It was your self-imposed day off, so you started the day by sleeping until afternoon. After making yourself breakfast and eating it, you played Slime Rancher for about two hours because it was a nice relaxing game that Roxy bought you for Gristmas last year.

I was startled awake by a scream.

I jolt up off the ground, gasping and groaning as my body immediately reacted with an intense soreness in every muscle. Where was I? It was cold- the floor beneath me was hard….

“Oh my god- what- what happened in here?”

A panicked voice makes me wince, eyes opening slowly. Bright. I was….

In the bathroom. In the bathroom at the mall.

“Miss- Hey- Miss- get up-”

A hand reaches out to grab my arm, yanking me up off my behind. God, it felt like someone had put me through a document shredder. Twice. Why did everything hurt so bad??

“Hey! Are- are you okay??”

I was sucked back into reality by the voice of the short woman in front of me- she was probably a sophomore, clad in the mall worker’s uniform. She looked like she’d seen a ghost….

“W-What?”

I feel myself say. It takes effort, and my own voice seems distant. It almost feels like I’d just had the worst acid trip of my life…. God, I hope that wasn’t what had actually happened.

But what had happened back there??

“You- it’s closing time, miss- how- how long have you been in here?”

The short girl questions, worry showing clear on her face. Great. Closing time. Midnight. But how was it so late? I’d only headed into Spencer’s to get……

‘God, it’s about time you got up.’

My body immediately freezes in place. No. No, no no-

I whip my head around to look at the girl. I have to get home. Now.

I stutter out quickly, ripping my arm away from her and stumbling away. I ignore her protests. I have bigger things to worry about now.

Sprinting through the mall, I pray to anyone who is listening that I make it out of here with my sanity and dignity in tact. A part of me is in denial. This couldn’t possibly be real- the stupid pill- it was just….

But I knew. What else was I expecting?? It was like I was hoping that the six hundred dollars I’d just pissed away were a waste- which wasn’t too far from accurate. But now everything was different. Now everything was new. And I was terrifed.

'Take a left. The bus arrives in fifteen minutes, wouldn’t want to be late or you’re walking home. Would be rather unfortunate for the both of us, really.’

The voice chimes into my thoughts and I gasp, stumbling a bit as I run. It was there, it was real, and it was inside of my head-

'The sooner you get back home, the sooner I get to fix this mess you’ve made of yourself.’

A groan erupts from my throat and I feel an uncharacteristic wave of anger boil in the pit of my stomach. So maybe the SQUIP was a real thing. And maybe I’d just thrown away enough money to buy at least a thousand ice cream cones. But by no means could this stupid computer just barge his way into my thoughts and boss me around-

“Actually, I can.”

Suddenly the voice is real. Suddenly the voice is there, and instead of in my head it’s right in front of me, and I can’t breathe-

And it’s smiling at me.

He- or it looks like a he- has to at least be 6'3, towering above my smaller stature with a Cheshire grin. And God, does it make me the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been. Clad in an almost buisness-like inky black tailcoat paired with an oddly-bright shade of cyan undershirt and black slacks, he is literally intimidating to the point that I can’t feel myself breathe anymore.

My eyes quickly flicker up to his face and the only thing my brain begins to comprehend is how his eyes match the cyan of his undershirt- bold and wide and full of something between irritation and amusement. The world is moving around me but I can’t feel it; my mind, my eyes are too caught up in admiring the terrifying beast in front of me, how his tousled black hair frames his face perfectly and how the smirk plastered on his face pairs so well with the slight five o’ clock shadow and-

“Wake up. We don’t want to attract any more attention. You’ve gone and screwed it up enough as it is.”

I’m literally pulled out of my trance when he grabs my hand and actually drags me down the hall, an indignant squeak the only noise allowed to escape my lips. Who is this guy- how did he just- I heard him in my head-

“God, are you that dense?”

He drops my hand and I stumble a little, unable to find my voice. His grin has disappeared, and for a moment I’m relieved- until I spy the frustration written across his features.

“Follow me. Don’t say a word. People will think you’re insane, talking to yourself, and you don’t need anything else hindering your ability to be……. not whatever this is.”

He motions toward me and grimaces as he speaks, and a part of me is offended- who is this man to judge me?? We’d never even-

“You’re my SQUIP.”

The words escape my lips and I am breathless, frozen. He isn’t real. He’s just in my mind- but it feels so real. He hears my thoughts, he knows, he-

“If it’s taken you this long to figure out that one fact alone, I can already say that this is going to take a while.”

The SQUIP grumbles out, and he’s walking again. But this time it’s different. I know now, I know he’s not real, and I recognize how his dress shoes make no sound against the cold tile of the mall floor.

It pulls me out of my thoughts, realizing that this was exactly what I’d paid for. I stumble and hurry to catch up, still reeling, but the feeling is fading. It’s no longer fear that consumes me, but oddly enough-

Curiosity.

We exit the mall a few minutes later, into the darkness of a chilly autumn night. For a moment I almost lose him in the darkness due to his outfit- but there’s something about him. A surreal aura, almost like a glow that surrounds him and keeps him in my sight. I don’t have time to question it before he raises a hand and swipes at the air, making me blink as something akin to a computer interface appears in front of him. It glows the same color as his eyes, and my mind makes the connection that 'hey, maybe cyan’s his color’ as I hurry along behind him. He’s typing and scrolling vigorously, and a part of me is in awe. It was like a movie. Kind of scary and alien, but charmingly futuristic….

A smile graces my face and I shove my hands into my pockets, observing him silently as I do my best to keep up with him. The only noises in their air are the sound of my own footsteps and the occasional car whizzing by on the road, and for a moment it’s peaceful.

The peace doesn’t last very long.

Within seconds my brain is reminding me how awful this is, and my smile is eradicated immediately. How this machine is the very same that dragged away one of my best friends, and I was suddenly just cool with following it?? Watching it?? Listening to its instructions, obeying like some dog to its master?? This computer would not be my master- and would get no treatment as such. I was in control of my own brain, my own body-

But bloody hell, was he the most handsome thing I’d ever laid my eyes on.

The moment the thought pops into my head I regret it. Regret everything. Regret even being born- and my desire to throw myself out into moving traffic increases by at least two hundred percent when the SQUIP freezes in its tracks, obviously affected by my train of thought. It’s the first time he’s acknowledged my presence since we left, and it just had the be my stupid brain that did the trick. Oh god, this is awful, I want to die, my face is flushing and I don’t even need to see it to know because god I’m sweating so much and this is so uncomfortable and I think my heart stopped beating at some point and it’s so hard to breathe-

My internal rambling halts immediately when I feel his hand close around my wrist, tugging me forward beside him as we continue walking. I open my mouth to speak (like a fool, might I add) but close it again once my eyes catch the look on his face. It’s not anger. Or sadness, or irritation.

He’s embarrassed.

I only see it for a moment before he speeds up, the bus stop coming into view as I fall behind him. But no, I got all the time I needed to witness what I had-

The ride home may have been silent, but the grin on my face spoke novels of its own.

So maybe I could get myself out of this.

Mes van allen overreacted and was about to burn dita. Mr van allen came down to stop the commotion. He wa sbeing level headed like “what’s wrong what are you doing? Stop this!”And mrs van allen was just like throwing a fit “nooo you cheated on me!” He was like gaslighting her like no baby it’s just your imagination.

There she tried to test his faith—whether he’s chose her or that lowly inlander. “Then you burn her” she handed the hot brand.

She was giving him a dicothomy—slrt of like how mom does that all the time eg im cleaning toilet and she’s like micromanaging an dinsulting how stupid i am—i could have said you know what i dont have the expertise to do this i will relingquish my responsibility and shed say no you must learn—i didnt know i could say no i dont want to learn good day.

Same for mrs van allen she tried to do that too but mr van allen was like naioise. There was a moment where they all stood in silence—dita thinking he would brand her and she was scared and betrayed. And for a moment mr van allen considered doing that but he was liek wait what? He flipped the dichotomy over and said no im not doing this.

And mrs van allen was just like see?! You cheated on me you have feelings for her!! *rage want to tackle dita* mr van allen caught her and hugged her and be like shh shh no. You dont prove anything you’re commiting crime that’s why i dont agree. If the chruch found out balabalabla. Saying all the things the chruch could do but he do it on daily basis eg torturing bc apparently these rules are formalities only.

Use plot to interact with character: dita overhearing how what they’re doing is actually illegal and can be reported etc—she had an idea bulb. She can fight for freedom! She knows what to do she could write an anonymous letter with evidence to the chruch and this will free her and everyone.

So she went on a secret quest to collect info, evidence, and find someone trustworthy to write for her and to deliver the message. It osunds like a perfect plan!

She qould inquire mr van allen a bit about the government and he would be like huh! You’re quite inquisitive aren’t you.

She decided to abandon her original plan to run away with that dude she met on the forest bc now she could free everyone and perhaps inherit something to start her life. Do all that under the law because even when you do good things the law isnt on your side, let alone steal mrs van allen’s jewelry.

Then she observed people searching the estate and everything, eavesdropping and realizing her plan went awry and when one of the gov people said we will find out who this writer is and put jailtime for them—she knew she screwed up. She was scared. She had to leave. Sooner or later they will find out—so she delivered a message to the dude through someone else that she agrees to leave but it must be asap. When the day came she packed up, ready to tip toe to the designated rendezvous point, she tip toed, and she just have to walk through the door, and lo and behold mr van allen was there. He was holding a lighter with a piper in his mouth. Oh wow. Out of all the day he decided to smoke tonight.

“Hello dita...” he casually greeted. Then his eye went toward apack of something covered in a cloth that she’s carrying. So neat. His brow furrowed in confusion

“What’s that?” He pointed at it with the pipe in his hand.

She was sweating. “Nothing sir. Just taking out the garbage.”

He stopped leaning to the doorway and stood straight assuming serious position. Fuck. Bad answer.

“Looks like it’s still in a great condition...” he realized what he said and his suspicion grew larger. But he doesnt need to confirm it. Thats his power—he doesnt let people know what he knows and they remain unassuming until it’s the right time and he really destroy them.

“Put it back. I’m sure we still can use it.”

Dita nodded. She was relieved. Little did she know he kinda knew.

She went back to the servants quarters and rethink of possible way to creep out. Dammit he’s be waiting there and she told him that if it past midnight he should return because that means she is caught and he might be in danger. Then she decided she doesn’t need as much things. She left her clothes, and took only a knife and money. Then she head for the other door. Made a walk around the house to get to the gates. She was walking fast but quiet not to draw attention.

Little did she knew van allen was watching from 2nd floor smoking. When he notice her walking head on to the gates his eyes widened, and he lauched his plan. Someone was already standby the bell and he notified them to secure the perimeter if it rang. He rushed downstairs and ran after her. When she heard the bell she realized and she ran as fast as she could. She looked back and saw mr van allen at max speed toward her, and she was hyperventilating in fear bc she knew he wouldn’t be kimd with the punishment. She made it past the gates and ran straight into the woods to hopefully hide.

Mr van allen stopped in fornt of the gate, and he yeled at his men to prep the horses. He jumped on and dita continued to run. Amidst panic she realized she didn;t follow the guide the man gave her. She stopped to look around and noticed she was lost. This is bad. And then she heard horses. This is worse.

She ran and ran but there were people on her right, and she turned left and there were people in her left. Mr van allen was one of them. He jerked the rein pwerfully so the horse would crahs on dita , and she fell down but scampered up and ran away. Van allen successfully managed to buy time by making her fall down and he jumped off his horse and ran after her for a few meters before he caught her.

She was crying. Begging her master to forgive her—but he doesnt care. He was not even listening. He grabbed her upper arm and handed her to one of the guards. “Put her in the room.”

My life story, my mother;part one. Her drinking problem. (No. 2)

Since i was a baby, she did her best with me to make sure there was a roof over our head. I was never rich, and we never will be not poor. From living in a shed, to a homeless shelter, to families houses to our own then apartments we cant be more than happy in.  We never lived on the streets and she did her best to keep me a happy child, like nothing was wrong, like we weren’t poor. And i stayed my happy self when i got older. Completely blind to what was going on around me. That surely kept my mental state not as bad as it could have been. Shes a great woman, i’m thankful for all shes done to get us where we’re at today. Shes nice, sweet and a good person... when shes sober. But...Soon, i fear I wont be able to stand her anymore. She’s addicted to drinking and wont give me a chance to talk to her while also being quite destructive to my mentality.

Lets start with her drinking. Apparently shes been doing it since before i was born she tells me while in her upset drunken state sometimes. Remember, she had me when she was 18, shes been doing this while in high school or even sooner. Besides that, up until one day when i think i was around...8-10 maybe? is when i noticed she had a problem. Remember how I told you My mind kept me blind to a lot of bad things? this was one of them, and It never came to me until this day. Back when it was just me and my mom living in a house My cousin stayed over. Nothing new, she came over before... and we usually did our usual things. It wasn’t till the evening where my mom did her daily routine of getting drunk until My cousin pointed out to me that my mom was acting more... bad than usual. She was yelling, throwing things... And my cousin and I hid in my closet until her dad could come pick us up. My cousin, thank god for her. Shes was like an older sister i’ll never have. we grew up together.. but slowly stopped seeing one another after she had to deal with her dad’s wife’s kids... which are now her step siblings. Going back to others leaving after they get something better and new...But back on track...After that... I noticed her lashes more. In the house, I don’t really remember them really getting out of hand until my mom moved us into apartments.

That was when she... started getting bad. She was yelling, screaming at night at things, blaring music....acting like a teenager and a child. I didn’t understand why... I started to avoid her, because it only meant trouble  if I went around her like this.Not that she ever physically hurt me when like this, but mentally its taken a toll on me. My grandmother Joyce also told me not to bother her when shes drunk so I never did. One night of getting drunk out of her mind turned to two, then 4, then every evening until she started when right after I got out of school. It made it hard for me to talk to her about anything. I needed to avoid her, and how are you able to have a serious conversation with a drunk person? This is my first reason why I don’t and am afraid to tell/talk about my feelings. My mind tried to suppress these these feelings like they did with my childhood, but it wasn’t something I could do. I was forced to watch the woman I looked up to and could come to anything for, become unrecognizable and someone I just couldn’t stand. Someone I couldn’t be around, someone who I... started to not recognize as my mother. This distance grew, and grew by the days passing. 

To this day I still call her “Mom” But... Do i really see her fully as such...? Yeah, when sober, she cooks, cleans, watches movies... and.... acts herself. I love this mother. I love her when shes sober. I wish for more than anything that she wasn’t so dependent on beer and alcohol. We would have such a good relationship. Though... due to the mindset of needing to avoid her, knowing that later on she’s just going to get drunk again its hard to actually talk and be around her. She even sometimes stole the little money i had to buy A beer, which made me start hiding it. As I grew older, i got used to it. I got used to the pain of holding in my feelings and suffering both me and my mom went though. Ive tried to tell her that her Drinking has affected us both horribly and will worse in the future if she kept going like she did, but she never listened. She never considered my feelings, and never will. I hate it when people encourage her, giving her money for such, like she doesn’t already have a problem....I wish she didnt drink.

Just last year in CA Medi-Cal (state medicaid) stop covering for dentistry and optometry for people over 21. The total cost of my dental braces is $4550. friday: wtf day even is it woke up worked on science room cuz ray couldn’t meet up for whatever reason who gaf (but also prolly i was more productive since i didn’t waste a hundred hours chatting) listened to a lot of ace of base a lot still listening to ace of base actually then went to work after i spent a hundred hours doing 1 insignificant af thing

work was ok started slow, then more orders, also ate a lot of candy in effort to stay alive talked to bosses after work and they said i was doing a good job but also seem to always be in a trance whenever im prepping. aka being slow af. okkkkkkk i will work harder on this also im dying and im prolly gonna cut OH50 tomorrow because i honestly can’t or i could just take the bus there and bring my laptop and work on science room project or i could not take the bus there and just work on science room project at home
