Jean Josquin ‘Kenne’ Grégoire (b. 1951) creates depth in this still life using the old trompe-l’oeil tradition. Our ‘eye is deceived’ by a painted door with a round opening. Cropping and overlapping, reinforce the sense of three-dimensionality. Grégoire allows some objects, such as the tea towel and flowers, to protrude from the hole as if you can almost grasp them. Other objects, like the mask and the wooden boxes, partially disappear behind the edge of the opening. The painted shadows also contribute to the sense of depth and verisimilitude. Grégoire often uses a 17th-century painting technique, namely, colour glazes applied in several layers over a grisaille underdrawing. However, he generally does this with contemporary acrylic paint. His subjects and themes are diverse, ranging from figures referencing the commedia dell’arte to situations in which humans are emphatically absent: beds that have been slept in, uncleared tables, and ruins, as well as desolate classical buildings, trompe-l’oeils and still lifes in unusual perspective. An elementary feature of Grégoire’s work is a slight sense of alienation – he wants to amaze and entertain, to create illusions, not destroy them. Grégoire comes from a family of artists: his father sculptor Paul Grégoire (1915-1988), his older sister Hélène a painter, and his brother Pépé a sculptor (b. 1946 and 1950, respectively). Kenne studied at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam (1967-1973).

My most memorable encounter with aerospace is when my friend started the KLM study to become a pilot. I visited him on campus which is next to Groningen airport in Eelde. So I brought with me a sticker of his class. Every class designs it’s own logo and they make it into stickers and all other sort of stuff. But to go back to my encounter with aerospace, it was when he showed me around campus and told me all about his courses and how you learn how to operate a plane. What was so impressive to me is that the study is only two years long. The first year you mostly study theory and take a lot of tests and the second year you start to fly more and more. I was really surprised by how well taught out a plane is. Everything has been selected in detail and it’s really impressive how self-operating a plane is.
He also showed me around the classes and you can see that they also have a lot of models of airplanes and different parts that they can touch and see in real life. I believe that it helps them to memories all of the information they have to study and I feel the same about the collection of aerospace in Delft. If we find a way to show al the stuff better and maybe make it more practical to learn from it. It can really help students understand all the parts of an airplane.

dragon eater - More on the game and it's world
129 AE era.
The time of humans has nearly long vanished. In just a short twenty years, humans have nearly been wiped from the face of the world of Gaim (Gai-me).
Small groups live hidden from dragons in dense forests, harsh deserts, or the coldest of Icelands. The small communities survive traveling from one place to another and splitting up, unsure if they shall see the other again.
Gaim is now four continents. The four continents are the lairs of the primary dominant species of dragon. Golna the lair of the Lord of Thunder Ozun lies in the far west. Ernt the lair of the Lord of Earth Surd lies in the far east. Deep south of the continent of ice Cield (see-eeld) is the Lair of the Ice dragon Lord Prylah (Pri-la). North Lies the land of fire Avau, The Lord of Fire Mehtah (Me-ta) reins over the land.
The Four continents hold a regular human hunt near every year's end. Each begins vastly hunting and killing as many as they can. These hunts have been a thing that humans dread every time they approach and now a new one is beginning to start again.
However... this one will change the fates of humans.. A being lost from years ago.. the last hope to even the odds is stirring.. spending years trying to break free of its prison in Surd it may get its help.
Surd: The Continent of Ruins. Gaim used to be one continent.. A great war with humans started here, the first battle against dragons nearly a hundred years ago started on this land. The humans were easily able to sweep away the dragons with their vast technology.. for a time. An unknown thing happened.. Gaim was split into four continents by a Fallen Light From the sky. The light wiped out much of the humans and with it destroyed their ability to use their powerful technology. Nearly weaponless and powerless the dragons took this as a sign from their god they were protected and destroyed humans, much worse they also ate them realizing they could heal themselves faster doing so. This only pushed dragons to fight harder and destroy or eat everyone they could find. Thus the Time of the Fallen was set into play.
Now, time far after the Human Dragon Wars it is the Fallen Times and a small encampment has been made in ruins hidden in the jungle undisturbed by dragons for some time. This encampment holds the start of destiny for one traveler, and the awakening for another.

Bron: CBS Read the full article

A clever beef in the Netherlands has become an internet sensation after it managed to open a lock on a gate and escape from a cattle farm.
The animal, named Jasmijn, was one of four cows owned by a local farmer near the town of Eelde. The farmer had installed a lock on the gate to prevent livestock escaping, but this didn't stop Jasmijn.
The cow was seen opening the lock with her tongue and quickly scampering out of the farm. She was later found with another cow, who had also managed to escape.
The farmer was surprised to see his cows had managed to escape, but was also impressed by the cleverness of the animals. He posted a video of Jasmijn opening the lock on social media, which quickly went viral.
The clip has been viewed thousands of times and has earned Jasmijn the nickname ‘Lockpick Cow’. The farmer has now decided to keep the gate open, as he believes that Jasmijn will not try to escape again.
This isn’t the first time that cows have shown signs of intelligence. Recent research has suggested that cows can understand human emotions and have complex social lives.
