Hey I absolutely adore your Indian James headcanons can you do some for Harry too please <33
Okay this got too long so it's only Harry's first year at Hogwarts. At some point I might do the rest of his years but yeah. Here you go, i hope you like it :)
The first time Harry noticed his skin was darker than the people on Privet Drive was when he was four. The first time he noticed people sneered at him for it was when he was five and a half. He didn't understand it; why did they think the colour of his skin meant that he was inferior to them? He heard the words chee-chee and brownie thrown around like Dudley threw his food, and quietly pulled his shirt tighter around himself.
When Harry is eight, Dudley and his gang throw him in a ditch and throw dirt and soil on him till he's coughing and tears are running down his face. "You blend right into the mud," Piers laughs at him. The next day, the boy turns up to school with black skin. Harry sits in the corner and turns his face away, a secret grin playing on his lips.
He comes to Hogwarts, and there are so many colours. He is approached by Parvati on the second night, and she asks him if he's excited for Ganpati Chaturthi. He stares at her, and then says, "I'm sorry, but I don't know what that is." She gets offended, but they haltingly talk it out, awkward and stilted like most eleven year olds. When she realises that he's been kept from his heritage and his magic, she flies off the rails with anger. "That's it," she says, "we're friends now. No arguments."
Harry loves talking to Parvati. She's the one that tells him his father was from India. She's the one that tells him the names of his grandparents, that tells him of the importance of heritage in the magical world. They talk about religion and food and all sorts of things, and within two weeks Harry is asking her to teach him Marathi. It's hard at first; the grammar structure is more like French than English, the alphabet sequence is weird and complicated and has too many letters, but he keeps practising his svar and vyanjana and kana and matra. He will do this, he tells himself. (He doesn't tell Ron. He wants this for himself, he thinks. His family, his heritage. He wants to learn before he shares, and so he doesn't tell Ron. For now. He will, when he knows enough.)
Slowly, he starts talking to other Indian kids at Hogwarts. Padma, a seventh year Slytherin named Aarzoo who's Muslim and always has the prettiest hijabs, Gryffindor Kalyani from fourth year and Hufflepuff Rushabh from the third. Kalyani is from Maharashtra just like the Patil twins and Harry, Rushabh is from Gujarat and Aarzoo from Punjab. Harry finds it fascinating that India has so many different cultures and religions, and demands knowledge from them. Aarzoo laughs, and tells him he should have been with the 'Claws.
Harry disagrees. He was supposed to be in Slytherin, he knows, but he is in Gryffindor, where his family had been. His family had been Indian. He wants to know everything about it. If he couldn't have his parents, he would have that which had been a major part of his father's life. And so he reads and observes and studies and asks questions— hesitating at first in case they yell at him (Aunt Petunia hated questions and he feared these people would be the same), but slowly he asks more and more. He talks for hours with Kalyani and Rushabh, and they tell him about Garba and Dhol Tasha, Ganpati Chaturthi and Diwali, Eid and Gudi Padwa. They talk about the languages of India, and Harry immediately asks Aarzoo to teach him Urdu and Hindi. She laughs, and says he should focus on Marathi first. He pouts, but nods.
The Mirror of Erised shows him his father, and he can't take his eyes off. James Potter is a tall man, bulky frame covered in muscles and warm brown skin that seems to glow with happiness. His eyes are light brown, and the bold black lines drawn under them make the green specks stand out. He's dressed in what Harry knows is called a kurta, white and gold threads woven to form images of peacocks and elephants and other intricate designs. The next day, Harry asks Padma what she lines her eyes with, and she promptly hands him a little round metal box and a tiny wooden stick. "It's called kajal." She tells him the differences in pronunciation between Hindi and Marathi, and shows him how to apply it. Harry wears it everyday. It makes his eyes look bright, brighter than they already are, and he falls in love with it. Kalyani presses a kajal covered finger behind his ear every morning. "For good luck," she tells him, a grin playing on her pretty lips. Harry flushes, and smiles back shyly.
For Christmas, Aarzoo gives him perfume. It's chandan and mogra with hints of rose, she says, "and your grandfather made it. His name was Fleamont Henry Potter, and he was an exceptionally talented potioneer." Harry wears it religiously. Padma and Parvati band together and get him books on the Potter family and their historical importance, and he almost cries. Rushabh promises to teach him how to play Garba, and Kalyani gives him a cookbook for everyday Indian foods— breakfast and lunch and a few fancy stuff. Harry hugs it to his chest and thanks her with shining eyes. (he may have a bit of a crush on her. He can't help it— she's really smart, and she's pretty.)
Throughout the year, all of them work to introduce him to Indian food. At first, he thinks it will be easy. It is not. There is no such cuisine named Indian, Parvati tells him sternly. There is Punjabi, South Indian, Mughlai, Maharashtrian, North Indian, Bihari, Bengali and so many more. "The food in India changes with every twenty kilometres of travel," Aarzoo says when he mock complains about it. "It's never the same, and that's what makes it so special." He agrees.
The end of the year arrives, and Harry is still weak from his tryst down the trapdoor. When Ron and Hermione aren't present, his friends from home (because that's what India is, isn't it? His home. The home he never got to see, but is no less a part of him.) crowd around his hospital bed and have long talks with him, filled with banter and laughter. His Marathi is so much better now than it was in September, and he blushes when Kalyani compliments him on it. Rushabh winks at him, and Harry throws a pillow at him, feeling the blood rush to his cheeks at being caught out.
On the last day of school, he hugs Aarzoo around the waist and cries into her stomach. It's the first time he calls her "Aarzoo Tai", and she smiles widely, her own eyes dripping tears. "You will write," she says sternly, "okay? This might be the end of my Hogwarts years, but you are my little brother." He cries harder and nods, refuses to let go until the very last minute.
Harry goes back to Privet Drive with a heavy heart and a proud smile. He isn't inferior to the people there, he knows. He's special. He's Indian. He's James Potter's son, and he's going to live up to it.

"I've been told that it's tradition in Aaru to give children some money for today, so here you go. No need to be too frugal with it -- I'm sure the others will give you plenty as well."
(Belated) Eid Mubarak everyone!
ID: a drawing of Alhaitham and Isak from Genshin Impact, with Dehya, Candace, and Cyno in the background looking at them. They're in Aaru Village during the day, and they're all wearing different outfits from their canon appearances.
Alhaitham is wearing a dark shirt with rolled up sleeves and a green scarf, his back facing the viewer; he is giving Isak a bag of Mora, smiling. Isak is wearing a long-sleeved yellow-brown shirt and longer version of his usual pants; he has stars in his eyes.
Dehya is wearing a black and red chaoui traditional dress; she's grinning and has a hand on her hip. Candace is wearing a long-sleeved white and blue dress with a violet-blue veil; she has one hand up to her mouth, and she's laughing, eyes closed. Cyno is wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt, white pants, and brown shoes; he's looking over his shoulder, smiling. End ID.
Also if you love Desert Gang and miss them dearly (like me!), keep an eye out for Desert Gang Week on May 5 - 11. They'll be most active on twt but they also have a blog here! @desertgangweek

Surprises (grayson hawthorne x desi!reader)
anddd another one :3 this is for @lanterns-and-daydreams !!! also once again eid mubarak !!!!
Grayson couldn't wait to see his long distance girlfriend Hamnah’s reaction when he sees her face to face.It has been over two months since she flew back to Pakistan to spend time with her family. Though they facetime each other almost everyday it's not the same as being in the presence of each other. He missed her so badly.
Once he landed, he texted her, asking where she is to make sure she's home. Apparently she was meeting her friends and would be home after an hour or so. He had enough time to go to her parents' house and wait. He has already met her parents when they visited her in Texas. They absolutely love Grayson like their son.
He told her parents about his plan, and how Hamna doesn't know about the fact that he is in Pakistan. He waited and was having a chat with her parents before he heard the front door open. He immediately adjusted his suit jacket and stood up.
Hamnah walked inside the living room with her bag and dropped it once she saw Grayson in her living room. She immediately ran to Grayson and threw her arms around his neck as Graysons hands wrapped around her waist hugging her tight he nuzzled his face in her neck.
She finally pulled back “Oh my god, what are you doing here? Why didn't you tell me!” She asked, her excitement is so obvious in her eyes.
“Eid Mubarak, my love” He wanted to surprise her on Eid. It's all she talked about this past month.
She pecked his cheeks quickly and thanked him.
“I have another surprise for you” He said before walking towards the sofa and taking the shopping bag in his hand.
“What is this?”She asked, taking it from him.
“I got you another Eid dress, hope you'll like it” He said with a proud smile.
She took out the dress. It was a dark green lehenga with an uncountable amount of rhinestones. The lehenga screamed rich. But she was used to him getting her expensive things.
“It's beautiful, I'll try this on right now. You wait here” She said and walked to her room. It was so perfect on her. She also noticed that the shopping bag had matching jhumkas and bangles, of course Grayson Hawthorne would buy accessories as well along with a lehenga for his girlfriend.
Grayson froze when he saw Hamna in the lehenga, she looked exactly like how he imagined her to look in this lehenga.
“We'll say something” She chuckled, she can tell that he's in awe.
“Words can't describe how good you look right now.” He said and kissed her forehead.
“Thank you so much, you really made my day” She said.
“Anything for you”

Eid Mubarak from the Siddiqui family (and Iseul)! 🌙
Grace's parents came from Simland to celebrate Eid with their daughter and her fiancee Iseul, and the four of them took photos together to commemorate the occasion and to send to Amna's family in Pakistan. Grace is in the orange shalwar kameez, Amna is in the purple one, Samuel is in the green kurta pajama, and Iseul is in the navy and black tunic and pants set that her future in-laws gifted her. They all look so nice in their outfits. 💖
Note: I celebrated Eid today with my family IRL. It was nice, we just had food and chilled and I wore my Anarkali-style Eid suit at home to feel fancy. 😄
Here's a link to what an Anarkali-type dress looks like, although I have a more simple one: https://www.andaazfashion.com/navy-blue-net-frock-style-anarkali-suit-lstv07786.html

Weekly check in with stardust
i have been creating a lot of stuff and im nearly done with my online science course and should be done by the end of this week!
the other week was eid and ur girlie made sweets, dressed up, visited a friend, and made Mario Lego B) I also got stickers for my laptop but that's unrelated lol
also we made bakhlawa and makrout they are literally my favorites lol, even the people at my friends party seemed to really like them too lol
apparently I look really good in olive green so that's like also a major win for me
the stickers are like vintage looking florals ones lol
btw I've been working so much on my four swords DND au, I'm not sure what to call It tho? I was thinking like "Four Keys" because the swords are literally keys to a secret realm or whatever
btw have u had any good recipes recently? Im fasting just because I can and rn I'm just thinking about food lol
i made a fajita tonight using colored peppers too lol
if u have any good recipes please tell me I love hoarding them
btw, I have one character left with enough space for an additional trauma/mental issue on my roster for the au so honestly just send me a few different ideas for them and I'll probably choose one lol
btw the dudes got the thickest Russian accent, is very brutally honest, soft and gruff, non nonsense and needs to adopt every small thing in sight or else he will die because this is how he's coping.
he was stuck in like an iceberg for like 200 years (there's a wholes Tory behind that) and then we he emerged (thats also a story) everyone he knew is kinda super dead because of the passage of time
*someone saying something stupid*
"Your voice, very ugly, please, do the shut up :] "
thats him in a nutshell^
also remember to do wrist and finger stretches for writers and artists
also I acquired a glass orb with glass art inside <3 o r b
also what's legend's irrational fear?
also I love legend being like, an actual good influence on wind in his own weird way
i want them to bond more, maybe do a whole stealing heist from some knights-
im not asking u t write it but I just wanted to share lol
i hope you've been doing well, u seem to be lol
also do u like wearing jewelry? and if so how often lol
Wow, that's a wall! (pos)
I'm glad you got to enjoy some nice food, time with friends, and dressing up! Also, it sounds like you're having a ton of fun creating recently! I am as well, but it's slow going as I'm working on a multi-chap that's very demanding about where and what is supposed to happen (I did this to myself but the results are fantastic!)
"Four Keys" sounds like it has great potential as a title! I like it! I also love the Russian accent. the character is giving slight Captain America vibes, but only for backstory, and I love the concept so much!
As for a irrational fear..... ma am I bad at those I rationalize anything so... maybe large empty spaces? Usually those are indicative of a boss fight in his mind, so just having one that isn't hiding some threat throws him way off. He's also insanely wary of any room with a tiled floor. Because >:)
I also love him and Wind! The fact that they're both on the younger side here but also both accustomed to being the person others look to gives great opportunities for them to bond and interact. Legend has a lot of experience to share but he's also not up on a pedestal like Time or Warriors is, so there's more opportunity for direct communication and less a need to impress. (I actually just finished writing something with them, as it happens!)
I'm honestly not the best baker in the world, or cook in general (I'm still building up my recipe book after leaving my parent's house) but I can share my mum's bread recipe! It's very good, for every day, or to make into rolls for the holidays and with nice meals!
Recipe makes 4 large loaves btw
Dissolve 2 packages of dried yeast into 4 cups of warm water.
In a separate bowl, mix 1/2 cup soft butter with 1/2 cup of honey (you can also add 1/4 cup of molasses for super dense rolls/loaves).
Once the honey-butter is combined, add the yeast water to the bowl
Scoop in 6 cups of whole wheat flour + 4 cups white flour.
Mix, knead, and set into greased bread-pans, or roll into balls on a cookie sheet.
Bake loaves for 35-40 min at 375 F, or rolls for 10-15 min at the same.
After you remove it from the oven, brush generously with butter before they cool, for extra flavor and to preserve moistness.
Hope this one makes you happy! It's great to use in sandwiches, serve with soup, or eat with jam, or alone!

Day 3 of getting my sh!t together
Hii!! It is finally the third day of getting my life together. I still can't believe I have been consistent for three days! 👀🫠
Okay, my day began pretty late today. I guess the chamomile tea worked. Although I missed yoga class, I did yoga at home as per my daily yoga routine. I obviously did not have breakfast but indulged in an ice cream sandwich 😋 along with black coffee. Mom cooked her special Chicken in lemon butter sauce and I had it with a piece of chapati and salad. It was heavenly. I watched another episode of Queen of Tears and had to report for work. Ahh, all my friends have a holiday for Eid. 🥲 But, it's okay. I honestly want a vacation, haven't been on one for a long time. Need to plan something soon. What else, what else, what else??? Ahh, did not go for a walk. I honestly don't know when will be the next time I go out for a walk. I feel so uncomfortable stepping out in my neighborhood alone, IDK why! I don't have any problem wandering around in any other place. It's just this area.
Anyways, that's it. Here's my menu for the day:
Ahh, I forgot to mention this every day, I start my day with a glass of warm lemon water with chia seeds that have been soaked overnight.
Breakfast:
1)Black coffee
2)Ice-cream sandwich 😋🫠
Tumblr media
Lunch:
1)Roti
2)Chicken in lemon butter sauce
3)Salad
Tumblr media
Evening Snack:
1)Black coffee (I wasn't feeling hungry since I had a late lunch)
Dinner:
1)Chicken salad with yogurt dressing (This is honestly so refreshing and fulfilling. I drizzle it with some hot sauce and it is sooo good)
Tumblr media
Pre-bed
Chamomile green tea (forgot to click so here's the empty cup🫠)
Tumblr media
Here's my song recommendation for the day
I love the kdrama and this ost so much 💗

a bit belated but for eid I made vegan versions of what we usually eat to celebrate. the dry curry rendang is usually made with chicken or beef but this time I used green jackfruit + oyster mushrooms. I surprisingly really like how it turned out ; the texture was spot on. It’s obvs lacking that «meat» taste but I think the flavours are still complex bc the rempah was still the same. I also don’t miss the meat taste and like how it’s much lighter on the appetite. If I had had more time, I would have tried a mixture of other mushrooms, I ended up just using what I had in the fridge. The real upside to this vegan version is tt I cooked it down in 3 hours versus the 8~ hours it takes to do it with beef.
For the nasi kuning i tried something new where in addition to using turmeric, I bloomed safflower in the coconut milk. Instead of making acar as the salad, I decided to make urap sayur. It can be any mix of veg that’s usually blanched but I wanted to avoid water logging as much as possible (to preserve optimal crunch) and didn’t want to bother with shocking in an ice bath so I steamed the veg. I julienned the veg so the thin strips reminded me a little bit of Thai green papaya salad. I used chayote, pumpkin, carrot, green beans, shallots, bird’s eye chili and snap peas. The thing that makes this urap is the cooking method for the veg + the dressing which is kerisik (freshly grated coconut that is toasted and sweetened with things like tamarind and gula jawa). I also fried up some extra firm tofu to go on top of it and increase protein.

True Dreams of the Believers - Series on al-Khilāfah (the Caliphate) of Al-Mahdī (litterally "The Guided one")
17 Sha'abān 1444 - in Bilād al-Maghrib, corresponding to 11 March 2023
First some ahadīth about Al-Mahdī:
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
لَا تَذْهَبُ الدُّنْيَا حَتَّى يَمْلِكَ الْعَرَبَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي يُوَاطِئُ اسْمُهُ اسْمِي
The world will not pass away until the Arabs are ruled by a man from my household, whose name agrees with my name.
Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2230, Grade: Sahih
مِنَّا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ يُصْلِحُهُ اللَّهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ
The Mahdi is from us, the prophetic household. Allah will set right his affairs in a single night.
Source: Sunan Ibn Mājah 4085, Grade: Sahih li ghayrihi
‘Ali al-Qari commented on this tradition, writing:
يُصْلِحُ الله أَمْرَهُ وَيَرْفَعُ قَدْرَهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ أَوْ فِي سَاعَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ حَيْثُ يَتَّفِقُ عَلَى خِلَافَتِهِ أَهْلُ الْحَلِّ وَالْعَقْدِ فِيهَا
Allah will set right his affairs and raise his status in one night, or in a moment of one night, such that those invested with authority will agree upon his Caliphate.

Picture above, one of the ancient Madrassa built in Fes, Bilād al-Maghrib around 700 Hijri.
In the past few years many amongst the duāt (callers to Islām and Sunnah), and the Imām in various parts of the world have heard of dreams by our brothers and sisters in Islām which agree with the prophecy of Al-Mahdī.
This is across the Muslim world, and what is interesting is that some give us a flavour of what the Khilāfah might look like, bi idhni LLAH.
Only dreams which do not contradict the prophetic ahadīth and athār from the Sahabā can be true. The others can be dismissed obviously.
PHD Ismaīl BenZakariyah, and other duāt (callers to Islām and Sunnah) says he receives many more dreams than he actually talks about, but he first checks who the dreamer is and whether he is know to be a person of Deen and truthfulness and dismisses those by people who may be afflicted by Sihr - magic or other afflictions of the Rūh (soul).
We have here a dream by a sister told by a dā'ī about one year ago now, which is interesting as it gives us an insight on how extensive the Khilāfah may be. She says :
We were celebrating Eid-al-'Arsh (the Celebration of the Throne of the actual Monarch, which is a national holiday in Bilād al-Maghrib) and it is as if I had come out, I found outside a lot of people on the roads, they were all out and it was very crowded. I was amongst a group of men and there was a man staring at me..I saw myself wearing a coat and heading back home. As I was going home I could see the darkness fall, the day was ending. I met on my way a woman I knew. She came with me to get onto the bus.
When I got closer to the street, I got coins out of my bag. I was shocked to see the look of the coins had changed. Their colour was green.
I found a huge coin, on it was drawn something. I looked at it and it was the figure of a man who was dressed like a fighter.
I woke up wondering what this dream is about.
The interpretation by one of the people of Deen was the following - and Allāh knows best :
The symbol of Eid al-'Arsh in the dream is interpreted as events that will get all the people of Bilād al-Maghrib out, and the crowds gathering are signs that changes are coming. These changes are most likely not only limited to Bilād al-Maghrib but rather the whole of the Islamic world.
Her being seated amongst the men indicates that some very great events that will change the order and regime will occur, and that people are aware that these changes are on their way. A lot of people are surveilling matters and affairs of the country knowing that change will most likely come. It is true that with social media now all affairs of the regime are being explained scrutinized and criticised like never before, not only in Bilād al-Maghrib but everywhere across the Muslim world. People also don't believe that affairs will stay as they are and expect major changes in the future in the regime and others affairs of the country,(this is the case in many other Arab countries where social unrest has increased in the past few years).
Her getting a coat on and leaving to go back home with darkness of the time of maghrib - sunset in the background is an indication that fitan (trials and tribulations) are on their way.
These fitan are the ones prophetized to come just before the appearance of Imām Al-Mahdī. And the sign that this is the case is what happens next in the dream : she sees a woman she knows - that is a sign of developments and events that are expected, known to come (i.e. from the prophetic ahadīth). Then she sees new coins. This symbol means the rule of the land has changed, the rulers and regime have changed. What is meant here is not only Bilād al-Maghrib. We are talking about al-Khilāfah - the Caliphate. The fact that the coin symbol is a man who wears fighter clothes means the Khilāfah will be established by Al-Mahdī.
This agrees with ahadīth about Al-Mahdī being the ruler of a Khilāfah - a unitary state that will extend over many current nations of today.
And Allāh knows best.
The Mahdi will be from my lineage, with a curved nose. He will fill the earth with justice and equity, just as it had been filled with tyranny and oppression. He will rule for seven years.

These often feature lavish decorations, luxurious materials like velvet and silk, and classic themes. We have all of these in our The Jaipur Loom collection.
Choose Kurtis with a hint of luxury for your wedding guests; think elaborate embroidery, zardozi work, and plush materials. For this occasion, colours like majestic gold, regal blues, and deep reds are ideal for women's cotton palazzo kurta sets.

In Indian families, "pujas," "paths," and private get-togethers are important to our traditions. As Indians, we believe wholeheartedly in the efficacy of prayer and the healing potential. One thing never changes, even on these minor occasions: our continual need to look our best. Printed Kurtis with creative neck patterns are a great option, as are anarkalis. Note
mine is a long shirt with wide trousers, both a soft gold colour with a reach sea-green and gold border on sleeves, hem of both shirt and trousers and a delicate gold border around my neck. the star of the show is my dupatta which is on the bigger side and has intricate gold embroidery with small mirrors. (I fell in love with the dupatta at first sight, bought it, and then got a suit tailored for it).
I got gold khussas to match with the dress and earring on the smaller but fancier side + a fancy anklet made of gold and pearls. I also got henna done. the henna is on the more fancier and heavy side as compared to my usual minimal design that I get.
bestie im so sorry this was so late but all of the little details sound SO beautiful i bet you stole everyone's show 😫😫😫 i hope you had a well snd blessed eid with your family my love!!!!💗🩷
