"Men arent inherently evil and deserve to be able to express emotion and have healthy relationships" doesnt mean "be nice to assholes or people oppressing you". I think Im understanding why those get conflated, of your automatic thought is that all men are shitlords.

Of course you dont have to be nice to assholes. Especially if theyre being sexist but also in general. Its not your job to be kind to people who are being awful to you. (It might be praisewothy in going above and beyond sometimes maybe, but theres no virtue in letting yourself be stepped on).

It does mean, imo, treating non-asshole men the way you would treat a woman in the same position. Like, share platonic intimacy at whatever is a safe normal pace for you. Mutual support and sharing of fun and of problems. Yknow. Normal friendship stuff.

And no making fun of their masculinity, no telling them not to cry or questioning their sexuality or any kind of "men arent allowed and Im allowed to mock because gender rules say so". To do that is to uphold the patriarchy against men, rather than tearing it down together. No upholding rules for what any gender must or mustnt do or be, not for anyone. Everyone can cry and fight and be strong or vulnerable can be complex can be caring can be independent, commandeering or supportive can be anything.

You dont have to immediately trust people either. You dont have to beg for respect, if its not there thats not your problem. Just, when you meet a guy whos decent, be decent back, thats basically the tldr.

“in order to create loving males we need to love males” means teach boys that they can be themselves without being less of a man. it means being encouraging and nurturing of their emotions so they don’t become cold and hateful. it means showing boys, early in their lives, that they have value outside of what our society deems proper masculinity. what it doesn’t mean is that it’s our job to handhold men who see women as walking sex toys through the concept of empathy, and maybe if we’re really really nice to them and don’t say things that hurt their feelings they’ll stop killing us for saying no
