds.

Confused and disoriented, Emiko stumbled through the forest, searching for answers. She encountered Lyrien, a wise and enigmatic mage with piercing blue eyes.

"Welcome, Emiko," Lyrien said, his voice warm and gentle. "You've been brought here for a reason. Your journey begins now."

Emiko struggled to accept her new reality. She grappled with survivor's guilt, wondering why she was given a second chance.

Lyrien guided Emiko to the ancient city of Eldrador, where she began learning about Tenria's magic, history, and culture. Emiko discovered she possessed unique magical abilities, inherited from her past life.

As Emiko honed her powers, she helped those in need, using her abilities to heal, protect, and bring hope. She saved a village from a dark sorcerer, realizing the value of her actions.

With each triumph, Emiko's perspective shifted. She saw the beauty in Tenria's world and the worth of her own life.

One fateful night, Lyrien revealed Emiko's true purpose: she was the chosen Luminari, destined to balance Tenria's fragile magical ecosystem.

"But I'm not worthy," Emiko protested, haunted by past regrets.

Lyrien's eyes sparkled. "Your past is what makes you worthy. You've been given a second chance to redeem yourself."

Emiko confronted the darkness within herself and the world. She mastered her powers, forging alliances and facing challenges.

As the balance of Tenria's magic began to shift, Emiko realized her journey was far from over. Ancient evils stirred, threatening the realm.

With Lyrien by her side, Emiko embarked on a perilous quest to restore balance to Tenria. Together, they battled dark forces, Emiko's powers shining brighter with each victory.

In the final confrontation, Emiko faced the mastermind behind the darkness: a shadowy figure from her past life.

"You should have stayed dead," the figure sneered.

Emiko stood tall, her heart filled with purpose. "I was reborn for a reason. To bring light to this world."

With a burst of Luminari energy, Emiko defeated the darkness, restoring balance to Tenria.

As the realm celebrated, Lyrien smiled. "Your journey is complete, Emiko. You've found your purpose."

Emiko's eyes shone with tears. "I've found myself."

shleich's fantasy figures, specifically their whole bayala series of riders and creatures, used to be so fucking good before they split them into new bayala (fantasy creatures For Girls in pink and purple and fairies and mermaids only. no humans. cutesie dragons only) and eldrador (only big scary monster. no humanoids at all. ugly elemental designs with very little thought/design sense put into them.) and now the old bayala toys are like. $50+ secondhand

The dragons who watch over my stuff at work.

Acceso, the green one. Smallest but eldest. Calm and quiet; takes his job as keeper of the hair-ties very seriously.

His much younger but bigger sister, Appasionata. Elegant and confident and suave, but less calm than her brother.

Nat's tomboy goth girlfriend, Perdendosi, or Perdi for short. A bit prickly and abrasive, but also protective.

(Yes they are all named after musical terms. I work at a music store. It seemed appropriate.)

Schleich has another gimmick for their Eldrador line, the BattleCaves. They stack, they come apart to swap pieces, and they each have a special gimmick

They look neat, and I'm very big on modular playsets.

Seeing as its Schleich and I'm still broke due to constant interference from my bones among other factors, so I've added a few to the cheer the robot up list in case someone wants a full breakdown/review.
