I stumbled across a website that has a lot of the covers of the early 2000s Disney Princess magazines. On top of being very nostalgic for me, it’s also got such fun additions like Esmeralda, Jane and Alice before the official Princess lineup was set in stone. Will probably start posting them by year in case anyone else is nostalgic for them
#they’re all in Norwegian which is interesting#someone has been uploading them in quite good resolution#the ‘Princess’ logo is in black for some reason and keeps being so for a few years which#is not a choice one would expect from the Disney princess brand#I’ve you’ve never heard of this I think the magazine is originally German and then published by Egmont in nearby countries#it’s still going I think

NUCCI AND GERVASIO AND ENNA?????? DISNEY COMIC FANS GETTING A REEALLLLY GOOD CHRISTMAS DINNER HOLY SHIT
Some interesting news from Lucca Comics. In December we will have on Topolino a new crossover event, Mirror Christmas, by Nucci, Gervasio and Enna, like we had Missing Christmas last year.
Quite a nice yearly occurrance, this Christmas event. Initially (2021) it was pretty timid (in Il bianco e il nero, by Nucci and Casty, PB caused a massive blizzard and it was present in all the stories, but there was no link regarding the plots). In 2022 it was a summer event (Minaccia dallo spazio, by Vacca), then in 2023, as I said earlier, it was a massive event, involving every story (sad that in France this month's SPG publishes only the main story), and now in 2024, this.
#egmont also only published the main story of lampa bisestile#and it wouldnt even have been difficult to do the other stories as wel but#egmont gotta egmont i guess#and france too

Unfortunately, bad news for all comic book fans, the genius artist for Disney comics, Maximino Tortajada Aguilar, passed away last week. He is from Spain and is the brother of the equally brilliant artist José Miguel Tortajada Aguilar who is also an artist working for Disney and Egmont editing Disney comics. While José Miguel worked more on Mickey Mouse comics, Maximino Tortajada Aguilar worked more on Donald Duck comics combining various styles depending on the publisher and given outcomes. He was born on 24-X-1961 in Barcelona, and he started his career back in 1980 and continued his career until this year. He also drew on the OG Ducktales comics, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Talespin and other Disney cartoons that made it into the comics, as he also drew for Egmont drawing for Dutch and Scandinavian comics. He is certainly one of my favorite artists and it is a great shame that he left us on August 20th of this year. Unfortunately, there is not much information about him, except on the Lambiek encyclopedia, and I learned about his death on the Inducks Discord from a friend of mine as well as here: https://www.tebeosfera.com/autores/tortajada_aguilar_maximino.html
lso bad news for all fans of Disney (Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck) comics. Yesterday, the genius artist for Disney comics, who did commission art, Sergio Asteriti, died. He was born on February 13, 1930 in Venice, and began his career in 1952. "Sergio Asteriti was born in Venice, and studied at the Scuola di Magistero d'Arte, section Publicity. In 1952, he moved to Milan, where he was employed by the advertising agency S.P.I.N.T.A. The agency folded two years later, and Asteriti turned to comics. He made his comics debut with the 'Bingo Bongo' series at the publishing house Alpe in 1955. He soon expanded his activities and did illustration work for various publishers and magazines. Asteriti joined the art studios of Roy d'Ami in the late 1950s. There, he drew for the British Fleetway agency ('Fun in Toyland', 'Freddie Frog', etc.) and for Il Corriere dei Piccoli, where he took over the 'Formichino' series from Roberto Sgrilli.
Asteriti has been an artist of Disney comics for Topolino since 1963. From 1974, he also took on the writing of Disney stories. He has mainly done stories with 'Mickey Mouse', but also other characters, such as 'Uncle Scrooge', 'Super Goof', 'Gilbert', 'Tanti Auguri', 'The Prince and the Pauper', 'Indiana Pips'." Taken from the Lambiek encyclopedia. He certainly contributed a lot to the Mickey Mouse universe. He died on August 27, 2024. Kudos to him for his truly outstanding work! Rest in peace! Amen.

Quack Pack Kids (Preteens and Teenagers) and Young Adults (Boys and Girls) - My sketches -Game, Well-To-Do-Duck, Wild, Friend(s), Cultured, Emotional, Obscure and Nostalgic Duck (s) and FREE SPACE DUCKS (plus geese, parrots, rooster and pigeon) - Duckvember - Quack Pack AU and Duckverse (Donald Duck and Ze Carioca comics, Ducktales, Darkwing Duck and Quack Pack) - My style
After a long time, I finally drew my drawings, a newer edition, related to my favorite characters, primarily children (preteens and teenagers) and young adults. I was inspired by the brilliant Alessandro Gottardo, who draws Donald Duck and his family, friends and rivals and publishes them on his Instagram page, and who previously worked on Topolino comics, so he encouraged me to draw my favorite characters in my own way, modeled on his sketches, but this time as a Quack Pack version or as I would imagine them in a Quack Pack version (my version of Quack Pack AU). Since I didn't have time to do everything related to this year's Duckvember, I drew more characters related to multiple themes since it's hard to decide who belongs to whom, but in my own way. I would draw more characters, but I will do that another time, because these are not the only ones who would appear in Quack Pack AU. Yes, I combined Italian, Danish, Dutch, Brazilian comics, Ducktales 1987, Darkwing Duck and the original Quack Pack, in my own way to be in one gathering. Family and friends of Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie.
And I'm posting on the occasion of Universal Children's Day which is celebrated on November 20th (along with June 1st as an alternative date and the first Sunday of October as Children's Week), so Happy Children's Day! The three separate drawings I drew represent mostly preteens and teenagers as they would look in my Quack Pack version, since it wouldn't fit all in one drawing. The first drawing shows Huey, Dewey and Louie, April, May and June Duck, Gosalyn Mallard and Webby Vanderquack in my style (taking mostly the Topolino style). The second drawing shows boys and mostly features Phooey and Kablooie Duck, Honker Muddlefoot, Zico and Zeca Carioca (nephews of Jose Carioca), Newton Gearloose (Gyro's nephew), Sonny Seagull (Garvey Gull from the Egmont comics), Gene the Genie (more of a boy), Gustav Goose, Doofus Drake, Dugan Duck (Fethry's nephew), and Shamrock Gander (Gladstone's nephew). Yes, Kabooie Duck is Donald's fifth lost nephew and wears mostly brown clothes and is in between my version of Phooey and Honker. Gustav is a friend of Donald's nephews in the Quack Pack, but in my headcanon he is Gus's distant nephew. The third drawing shows girls and young women who are still adolescents, but now adults, more like in their late twenties. This refers to Dickie Duck (Goldie's granddaughter), Loretta MacBridge (Brigitta's niece) and Matilda De Spell (Magica's younger cousin) who is located in the lower part of the drawing. The others are teenage girls Minima De Spell (Magica's niece), Vanessa (a friend of Donald's nephews from the Area 15 comics and mostly Dewey's and Louie's girlfriend), Susie McGuider (from the Quack Pack "Ducks by Nature") and an unknown duck from the Quack Pack from the episode "Shrunken Heroes". Since she doesn't have a name, I decided in my headcanon to name her Dottie Duck and she is Daisy's distant niece who appeared once in an old comic, but is now a teenager. I hope you like this and like these versions.
If you like these drawings and are fans of these characters, feel free to like and reblog this. Just don't use the same versions of mine from my drawings without mentioning me and without my permission. Thanks! Also Happy Children's Day and congratulations to Topolino on their 3600th anniversary edition!

A long time ago in a... well... galaxy full of ducks and mice
Hello there!
How should we celebrate Star Wars Day? Uhm... what about a ride along some italian Disney "parodies" of Star Wars? And I use quotation marks 'cause, it'll probably surprise you but, as of today, there is no real Disney parody of Star Wars.
There are, though, many stories that draw inspiration from some elements of Lucas' saga, starting from "Topolino e la spada di ghiaccio" (1984) amazing fantasy saga by Massimo de Vita that has nothing to do with Star Wars but gives us the first Disney character whose design's been heavily inspired by Darth Vader: the evil Prince of Mists!
The nefarious Prince of Mists from "Topolino e la spada di ghiaccio".
Scattered throughout the years there are many other stories inspired by Star Wars from Silvia Ziche's Topokolossal (1997):
Mickey Skyrunner weilds his legendary catalytic baguette as he faces off Pietro Galactus.
up to "Paperoga eroe dello spazio" (2013) a splendid, touching story by Roberto Gagnor and Claudio Sciarrone that culminates in one of the best plot twists ever on Topolino's pages (this story is the dream of any Galactic Empire fan ❤️).
Easy, Gorgius "heir" to Behlpost's throne... who do you think you are? Luke Skywalker? (Spoiler: you're not).
You may call it Behlpost, but that's Naboo royal palace for sure... with imperial guards as it seems 😁 (or are they forerunners of Operation Cinder sentinels? 🤔).
The only story (well, saga actually) that comes the most close to a real parody is Giorgio Pezzin's "Topolino e i signori della Galassia" (1991) which draws heavily inspiration from Star Wars expecially in the second episode.
The main character of this story is Goofy, who finds out to have inherited special powers from some old relative. Powers that make him the only one able to help the Galactic Confederation in their struggles against robots named "the Metals" led by general Titanio who seeks to eradicate every biological life form from the galaxy.
Jeez, Titanio's soldiers may be robots but their aim is as bad as Stormtroopers'... 🤣🤣
That's definitely the Battle of Hoth.
I know for sure there are also Star Wars inspired stories starring Josè Carioca out there, and McGreals' "May the farce be with you" (2005), but, unfortunately, I never had the chance to read them 'cause they've never been published in Italy.
But today's biggest obstacle to a Star Wars parody is Disney's auto-censorship. Yes, 'cause there's a strict rule at Disney that forbids authors to write parodies of other Disney franchises... so any parody of Star Wars (and Marvel) it's a very loud no-no. Sad :'(
We do know, though, that there are at least three finished legit parodies that never saw the light of day. One by Francesco Artibani that was supposed to be published on Topolino and two made-in-Egmont drawn by Cavazzano and Freccero.
Of the latter we can appreciate a beautiful illustration and a single page thanks to Freccero sharing them online a few years ago:
Alas, unless Disney change their internal directives (and there's no way it's gonna happen anytime soon) we'll never get the chance to see these or any other Star Wars inspired story in the near future.
But we can sure appreciate the older ones and if you wanna indulge yourself in something different today... these are the stories you're looking for ;)
May the Force be with you!
(And LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!!! 💪)

"After 25+ years Piranha Bytes has seemingly closed its doors. Known for their work in the action-RPG genre with the Gothic, Risen, and Elex series, their games may not have always been great but they had a unique heart and soul that will be sorely missed.
The small German developer had previously managed to stay afloat from publisher to publisher, from Egmont to JoWood to Deep Silver to THQ Nordic, despite never being a major commercial success, but has seemingly gone out of business as the latest victim in Embracer Group's widespread layoffs and budget cuts.
Key staff members had already left the company six months ago, and although the remaining team members had hoped to pitch their work to land with a new publisher, such salvation never came and they were forced to terminate business operations at the end of June, 2024."

Pov youre trying to get information about poe de spell but mission failed impossible because there is literally zero lore abouthim. Apparently he didnt even do anything in the original ducktales. He was just kinda there. I dont know why. It seems no one knows why. Those ducktales people were just like nehh i dont like Ratface but i still want a raven so they named the raven poe and gave him a little hat (kinda based) and why not hes magicas brother too now. They could not have thought more than 10 minutes about this. They just decided that the raven is magicas brother and now thats just a thing everywhere (except for in comics). Your choices have consequences guys.
You know at this point he could have just always been a raven and magica lied about it. There is so little lore on him i can make up the lore myself. What if he isnt biologically magicas brother but actually the son of the servant of magicas aunt and they grew up together so magica sees him as her brother? What if? What if thats just his backstory now? Now imagine that huh. It doesnt contradict the previous poe backstory, because there is none! Imagine that that backstory was created by disney and made into a graphic novel huh! Imagine that! Would be crazy! Now imagine if it would be currently widely published by Egmont as a separate release! Imagine that would be happening!!
#magica de spell#poe de spell#magica de spell and the book of doom#im only somewhere halfway but this is literally just a fanfic#people saying that ducktales twentyseventeen feels like a fanfic#which is true btw and thats cool because fanfiction is cool#but this one REEKS of it like no other#and not in a good way#reading this is like a fever dream holy shit

Marabelle Macaulay and her gorgeous hair from Ikeda Riyoko’s Collage (コラージュ, 1978), side story to Orpheus no Mado.
This manga was published in Seventeen in two parts (May and June 1978). It's about Wolfgang von Emmerich, the creepy kid, coincidentally meeting his sister Marabelle years later, and, uh, falling in love with her and starting an incestous train wreck that'd last for three generations.
Sure, Orumado also had its COINCIDENCES and FATE moments, but the amount of COINCIDENCES and convenient truths coming to light in this 125-page side story were too much for my taste. The entire thing feels like a soap opera, but with gorgeous art.
Oh Wolfie, don't look at me like that.
Apparently, this manga was included at the end of some Claudine editions, in an edition of her collected works (Shiroi Egmont one), and is also available as an e-book. ~~Don't look at me like I read it from the French scans...~~

Deutschribing Germany
Literature
Middle Ages (5th-15th centuries)
Medieval German literature can be divided into two periods: Old High German literature (8th-11th centuries) and Middle High German literature (12th-14th centuries). The only surviving works from the first period are the Hildebrandslied (Lay of Hildebrand), which is the earliest poetic text in German and tells of the tragic encounter in battle between a father and a son, and Muspilli, which deals with the fate of the soul after death and at the Last Judgment.
Middle High German literature saw a 60-year golden age known as mittelhochdeutsche Blütezeit, in which lyric poetry in the form of Minnesang—the German version of courtly love—blossomed thanks to poets such as Walther von der Vogelweide and Wolfram von Eschenbach. Another important genre during this time was epic poetry, of which the most famous example is the Nibelungenlied (The Song of the Nibelungs), which narrates the story of prince Siegfried and princess Kriemhild, among other characters.
Renaissance (15th-16th centuries)
Early New High German literature includes works such as Der Ring (The Ring) by Heinrich Wittenwiler, a 9,699-line satirical poem where each line is marked with red or green ink depending on the seriousness of the material, and Das Narrenschiff (Ship of Fools) by Sebastian Brant, a satirical allegory that contains the ship of fools trope.
Other important authors are satirist and poet Thomas Murner, humanist Sebastian Franck, and poets Johannes von Tepl and Oswald von Wolkenstein.
Baroque (16th-17th centuries)
The Baroque period is characterized by works that reflected the experiences of the Thirty Years’ War and tragedies (Trauerspiele) on Classical themes, the latter were written by authors such as Andreas Gryphius and Daniel Caspar von Lohenstein. The most famous work is Der abenteuerliche Simplicissimus (Simplicius Simplicissimus) by Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen, a picaresque novel that narrates the adventures of the naïve Simplicissimus.
Enlightenment (17th-18th centuries)
The most important writers of the Enlightenment are Christian Felix Weiße, Christoph Martin Wieland, Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, and Johann Gottfried Herder.
The Age of Reason saw the emergence of two literary movements: Empfindsamkeit (sentimental style) and Sturm und Drang (storm and stress). The first one intended to express true and natural feelings and featured sudden mood changes. The latter movement was characterized by individual subjectivity and extremes of emotion in response to the rationalism imposed by the Enlightenment.
Weimar Classicism (18th-19th centuries)
The main drivers behind Weimar Classicism, which synthesized ideas from Classicism, the Enlightenment, and Romanticism, were Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller, and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
During this period, Schiller published Die Bürgschaft (The Pledge), a ballad based on the legend of Damon and Pythias found in the Latin Fabulae, and Don Karlos (Don Carlos), a historical tragedy about Carlos, Prince of Asturias, while Goethe wrote Egmont, a play heavily influenced by Shakespearean tragedy, and Faust, a tragic play in which the main character sells his soul to the devil that is considered the greatest work of German literature.
Romanticism (18th-19th centuries)
Important Romantic writers include E. T. A. Hoffmann, author of Der Sandmann (The Sandman), a short story based on the mythical character of said name that puts people to sleep by sprinkling sand on their eyes; Heinrich von Kleist, who wrote Das Kätchen von Heilbronn (The Little Catherine of Heilbronn), a drama set in Swabia in the Middle Ages; Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff, author of Das Marmorbild (The Marble Statue), a novella about a man who struggles to choose between piety and a world of art, and Novalis, author of Hymnen an die Nacht (Hymns to the Night), a collection of six poems.
Folk tales collected by the Brothers Grimm became very popular during the Romantic period, as they represented a pure form of national literature and culture.
Biedermeier and Young Germany (19th century)
The Biedermeier period contrasts with the Romantic era and is best exemplified by poets Adelbert von Chamisso, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, and Wilhelm Müller.
Young Germany was a youth movement whose main proponents were Karl Gutzkow, Ludolf Wienbarg, and Theodor Mundt.
Realism and Naturalism (19th century)
The most representatives realist authors are Gustav Freytag, Theodor Fontane, and Theodor Storm, while Gerhart Hauptmann was the most important naturalist writer.
Weimar literature (20th century)
During the Weimar Republic, writers such as Erich Maria Remarque, Heinrich Mann, and Thomas Mann presented a bleak look at the world and the failure of politics and society.
Expressionism (20th century)
As a modernist movement, Expressionism presented the world solely from a subjective perspective, distorting it for emotional effect. Famous authors include novelists Alfred Döblin and Franz Kafka, playwrights Ernst Toller and Georg Kaiser, and poets August Stramm and Else Lasker-Schüler.
Neue Sachlichkeit (20th century)
Neue Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity) arose as a reaction against expressionism and was characterized by its political perspective on reality and portrayal of dystopias in an emotionless reporting style, showing cynicism about humanity. Authors associated with this movement include Erich Kästner, Hans Fallada, and Irmgard Keun.
Nazi Germany (1933-1945)
During the Nazi regime, some authors went into exile, while others submitted to censorship. The former, who either were of Jewish ancestry or opposed the regime for political reasons, include writers Alice Rühle-Gerstel and Anna Seghers, playwright Bertolt Brecht, and poet and novelist Hermann Hesse/Emil Sinclair.
Those who stayed and engaged in inner emigration include writer Friedrich Reck-Malleczewen, poet and essayist Gottfried Benn, writer Hans Blüher, and poet and novelist Ricarda Huch.
Post-war literature (20th century)
The most famous authors in West Germany were Edgar Hilsenrath, Günter Grass, Heinrich Böll, and Group 47, a group of participants in writers’ meetings invited by Hans Werner Richter.
East German writers include Christa Wolf, Heiner Müller, Reiner Kunze, and Sarah Kirsch.
Contemporary literature (21st century)
Fantasy and science fiction authors include Andreas Eschbach, Frank Schätzing, and Wolfgang Hohlbein. Some of the most important poets are Aldona Gustas, Hans Magnus Enzensberger, and Jürgen Becker. Thriller is best represented by Ingrid Noll. Fiction novelists include Herta Müller, Siegfried Lenz, and Wilhelm Genazino.

I don't want to bother too much the userbase, but, I have something to ask my fellow northern, central and eastern europeans (basically everyone from a country were Disney is published by an Egmont subsidiary... plus Greece).
What's the deal with Mickey Mystery (Mickey Mysterier/Ein Fall für Micky/Dekkari-Mikki/Mikke krim/Musses mysterier/Μίκυ Μυστήριο)? What was this projects about? A handful of stories were published here in Italy too, on Topomistery, but the title mostly published italian (or Gottfredson) reprints. I can see that a lot of stories were produced, outlasting every eponimous title. Were the stories good?

Star Wars: Alien Achieve (Canon)
“Star Wars: Alien Achieve” is a Canon reference book that details various species in the Star Wars galaxy. The book is presented from the in-universe perspective of the Graf Archive, as a restoration of an unidentified artist's journal. It was written by Natalie Clubb and Katrina Pallant, with illustrations by Tim McDonagh, and first published by Egmont UK Ltd on October 4, 2018 for the United Kingdom. Disney–Lucasfilm Press published an American edition on April 30, 2019.
New Information: Although an accident left him almost fully cybernetic, he still bore the trademark snakelike yellow eyes with slit pupils, flat nose, and elongated ears of his species. Generally, the Kaleesh have red skin, although they usually hide their faces beneath masks, and have an interesting way of walking on their toes as opposed to their entire feet.
