Almost 1 in 3 women take the pill to regulate their period, but the bigger question should be why does your period need regulating in the first place? ——- BEING ON THE PILL IS NOT A REAL PERIOD —— A real period is a withdrawal bleed from the hormones estradiol and progesterone (made by your ovaries), whereas a pill bleed is a withdrawal bleed from synthetic hormones (pharmaceutical steroids) such as ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel. While these steroids are chemically similar to hormones, they are not true hormones and they are NOT the same ———- Are there hormonal imbalances (progesterone/ testosterone/ estrogen ratios), is it because of thyroid /adrenal/ ovarian axis dysregulation, are you deficient in certain nutrients, minerals and vitamins (zinc, iron, magnesium, Vitamin D) do you have gut health issues (gut dysbiosis or leaky gut) or maybe your stress levels (real, perceived, emotional, environmental, physical and chemical stress) lie at the root cause? ——— Until you start addressing the underlying issues, taking the pill will only be a temporary fix for a much deeper issue and many times being on the pill can make matters worse (especially for your liver and gut microbiome); If the issue is hormone dysregulation then taking a synthetic hormone isn’t going to fix why your body is under or over producing certain hormones that pertain to your ovulatory function ——— A real period happens approximately every 28 days (but anywhere between21 and 35 days is normal), because that’s how long it takes for you ovaries to make estradiol and then to ovulate and then to go on to make progesterone ——- The timing of a real periods is truly about the healthy functioning of healthy ovaries (whether you want to be a mama-bear or not); birth control pills do not address ovulatory dysfunction! ——- #briannaapproved #birthcontrol #hormonehealth #periodhealth #fertilityawarenessmethod #functionalmedicine #hormones #femalehormones #ovulation #egghealth #healthyperiods #teamrootcause (at Ocean Grove, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1_wTmkgKoz/?igshid=jr4eamkmydp0

EGGS EGGS EGGS 🍳 I’m (Steph) obsessed with eggs at the moment - there isn’t really a day that goes past where I haven’t had them for breakfast, lunch or a snack. Thank god we aren’t still preaching the ‘you’re only allowed 2 eggs a week’ business. Research has shown that the cholesterol in eggs has almost no impact on your cholesterol levels, hence this rule getting an overhaul in the recent years. Eggs are high in so many good nutrients like lutein and zeaxanthin (good for your 👀), choline, all nine essential amino acids, omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin A, D, E and B12. Plus, they’re cheap AF. Shakshuka is my go-to when I’m feeling a little fancy, otherwise trusty hard boiled eggs on toast or by themselves as a snack, or an omelette for a last minute meal.
