The First Crusade (1096–1099) was a pivotal military expedition initiated by Western European Christians in response to Pope Urban II’s call at the Council of Clermont in 1095. Aimed at reclaiming Jerusalem and other holy sites in the Levant from Muslim control, the Crusade was driven by a combination of religious zeal, desire for adventure, and political motives. Led by prominent nobles and knights...

Here I am, raggedy hiking clothes, no makeup, a little sunburnt and I feel more alive than I have in many years. Sometimes this trip has been really challenging. I’m alone, I booked my stays without really understanding the different regions, communication has occasionally been rough, etc. but I’m really proud that I got myself here. If this kind of trip seems out of reach for any of you, it did to me too but I’m here because I’m full of piss and vinegar and I hate being told I can’t do something. So I’m in Greece because of spite, sort of. I’m hiking nearly everyday, I’m eating well, and I’m putting myself into situations that can be uncomfortable. But the payoffs have been worth the awkward situations I keep finding myself in. I’ve interviewed a Greek family about plants and herbs, I’ve trekked to mountain villages that have never seen American tourists, I’ve stood up for myself when people were fucking awful, I’ve been to archaeological sites that I’ve been dreaming about since I was a little girl. I just feel kind of radiant here. I’m almost to the apex of my trip here, Delphi, the spot I’m most excited to see, and I can’t wait to get immersed in the site and see what plants are growing there, and get inspired to do some new things. If you could ask the oracle at Delphi any question, what would you ask?

Şanlıurfa to ormiańskie: Urhai, kurdyjskie: Riha, arabskie: Ar-Ruha, staro-greckie: Orra, Bizantyjczycy nazywali miasto Justinopolis, łacińskie: Edessa, natomiast turecka nazwa to Urfa gdzie później dodano przedrostek Şanlı oznaczającego wielki, zwycięski.

Her parti kendi adayını belirliyor.
