There are several factors that contribute to foster kids aging out of care being more likely to experience homelessness:
1. Lack of Stable Support Systems: Foster youth may lack a stable support network of family and friends, making it harder to find housing and assistance.
2. Limited Life Skills: Some foster youth may not have had the opportunity to develop essential life skills, like budgeting and finding housing.
3. Education Gaps: Educational disruptions can limit their access to employment opportunities, increasing the risk of homelessness.
4. Emotional and Mental Health Challenges: Foster youth often face trauma and mental health issues, which can affect their ability to maintain stable housing.
5. Aging Out Challenges: Aging out of the system typically occurs at 18, leaving them without a safety net and transitional support.
6. Lack of Financial Resources: Financial instability and limited resources can make securing housing difficult.
7. Discrimination and Stigma: Foster youth may face discrimination in housing and employment due to their backgrounds.
8. Lack of Access to Healthcare: Limited access to healthcare and social services can exacerbate health issues and increase the risk of homelessness.
Addressing these challenges through improved support systems, education, and mental health services can help reduce the risk of homelessness for foster youth aging out of care.

WEB SITE HELPFUL TO WRITERS This is a series of posts which, I think, will be beneficial to writers. But first, I would like to include my usual warning about using websites. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH. Whenever you check a website you are, in my opinion and I talk from experience, being put on a list for sale. So, expect the possibility of being bombarded by…

#don't you think it's so odd how so many palestinians on tumblr were just minding their own business and having fun#and all of a sudden the genocide started and we started dedicating all our time#to helping and start educating people#only for people to start questioning us and harassing us in the most parasocial ways#and now about half of us are deciding not to share about our personal lives or our interests anymore#because we can't be granted the opportunity to actually have personalities outside of our suffering.#a look into our personal lives is a privilege and all of you abused it#all of this is due to the fact that none of you consider us as actual human beings#even if you're “allies” to the palestinian cause. you still dehumanize us to hell and back#i wish you all could see me as someone who is just like you.

The idea that uni protesters are "elitist ivy-league rich kids larping as revolutionaries" on Twitter and Reddit and even here is so fucking funny to me if you actually know anything about the student bodies at these unis. Take it from someone who's going to one of the biggest private unis in the US, 80% of the peers I know are either from the suburbs or an apartment somewhere in America, children of immigrants, or here on a student visa. I've heard about one-percenter students, but I've never met one in person. Like, don't get me wrong, the institution as a whole is still very privileged and white. I've talked with friends and classmates about feeling weird or dissonant being here and coming from such a different background. But in my art program, I see BIPOC, disabled, queer, lower-income students and faculty trying to deconstruct and tear that down and make space every day. So to take a cursory glance at a crowd of student protesters in coalitions that are led by BIPOC & 1st/2nd-gen immigrant students and HQ'd in ethnic housings and student organizations and say, "ah. children of the elite." Get real.
#also idk how to tell you this but even if it were true. wealthy children potentially sacrificing their educational careers to protest is#a good thing actually. idk how to tell you that caring about people from other nations is good#personal#“this war has nothing to do with most students cuz nobody's getting drafted” idk how to explain to you that we should be angry#that our tuitions of 10s of thousands of dollars that we pay every year for an education is being used to fund a genocidal campaign#also the implication that if you go to a uni institution you are automatically privileged by participation no matter your bg#i didn't /want/ to go to this school. i was supposed to go to a school with an art/animation program. but i realized my immigrant#parents have been working their whole lives to get me here. and turning the opportunity down would be a disservice to their sacrifice#this is getting into convos of “what 2nd gen kids owe their parents” which is different for everyone but. yeah#i just get pissed off at seeing people misrepresenting student bodies as “wealthy” and “privileged” and “elite” when it's such a blatant li#i remember a year ago a friend told me they can't fly home to hong kong for winter break because the plane tickets are too expensive#so they have to find temporary housing around the area#last quarter for a film doc class my film partner made a doc on a small group of marxist grad students from india discussing praxis#during a rally a few months ago in response to police presence the coalition invited palestinian students to speak about their experiences#and lead songs and read poems they wrote. these are STUDENTS. are they elitist too?#this is not to disregard my own personal privilege either.#this whole narrative's just to rationalize a lack of empathy to me. seeing a 19yo student get shot by a rubber bullet and your first#reaction is “HAW! HAW! bet richy rich didn't see THAT coming when she put on her terrorist hood!”#newsflash. these big uni campuses are HAUNTED by the violence of past protests and revolutions and police brutality. we know.#why do you think these coalitions have been making reinforced barricades at record speed

A new study by the education watchdog Available to All reveals that school attendance zones and selective admission policies in the U.S. often exclude students of color and low-income families from elite public schools, thereby reinstating levels of segregation reminiscent of 1968. The study criticizes the use of residential addresses for school assignments, which supports "educational redlining" that favors affluent families, leading to systemic inequalities in access to advanced educational programs. Available to All calls for legislative reforms to protect enrollment rights and recommends that school districts minimize the importance of geographical boundaries to combat segregation and improve school access for all. The resurgence of school segregation to levels seen in 1968 is a stark reminder of how deeply systemic inequality is entrenched in our education system. Policies that favor affluent families and perpetuate educational redlining deny many Black and low-income students the opportunity to access quality education.
but listen to the racists and coons, black people are just making shit up and "playing the victim/race card."

Wilson took over Rubius' setup today and refused to let him move the camera, going so far as to grab his arm with his tiny little paws MULTIPLE times so Rubius would keep petting him 🥹💕
Wilson is my favorite streamer.
#Rubius#Wilson#Wilson the Cat#I hope you're all doing alright#Please remember to have respect for one another#And be kind#Racism is not welcome in our community#It should never be brushed off as drama#and discussions about racism shouldn't be discouraged regardless of the circumstance#Please also remember that not every not every single person needs to weigh in on matters that aren't relevant to them#It's always better to listen and uplift voices rather than speaking over them#We're blessed with a global community with a variety of people from different backgrounds#And as I've said before#sometimes miscommunications may arise because of cultural differences and/or language barriers#we should use these moments as opportunities to listen and educate ourselves#And listening to affected communities is what matters most right now#July 17 2023

Also, I don't wanna hear shit from white women being like, "Oh, Black women got this one for us." Black women have continuously been showing up for everybody and doing their best to protect everybody while nobody shows up for them. White women (myself included) who want to see this woman take office need to be showing up with just as much fucking gusto as Black women have always been showing up for us despite the fact that we don't fucking deserve it. Collect your mamas who voted third party in 2016. Collect the 53% of white women who voted for that fucking traffic cone in 2016 because, "I want to see a woman president, just not THAT woman." This is their chance to see a woman president and I don't give a fuck if they like this one, I don't care what their reasoning is (because it's probably racist af). Have the uncomfortable conversations. Sit in that discomfort. Learn something from it. Election day is 104 days away and early voting starts in September, we don't have time to do anything but focus on this. We can bully her after she takes office.
#i don't even think she needs to be bullied#kamala has shown that she is capable of learning and growing and changing her opinion based on new education#she has critical and logical thinking skills which have been lacking in politics for a long ass time#no politician is a good person but we can give her the opportunity to show us that she can do some good by everybody#because that other guy will only do good by men who look like him and women he wants to fuck

a pattern i've noticed:
tumblr user who is probably an antisemite: we need to call out liberal zionism!! we need to humiliate the liberal zionists who dare to share the same spaces as us!!!
people in the notes: so far the liberal zionists we have found are several jewish bloggers who have stated that they are against zionism several times, but they've talked a lot about left-wing antisemitism so they're clearly zionists!!
#look i'm not jewish so i'm not going to have the best or most informative method of approaching this issue#so go see what actual jewish people who are educating people for free are saying about this#but like. CHECK YOUR FUCKING BIASES. PLEASE#some of the so called “zionists” are just jewish people who asked you to think about what you're saying#and some of you guys took that as an attack instead of a learning opportunity#anyways. listen to jewish people#antisemitism#anti zionisim#politics

It's coming along!!!
Original intent was to have the sleeves as Part of the cloak, but that got complicated because the way the sleeve holes like.. mobius strip around themselves
So i did the most logical thing and made a whole tunic. It did not... Well. It hasn't gone Exactly as planned
And i feel like it looks Way too much like a cutsey little apron dress which i hope i can mitigate with Edging and Accessories.. and i Did, as usual, struggle getting the sleeves on, but either way it's something i Can Wear like Physically and I think my first successful complete garment! So!
From here i'm going to add edges to the sleeves, maybe see if i can fudge taking them in a bit as well without deratching them, add the edge to the bottom of the tunic and make some kinda Shash Belt with one of my remaining fabrics and figure out what the Hell I'm gunna do for the hat.....
I have until friday it's fiNE
#monster noises#fucking work committee making me spend a week on a poster i'm so frustrated#i gotta back off that committee as soon as i'm able it eats up Way too much of my time#it's a good cause i like habing the opportunity to educate myself and others but#i can't like.. spiritually afford to loose a week on average to a fucking class project i don't get paid to do#regardless#it's time to take a break for dinner!!#meatball time!!!!!#people#creatures features
