Mary + Pete | Boulder Engagement Photos

What better way to spend a weekday afternoon that with the perfect Colorado couple in a gorgeous place like Eldorado Canyon in Boulder?! Mary and Pete took the afternoon off and spent it with me wandering the trails, woods and rivers of the canyon.  If you stalk them on Facebook like I did (no shame!) then you’ll quickly learn how much the outdoors and mountains mean to them.  It makes me happy to know that they’ll be able to look back on their engagement photos 20 years from now and remember how their story all began!

They started out casual after having had enjoyed some liquid courage courtesy of the mini boxed wine from the nearest shop.  I’m always hesitant to tell my couples to have a beverage(but no more than three) before a session.  I know it’s daunting going into the engagement session having little idea of what to expect.  Also, my jokes are funnier after a whiskey or IPA!

Mary and Pete are getting married this Summer at Wedgewood at Ken Caryl. It’s been a while since I’ve been there and they recently did some big renovations.  I’m super excited to photograph there! –Ryan

Kami + Leon | El Dorado Springs Engagement Photos

It’s spring time in the mountains ya’ll!  Kami and Leon were excited to share their love for the mountains by having their engagement session at El Dorado Springs canyon near Boulder.  Leon went to CU so this was practically his backyard!

The very first picture you see is what they were naturally doing when I first arranging my gear on the trail.  I knew with how naturally cute they were with each other that this was going to be a great session.  I was right!  It was fun navigating new trails and scrambling over the rocks of the river.  I loved it when Leon snuck out his shotgun from his truck to sneak in a few photos showing off his mountain man side that I’m sure Kami secretly really loves 😉  We actually planned on starting the session at a totally different location in Boulder that day but it was so darn windy!  I’m glad that we were able to escape into the canyon!  We finished up, however, outside the canyon where the wind was still strong and I love the shot of Leon leading Kami off into the sunset while holding fiercely onto his hat!

These two are getting hitched this Summer at Vail wedding deck and I know we’re going to have a blast!  Thank you Kami and Leon! -Ryan

Shoemaker Grocery store facade detail - does not appear to be vitrolite; anyone know what it is? Thanks to Julia of flickr fame I learned of vitrolite. I thought that's what this facade was made of but looking at the wear patterns I am not so sure now. This mystery material used to grace the facade of the entrance to one of the last old fashioned grocery stores in my home town. The place closed down after the owner passed away in the late 1970s. V.V. Shoemaker, the town needs your grocery store now!
