I need to give such a shout out to Warframe artists for making the entire sentient ship tileset and sentient faction a bunch of the most yonic imagery I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s literally all vaginas, period blood and uteruses. Pelvises and pelvic bones of varying kinds. Every fucking door and most of the decorations literally just look like vaginal openings. I swear to god I’m not joking, look at this shit
And let’s be clear, it’s completely on purpose. The entire story of the sentients is centred around childbirth and sterility, the desire to have children and raise them, fuck even hunhow has a womb as of Jade shadows. The original eidolon wanted the unum’s light to restore its fertility. Lotus has quite possibly one of the worst cases of baby fever in the history of gaming. Literally the fucking containers on the tileset are meant to evoke the image of a pregnant sentient. The entrance to the murex is a god damn vaginal opening and it’s not even subtle. Or maybe the SPAWNING POOL OF WRITHING BLOOD THAT DEFINITELY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PERIODS WINK WINK
Sorry if the images are dogshit, I’m on my phone and can’t find/get better ones right now but seriously if you go look at the official concept art you can make an entire drinking game out of taking a shot every time you see something with vagina/uterus vibes. In fact you can actually do that with the entire art book for Warframe, it’s really funny actually, this game is the opposite of Berserk’s constant phallic imagery, this shit is yonic city fr.
Anyways, all this to say, they put a straight up vagina with a clitoris on stalker’s face and it wasn’t even subtle but most hilariously, almost definitely not intentional yet retroactively way too fitting with the rest of this game’s art aesthetic and the faction he joins.

The 1999 combat theme and its foreshadowing because the autism got to me and I spent too long trying to figure out this soundtrack
Jumping off from @brokenjardaantech's WITW music analysis post here - go check it out, it's very insightful and lays the foundations for what I'm about to talk about! And thanks to @theterribletenno for the burst of inspiration by giving me a massive oh shit realisation in the most chilling way possible LOL
Spoilers under the read-more; TL;DR at the end :'^D
To preface, the soundtrack is structured in an ABC structure with bridges between A and B, as well as another between B and C that borrows from A. The key starts in Cm, briefly modulating to Gm in section B then back to Cm during the second bridge, and settling on Em for section C. In-game for WITW you most likely will only hear up to the first bridge since the Technocyte fight only goes for around a minute long
Sections A, the bridges and partially C feature genre similarities to grunge rock with fuzzy guitar chugging, whammy bar, and palm muting, while the drums are notably sharp snares (except for the first bridge, which are clean bass kicks that gradually distort transitioning into section B's style). Musically, it sounds like a typical fighting soundtrack meant to hype you up - the melody is confident and likes to push and pull its rhythm. But in section C it notably become emptier in its layering while keeping the distorted drums, placing emphasis on the lyrics (which I'll get to below lol). Heavier syncopation and polyrhythms are also introduced.
Section B however is the main outlier. This section is where it most strongly resembles industrial rock: rhythmic synth layers begin to accompany the melody (a pedal point line that plays every semiquaver/sixteenth note), synth drums replace acoustics and the guitars drop the fuzz that is characteristic of grunge and steadily strum every quaver/eighth note. Compared to the push and pull rhythm of section A, this section is steadier, less chaotic than the other sections, it wants you to focus on this section.
Notably, the lead guitar introduces a familiar leitmotif: This is What You Are (which @brokenjardaantech goes more in depth regarding its use in WITW). Here, though, its second chord becomes flattened (Dm -> D♭m) and introduces a diminished, dissonant sound. To me this was the first hint that the song may actually be about Arthur's downfall. This is What You Are is a musical leitmotif that recurs in moments of vulnerability, especially when someone is at risk of losing their sense of self, their identity and what they are. It plays during The Second Dream when we discover the Operator, during the New War when Eidolon!Lotus just lost herself to Ballas and can't recognise the Tenno, and in WITW during the Vessel "fight" when the Tenno is forced out of their Warframe.
I was prompted to actually dig more into the lyrics because I saw @theterribletenno bring up something really interesting
In this specific song, the leitmotif is diminished, it's corrupted. "Surrender to the corruption" - this is what Arthur is afraid of. I brought up earlier that section B had a genre shift. The contrast of the music is important, it's highlighting something, and together with the musicality of the leitmotif, it's making a sense of urgency and danger. The leitmotif is a warning to Arthur.
Section B sings these lyrics:
Break it, break it, Break it open!
Compared to the desperation in the other lines, these two lines are sung mockingly. The Infested are trying to break Arthur, and are succeeding. Their voice is becoming his. But there are actually two vocal lines in this section - you can also hear muted backing vocals in a much less aggressive and lethargic tone warning that "Disillusion". Arthur is trying so hard to keep his own voice and stay clear-minded but it's being drowned out and he's nearing his breaking point, and Albrecht, based on the Codex Fragments you find, is well aware of this.
In section C, while the layering is less intense it's noticeably more heavily syncopated and polyrhythmic, and introduces new (accompanying) echoing and dissonant synth layers reflecting the confusion and disorientation that Arthur begins to feel (these synth layers are actually introduced in the second bridge, but are more easily heard in section C). Section B and C also keep the synth/distorted drums that section A and both bridges lack (at most it's a reverb in those sections); the industrial sound of the song becoming associated with the increasing influence of the Infested over his humanity.
So I tried deciphering more lyrics for each section; I haven't figured all of it out and most of it could very well be wrong because of how heavily clipped the vocal line intentionally is so I don't want to make anymore assumptions than I need to, but I can understand enough of it to realise that the song is foreshadowing Arthur's corruption to the Infested. In green are the lyrics I'm confident are correct:
A:
Sting it, sting it, sting it! Sting it, sting it, sting it in the flesh!
Bridge:
I don't understand! It brings more disease!
B:
Break it, break it, Break it open! (Disillusion)
Bridge:
Sting it, sting it! Sting it in the flesh!
C:
Who's dreaming? Who's the [???] It's a vision[?]!
TL;DR: the grunge/industrial genre hybrid represents Arthur's humanity/Infested respectively, and the song becomes increasingly industrial as the song progresses, most noticeably through the increasing distortion of the drum sound. Section A sets the stage, section B serves as a warning to Arthur that he's losing his sense of identity as the Infestation drowns out his "voice" while a dissonant version of This is What You Are plays, and section C is him experiencing confusion and disorientation as the Infestation continues to corrupt him.
#i'm assuming the last section might be about the tenno transferring to arthur since the singer brings up dreaming specifically?#please correct me if i misheard any lyrics the auditory processing do be processing badly#wf said we took the themes of grief compassion and identity and are throwing it back at you tenfold#warframe#warframe spoilers#warframe 1999#wf arthur#audio#music#i haven't done musical analysis in a long time so i've forgotten some terminology especially with audio mixing rip...#but yeah idk i enjoyed this soundtrack it's musically simple compared to wf's other stuff but a lot of thought went into it thematically#i love when music tells a story in itself through its sound rather than lyrics#bc even without the lyrics the intention behind this song's composition is still very clear

Really liking the new Eidolon novel so far (50% read-live-review)!
Obviously - spoilers for "Eidolon - The Auric Hammer"!
Collins retcons quite a few things about the Lord Commander Primus - so Eidolon now joins ranks with Sanguinius' hair colour, Fulgrim's eyes or Lucius' first death.
In that case: Our beloved screamy guy is no longer a chemosian noble, but terran. And even joins the ranks of the famous 200! (muffled angry Fabius-noises in the background)
At first I had quite a few problems with it. As I had considerable difficulty engaging with the book in general, as it starts in a very cookie cutter way - the Third Legion gets its all too familiar glaze brushed over it (you know, like, "depravity" ...) and I had a few nasty flashbacks to the less talented writers who have had their way with Fulgrim's sons in the past.
But gradually Collins shakes off this stuffy mantle and finds a language of his own. Which, to my immense delight, reminds me a lot of Josh Reynolds! He's not quite ready to give the characters the degree of autonomy and depth that makes Reynolds' protagonists so interesting down to the last supporting role, but he's making great strides towards the dry melancholy and sarcastic tragedy that have made the Fabius books and the Fulgrim Primarch novel such a distinctive pleasure to read.
And honestly - he had me with this amusing nod to Tennyson!
‘Some weakling brother who yearned to follow the primarch, I imagine. There are countless of them. Lotus-eating fools who would have followed Julius into yet deeper madnesses. No use at all, unless you required someone to run at the enemy screaming of their own apotheosis. You were meat, once. Now you are just a figment.’
Marc Collins. Eidolon: The Auric Hammer
That's why I'm now embarking on the second half of the novel with renewed enthusiasm. In the constant hope that my favourite Astartes might now once again have an author who loves them as much as I do and who can do justice to their tragic grandeur.
"Courage!" he said, and pointed toward the land, "This mounting wave will roll us shoreward soon." In the afternoon they came unto a land In which it seemed always afternoon. All round the coast the languid air did swoon, Breathing like one that hath a weary dream. Full-faced above the valley stood the moon; And like a downward smoke, the slender stream Along the cliff to fall and pause and fall did seem.

which archon shard do you think would make the best improvised weapon
like imagine if your warframe had to pull the archon shard out of its chest to use as a sword like weapon, itd be kinda fucked up and could be a cool concept to use across a bunch of characters archon boreal is already a bird character with a shard lodged through his chest, itd just be a step further for him to combine it with korumm imagine a warframe fighting another warframe in the void using archon shards pulled from their chests as they try to destroy the others source of power
imagine if there was a version of lotus out there from another timeline (eternalism) with an archon shard permanently through her chest who was like a fucked up eidolon version of lotus that everyone in universe saw as like less important than the main version of lotus
what if there was a plot point about fusing archon shards to form an alternate flashing amber/emerald archon shard that could be used to beat wally archon shards could be used to resurrect more like dead sentients, pazuul is already this, they used it to bring him back after erra died and combined him with the ram head of pazuul archons could even lose their shards and it could be like a way to show them as new/progressed versions of the characters, or even better they could do like a father-son relationship thing where hunhow and a version of erra/pazuul fight together against a bigger threat! archon shards have so much narrative potential guys ^_^ theyre so cool. i just had these ideas out of nowhere but theyre probably pretty cool itd be great to see some of then done in the narrative!
#warframe#the new war spoilers#warframe spoilers#archon shards#some innocent and fun thoughts#not much correlation between them its a mess of a post sorry haha

For Juno: the second dream & the sacrifice, and for Narin: once awake & erra
[warframe oc asks]
Juno
The Second Dream: How did they react to awakening from the Second Dream? Did they remember that they were themselves, or did they think that they were their warframe?
They were very alarmed and distressed to wake up to say the least. They absolutely thought they were their warframe (specifically Nezha (prime) bc my hc is that the operators have Their Frame (at least until they get Umbra) since the warframes were individuals it seems weird to me if multiple tenno are collecting them like pokemon (the blueprints and foundry pieces are not canon to me sjk;lgn i like it more if they're unique to each tenno even if that's not the case)) and hardly remember anything from before. So it was extremely disorienting to suddenly be seeing what they thought was Their Body from the outside. For a while, even after the war within, they were very like... dissociated from their own body and didn't like exiting the warframe at all because it just felt Wrong. They're settled in themself now and are outside of their frame quite a bit.
The Sacrifice: What does family mean to your character? Do they have a family- biological or otherwise?
Family to Juno means those who take care of each other and are there for each other. They have no biological family, their parents were killed on the Zariman (not by them, they didn't participate in that) and they had no siblings. They'd consider Ordis family. Lotus was there but she's on. extremely thin ice with them right now. All their various pets are family. Nezha is family. Teshin is family, honestly.
Narin
Once Awake: What are your character's thoughts on the Infestation? Have they ever seen it in-person before?
He has seen it, because Juno has a helminth charger that they bring around sometimes. He's interested in it in the same way that I'm interested in parasites and such. Like a morbid fascination but he'd prefer if it stayed over there away from him thank you very much. Except Juno's charger. Barkspawn gets tummy rubs. I don't think Juno's told him the warframes are technically infected
Erra: Have they ever seen a Sentient before? How did they react?
He's seen an eidolon, which I think are sentients iirc. Didn't get close, obviously, but you know he's a kid so there's definitely been at least once that he snuck out at night and watched one from a distance. I think he finds them kind of sad, just by the noises they make.

Orion and Rome?
Orion (they/them) and Rome (it/its) are just more Warframe ocs we’ve been brainstorming!
Haven’t gotten around to drawing them yet but my concept for Rome is a Tenno who’s cryopod opened up on the plains on Earth not surrounded by anyone else, disconnected from the Lotus and tech. Almost a Drifter situation?? In where they can’t use transference because they haven’t been in contact with Warframes (yet). Years later they are found by Orion (another Tenno who was just running a casual plains of eidolon mission lmao)
mostly inspired from the funny idea of what if you were running around and locked eyes with a wild Tenno covered in dirt
“Hey uh Lotus theres some weird cat out here—“
#Warframe#Warframe oc#rambling#this is all just ideas so far I need to doodle#and need to help my partner get further in Warframe haha

Let’s talk about the juicy email we just got: our own Warframe year in review! (With commentary because I love talking about this game and how I play it).
Everything is below the cut because it's looong.
Apparently most of my warframes that I've used this year are not prime. That's definitely surprising. Must have been less than a year since I decided to start farming the prime versions of all warframes. (Fun fact: I currently have all the prime versions of the warframes listed there! Slow but steady)
Oh, mighty Zenith, such fun times you have given me with your rifle/sniper duality. Too bad that I discovered the Nataruk bow. But lately I find that, for some higher level content Nataruk is very slow (understandably so since it obliterates the enemies with one single charged shot), so I might come back to the Zenith sometime, see how it fares.
Dex Furis* and Broken War, on the other hand, still come with me in most missions. Particularly the Broken War. No other weapon in my arsenal comes close to it (maybe it's that good or maybe I was deeply inspired by the Lotus when I made the build).
*I bring the Dex Furis along to avoid having an empty weapon slot but I never use them unless I'm forced to, to be honest. I don't really get the existence of secondary weapons, they don't suit my playstyle and the game is already fast enough for me to even consider switching weapons depending on enemies and elements. If I can't do it relying solely on my warframes' abilities and my primary weapon/my melee, I just won't do it.
Okay, apparently all I do in this game is kill regular bosses**. No liches, no sisters and no eidolons. I actually have a lich spawned since god knows how long (he popped up in a random mission and I didn't know what I was doing at the time, so now I'm stuck forever with his very mean voice transmissions), he's taking all of my resources from me but I simply do not care. Well, I do care but I won't be doing Railjack if I can help it. I don't mind farming more resources to compensate.
**How many of those 169 bosses would you say belong to my attempts to farm the Miter? Considering that since the circuit was released I stopped killing bosses to farm warframes.
Last but not least, some random data.
Shade my favourite companion? That's so funny (and wrong). My favourite companion is the Huras Kubrow (Shade doggy, for those of you who don't know.) Similar thing, but at least he bites.
401 items created in foundry, that sounds about right. My foundry is always on and working.
Almost 1600 missions... I should go touch some grass probably.
UNAIRU my beloved... I was sleeping on it until a few months ago but now... last gasp thank you for existing.
Mag's Crush my beloved... in two seconds, the full armor of any enemy is vanished (including those pesky overguard enemies).

Dhakhan
Had an idea for the Umbriel Reef’s Sentient raid boss, Dhakhan. It’s an underwater Sentient with a serpent-like body and multiple limbs tipped with different Sentient weapons, resembling a nightmarish naga. This boss is fought three separate times with new or enhanced abilities, mechanics, and drop/reward tables.
During the first encounter with the massive serpent Dhakhan he announces himself boastfully, and openly states that his objective is to find the remains of his uncle, Hunhow. His voice-lines include degrading Erra and Natah, saying such things as
“My elder cousin, Erra, nothing more than a joke. A farmer’s boy, unfit for war yet somehow just clever enough to command. My younger cousin, Natah, a living deception. Born to cuckold the man and suckle the babe. Both of them failures and embarrassments. I will succeed where both of my cousins failed, I will bring the Origin system to its knees, deliver Sol to its rightful owners and take my place as head of the family.”
While also occasionally calling out to Hunhow’s corpse, which he seeks not with the intention of resurrecting his uncle but draining what remains of his power and stealing his legacy and abilities.
Initiating the first fight with Dhakhan only requires that the player have completed the main story quest The War Within and in this first form he is barely more than a glorified tank-and-spank with a wide vareity of attacks available to him. However, like other Sentients Dhakhan possesses damage adaptation. After taking a set amount of damage of a given type Dhakhan will gain 75% resistance to that damage type, with no limit on the amount of damage types he can become resistant to, however his adaptation is temporary and will expire if he does not take damage of that type within a set window. This will force players to make tactical decisions about how and when to attack the giant serpent and coordinate ahead of battle.
The second fight against Dhakhan requires that players complete both his first fight and also the main story quest The Sacrifice. In the second iteration of his fight Dhakhan is a Sentient undead, an Eidolon. His abilities and fight mechanics have been enhanced by this transformation and defeating him will require more precision and organized tactics than before, including the presence of crystalline Eidolon armor across his body, which must be broken with precise attacks on its vulnerable nodes before damage can be dealt to his health bar. This Eidolon crystal shell will reform after a delay, and must be broken again.
During this fight Dhakhan himself is near-mindless, and only capable of communicating in pained groans and single-word expressions of foggy, far-off emotions and desires. The majority of dialogue is delivered by the same Sentient version of Natah that also narrates the fight with the Ropalolyst on Jupiter. Natah will speak cryptically and poetically about her family, and confirm that Dhakhan is indeed a cousin.
“Child of the Old War, Dhakhan was made to seek and destroy. His purpose from birth was to batter down gates, to crush hope. He knows only hatred for mankind and hunger for power.”
For his final fight, Dhakhan reappears this time as an Archon and once again his defenses and attacks have been upgraded to require even greater skill and preparation on the players’ part. New mechanics include attacks which cause repeated raidation and magnetic status procs, cycling stages with different attack patterns, and greatly improved health. Because of his size and power Dhakhan’s reanimation required several different Archon heads resulting in a mixture of new abilities. This fight features voice lines from the fragmented mind of Dhakhan, the Lotus, and Pazuul. This fight requires the player to have completed both previous fights and also the main story quest The New War. Dialogue reveals that during the occupation of the New War Erra had found Dhakhan’s remains and from them learned of his mission and failure. Erra sought to harness the power of his dead cousin and hastily created three new Archon heads to reanimate his crippled body: the head of a Bear, Crocodile, and Rhinoceros.
“If Dhakhan had been patient and waited for the New War he may have succeeded in his mission. But he was arrogant and bloodthirsty, and came to Uranus alone to search for my father. Now all that remains of his broken mind and twisted body are the aspects that sustain his Archon shards. The rage of the indomitable Bear, the hunger of the vicious Crocodile, and the stubbornness of the unrelenting Rhinoceros.”
While the head of the Bear is active Dhakhan’s energy will be orange and he will become more durable, taking reduced damage and having improved Adaptation. While the Bear stage may represent the lowest threat to the players’ survival it will also drastically reduce their ability to damage Dhakhan.
While the head of the Crocodile is active Dhakhan’s energy will be green and he will use his ranged attacks with greater frequency, even using multiple ranged attacks simultaneously and allowing him to cause devastating status procs to players including slash, electric, heat, radiation, and magnetic. Because of the wide-spread damage of the Crocodile this phase is very risky for players.
While the head of the Rhinoceros is active Dhakhan’s energy will be purple and he will make less use of his ranged attacks and will spend much more time charging at the players and attempting to engage with them at close range with his arms and tail. Players being targeted by the Rhinoceros should focus on evading his attacks while their teammates spread out and take advantage of the opportunity to deal uncontested damage to Dhakhan.
