Alice's necklace

While I'm working on my final theory, I'm finding lots of little details like this. Thought I'd share!

We know from the designer that Alice's pendant is a protective necklace that was a gift from her mother. But when you look at it in detail, it is a rune symbol ᛇ, called Eiwaz coming from a word for "yew". Not only that, but its standard transliteration today is ï - this kind of looks like the symbol we see at the top of Alice's tarot card Knight of Wands.

The other witches' tarot cards also have their necklace symbols, but just as their shapes (oval for Agatha's Three of Swords, rectangle pendant for Lilia's Queen of Cups and panacea bottle for Jen's High Priestess). So using an alternative symbol on Alice's card, could mean it really is that specific rune.

Different sources interpret the rune with different meanings, so I will leave the interpretations to you:

Word for "yew" - which in Celtic culture symbolises death and resurrection

Rune for Protection, Endurance, Initiation

"The cyclical nature of existence and its transformative energy. Now can be a time of profound change, renewal, and the natural progression from one phase of life to another."

"It is the rune of the Yew tree, a symbol of age, endurance, death, and eternal life."

"When the eihwaz rune appears in divination, it represents transformation and growth. "

Rune Poem:

And just a reminder of the tarot card itself - Lilia says about the Knight of Wand card "Full of fire. Fights bravely".

The general meaning of the card is "Energy, passion, inspired action, adventure, impulsiveness".

This could be interesting, especially when combined with the fact that when Alice died, her hand rested on a page that said "you stay here and guard the door". (HODOOOOOOR!)

ᛉ ϟϟ ᛒ Runes Introduction: Part Two ᛒ ϟϟ ᛉ

Day 11 of October Calendar -> Runes are an ancient alphabet used during the Old Norse times. It is written in the norse mythology (Poetic Edda) that Freyja as the goddess of seidr magic, she used the runes for magical purposes (evocation, invocation, healing, divination, ect). Odin has sacrificed himself by hanging himself from Yggdrasil to gain knowledge of the runes.

-> Today the Elder Futhark are set of 24 symbols used for divination purposes but also for their incubations and evocations during rituals. The first runes were carved into wood, bone, or stone and then painted with various colours to make them more visible.

-> In this Introduction, I will share the meaning of the 24 symbols and how I personally use them for readings and for rituals. This second part, will be revising the last 12 runes.

-> This rune represents strength, reliability, trustworthiness and dependability. It also indicates a reasonable and honest venture or individual.

So does anyone know anything about Vidar

He's based on Archangel Michael but he also has the same role as Artemis, a hunter god like Skadi and also a Forest, Karma, War and probably more. Vidar and his brother Váli are prophesied to survive Ragnarok and will reside in the gods temples after the fiery destruction caused by Surtr, essentially inheriting the remnants of Asgard and one ruling the land (Vidar) and the other the sky (Vali)

Jera or Eiwaz is probably the rune of Vidar but beside the Story Fenrir and Surtr there's really no data

I know some people like to draw Harry's scar as a more accurate lighting bolt (which always looks cool as fuck, don't get ne wrong) but I like the theory better that the lighting bolt as it is, is supposed to he the Norse rune for protection, life, death, and rebirth: Eiwaz

Did they believe in Santa?: Wolf does not belive in Santa because the Santa folklore does not exist yet in the time she is living in. She however does even as an adult believe in the Twelfth Night as a time to stay indoors, hang Evergreens on your doors to ward of bad spirits and keep young children inside and protected so they are not stolen by the little Folk. Its also a time to make many predictions for the coming year and Wolf usually parties very hard in that time. She had thrown so many applepeels over her back to predict the first letter of her future love their name is by now ASDFGHJKLOOOOLK. However, obviously the twelfth night are scary for children and a lot of fun for adults and as Wolf is nearing her 30thies she is seeing it more as a time to just let off steam.

Were they a dinosaur or rock kid?: Wolf was and still is a  Tree kid. Wolfs father Wolfgang was originally from Haitabu and the son of a Varangian Guard (Ulfa Frekisdottir, Wolfs universe Karven the Hunter), so he grew up in a melting pot of early christianity and still very dominant paganism. Wolfgang had (still has) a Trollbag with bones in which runes were carved in and when he needed to make a decision, he would throw the runes and lay himself a celtic cross to asist in his decision. He did that for Henning and Wolfgund, because the children were curious about what he was doing.  Wolfgang teached Wolf about the Tree Horoscope and what wood should be used for what usage (yew tree for the bow and arrows because the yew tree is the rune for I and death and bow in the elder futhark and marking the spot where the arrow is set on the bow is always also the Eiwaz rune so when a arrow is shot it means “I send death to you”.)  when he would take the children along on hunts. Till today Wolf knows the elder Futhark and can give another person the exact meaning of the trees growing around them (along with the medical usage like cooking birk-bark to produce a painkilliers or use the same bark as antibacterial bandages for injuries).

Bugs or slimy critters?: Wolfgang had teached Wolf a lot about the Ecosystem of the forest as it was his task as a Kings main Hunter to take care of the forest for when that King arrive with his court for a hunting-party. The more detailorientated teachings of Asada in healingherbs and later by the nuns in the convent, made Wolf even more fond of bugs. Wolfgang usually collected rainworms and threw them into his houses garden and Wolf, taken along by her father, still does the same. She is not fond of bugs indoors, so she will usually catch them and throw them out of a window.

Do they fidget? How?: Wolf has the habit to scratch the poxscars on her cheek when she is bored or uncomfortable. It is a not especially healthy habit because the scarpattern is sensetive and usually Wolf irritates them into redness. When she is not in active battle Wolf will take out the wooden handspindle and a small oundle of sheepwool out of her beltbag spinn a theard while she is talking with another person, reading something, eating or just standing or sitting around. This usually sooths her urge to fidget.

What were they frequently in trouble for as a child?: In general Wolf was a pretty sweet child that was liked by everyone. It was a common occourence for Noblemen accompanying their King on a hunting party and who missed their family that was not part of the wander kings court, to take Wolf up on their arms and carry her around or sit with her to play because they missed their children so much and they could feel like father with her.It helped that she was a especially cute little girl. This is also the reason why Wolf learned so well to read and write (especially latin) in a still very oral-orientated society, because those noblemen would sit with her sitting on their knees and teach her patiently. The only thing she would got in trouble for is walking inside without taking off her shoes or comign to the table to eat without washing her hands or feeding her fathers hutning-sogs under the table and thats a vry normal thing to do.

What underwear do they like?: Baggy, kneelong linenetrousers held up with a clothbelt to which leglings are knotted to. Wolfs underwear are braies as a woman of the early 13th century and her underwear frequently wins the trophy of  “most unsexy underwear of the world”.  She will obviously wear dark dyed loincloth when she is on her period because she does not want to wash the blood out of her whitish braises, but thats the closest thing to snugly to the body laying pantys she wears and that is only happening for a week every month.

Designs on clothing or no?: Clothes are in Wolfs time a way to show ones standing in society and a lot of “average people” use colours and designs to pretend beeing a lot of better well off than they actually are. Wolf is no exception. She had sewed sweetwater pearls on the embroidery on her wedding dress / her formal wear and she had carefully embroidered the sides of her cloak and the sleeves of her every-day dress. The spider on her tabbard for her spiderman costume is also something she had embroidered herself.

Birthmarks?: If Wolf has any birthmark they have disappeared under her Poxscars.

Do they have good self control?: Every second of Wolf interacting with other people is a sign of her slf control. She  is incredible strong and can easily break a arm by just grabbing it a tad to hard, so her interacting with people is her permanently holding backwith an iron will at every second and every breath. Eepecially when in combat because her first instinct in combat is hacking someones head off and since that had not happned in over a decade, she is doing suprisingly well.

Favorite franchise?: Wolf is a very big fan of Walter von der Vogelweide.She thinks the bard is hilarious and loves his dirty humor.

Do they re-enact scenarios in the shower?: No, Wolf usually plays the equivalent of elevator music in her head when bathing or weaving. She i happy when she has for once quitnss and peace.

Do they tell the waiter that their order is wrong?: No, Wolf would never do that. As someone who is still always worried about food, she is just always happy to have food and drink and will be happy about whatever is served her. Shes just very happy to be served food in general and will enojoy it. Even if its the wrong order Wolf will beam happy like a child when food is set infront of her and he would be very thankful fo the waiter for beeing so kind to her, even if its just their job.

Stairs or elevator?: The only elevators Wolf knows are used for building buildings and she does not trust them very much with people.

Are they an exaggerator when telling stories?: Wolf is specifically talking and telling stories in a very exaggerated way. Her mother Felina (Wolfs versions Black cat) teached her the trickery of thiefery and one of the rules was: Either be not seen when emptying another persons pockets or be seen and lead all attention to your face so noone understands what your hands are doing. Wolf usually puts up a very swarmy and loud front , to lead peoples attention to herself so that they underestimate her and eventually also ignore her because they think they know what she is doing and what she is like basedon that front. Noone notices what Wolfs hands are doing or that she is using them focusing on her putting on a show, while she is actually analysing their physical health, their weakspots, the area around them constantly. Wolf seems very friendly and easy going but she is also very cunning and its not often noticed.

A Spell To Let Go

(Of Negative Self Talk)

Materials

Paper  & Pen/Pencil

Citrine

Obsidian

Working Candle (white or black)

Banishing Oil (Optional)

Abundance Oil (Optional)

Best performed on a waning or new moon.

Light your working candle and state your intention.

I release all within myself that is holding me back, and recieve that which will help me grow.

On one side of the paper, write down your negative beliefs/thoughts about yourself (ex. I am not worthy of appreciation, my work is not good enough, I hate my nose, etc.) Fill the paper with all of the negative beliefs you hold about yourself.

Now reflect on what you have said, flip the paper over, and write a counter statement for each on the opposite side of the paper (ex. I am worthy of love and appreciation. My work is good enough for me, I love my nose, etc) Counter everything. Even if it is difficult.

When you are finished writing counter statements, flip the paper back to the "negative" side.

Hold the Obsidian in your right hand, and read over what you have written. Focus your negativity into the stone.

State to yourself:

I release all within myself that holds me back. I do not judge myself. I do not hate myself. I do not belittle myself. I am not my thoughts. I release these beliefs and welcome new growth.

Repeat this to yourself until you feel ready to move on.

Now, turn the paper "positive" side up. Take the Citrine stone into your left hand. Feel the energy of the stone. It's happiness, creativity, joy, luck. Anything else you may personally associate with Citrine. Read over all the counter statements you have written once again.

State to yourself:

I recieve joy. I recieve growth. I am free of my negative beliefs. I am strong. I am powerful. I am kind to myself. I am free of all that holds me back.

Meditate on your intention, with both crystals in your hands, and focus on energy transfer for as long as you would like.

When you are finished, turn the paper back to the 'negative' side. Seal it with a banishing rune or sigil, oil, or candle wax.

State once again:

I release all within myself that is holding me back, and recieve that which will help me grow.

Flip once more to the 'positive' side of the paper, seal with uruz, eiwaz, a sigil for growth, joy, (etc.), oil, or candle wax.

State your intention one final time.

When all is done, take the paper, and place it 'positive' side up, somewhere it will be seen by you every day. The spell is complete by the next full moon. Repeat when necessary.

Authors Note:

I have found this particular spell incredibly helpful to me as a form of therapy as well as spell work. Allowing yourself to do the work, spewing out all of the negative things you feel about yourself, and forcing yourself to come up with counter statements, can be very beneficial. Believing those counter statements is the hard part. And for me at least, that's where the magic comes in. After this spell is done, I consistently am able to catch myself mid negative thought, and stop it in its tracks. I regularly have a very hard time doing that.

Here I am, once again, disconnected. I had a moment today, a thought, of how much I miss Skaði’s presence in my life and I feel like a lot of that is from not having snow this winter.

The snow has always felt full of energy and Her power, but this year has been lacking.

I asked Skaði to send me a sign and I pulled Eiwaz (ᛇ) which means “yew”, a symbol of Yggdrasil the tree of life. It also means life and death, rebirth and change.

I felt Skaði with me when I pulled the rune.

Blessings be to Skaði, Goddess of radical change, goddess of the snow, of skis, and the hunt.

~Update~

So back in October, the love of my life and I tied the knot and things have slowly been falling into place. My car should hopefully be back on the road in the next month or so, and we just toured an apartment today that looks really promising! Things are really looking up and I’m so excited for the future. I do a Celtic Cross every 6 months, once on Samhain (Helsblót), and once around Beltane/my birthday.

I always ask for guidance on how the next half year will go, and boy did the cards not hold back (current state: 10 of swords - I did not need to be that called out).

But even though the cards blasted me in the first half, the theme was clear, and the outcome was positive. Seek balance.

I've been overexerting myself physically and emotionally. It's been causing me to feel like a walking shell that can barely hold a conversation when I get home most days.

The King of Wands was my Outcome signifier. A pillar of strength against all odds. A sign that as long as I take steps forward, I can achieve my goals and create a better environment for myself. This card will sit on my altar next to Eiwaz, the rune that Hel chose for me to focus on, and a few choice crystals and rocks that I hope will lend me their energy during this time.

MARCO KEHREN comment about "Insomnia"

"Insomnia" is the one album by Deinonychus which was for a great part improvised in the studio. It was for this album that we went to record in Rome, Italy for the first time under guidance of Giuseppe Orlando (Novembre). With just three songs in our baggage we flew over. "Insomnia" meant to be slow and heavy, nothing more or less. The album had to sound heavy and dark, and so it did. For this album Steve Wolz got behind the drum-kit, with whom I worked in Bethlehem from Germany. Giuseppe Orlando did one drum-track on this album. In the studio did emerge two new songs during the recording sessions, which came on the album as well. Keyboards where done by Alessio Fagrelli, all key-tracks where improvised during the recordings in the studio. Like mentioned before Deinonychus always improvises bits and pieces in the studio, as to this very day. Insomnia was recorded back in 2003 and released in 2004 also on Picture LP by My Kingdom Music in collaboration with Eiwaz Tonkunst from Germany. To this very day one of the heavier Deinonychus albums.
