Your head rests on Eddie’s thigh, cheek pressed against the cotton sweatpants serving as his pajamas. His fingertips dance along your shoulder in comforting circles, the other hand digging into a bag of peanut M&Ms and dropping several into his mouth at once. 

Harris is sleeping in bed, his little eyes having drifted closed halfway through his second bedtime story. You’d laughed softly, kissed his forehead, and closed the door as quietly as you could. 

On the TV screen, Phoebe Buffay prepares to give birth to triplets while Joey’s learned that his sympathy pains are actually kidney stones. 

The candy shell crunching ceases as Eddie speaks over the characters’ dialogue. “You ever think about that?” he asks, jerking his chin towards the monitor. 

“Having three babies at once?” You wrinkle your nose, tugging the fleece blanket up a bit higher. You adjust your position so you can see his chocolate-smudged lips. “Only in my nightmares.”

Eddie laughs, but his smile doesn’t quite reach his doe eyes. “N-No, just, like…having a baby?” His front teeth scrape his lower lip nervously while he awaits your response. 

You shrug. “Yeah, I mean, I definitely want to have kids with you. And I know Harris is dying for a sibling to play with,” you add teasingly, though your words are true. He’d come home from school last week claiming that his friend Joshua’s mommy was having another baby, lamenting that it wasn’t fair because Joshua already had a sister. “I can’t wait to add some more Munsons to our little family.”

“Okay, yeah,” Eddie nods, swallowing thickly. “So, um, what exactly are we waiting for?”

The question makes you sit up, pushing yourself with your palms, so you can look him in the eyes. “We’ve only been married for a few months…” you trail off, unsure what to say next, but it doesn’t matter because Eddie leans in and silences you with his lips on yours. Tiny, passionate kisses, his smile rendering him unable to draw them out longer. 

“I’m ready whenever you are,” he murmurs, nose gently bumping yours. Four fingers are tucked behind your ear, his thumb delicately grazing your cheek. “There’s no rush, ‘kay? No Baby Munsons until you’re totally on board.”

“What if I’m ready, too?” You kiss him, body buzzing with nerves just from having this conversation. An excited giggle slips out, and you drape your arms over his shoulder to straddle his waist. “What if I want to start trying?”

Eddie throws his head back and laughs; he swears he’s hit the jackpot with you. “Then I say…to hell with those pesky birth control pills.” He kisses you again, peppering them all over your face and neck. “C’mon, Sweetheart. Let’s make a baby.”

It’s a few weeks later when Eddie breezes through the apartment door after work, kicking off his Reeboks in the general direction of the hall closet. His weary expression shifts to a joyous one when he sees you walk out of the bedroom with a knowing grin on your face. 

“What’s that little smirk for, hmm?” he teases, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you towards him. An autumn chill sticks to his leather jacket; you shiver as the cold fabric brushes your bare arms. “And where’s the other troublemaker?”

“Harris is at Wayne’s for the night,” you tell him, stepping back slightly and briefly lacing your fingers with his before grabbing something from the back pocket of the jeans you immediately changed into after work. “This little line means that I’m currently ovulating,” you quickly explain, not wanting him to confuse it with another important test. 

Eddie’s grin could split his cheeks in half. “So…so that means…” his eyes shine bright with anticipation. “It’s baby-making time?”

You giggle at his phrasing. “Yes, Eddie,” you confirm through peals of laughter. “It’s baby-making time.”

Eddie’s lips crash onto yours in an instant. He groans into the kiss, hands instinctively grabbing your ass to pull you closer. Your own fingers grasp his jacket by the zipper teeth, tugging it off of his body and letting it fall to the floor unceremoniously. His hands snake underneath your sweater, eyes widening when he touches supple skin rather than the underwire of a bra.

🍄How do you come up with ideas for your stories?

A variety of ways, sometimes I get inspired to write an AU based on an episode of a show, or a novel etc. Or sometimes my brain just pops ideas into my head.

🍉Are you a pantser or a plotter?

I am very much a plotter. It's also why I don't often get much written because I need SO much to be planned before I can write.

🍒What genres/tropes do you find yourself using most often?

Fluff, 5+1, Domestic Slice of Life, AU's - I am an absolute sucker for AU's.

🥝Who are your literary influences, and have they shaped your own writing?

As much of a problematic person as they were, Anne Rice's first 3 vampire chronicles books were the books that got me thinking...oh I really wanna do this kind of thing. J R R Tolkien's descriptions very much shaped my own (i used to write horrifically long paragraphs). Neil Gaiman inspired my shorter style, quirky dialogue with inside jokes aimed at the reader.

🥕What's your favorite fic you've written, and why?

My favourite fic is a toss up between "Your Arms Are Like Corset Strings" (9-1-1, Buddie) and "Rainbow Coloured Monstrosity" (9-1-1: Lone Star, Tarlos).

The rest I'm gonna put under a cut haha or this post is gonna get SUPER long.

🥨How do you overcome writer's block?

When I work it out I'll tell you haha. I don't think I've ever managed beyond just pushing through and hate-smashing at the keyboard, or just waiting for the inspiration to come back by itself.

🍕What's your favorite comment you've received on a fic?

Honestly as cliche as it might sound, all comments I get are my favourites. I couldn't pick any specific ones, I enjoy comments so much.

🌭Do you have any writing rituals to help 'get in the zone'?

I use a lot of notebooks, I also get really sad and make powerpoint presentations of planning. Then I either listen to music, or put on some series that Ive seen enough times that it can be background noise.

🍔What's a headcanon that hasn't made it into a published fic yet?

I HC a few things for different people but they're not exactly huge things, but have a few examples. I headcanon that Alec Hardy is a huge fantasy novel fan. I headcanon that Eddie Diaz has chronic pain in his shoulders. I headcanon that Aziraphale hates the scent of pine.

🍭What's been your most challenging story to write, and why?

I'm writing a huge multi-part reincarnated soulmates AU, in which the soulmates meet each other throughout history and have different names etc. and it's...taking me soooo long. And honestly it's just because it so long and has so many historical points I need to research hahaha.

🍬What's a genre/trope you've never written, but might in future?

I'm...not sure tbh. Theres a lot of genre's/tropes I don't like or I'm not comfortable with so won't ever touch. But the ones I do like, I've attempted or I am in the process of attempting.

🍩What advice would you give to aspiring fic writers?

Just go for it. Find something you really, really want to see written and write it, because at the end of the day you write for yourself first and foremost. If you try to write to please everyone you'll stress yourself out too much.

🌶How dependent are you on feedback, good or bad?

Bad feedback is never warranted. I do not write for profit so therefore do not need amazon style reviews. Nor do I ask for constructive criticism. I appreciate if someone wants to tell me they like what I wrote though.

🥑What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on a bunch of things: Doctor Who x Good Omens crossover - The events of "The Giggle" with Crowley tagging along. Broadchurch Whump - 2 entries, poor Alec is getting tormented. Broadchurch x Good Omens x Rab C Nesbitt crossover - Alec, Crowley and Davina are identical triplets. Shenanigans ensue. Buddie birthday gift for someone dear to me. Buddie soulmates AU.

🍹How do you decide a story is ready to post?

I finish writing it haha. I let it come to a natural stopping point and then try not to over think it.

🍊What's a story that changed significantly from its initial idea to the final draft?

My reincarnated soulmates AU. I've changed so many historical points and condensed some and completely scrapped a whole half of it haha.

🥠What's your approach to world-building?

Powerpoints. Powerpoints and mind maps haha. If I'm going AU I will plan it like I'm Tolkien creating middle earth haha XD.

🍎How do you prioritize which stories to work on when you have multiple ideas?

I don't. My brain goes brrr and tries to plan all of them at once to the point I can't work on ANY of them haha.

🌮How do you balance the desire to write for yourself versus the desire to write for an audience?

I have been writing on and off since I was 13, and I used to write entirely for the audience and it stressed me out. Whilst I enjoy audience responses and like to receive comments confirming that they enjoyed what I wrote, if I don't like it, I won't post it, but if I enjoyed what I wrote I will love it regardless.

Parent Eddie PT 4 I have so many headcanons Definitely not Julie, sorry lady but you missed out on a chance with all of this Personally I've been using some ideas of a EllenXEdward child, but it's always fun to expand on that with Edward X Yin/Bruce/Ethan/Penguin ships I'm totally open for that Ellen X Edward It's been on their minds as Edward already gave up on the whole "Riddler" schtick, mainly because what happened with him and Julie was one of the main driving factors that still hurts. It's one of those "it just sort of happened" scenarios as the two talk and talk, weighing out a lot of the things required for a child, not to mention things that aren't even brought up. Ellen is more work focused. Plus..."how many times have you been kidnapped, gassed, and hurt, Yinsy? Technically speaking." "Touché." Do they dare? How would the child turn out? Oh god what if it's triplets?! They hold off on a lot of family rearing until one day, they just go for it. Just one. And if things don't work out...well then they tried and that's the end of it. Course, Eddie's gotta keep a close eye on Yinsy since she wants to be out in the action. Even making a whole checklist before she goes out to do minor things about not getting herself into anything dumb. She's so headstrong and stubborn, something he admires and loathes at the same time. In the end, however, is when things really start to pick up. Their child being a good blend of Yin and Edward's features, definitely taking a lot more after Yin in personality, but also having Eddie's smirk -Smart, stubborn, charismatic, maybe a little too sarcastic Yin worrying about whether she would come home or not to her child, but also having them understand that mommy's work is very important Lot of stakes for the commissioner's kid really But it's all worth it to see Eddie be such a nervous parent because he really is trying and to see the smile on her child's face when mommy walks through the door Also the idea that their kid doesn't even like riddles or puzzles, but they love spending time with their dad. It's not because they don't get them...the issue is more of how predictable Eddie can be with these games. They want something more challenging. And that's where the problems begin/ Something is off but they can't put their fingers on it. (From personal headcanons) Julie had called Edward a "psychopath" and those words certainly haunted him as he looks at his child with Yin for anything. -Playing onto the idea of "what if my kid might be smarter than me? No, they're just a kid. They have a different thought process. It's fine." -Eddie and Yin believing their child can do no wrong. They've practically gotten all the good traits from their parents! Or they just don't want to admit it even if it's in front of their eyes. -Their child is smart, good grades, practically the perfect student much to their pride. Personality wise, avoids the other children...okay well it's tough to make new friends or some prefer their own company. That's okay. -...maybe their kid is a bully to other bullies, but they're standing up for the other underdogs...the whole point is not being caught by the teachers...At least they're making friends...right? But then again...children only show what their parents want to see. -Maybe Bruce or Ethan can see it, but can't really describe it or won't bring it up as Eddie and Yin adore their child just as much as the child adores their parents. -Could just be nothing. Children are an enigma all on their own that not even Riddler can solve. Same conversation for Trans Eddie x Yin or any other s/o, but still a lot to debate either for adoption or a surrogate or even if Eddie would even agree to carrying. And he's is just so...thin. Definitely would be picky about who the donor would be and Eddie is ready to critic anything. But, the idea of a moody pregnant Eddie is pretty funny. "I loathe you." "Awww. I love you too."

man edward would absolutely look the other way for his kid being a bully. just loving his kid too much to think that they can actually do something that wrong--surely the other kids must deserve it. edward himself is vengeful and he wouldn’t see that as a flaw if he thought the other parties involved caused a problem first.

dunno about ellen, tho. she learned her lesson about not paying attention to “personal” trouble in multiple different ways with rojas and ethan. plus i think the batman would be keeping an eye on things--not expecting the kid to be trouble, and he’d mostly trust yin’s judgement, but riddler did have a temper and bruce is particularly protective of children. no abuse on his watch, though he’d worry less about that when time went on. so he’d probs notice if the kid was developing a bit of a mean streak and bring it up. (possibly directly to the kid at some point, tbh, but that wouldn’t go far since “YOU’RE rude and beat people up!” even sharp kids are not necessarily good at nuance. plus eddie would hold a grudge, no matter how much they’re not enemies or how they’re ostensibly allies now.)

ethan would be a good person to talk to about bullying, i think. being “like papa” (ex-rogue) and having a good, reliable head on his shoulders means he’d be a pretty good influence in general. 

man this kid would end up with a wild family.

A/N: Hi, hello lovelies! This is my first attempt at writing fan fiction! This is gonna be a multipart one-shot typa thing. I’m really scared, but any and all feedback is really appreciated! This is loosely inspired by the scene in The Wedding Planner where Eddie tries to tell Mary he’s in love with her and “Still In Love” by Thirdstory. Hope you enjoy!

“Are you sure you’re okay?”

A small smile sat on your lips as you sat at your bay window. The lights of New York’s skyline danced along the East River as the breeze played a gentle song. A gentle hum waltzed into the wind as your fingertips traced the rim of your wine glass. Even a hard day was no match for Brooklyn’s sweet lullaby.

“I’m fine. Really, Wanda. You shouldn’t get so worked up about it. You know what they say, ‘Smooth sailing never made a skillful sailor.’”

“Yeah, well you don’t own a boat!” The aggravated sigh that escaped her lips made you chuckle. “I know you don’t mind a little bit of adversity, but doesn’t mean that Tony Stark should dish it out to you all the time!”

Her frustration echoed from your phone, making you slowly hold it further away as her voice began to raise. However in the midst of her anger, you still found it amusing. To most, Wanda was a sweet, little lily whose attention to detail made The New Yorker the most aesthetically pleasing local media outlet to date. Head of the design apartment, she lead with a firm, but nurturing authority, calm and patient towards her team knowing it took time to create the best layouts. It surprised them to discover that she was really a firecracker just waiting to burst, but to those she called family, they were amusing little bursts of energy since she would never hurt a fly. As her best friend, you knew she liked to consider herself more of a thorn protecting a rose.

“But then it’ll make for a better success story, Wand!” you exclaim right before a taking another sip of your wine. You hadn’t noticed that you were playing with the hem of your sweater until you lifted your head to see the shimmering East River once again. Its lullaby seemed to have grown quieter to give more room for Wanda’s exclamations.

“But a little bit of a break would be nice to hear about.” Another sigh left her lips, this one softer than the rest. Your gaze dropped to your hands at the statement.

Wanda wasn’t wrong. It would be nice to have a little bit of a break for once. The past year had been rather difficult. From your parents guilt tripping you for never visiting home to being kicked out of your old apartment, a win would be rather nice for a change. But after a downward spiral of constant self-loathing, you finally came to your senses and realized that moping wasn’t going to solve any of your problems. So you began your days with a jog on the Brooklyn bridge, the sun rising every day to greet you a good morning. On your way back you jogged over to the newest local coffee shop, where you became friends with the owners who offered the occasional chai-on-the-house. Then you poured yourself into your work, writing some of the best pieces of your career which led to your nomination for chief editor at The New Yorker.

But Tony Stark was a visionary and he wasn’t about to let just anyone dictate the voice of his beloved company. A few trials and tribulations in, he almost wrung you bone dry. However you saw the adversity as inspiration to work harder, proven by your latest article on the U.S.'s Middle Eastern involvement taking the internet by storm. It’ll be worth it, you kept reminding yourself, clouds of fatigue raining down on you more frequently in the recent weeks that have come to pass. But regardless of your sunny disposition, your best friend never failed to read your mind.

“Look… I know it’s been rough… And I hate seeing you exhausted to the bone, but I just want to let you know that I’m proud of you.” A short pause followed as you tried to blink away the reflection of the city’s skyline from your eyes.

“If I had it my way, Stark would have promoted you months ago, but he’s an idiot who can’t see past his own reflection.” Your lips turned up into a smile as Wanda’s chuckle came in tune with your own. “Just remember it’s okay to be tired. To have a day to yourself… You don’t always have to keep up the act AND don’t say you don’t have one. You and I both know you do.”

You swirled your wine in the glass before finishing off the red liquid. The small smile on your lips met with a hum of content. She was really the best friend you could ever ask for.

“Thanks, Wand. I really appreciate you.”

“No problem, b. I’m here whenever you need me.”

You slouched a little more against the window. “Ugh, I just wished my life was just like JLo’s in The Wedding Planner,” you sighed as your set your glass down and wrapped a blanket around yourself.

“You would hate having to plan weddings, and the story’s not even set in New York.”

“Yeah, but the flow of her career was pretty fantastic, and not to forget she got a Dr. Matthew McConaughey.”

Wanda chuckled at the fact. “You’re a loser, you know that right?”

Your phone vibrated with a new message, and the smile on your face turned to a full-fledged grin. “Would a loser be getting the best pizza in all of New York delivered to her door?”

“At this hour? It’s nearly one! How’d you pull that off?”

“I may or may not have texted the owner’s son before you called,” you taunted. Your belly was more than prepared to be filled with the pizza that was now on its way over to your apartment.

“My brother really is pathetic,” she laughed. “I told him ages ago to just ask you out. Now he’s going on what?… Three? Four years? Following you around like some lost puppy! Dad’s gonna kill him for cooking after closing.”

“I only asked for a caprese, that doesn’t take that much Wand.”

“Yeah, but you’re forgetting Y/N. This is my brother we’re talking about. He probably cooked you a five-course meal! And that’s probably why he’s only coming over now. We’ve been on the phone for awhile.”

You twisted your lips to the side. On one hand, you felt rather guilty for letting Pietro go through all that trouble just for your late night craving. But on the other, you were just excited to sit at your bay window with a slice of pizza and wine.

“I’ll bring your lunch tomorrow.”

Three firm knocks echoed from your door, causing you to finally notice Brooklyn’s lullaby had surprising nearly silenced since Wanda’s outburst. Unwrapping yourself from the comfort of your bay window, you walked over to record player where the smooth jazz of Glenn Miller’s trumpet swirled its way through the living room of your apartment. Closing your eyes while swaying with the triplets of the horn, you danced your way to your front door.

“Hey b, I’m gonna go. Your brother’s here.”

“Alright, go enjoy your pizza. Bring me a cannoli. And don’t be late tomorrow, we have that meeting with Maria at ten.”

“I won’t, now shut up. Go to bed. Love you.”

“You’re annoying. Love you, too.”

As you placed your phone down on the counter, you began to twist your hair into a bun. Three more swift knocks hit your door and you raced over to unlock the hinges. In the middle of your search for a hair tie, you swung the door wide open for Pietro to step through while you turned to stumble through your drawers.

“Hi, P! I’m so sorry for the mess, thank you so much again for the pizza! I really appreciate it, especially after the day I’ve had…” Finding a lone rubber band you, jumped in victory and swiftly wrapped you hair in place.

Pulling at the bun to loosen a few strands, you slowly spun around to face the door, ready to wrap him in an embrace. “You’re more than welcome to stay and shar-”

An ocean of blue crashed into you, still as vibrant as the day the waves pulled away.

“Tina I swear if you’re using my mascara I will throw Mr. Wiggles in the trash.” Eddie runs a hand over his face as he stands in front of the coffee machine as he hears Lina screaming at the closed bathroom door.

“You wouldn’t dare touch Mr. Wiggles because that means Mrs. Gumdrops is fare game.” Tina snaps through the door as Eddie pours some coffee into his mug. He leans over so he can see into the hallway and let’s out a sigh when he sees Mina sleepily making her way towards the closed bathroom door.

“T I have to pee let me in.” Lina looks over at her sister as she crosses her arms over her chest while Mina just yawns and stretches just as the door opens. Mina smiles as she walks inside and Eddie watches Lina’s eyes go wide and he mentally prepares himself for the fight that’s about to happen.

“I didn’t use your mascara.” Tina’s tone is full of sarcasm as she brushes past Lina so she can head to the kitchen to get some breakfast.

“Language Lina.” He sends his daughter a glare as she plops into a seat at the table and grabs a piece of toast. “Tina stop using your sisters stuff. If you want eyeliner or whatever then save your allowance and buy your own.” Tina rolls her eyes as she spreads some butter onto her toast.

“Dad I can’t find my band uniform.” Eddie sends the two girls at the table a warning look before he puts his mug on the counter as Mina shouts for him from her room.

“Don’t even start.” He warns before he heads down the hallway to help Mina look for her uniform.

“How is she related to us?” Tina asks before taking a bite of her toast. Lina just shrugs as she pulls her curly brown hair into a messy bun before taking a bite of her own toast.

“It sure as shit doesn’t make you the smart one.” Tina teases as she grabs two glasses out of the cabinet and put them on the table so she can pour milk into them.

“Language.” He snaps as he holds his mug out so Tina can pour a little milk into his coffee. “Now what’s with this smart and funny and pretty one stuff?” He asks as Tina puts the milk back in the fridge so she can go back to sitting at the table.

“Just figuring out which one we are.” Lina answers as she gets up and grabs the orange juice and pours it into a glass while Mina makes her way into the kitchen and smiles as she sees the glass of milk Tina poured for her.

“I’m the funny and smart one.” Mina states as she sits in her chair and grabs her glass of milk while Tina and Lina stare at her with confused looks making Eddie chuckle, if there’s one thing Mina is good at it’s making her sisters look at her like she has three heads.

“You can’t be two things Mina there’s three choices because there’s three of us.” Tina explains as she fixes her headband making sure it holds her curly hair out of her face.

“All three of you are smart funny and pretty.” Eddie states before taking a sip of his coffee and checking the time from the watch on his wrist. “And now all three of you are going to be late.” Mina shoves a piece of toast into her mouth and grabs her band bag before rushing past Eddie towards the front door.

“Bye dad! Love you!” He smiles as he hears the door open and close while Lina and Tina take their time grabbing their backpacks.

“Can I go to the mall after school?” Lina asks as she grabs the keys to the rusted but trusted van off the counter.

“Fine but take Mina too you know she likes the pretzels they sell at that one place.” Eddie answers making Lina just nod as she quickly leans over and places a kiss to Eddie’s cheek.

“See you later dad.” He smiles as Tina rushes up and kisses his other cheek as Lina walks towards the front door.

Eddie just let’s out a sigh as he walks over to the window, he can’t help but smile as watches Lina get into the drivers seat of his old beat up van while Tina and Mina play rock paper scissors to see who gets to ride shotgun and who has to be squeezed in the middle. He laughs to himself when Mina does a victory dance while Tina just rolls her eyes as she climbs into the van so she can sit in the middle. 💖
